I enjoyed this book. It explored some interesting themes related to the relationships of the characters, which were a nice added depth to the storyline. And now that we're several books into this series, the characters and locations are becoming more familiar, more comfortable. There was one kind of random storyline, which I assume was introducing us to the characters in preparation for the next (or a future) book, but it seemed more detailed than just an introduction but not quite related to this book. I look forward to those characters returning in the future, and to reading more about Happily, Inc.

Not Quite Over You is Silver’s story. I have been reading the Happily Inc series by Susan Mallery and have been looking forward to Silver’s story. Her story surprised me in how often I teared up. You think of Silver as tough as nails so seeing the vulnerability in her was interesting.
The book description does not do this book justice. It is about so much more than a physical relationship.
I will not spoil anything but we learn all about Silver’s past and her past with Drew. I could not be more pleased as to how all of that turned out. My stomach was in knots (I know it is fiction but it felt so real) when she had to tell Drew her secret.
Susan creates characters that you believe in and cheer for. The friendships created in Happily Inc are what makes this series top notch. Both the women and the men have friends that see them through all of their ups and downs.
There are so many little touches to the story that are the hallmark of a terrific writer.

I am looking forward to Jasper’s story. And if Wynn doesn’t get herself straightened out then I may just have to wish for a new girl for him. She is over the top at the moment. I hope Susan can redeem her.

Sexual content - some physicals scenes, they do not have a lot of descriptive detail
Drinking - casual drinking, and Silver runs a bar, and some patrons get drunk(it is not glamorized)
Violence - no violence, even though I may have supported some violence against Drew's mother 🙂 evil witch.

I received this book from Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review.

I used my copy to help edit the following review:

I found myself pleasantly surprised by Not Quite Over You. In the first few chapters, I was convinced it might go from a little too sweet to outright ridiculous, but Ms. Mallery reined it in and delivered a book I can ultimately recommend, provided you’re in the mood for something light and frothy.

Silver Tesdal is a woman with a complex backstory. She lives and works in Happily Inc, a small town formed specifically to be a wedding destination. She wants to expand her one-woman travelling bar business and has applied – and been turned down – for loans by a couple of banks. When we first meet her, Silver is applying for a loan with the local bank – which happens to be owned by the family of her ex, Drew Lovato. It’s not an ideal situation, but Silver feels it’s her last hope.

Silver is depressed enough when the bank turns her down and running into Drew on the way out doesn’t help. He offers to talk to the loan officer for her, but she firmly declines and goes on her merry way. She’s determined to forget about the matter, but Drew spends the next two days reviewing possible options to get her the money. He realizes the loan committee considers her a bad risk, so he considers lending though the bank using his own money but since that option violates federal banking statutes and would likely result in prison time for him, decides against it. Acting on a bit of a whim and nostalgia, Drew decides instead to invest in Silver’s business, and thus becomes a minority partner. He’s been nagged by a lot of ‘what-ifs’ from their shared past, and he hopes that working with her will allow him to figure out if they could still be something to each other after all these years.

I have to stop for minute here and address the elephant in the review. No one in their right mind looks at an ex – with whom they haven’t had significant contact in years – and thinks, ‘I should go into business with her. And if our past romantic history doesn’t make things awkward enough at the start, I’ll also try to rekindle our old flame, to make certain this whole experience is weird and not business-like.’ It’s ridiculous, and yet this is what goes through Drew’s mind. To make the scenario even more strange, we then find out that Silver got pregnant at eighteen and gave the child up for adoption. She broke up with Drew when he went off to college, knowing the golden boy from one of the town’s leading families didn’t need to stay tied down to a girlfriend from the wrong side of the tracks. When Silver subsequently realized she was pregnant, she visited him at college to tell him. They agreed they weren’t ready to be parents and that Silver would give the baby up, and basically never spoke of it again. Given all this history, a little awkwardness between Silver and Drew felt normal and expected. It’s Drew’s plan to partner in her business which is odd.

Luckily, at least Silver reacts like a normal person, and is initially adamant that she doesn’t want to work with Drew. He manages to wear her down with protestations that he will keep things professional, and that his business experience could benefit her company. Silver reluctantly agrees, and surprisingly, the partnership does go well. Drew helps Silver work some events, while Silver allows herself to consider his advice as she starts to expand and hire new employees. As Drew hoped, their proximity starts to influence their feelings for each other, but even that goes smoothly, with the two agreeing that their relationship should develop slowly, without interfering in the business.

However, this doesn’t last, and fate throws a wrench in the works when their daughter comes to town. Silver had an open adoption and stayed in touch with the couple who adopted her daughter, whom they named Autumn. The couple eventually divorced, and now Leigh, the mother, has plans to get remarried in Happily Inc. Autumn will be in the wedding party and then stay with Silver for the week of her mother’s honeymoon. Everything is great, except for the fact that Drew has no idea Silver is involved in their daughter’s life.

Not Quite Over You is almost split into two story arcs, with the first one seeing Silver and Drew resume their relationship, and the second seeing them navigate the issue of their daughter. Each arc has its good and bad points, though in the end I felt the good outweighed the bad.

As I’ve already said, I did not like the way Drew approached his and Silver’s reunion. Investment in her business seemed like a very strange step to take, particularly given their extensive history. However, Silver’s more realistic reaction to his plans and the calm way they managed to develop their business relationship did offset some of my dissatisfaction. As far as the Autumn-related drama goes, there’s a clear villain in Drew’s mother, who doesn’t care to know her granddaughter and wants to separate Drew and Silver. It’s nice to see Drew trying to get to know Autumn and figure out what his role will be in her life, but the one-dimensional nature of his scheming mother detracts from the story. While everyone else is dealing with conflicting emotions and trying to grow into better people, she just decides she doesn’t want to even acknowledge the existence of her granddaughter, because it could interfere with her political ambitions for Drew. Ambitions he doesn’t even share.

If you’re a fan of Ms. Mallery or cozy small-town romances, you may enjoy Not Quite Over You. Happily Inc. certainly fits the small-town stereotype despite its odd name – there are couples from previous books running all over, making friends and setting the scene for future books. Although I hadn’t read anything else in the Happily Inc series, it felt familiar enough to just jump into. And while I definitely found some elements of the story to be improbable, in the end I liked it more than I expected and can even see myself reading something else from the series.

I wanted to like this book more than I did and it perhaps was my fault as the reader. I went in believing although part of a series that this book could be read as a stand-alone. It’s maybe true but the book definitely has a feel like so much has happened before you get through the first chapter. You feel like it’s book 4 of a series not a stand-alone novel.
Because I felt confused about the characters motivations, I found them hard to relate to and connect with. You can’t cheer for a couple to get together if you simply don’t care one way or the other about them. I’m sure this is a great series but it should definitely be recommended to read from book 1.

Silver wanted to get the two Airstreams but she didn’t know of she can get the bank loan she needs. She had already been turned down by several banks she was on her last one/ She has a great business plan. But then Silver is turned down. And she knew she couldn’t get the Airstreams and therefore couldn’t expand her business Alcohaul. Drew and Silver had a history between them and now he was the heir to the last bank she had been turned down by. Silver and Drew had been wildly in love. Then it was time for Drew to go off to college and Silver broke up with Drew so he could be free in college. Then two months later Silver found out she was pregnant and she went to see Drew at college and told him she was pregnant eh offered to marry her but she knew he had already moved on from her. She told she was having the baby and giving it up for adoption and Silver had but she had stayed with the adoptive parents a couple months before she had their little girl -Autumn- who is now eleven. Silver had stayed in contact to Autumn’s parents and when they broke up she became friends with Autumns mother - .Leigh. Drew decided he wanted to go into business with Silver but knew he had to think of a way to make her want to do that. So he bought the Air streams and went to Silver and told her he wanted to be a minority partner and he wanted to be a real partner. Drew wanted to to help with future planning and be really involved. Silver decides to take Drew up on her offer when he steps in when she is doing a wedding and all her help is sick with food poisoning and he steps up to be a bartender and helped anyway he could with the prep of setting up and being ready to serve people at the reception. But Also Leigh was getting married and was getting married in Happily Inc where both Drew and Silver live. Silver has to tell Drew about her friendship and Autumn as she would be having Autumn stay with her while Leigh was on her honeymoon and Drew would see her and would be able to tell it was their daughter.
I enjoyed this book. I advise you to read the series in order for a smoother read. I found myself choked up at times while reading this book. I liked Silver and Drew together and how they interacted with each other.I liked the plot and pace of this book a lot. I got a little annoyed with Silver in how she kept pushing Drew away for every little thing. I felt bad for the mother Drew had and how she was but he turned out great despite her. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend it.

This is the fourth book in the Happily Inc series. I'm really enjoying this series! This second chance romance of Silver and Drew was very good. Susan Mallery's romances are always engaging and entertaining. Highly recommended!

Silver Tesdal has hopes of expanding her bar business by applying for a loan at the bank. She is disappointed when her loan request is turned down. Drew Lovato works at his grandfather's bank and when he discovers that Silver's loan request has been turned down he makes her an alternate offer. Silver accepts Drew's offer and they form a partnership to expand her business. This partnership will rekindle their past relationship and puts Silver in the position of having to reveal a secret that she has been keeping from Drew. Will this revelation destroy this new relationship?

It is of no secret that I treasure a good romance novel. The author, Susan Mallery has written a few of my absolute favorites. Sadly, "Not Quite Over You," was a story that I did not enjoy. In reality, I felt like the story was pointless from the opening chapter. I am so disappointed that this story turned out to be a dry, predictable story.

My largest complaint with this story is the characters. As individuals, Silver, and Drew were easy characters. Together, the duo was a mixture of a soured past and forced chemistry. I do not believe that the couple was capable of a happy ending. I cannot stand it when authors force their characters into a happy ending tone. The story as a whole felt pushy. The story has no room for development.

As a reader, I am over bad boys. The idea of the heroine redeeming a man who broke her heart is overrated. The idea has never made sense to me. Drew, for example, could not get Silver out of his head. As we looked to the backstory I didn't find Drew to be too apologetic. Silver meanwhile was seeing hearts whenever she looked at Drew.

Honestly, I could continue to go on and on about what I did like about this story. I did not like anything about this story. It was the wrong book for me. I wish I hadn't read it.

When they were eighteen, Silver Tesdale and Drew Levato had had a flaming affair. Then she broke up with him and sent him to college. Right after that, she discovered she was pregnant. Both decided they were too young and gave the baby up for adoption.
Twelve years later, Silver is trying to get a loan from the bank that Drew works in. But his aunt takes a special delight in turning her down. Then Drew swoops in and buys the Airstreams she had her eye on. He wants to get back into her life and figures that becoming a business partner is the way to go. Silver agrees, but only to be business partners. Drew is willing to start with that. And he's also ready to do the work that he needs in order to prove that he's grown. Of course, he'll also have to find out about the secret Silver has kept for so many years...
There was maybe a little too much drama in this book but it was, overall, a fast, fun, and fluffy read.

Whenever I need a fun and lighthearted read, I turn to Susan Mallery, and especially her Happily Inc series! This was no exception. I particularly liked the history between the protagonists, Silver and Drew. It added to the depth of character development. Overall, another cute romance story from Susan Mallery!

Thanks to Susan Mallery, Harlequin - Romance, and NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Who doesn't love a good second-chance-at-love story? Drew and Silver had an intense summer together when they were finishing high school and they fell in love hard and fast. When Drew goes away to college, Silver breaks it off, but is left with a bit of a souvenir. They both agree on how to handle it and move on with their lives, never really engaging even though they both live in the small wedding town of Happily Inc. Then Drew decides to buy into Silver's business has a partner when her loan application is turned down. As they start spending time together, the feelings they had for one another when they were children come back. Only this time, those adolescent feelings are much deeper and Silver has to tell Drew the truth about their time together way back when. I really enjoyed watching the two of them work together to figure out their new relationship both professionally and personally. But my goodness, did I hate his mother.

I have to say that Happily Inc is really growing on me. I was worried because Fool's Gold brought me so much joy, but I need not have worried. Mallery continues her signature writing style, keeping me so invested in the story and writing heartwarming characters. I think what I love most is that the girls have their girls' lunches, keeping us up-to-date with the other characters.

I'm very intrigued to see where Mallery takes us with Jasper and Wynn. Is that going to be the Christmas story? I don't know, but I'm all in.

Silver and Drew were high school sweethearts until he went off to college and she was left behind. Silver is now a successful entrepreneur looking to expand her business to the next level. Drew is being groomed to be the next president at the local bank. The two have happily co-existed keeping a polite distance until Silver applies for a business expansion loan at this bank. Is fate conspiring to give them a second chance?
Except Drew's aunt who runs the loan committee turns down the loan application. While Silver is considering her options Drew proposes a partnership which allows him to invest in her business while working together. Welcome to the quirky town of Happily Inc. the premier wedding destination in America.
From Silver's girl friends with their brash but loving advise, giraffes, matchmaking parents, themed weddings with their interesting cocktails this story will keep you laughing and crying and sometimes pulling your hair out. Of course we all held our breath when Silver's secret comes out but then kudos to Ms. Mallery, as Drew rises to the occasion.
I'm looking forward to meeting new and interesting characters as the series continues.

I enjoyed this book but have to say that the reality was somewhat of a letdown. I had been patiently waiting for Silver's story because I was intrigued by the character in previous books. I felt that the chemistry was seriously lacking between Silver and Drew. Add in the fact that they both were so incredibly, frustratingly resistant to even entertain the idea that they had actual feelings for the other. This really drove me up the wall and in the end I could not get too emotionally invested in the "romance" between these two. Other than that it was great to check back into the Happily Inc. universe, which can always be counted on for a good dose of humor and small town charm.

I probably say this on every review of this series, but I want to live in Happily Inc! This sounds like a wonderful small town and while not perfect has enough positive that draws me into the town.

I also love this story because I was part of a (large!) group that helped create one of the characters in the book and the basic story line. This was at the author's Girlfriend Getaway in 2017. We came up with Mr. Whiskers. I was rooting for a turtle, but a bunny won out. Either way, I really enjoyed seeing how the author took our ideas and weaved them into the story.

This book focuses on Silver and Drew. I admire Silver for everything she has gone through in her life and for creating AlcoHaul. What a unique idea for a business which fits perfectly into the town and Weddings Out of the Box. Drew has his own issues, mainly his mother. I am still shocked at how callous she is towards Drew and refusing to listen to what he wants from life. Thankfully his father is down to earth and can see what Drew really wants.

Silver and Drew have a past but they are able to work through it all. There are ups and downs, but if everything went smoothly with no issues then the book wouldn't be as engaging. I was a little surprised at a few events near the end, but when I thought about how certain situations played out, it is probably for the best.

I also enjoyed a little peek into Jasper and Wynn's life/relationship. There is a lot more to tell regarding Wynn and I can't wait to hear her back story. We know there is one based on her comments to Jasper and her rules for their relationship.

Happily Inc, California – Present Day

Silver Tesdal and Drew Lovato have a secret past together that few people in town are aware of. They once dated and created a child that was given up for adoption. Through the years, Silver has managed to avoid Drew but after she is turned down for a business loan for her mobile bar at his family’s bank, it is he who offers her a loan—and he wants a stake in her business. Silver’s first instinct is to turn him down, even though she desperately needs the money if she wants her business to grow. But Drew is persistent and eager to help her. He insists it is because he wants to resume their friendship, but is he after more? Despite her reservations, she finally agrees.

As Silver and Drew start to work together and grow closer, she realizes that she is going to have to tell him some info about the baby she gave away. It turns out that she has been in contact with the adoptive family—so close that the mother will be coming to Happily Inc soon with the child. How will Drew react at seeing his child? He is facing pressure from his parents to take over as head of the bank from his grandfather with the stipulation that in two years he then join their lobbying firm. This would mean leaving town—and Silver.

Happily Inc is a small town that specializes in weddings. Silver has a mobile bar company that she takes to wherever weddings are being held. She needs to expand but that requires cash. She had hoped to get a loan but Drew’s aunt turned her down at the bank. He steps in with his own money and it offers her a chance to realize her dreams. But Silver lost her heart once to Drew and fears being this close to him will have her losing it again. Yet, there is still this amazing chemistry between them that is hard to ignore. Will they give in to the passion again?

Drew was always the rich kid in town and Silver the outcast. She came from a broken home and moved to Happily Inc to live with her uncle when she was a teen. One magical summer, Drew and Silver found love, though she sensibly ended it when he went away to college. But the discovery of an unplanned pregnancy forced her to contact him and tell him about the baby. Both agreed an adoption was the right thing, but giving her child away was hard and she ended up living with the family. Their daughter, Autumn, knows Silver is her birth mother and everyone has a great relationship. The hard part now is telling Drew. Especially since Autumn will be staying with Silver for a week…

NOT QUITE OVER YOU is the perfect title for the latest book in the Happily Inc series by Susan Mallery. Despite what Silver says, she hasn’t gotten over Drew. And it appears he hasn’t gotten over her. Can they find their way back to each other and get their own happily-ever-after? Drew has lots of pressure on him, mostly from his parents, who have plotted his life from the time he was a child. But Drew has his own ideas of how he wants to spend his future. Could part of it include Silver? He wants her but she keeps trying to push him away. She has a lack of self-esteem when it comes to Drew and the Lovato family. Can she overcome it?

A heartwarming tale of reunited love and finding a way to not let others determine your future, NOT QUITE OVER YOU is one that I enjoyed and highly recommend.

Not Quite Over You is the highly anticipated story of two high school sweethearts who get a second chance of finding their forever love. Silver Tisdale let Drew go all those years ago and doesn’t regret her decision. She feels she’s over him but a secret she’s held from him might be coming to light soon and she has to face him with it. Drew Lovato understood why she let him go all those years ago but regrets and wonders what if these days. When an opportunity comes to his attention to help out Silver with her business, he hopes he can convince her to mix a little pleasure with it.

There is no doubt that there is chemistry between Silver and Drew and it was a matter of time before they were together again. It was easy to slip back into what was familiar yet not, because he’s was a boy before and now he’s all man. There is a maturity between them now and a lot of reflection of what might have been between them if they hadn’t broken up. When Silver revealed her secret to Drew, he was upset at first but then he rationalized it and put himself in her shoes to see it from her perspective.

Working together as business partners was the first step in getting these two people back together again. Being around one another stirred those feelings again but this time there was more at stake. Silver has been a recurring character in the previous stories and is one of those characters that is charismatic, strong and independent. To see a vulnerable side of her was new but yet showed so much more to who she really is behind the strong façade she shows her friends. Drew gets a chance to be there for Silver and not take the easy way out like he did before. He also grows as a character and stands up to his parents to get them to understand what he wants what to do with his life and who should be in it.

I thoroughly enjoy returning to Happily Inc and all the characters that we’ve gotten to know along the way. Susan Mallery is an author that doesn’t disappoint with her fun and heartwarming romances. I love the quirky town that she has created with Happily Inc and the individuals who make up this town. There is also another minor storyline in conjunction with the main romance and I hope that we get to see if those two characters will get their own story in the future. Not Quite Over You is sure to be a fan favorite in the Happily Inc series.

Silver and Drew's story has been simmering in the background of Happily Inc since the first book in the series. I've been anxiously awaiting to see what happened. Silver is the tough one in her group of girlfriends we've been getting to know throughout the series. Yet when you dig deep she's wounded and it's mostly an act she puts up to avoid hurt in her life. Drew, wow, his character grew with astounding leaps and bounds in this story! The two connection and their second chance is a unique story with twists and turns that keeps a reader engaged and happy.
Random thoughts from this book. I hate parents in books like Drew's mom and his aunt who was the mother in the first book to his cousin, Pallas. Another is I'm not sure if I'm going to like Wynn who is a bff the the protagonists and secondary character in the stories so far. Finally, I can't wait for the next book in the series! I've fallen in love with Happily Inc and am ready for more!
