A book for teens on how to conquer your anxiety and self-doubt and increase your self confidence.

It's a book that could be read by all ages, not just teens.

In each chapter is a workbook so you get to work on your issues while reading the book. Having workbooks is something that teenagers are familiar with at school, so this format works well, and (hopefully) stops them from reading the whole book through without taking any action.

If your teen is struggling with self confidence and suffers with anxiety, this would be a good book to purchase for them.

If you have a superhero-loving teen in your life (who doesn't!?), and they struggle with self-esteem and motivation, this could be the book you need to get. Even not-so-teenage readers might find some confidence here.

Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for a digital ARC for the purpose of an unbiased review.

Really cool book that is aimed at teenagers, but I still enjoyed its down to earth vibe. It includes lots of techniques, which help with increasing self-confidence, which is a very important subject especially for teenagers as they come to terms with the world around them.

I was sent a copy of this book for my independent honest review.
This is an excellent book for anyone wanting to improve their self confidence, reduce self doubt and negativity. Although primarily aimed at a teen audience, I found this to be the best in this genre for a long time and therefore accessible and applicable to people of all ages.
The chapters are very informative in clear and concise language. I especially loved the workbook element attached to each subject so that the exercises can be done at the same time as the theory which for me as a health and wellbeing practitioner is especially useful.
A great resource for professionals and for all of us to introduce more positivity and wellbeing into our lives

Summary:
A self-help book ostensibly aimed at teens, it offers guidelines to those suffering with self-esteem issues, confidence, and/or anxiety. It takes the approach of advocating seven Inner Super Powers, or ISP’s, that taken as a whole will transform the person into someone who is more confident and self-aware, and is comfortable with themselves.

The subject matter is adolescent psychology, happiness and emotions, and self-help techniques. This is a topic way outside of my zone of familiarity, so I was intrigued to open it and find out what was going on.

Main Characters:
The “characters” in this case are the Individual Super Powers of:
1: Words:

2: Body

3: Imagination

4: Courage

5: Forgiveness

6: Love

7: Perseverance

Plot:
This is a good read, nothing hugely original or controversial but succinct and in easily-digestible prose. Beginning with “It’s all in your mind” the author talks about the power of the sub-conscious, then how to command it. The advice if “focus on the outcome you want” and use appropriate words to drill it home to your subconscious mind.

Each chapter is well laid-out, and each follows a similar structure.

It describes the particular power and why it IS such a power. The author then lists out many ways how we can turn that power upon ourselves, or react to the way OTHER people use the power to internalise and make us feel bad about ourselves (e.g. people criticising an achievement you thought was amazing), destroying our fragile ego, focusing on the I Can’t instead of the I Can.

The author then focuses on ways and means to destroy Fear and Doubt using that particular ISP, through assumed scenarios, and desired actions/outcomes. We are then invited to a little self-reflection, by completing an open-ended narrative of 5/6 questions.
The author then moves into the meat of the chapter, by outlining various exercises we can follow, which will allow us to “tap into” the particular ISP. There is a bonus chapter at the end, on how to release your unwanted emotions.

What I Liked:
- The steps flow easily, and are simple to understand.
- Overflows with positivity

What I Didn’t Like:
- There is no new insight here, rather a concise repackaging of standard themes and solutions.
- I could not see, other than her Nursing Masters degree, whether the author had specific training in the field, which tends to water down the credibility.

Overall:
This is a nice book to have, it speaks to a particular audience who may find it helpful. Anything that has as its aim helping people who are struggling, and need a little perspective and guidance, is to be welcomed.

I liked the positivity, that nothing is insurmountable, but thinl there could be more in the way of “hard” methodology, instead of someone seemingly to work it out by themselves. While of course people must take responsibility for themselves, I would like to have seen a more holistic approach taken.

In summary, there is really nothing new or ground-breaking in this book, but the material is presented in a clear, precise way.

This is a great starter self-help book for teenagers, although I think almost anyone can benefit from the positive messages and affirmations throughout. Easy to read and understand, I’ll be passing it on to all the young adults I know.

Thank you BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book - all opinions are my own.

This was a terrific, easy to read and completely practical self-help book, which, while written for teens, could arguably be a great read for anyone. Jacqui Letran is on point with so much of the content of this book, and it brings forward thoughtful, insightful and mindful ways of looking at how to be comfortable as yourself.

I really liked the focus on finding happiness within your existing everyday life, versus, having to make crazy changes to be able to be happy. It felt realistic and completely attainable and should be exactly what we are teaching not just teens, but adults everywhere in this social media age.

The content was clear, logical and well laid out, and made complete sense in figuring out how to recognize feelings within yourself, and how to address those feelings in a positive and healthy manner.

Overall, I think this book is awesome - a must read for anyone who wants to keep building up their lives in positive, happy and meaningful ways.

A very beautiful and succinct book for teenagers to build their confidence amidst the cacophony of diverse and conflicting forces that tend to tear them apart as they are growing up. The focus is on key and important concepts that are labeled as seven Inner Super Powers (ISP) that help a person to manage his life and come out trumps against all odds provided he practices these skills and builds his competency over a period of time. Written in very simple language, it is very easy for any person to understand the concepts and apply them in their daily life. She talks about a personal space called Studio where you can practice your skills in a safe manner without ridicule by any member. The logical order of the chapters elucidate the key concepts beautifully and intertwining all these concepts helps a person to manage his life with fortitude.

She has also personally experienced difficult situations in her life as a teenager and this has been the basis of her book that has also shaped her experiences over a period of time. The stress on asking crucial and powerful questions throughout the book helps a teen to understand life better and makes them stronger. The essence of practicality and the application of these concepts in a practical manner in the form of an exercise and blending them together to come up with a workbook or a playbook makes it easier to bind all the concepts and observe the outcomes that a person experiences in a single place.

One area that could be explored in the book is the focus on some real life case studies that will further reinforce these concepts and how the concepts help one to cope with reality that is always a shape shifter and how one needs nimble skills to manage their growth and career, especially at the teen stage in one's life.

Excellent book for not only teens but all adults. Should be required reading! It was insightful and the ideas are practical.

I got this book free in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed the topic of the book and found it very helpful, Unfortunately it was very targeted to teens. The language was therefore a bit simplified and all the examples were set in a teenage context. Which I found a bit sad, since it is also applicable to adults who might suffer from selfdoubt and anxiety. I think this book is very helpful for teenagers to unleash their inner Superpower and the exercises are also a nice touch.

As I am not a teenager I would have given the book 3 stars for me personally, but for teeangers I would put this book as at least 4 stars.

This book is not just for young adults, I learned so much that I will also use. Unleashing your inner supers powers is a great name for a book as it encourages you to explore that part of you. I wish t had when I was younger. So many ideas to help yourself do that which makes you somewhat uneasy but not overwhemed. I feel it every time , I go to my closet. Jeans or a dress and jeans usually win. A dress next time after I try the exercises made in this book. I loved it and recommend it highly. I received this book from Net Galley for an honest review and no compensation.

Why this aimed so directly for teens? I am unfortunately way past my teen years but struggling with a lack of self confidence and found this insightful and helpful. I think because it is straight forward straight talking it was clear and easy to read and follow, I wasn't bogged down with the mumbo-jumbo. Certainly a really useful read for any teenager or older who wants to understand themselves a bit more but also a great tool for parents, grandparents, teachers etc to support those in their care
