Brilliant! Gripping and edge-of-your seat. I found the concept so harrowing and couldn't stop turning the pages. Jensen has such a fantastic writing style, I love reading her books.

So. I really did enjoy this book. It was something that bit different from the usual psychological thriller genre, which made me have to think more and left me quite clueless about where it was going. Louise Jensen is fast making a name for herself in the psychological thriller world. Roll on her next book!

Loved, loved, loved this book! This psychological thriller kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, I was completely blindsided. Another fabulous book from the very talented Louise Jensen. Highly recommended.

Having recently split from her husband, Ali's friends persuade her to give online dating a go and she goes out on a blind date.... The morning after, she awakes to aches, pains, bruising and bloodied hands and more importantly, no memory whatsoever of her night before. Things take a shocking turn when she looks in the mirror and can hardly believe what is looking back at her. She no longer recognises her own face. She cannot recognise her friends, relatives so what hope does she have of ever identifying her attacker?

As the mystery deepens, Ali becomes more paranoid and more frightened as her diagnosis of prosopagnosia or face blindness leaves her reeling and unable to know who she can trust. Her flatmate has disappeared and she starts to receive threatening notes from someone taunting her about the 'date'.

This is an utterly brilliant, fast paced, psychological thriller that will have you turning the pages, desperate to find out what happens next! A great read and I cannot wait for more from Louise Jensen!

Many thanks to Louise for a fantastic read and to netgalley for my ARC in return for this honest review!

Ali wakes up the morning after a blind date bloody, bruised, with no memory of what happened. She also has facial blindness and can't recognize anyone, including her own reflection. She starts retracing her steps only to learn that her family and friends are all keeping secrets that could threaten to expose Ali's own secret.

I read a lot of thrillers and get annoyed when I figure out the ending early on in the book. I thought I had this one figured out about a third of the way through, but STILL ended up changing my mind on "who done it" 3-4 times by the end of the book only to find out I STILL didn't see half of the ending coming. I LOVE when that happens!

Anyway, I read this in a day. It really is an "unputdownable" page turner that will keep your interest until the very end.

Brilliantly written, plenty of twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat. A real page turner. Cracking read by Louise Jensen.

The start of the book was gripping, straight into the story. Ali woke and couldn’t remember anything, and can’t recognise any faces. I really wanted to find out what happened.
Her story starts to unfold and we meet the people in her life, discover her back story with her family. All of the events could have led to what happened and I was left thinking it was caused by each character. It did get a little bit annoying in the middle, dragging things out and an event in childhood that kept getting referred to but not explained what it was frustrating. Especially as there didn’t seem to be any reason why it couldn’t be explained.
Picked up again at the end and quite a good ending.

Shocking. Unnerving. Engaging. Mysterious.

The takeaway? Don’t trust the advice of your wayward friends. *Sigh* if only our protagonist knew that ahead of time. The Date will result in stalking and dizzying confusion and a chilling nightmare where you won’t even know whose friend and who is foe....which will only add to the suspense. I enjoyed The Date like all of Louise Jensen’s other books! 😌

I received this book for review and thought it sounded so interesting. I haven't actually heard of the facial blindness before and I was so curious to read a book that featured this disability. It's very very interesting and this book made me want to research it some more. The book was very good. I felt the beginning was a little bit slow but other than that it was a good mystery thriller.

Ali went on a blind date one night. She wakes up the next morning not knowing what went down the night before, bruises on her wrists, a killer headache, and she can't recognize her own face in the mirror. She needs to find out what happened as she fears something terrible went down. How she is going to do this with no memory and the loss of recognizing faces, well she doesn't know. She does have the help of a good friend and her brother. What she discovers is secrets and lies and betrayals and people are not who she thought they were.

I enjoyed this book. It was a good thriller, good mystery, great suspense, creepy as hell, and very interesting. There were many things I loved about this read and really most of it I did love. The main character was a strong female, the facial blindness was a great addition to the suspense of the book, the writing was well done. I like everything but the pacing.

The beginning was a little slow for me. It did take me a while to really get into this book. I don't think it was entirely the book's fault, but it was a little slow until about halfway through. Once it picked up though, well it got so good and I couldn't put it down. It took me a week to get halfway then the other half I read all in one night. So it got really really good.

There were tons of twists and turns in this book. I must say that the facial blindness was just genius to add to a mystery thriller.. What can be more freaky and scary then not just memory loss of an attack but you wouldn't be able to recognize someone if they were stalking you. Yup creepy. That was just a piece of the story, this story had many many layers and really I had no idea what I was getting myself into. There were so many wow and what the heck moments. I did figure out who the bad guy was right before, I mean seconds before it was revealed. So yay for not figuring it out. I love it when that happens... even thought I always try so hard to figure it out.

The main character, Ali, I truly loved her. She was strong, resourceful, independent, and so very smart. She didn't give up, ever. She had a hard time piecing it all together without recognizing faces but she pushed through. I can't imagine how scary this would be.

The relationships were a bit hard to connect to in this book but that was only due to the fact that Ali really didn't know what was going on, who to trust, and who was who most of the time. There were some other great characters though. Many secondary that played important roles in the story.

Really this was a great read and I really do look forward to reading more by this author. It was a great discovery for me for sure. If you like thrillers and need something new and interesting... give this one a shot.

Loved it!

What if the “Hangover” franchise was more of a horror story rather than a comedy? Well, now we don’t have to wonder - Louise Jensen paints a terrifying and thrilling picture in “The Date,” her latest amazing standalone novel.

Ali wakes up in her bed with some gruesome injuries - and no idea where they came from. She remembers that she was on a date the previous evening, but literally nothing else. To make matters worse, she has a traumatic brain injury which literally makes her unable to identify faces, meaning she literally can’t even recognize her own face in a mirror. As it becomes apparent that something sinister happened on that date, Ali realizes that she has to force herself to remember what she can about that evening and her own painful past or she won’t live to see the future.

I really enjoyed the set-up in this book - it’s like everyone’s worst nightmare. Plus, Ali is in a bit of a tough situation to begin with, with some dark secrets of her own and a failed marriage to her name, and not by her own choice. There’s so much going on in this book, but nothing is so overpowering that it doesn’t make sense. Jensen is great at adding that depth.

I did get a little frustrated with Ali at times, since it seemed like if she just was honest from the beginning, things would have been cleared up - like if she had just told people what she wanted, things could have been sorted out. But I guess that’s part of the story itself, showing how confused and alone Ali feels with her condition and memory issues.

I can’t wait to see what Louise Jensen comes up with next. She seems to get better with each novel, and this one’s definitely another winner.

The Date By: Louise Jensen
Wow! This book has me reading late into the night, I just couldn't put it down! This is probably my favorite book by Louise Jensen yet. The characters, like in all her books are very relatable and the characters relationships are so well developed. This was one of those thrillers I will be comparing all others in that genre to. Louise Jensen has a real knack for writing incredible books that keep you on the edge of your seat. I will be recommending this book over and over.

I liked the way this story started off because it made it so much more believable. I didn't enjoy this story very much because there were too many unexplainable things going on and then I thought the ending didn't work for me

Another brilliant addition to this authors work. Although I have to admit I didn't love it as much as her other work. It was still gripping and unique.

Encouraged by friends, Ali goes on an online date which will change her life. After a vicious attack, which leaves her unable to recognise faces, she starts to get threats to expose her wrong-doings and even to harm her. This is a dark and compelling read which had me glued to the pages, with a tear at the end.

Something has happened to Alison Taylor. Recently separated from her husband, Ali has been persuaded to go on a date. She is ready, she is nervous and she is excited. By Sunday morning, Ali’s life is unrecognisable. She is home and alone but she has no memory of what happened to her. Worse still, Ali does not recognise the face staring back at her. Ali cannot recognise her friend and family. Ali cannot recognise the person determined to destroy her.
Wow this is a book and a half! I adored this from when I picked it up, all the way through to the end. Jensen has written an incredibly tense, chilling thriller, with more twists and turns than you can count, seriously there is so much adrenaline in this book and I adored reading every moment! Jensen throws a lot of twists into this read and I did not see any of them coming, the reader cannot relax for one moment as something else is soon revealed, I devoured this incredibly quickly and am sure others will do so too. We start with Ali the morning after the night before, we soon realise that something terrible has happened and then everything transpires from here. The added complication is Ali now has prosopagnosia or facial blindness, after a blow to the head, she cannot recognise anyone, not even herself, this adds so much more terror to the situation, anyone that Ali meets could be her attacker and neither Ali nor the reader has any clue. This element is not only unique and adds a refreshing vibe to the book but of course the tension and danger amplifies, meaning ‘The Date’ becomes an even more intense read.
Ali as a character is very special, I immediately clicked with her and cared about what happened to her, then we learn about her traumatic backstory and it only endeared me more to her. Jensen teases out her life story, feeding the reader some information but always leave us wanting more. Then when we learn her story, I realised how powerful her story is, full of sadness yes but it demonstrates her strength to us. Jensen writes incredibly sensitively as well as thrilling to ensure we get the best of both worlds.
‘The Date’ is a phenomenal thriller, full of twists and turns and excitement, made even more unique by Ali and her story. This is a very powerful thriller.

4 stars for a very engaging psychological thriller!
Ali is separated from her husband and not all that happy about it. Her friends talk her into going on a date with an online mystery man. She is reluctant but decides to give it a try. Well..........
Bad things happen. Very bad things. And she doesn't remember them the morning after. To top that she no longer has any facial recognition and that is very frightening.

She has a few people she feels she can trust but definitely can't go to the police. There are some threats that come through and she is at a dead end as to how to stop the madness. Some one is out to get her. But why???

A story unfolds of a pretty crappy past; dark, unimaginable family twists. She can trust no one and there are many suspects. The truth is shocking.

This was a page turner and great summer read for me. I can hardly wait to add more Jensen's to my list. Many thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Louise Jensen for a digital copy to review. Highly recommended!!!

Newly single Ali wakes after what appears to have been a wild night out to see a face she doesn’t recognise looking back at her in the mirror. Taken to hospital she is diagnosed with memory loss and a condition known as facial blindness. Shortly after she receives several threatening messages and fears someone hates her and is seeking revenge for real or perceived grievances. Sometimes people reveal the truth under the influence and Ali will discover her secrets can’t stay buried for ever. They have the potential to change her world forever and at what cost?
I feel for those suffer from the condition known as Prosopagnosia aka facial blindness. It must be incredibly hard for sufferers to cope with this in real life.
This book kept me on edge from start to finish. At times I found myself trying keep my fingers crossed hoping nothing would happen and trying to pre-empt who the perpetrator was eg neighbour, housemate or maybe three or four other others on my list of possible suspects. There is a fantastic twist to this story which will take you by surprise.
Make sure you add this one to your list if you are a fan of mystery thrillers.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for a free digital copy of this book in return for an honest review

“I think we’ve all been guilty of carrying out acts we think are a good idea, until we’re caught. Haven’t we?”

Ali is guilty - she knows it; she can feel it. But guilty of what? When she wakes on Sunday following a blind date, with a killer headache and covered in blood - she realizes that nightmares don’t just happen when you sleep.

So What the hell happened? Who’s blood is she covered with? As Ali tries to uncover and remember the events that happened on her blind date, she quickly realizes that sometimes not knowing - is best.

“The problem with knowing things, Ali, is that you can’t unknow them.”

The Date, is a fab, fun, frightening tale that keeps you guessing till the very end! 5 stars for this one!❤️

I am floored. Once again Louise Jensen has written a book with so many twists and turns, my mind couldn’t keep up. And the best part? I absolutely loved it!

I was always skeptical about online dating and after reading The Date, I think anybody would be scared to try it out! You truly never know who you are really talking to. In Alison’s case, she just really had like the worst date and night of her life.

The Date was everything I hoped for and more, it was extremely creepy and un-putdownable. I was flying through these pages trying to figure out what in the world was happening and who this mystery date man was, I couldn’t figure it out. I swear everyone was a suspect to me but when I found out who actually did it, I was shocked.

This novel is truly unpredictable in the best way. There’s so much deceit and so many twists that you will just be clawing through these pages for more. Even though I was completely satisfied with the ending to this novel, I still want more just because it was that good!

If you’re looking for a psychological thriller with a lot of action, terrifying scenarios and a ‘whodunit’ vibe then The Date is perfect for you! I highly recommend it and any of Louise Jensen’s novels. They always seem to take me by surprise every time and she has the prettiest covers!
