You will probably fly through this one in a half a day. This fast paced rollercoaster of a psychological thriller will have you at the edge of your seat.
A perfect life literally ran into Natasha aka Tasha when millionaire stud man, Nick aka Nicky (referred to only by Jen) smashes his car into her on her way home from work one day. So... THAT'S a relationship red ⛳️! Anyway, life is just Hunkey Dorey with her posh house, posh husband, and her beautiful daughter. Except for Jen! Ugh she's so annoying (as every stereotypical ex-wife would be). She's always... there, pushing her way into their family life, calling him "Nicky"! 'Nicky, Nicky, Nicky' (gag) Nick doesn't help though. He's always giving her the time of day! Well it seems Natasha does what she can to tolerate it all until one day...
Her world comes crashing down. Everything she knew about her life is rubbish, garbage, dust, gone! After she discovers that her husband might not be who she thinks he is, his ex may be more bat shit crazy than she thought, and there may be others she can't trust to tell her the truth, she has to learn to toughen up and trust no one. Her daughter is her number one priority and she'll stop at nothing to get her back!
I'm actually sweating as I type this review. It had my heart pounding and feathers ruffled! I believe any lover of psychological thrillers would agree... this is definitely another 5⭐️ book by the wonderful Jess Ryder!
Thanks Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for our honest review! Honestly... is a definite must read!

Natasha is happily married, with a loving husband and a beautiful baby girl. The problem is that her husband's ex-wife Jen is still part of his life. Natasha is coping with that difficult dynamic well enough, but truly falls apart when her husband and daughter are suddenly gone without a trace. Needless to say, her entire life falls apart. Her resources are now quite limited, and with no one to trust and to rely on, she enlists the aid of Jen.

This story is told from multiple viewpoints, including "then and now". While ordinarily this would bother me in a book, it was done quite well here, and lent quite well to covering the twists and turns in this captivating story. Ultimately, this is a story about secrets. This dark, chilling story truly kept me on the edge of my seat. This is a true psychological thriller. The ending was truly a shock. I definitely am looking forward to reading more by this author.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC to review.

First of all, I love when the husband is psychotic. BUT Natasha magically gets the life she's always dreamed up; rich older husband, and a baby girl. Although she can't seem to get rid of his ex wife Jen. Jen had me so angry at many points at the beginning of this book, oh i love how the author could get my emotions that high! I even wanted her GONE!

When Natasha learns from her husbands driver, Sam, that he has been going to Jen's house late at night when he is supposed to be on business meetings Natasha realizes she needs to leave (which she does with little emotion?? girl power) BUTTTTT a huge twist comes into play before that happens!

Anna's character is one that will REALLY shock you once you find out how she comes into play. I liked the tie in with her. The ending of the book was a little thrown together for me. I wish the final scenes were explained a bit more, I wouldn't have even minded it being a little longer because of that! Hayley, Nick's sister, was such an evil character oh my gosh I despised her. Kudos to the author for having such well developed characters!!!

Easy read with plenty of twists and turns but just too far fetched for me to really enjoy it. I do think it will be a popular summer read though.

I read this book in 24 hours. Once I started it, I could not put it down. I really liked the way the story unfolded. It started with someone in an apparent coma and you don't know who that is, then most of the book is in flashbacks from Natasha, the current wife and then later from the ex-wife Jen. Meanwhile, someone named Anna is in hiding and is worried about her safety in current day. All this could have been confusing but it wasn't at all because it was well written. Knowing that someone was on the run and in fear for their lives made the flashbacks all the more suspenseful because you want to know who is in hiding and from what. It was also really difficult to tell who could be trusted and who couldn't be, which further added to the suspense. The pacing was great and I never got bored with the story. I look forward to reading more from this author.

After I finished this book, I gave it a standing ovation.

Brilliant, twisty, twisted. Ms Ryder, you really know how to mess with our heads! When Part 1 ended, I screamed "WHAAAAT? ARE YOU SURE?"
The whole book was like this - full speed ahead twists and turns on the windiest street in the dead of night. In a rain storm. When you can't see where you are going and you just hope you don't drive off the cliff. Yep. That was this book for me.

I love when a book tricks me. I was waiting to turn to a page and find a note from the author that said " HA GOT YA AGAIN" in blood red ink. The Ex-Wife was psycho, creepy, and awesome. Brilliant.
I am not going to give any cliff notes on this book because you need to read it and see for yourself. Trust me, please.

Thank you so much #Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for my free ARC in return for my honest review.

You’ve got everything she wants …

Newly married Natasha has the perfect house, a loving husband and a beautiful little girl called Emily. She’d have it all if it wasn’t for Jen, her husband’s ex-wife who just won’t leave them alone …
Then Natasha returns home one day to find her husband and Emily gone without trace. Desperate to get her daughter back, Natasha will do anything even if it means accepting an offer of help from Jen. But can she trust her? And do either of them really know the man they married?

This is my first time reading anything by this Author. She didn't disappoint. The story is faced paced and filled with drama and suspense. The book goes from back in time to present day to make the story very interesting.
I can normally figure out the endings of most books. This one had me guessing till the very end. A must read for the Summer.

My head is still spinning after that roller coaster of a ride that Jess Ryder has just taken me on! Seriously, it was fantastic!

This' is the story of Nick and his current wife Natasha and their child Emily. Nick was formally married to Jen, who is still everywhere in their lives. Then one day Nick and Emily go missing without a trace. Can Natasha trust Jen to help her find her daughter.?

This is one twisty story that will have you thinking you know what happened and then bam! Told from alternate viewpoints this is such a fantastic story that you will be addicted to. You just have to know what happened, how and why. So many lies, cheating and trust issues!

Thanks. To Bookouture and NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book to read in exchange for my honest opinions

Thanks to Netgalley for my copy.

Natasha is happily married to her older husband Nick with a darling little girl Emily. Everything would be perfect if not for the interference of his clingy ex-wife Jen. Nick left Jen for Natasha when she found out she was pregnant. Now she lives in Jen's old house and has everything that Jen had ever dreamed of.

This is a clever psychological drama about the repercussions of cheating and betrayal. But who is lying and who is telling the truth? This is a bumpy ride which left me never knowing who to believe.

The Ex-Wife is a psychological thriller focusing on a woman, her husband and his ex-wife. It has so many intricate turns and twists and I loved it. I was hooked from the first page. My loyalties were always shifting and I didn't know what was going to happen. I always love not knowing who to trust or believe in a psychological thriller and this one is brilliant for that.

I did feel a little let down by the ending though, after racing through 90% of the book in one day.

It's told in four perspectives which alternate, and also different timelines. We get the perspective of Natasha, the current wife, in the present and the past. We get Jen, the ex wife, in the present and the past. We get Anna in the present (you find out her story about halfway through and it's great!), and then we get Nick, the husband. We only see one chapter from his perspective though, the very last one and I would have liked to see more from him, to see his motivations and the way he thinks. That would have made the story even better, in my opinion.

This was my first Jess Ryder book and it had me hooked from the start and feeling all kinds of feelings, which is brilliant in a book like this. I can't wait to read more of her work.

If you want something you can binge read in one sitting that will draw you in from the first chapter, this is the one for you!

Hands down quite possibly THE best book so far of this year.
Kept me guessing throughout. Fast paced and grippy with a very unexpected twist at the end.
Fantastic. A MUST read!

Natasha is married to Nick, a man old enough to be her father. They met by a chance accident and he swept her off her feet (literally)and then before she knew it she was pregnant and married. His ex-wife Jen is always coming around and sticking her nose in. Nick says he wants to go easy on her, she is having a hard time after being kicked out of her own home and he getting married to Natasha. Other than Jen and Nick's family being against Natasha, the marriage is fine until one day she finds Nick and their daughter Emily gone. What was Natasha going to do now? She feels she has no choice but to go to Jen and see if she knows where he has gone. Does she let herself trust Jen? She is willing to go to any length to get her daughter back including trusting the one woman she never thought she would.

I really did enjoy this book I found it a hard one to put down and therefore read the book in a couple of days. It really had me gripped very quickly. At first I couldn't really follow some of the characters in each of their chapters but it does all come together well and once you understand what is going on, it makes the book more enjoyable. Editing was very well done, I did not find any spelling mistakes. This is another book where the author uses words not in my vocabulary. Example: 'I surreptitiously gripped the edges of my seat.' Was not a word I was familiar with and lucky reading a kindle I can use the dictionary which had a pretty good work out. However, that is one great things about reading is finding words you are unfamiliar with, I am always learning. The characters were written and developed well, but Jen drove me nuts with the way she would call Nick an endearing 'Nicky'. I also think the ending between Jen and Natasha could of been longer as it felt a bit unfinished. I can't go in to this however, as it would give away too much.

My thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the copy of this book in exchange for my review.

Books like this put me in panic mode. Am I going to be an ex wife one day!? Hopefully not. Still...leaves married folks worrying non stop if their spouse will be the same.
So Natasha is married to an older man named Nick and together they have a child named Emily. Nick is rich and his family are a bunch of pretentious asshats... someone please slap <spoiler>Haley</spoiler> for me ok?

Also Nick's ex wife Jen who is loved by his family, is always back in the picture. Basically, everyone is a world class liar in this book. The only one who seems innocent is Emily...who shouldn't live with any of these whack jobs. Especially after her and Nick go missing.

I dunno how to rate this...it was a fast and while it was tense at times, you just felt like shouting to Natasha for being naive all the time. Pretty good psychological thriller, but somewhat predictable at times. More like 3.75 rounded up.

Oh my goodness what a book. There are some many ups and downs you just don’t know what’s going on.

Natasha has a chance encounter with Nick, which leads to him leaving his wife, Jen, and marrying Natasha. They end up having a daughter together called Emily. Everything is perfect for Natasha except for the constant irritation of Jen. But is everything as it seems ?

One morning Natasha discovers that Nick and Emily have vanished without a trace. She is desperate to find them, so desperate she accepts help from Jen ....... but can she really truely trust Jen, after all Natasha did ruin her marriage.

The story is told mainly by Natasha but there are also parts of the story told by Jen and a lady called, Anna, who seems to be doing all she can to blend in to the crowd and hide away, but who is she hiding from ?

The characters is this book are brilliant, and I couldn’t help feeing sorry for Natasha and Jen, in places. The despair, heartache and guilt felt by the characters is so real you honestly feel as if you are going through everything with them.

The are so many twists and turns in this book and things aren’t always as they first seem. You will be gripped from start to finish as the story is gradually unfurled.

A brilliant read that I can’t recommend strongly enough. You have to read this if you are a fan of psychological thrillers.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

What a fantastic book! This is my first time reading. Jess Ryder book, and I was impressed. It sucks you in within the first couple chapters. You think you're rooting for one character, then you start to root for another one and then as soon as you think you have the ending figured out - BAM! Twist! I loved it!

I would like to thank NetGalley, Jess Ryder and Bookouture for the chance to read this before it hits shelves in June. This was a wild ride for sure. At first I didn't like Jen and then I did and then I didnt. I never really cared for Nick he just seemed like a player. I really never liked Haley, Nick's sister. I did like Natasha. It was kind of confusing reading the then and now under each name. And after part two things really got twisted. I liked the ending, I read through it about two days. I feel like the ending was perfect. Thanks again for the opportunity to read it!

A well done treatment of a complex situation involving infidelity in marriage. A plot that keeps the reader guessing about who is doing what to whom and what the ending will involve. Natasha is a young lady living at the low end of middle class and eking out a living working in a coffee bar. She has no car because she cannot afford one and has to ride a bicycle to go anywhere. One day on her way to work she is struck by a car doing damage to the bike. The driver of the car - Nick quickly gives her a large amount of cash in order to settle the situation. He also asks her out with her accepting. It develops that Nick is married to Jennifer (Jen) but professes to not be in love with her any longer. Natasha begins to fall in love with Nick since he claims that he wants to leave Jen and marry her. To force the issue Natasha becomes pregnant and not too surprisingly Nick comes right out stating that he is very happy, he will divorce Jen and marry Natasha and acknowledge that the baby is his.

First question is why does Jen accept the situation so easily? And also why is she continuing to involve herself with Nick and his family. She freely comes over to the home that Natasha shares with her husband. She is also quite vocal in giving advice. In a party for Nick's sister Jen is invited and while there seems to get along with the family while Natasha is treated as an unwelcome outsider.

Nick professes to love Natasha but is away on business quite frequently. He hires a driver to take Natasha around. After a while the driver comes out with very broad hints that Jen is still in the picture involved with Nick. The real force seemingly to keep Nick around is his absolute adoration of the baby born to Natasha - a little girl named Emily. Ms. Ryder tells the story via alternating dialogs from both Natasha and Jennifer. The reader is grabbed immediately and continually changing opinion about what will eventually happen. The ending will satisfy almost everyone and allow the reader to feel that they have read a very interesting and challenging novel with the expectation of more of the same from Jess Ryder.

This was not what I was expecting, the twists kept coming and just when I thought there couldn’t be any more the last one happened. Definitely recommend this book.

A fast-paced read that kept me on my toes until the very end! I personally had a hard time starting it because the first few chapters hit a little too close to home for me personally, having to deal with an ex-wife in my own life, however soon that was forgotten and I was going along for the ride. Great story, good characters and a story that will keep you guessing.
