A simply delightful story laced with humor, extremely sharp and wicked banter, snark (Molly) and layers of happenstance. The cast of characters had such diverse personalities that they injected their own form of delight and hilarity, adding to the amusement value of the story that easily drew you in from its onset.

The way the push/pull relationship between Saul and Molly was written was smart and so very entertaining. The imagery created in and around them made the story come alive, making me feel as if I was a participant in the journey to their hard fought HEA. Though Alice and Marie may have caused Molly much frustration with their innuendos, it was fun watching her try to unravel their true meanings...that in itself made the story that much more enjoyable, as well as laughable.

The lead into Lauren’s story was intriguing, leaving no doubt that her upcoming story will rival Molly’s.

This was my first read by Jennie but most definitely won't be my last. What a great read this was it was so much fun and was very entertaining a super start to the series will be adding more of Jennie's book to my TBR list.

Lone Star Hero is the first story by Jennie Jones that I’ve read and it really drew me in. I’m not normally a great fan of either hot dusty places or stories with a bit of a paranormal twist but with this story I overcame those apprehensions. I could actually see myself visiting the Happy Hamlet Of Hopeless in Calamity Valley, Texas. Maybe in winter, but still.
As for the paranormal twist, well that was handled elegantly. It’s more of a woo woo thing with the ghosts of the great grandfathers and I’m not sure I believe in ghosts but in this story they were perfectly believable, as were the varying psychic abilities of Molly, her mother Marie and grandmother Alice.
This story is witty and fairly light though it does have its moments and there are times when I really felt for Molly and Saul over the hands life had dealt them. In their own ways each has suffered a hefty degree of hurt.
Overall I’ve found Lone Star Hero to be an utterly intriguing story. It’s book one in the Calamity Valley series and if book two is as good as this one it will be a corker!

Lone Star Hero by author Jennie Jones is outstandingly entertaining reading. So much so, that I could not tear my attention from the shenanigans in the story. Alice stole scenes on many occasions and the chemistry between Molly and Saul is scorching. There are many comical moments that made the read fly. Another great read from Ms Jones.

This is a delightful story of Calamity Valley and some of the notorious people who live there. The Mackillop family have, for generations, apparently been cursed - the family members are all female and none have married, though all the older generations each have a daughter. Mind you, when you realise the towns in the Valley are Hopeless, Surrender and Reckless, you might guess this isn’t going to be a straight forward contemporary romance!

In this first book in the series, we are introduced to Molly Mackillop, who left her home in Hopeless some six years ago. She’s a skilled photographer and has returned home after discovering her fiancé not only cheated on her but also stole from her! Now she’s back with plans to restore her hacienda but needs help as it is currently roofless. Cue her Grandmother, Alice (aka Crazy Alice), foretelling Molly that someone is coming to help her.… and her Grandmother, like many of the older generations of this family, definitely has psychic abilities though she is apt to give hints and clues rather than great details, which can be frustrating for Molly at times.

The man that Alice spoke about is Saul Solomon, originally from Colorado but more recently working in Texas as a Ranger after a heartbreaking revelation split him from his family. Now he’s facing further complications after rescuing a damsel in distress who is now fixated on him marrying her! He’s sold up and left all that behind him - or so he hopes! When he reaches Hopeless he’s not sure if he should stay or go but something is certainly influencing him and his decisions - is it fate, fantasy or a crazy lady?

This is a fun read where psychic abilities, community spirit, a meddling mother and grandmother together with the GGs all have important roles to play in this potential romance - you’ll need to read it yourself to discover more about the GGs! There are times when it will have you laughing out loud and even more times you’ll be grinning as you read this enjoyable story. I hadn’t read anything by this author before but I’ll certainly look out for more by her in future - and for more books in this series!

This is a delightful read (a new author for me), with a beautiful setting and lovely main characters, whose problems have to do above all with themselves and their backgrounds.
The mysticism, superstition and the paranormal dimensions were well handled and gave the story a different rhythm, which I enjoyed. I also liked the writing style, the strong connection and the banter between Saul and Molly, the humor, the secondary characters and the compelling female characters.

This is a thoroughly entertaining book. It wasn't at all what I expected from the cover and the blurb but entertaining nonetheless. Saul and Molly are two lost souls who find each other in Calamity valley. While neither is looking for a relationship, they may well be exactly what the other needs to heal. This story has a very slight paranormal element with strange occurrences happening throughout. Spirits, family secrets, and desperate times all come together to make this a fun read.

I would definitely recommend this one and I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.

This is a funny, feisty, thoroughly entertaining book! The dialog is so witty and oft times deep, the characters are crazy good and so engaging that you will be anxiously awaiting the next book in the Calamity Valley series.

Lone Star Hero by Jeannie Jones, the first book in the Calamity Valley series. Likable characters. I enjoyed the development of the storyline between the characters with each of them issues and secrets from their past. Liked the setting. A great start to a new series.

Lone Star Hero by Jeannie Jones sounds from the title as if it is a cowboy romance story. It does take place in Texas. This is mystical story with psychics, ghosts, family curses, lying ex-fiancé and an abundance of extremely strange occurrences. To have these things happen in a Texas canyon made the events seem out of place at the beginning but as the story progressed it all made sense in a crazy sort of way. More so since the spirits themselves are at odds; some are supportive while others are harmful.

The two main characters, Molly Mackillop and Saul Solomon are at crossroads in their lives. Molly has returned to Hopeless in Calamity Valley, Texas, trying to start a business and bring tourist business to the small community in which she grew up. This would be difficult enough without the Mackillop curse hanging over her head. Then there is Saul Solomon who is trying to outrun a stalker. How he winds up in Hopeless along with the many events and happenings make this an unusual, but amusing read. If you are into different, then this is the book for you.

Lone Star Hero is my first read by Jennie Jones and was packed with passion, intensity and some hometown truths.

I enjoyed the background story, the unacknowledged quest for happiness, and the never-ending rollercoaster of emotions that this wounded couple must face to conquer their relationship fears.

I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in the series and meeting more of these charming characters.

3.5 stars! This one was little excentric! While I think this series is going to be fun and very entertaining, this first book in the series must lay the foundation for a lot of family drama, quirky femaes and town lore. It was a lot to get in and the dialogue could get convoluted! I get the humor and fun to come- just didn't feel it hit it's mark perfectly in book 1!

Lone Star Helo is a well written romance. I enjoyed he plot, setting and the author’s style of writing. I highly recommend this book.

First book I have read by this author and I did enjoy it.
Molly is single, as are all the women in her family. She tried to escape this by running from her family home, but now she's back and needs a builder to help her do up her property.
Saul us running too, not knowing where he is going.
The characters in the story draw you in and entertain you. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
