A cute novel that provides all the fun you'd expect from a lighthearted ready by Gayle Leeson. I greatly enjoyed and if you are fans of Colgan and Kinsella, you will as well.

I am no newbie to Gayle Leeson's writings, as I LOVE her Down South Cafe cozy mystery series, however when I saw that she was putting out a different kind of story I was intrigued. I am so glad I picked this book up to read and review. This is a contemporary, woman's lit/romance story full of warm and wonderful characters. The story building was well written and a superb new world created that I didn't want to leave once I got there. The romance built between Jade and Caleb will warm you to the tips of your toes it is so sweet. I am so glad to see that this will be a series and not just a one-time book, as I can't wait to venture back to Kinsey Falls and catch-up with Jade, Caleb and Millie in the next book!

A fun read and delightful characters. I really found myself immersed in the plot line and the solving of the mystery. I would be happy to have more in a series with this author.

A cute book with an interesting story line. However, I wanted more. I wish there was more character development, more interaction, more of everything! However, I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series!

Dollycas’s Thoughts

If you need a break in your day from the stress and strife this is a perfect story for you.

An old shopping mall has been converted to a retail/residential facility. Stores on the lower floor with micro-apartments on the upper floor split into 2 sections. One side for senior citizens and the other side for young professionals. There is a community center were residents and shop owners can gather or hold events too. Jade Burt owns Nothin’ But Knit, one of the retail shops and her grandmother, Millicent Fairchild, lives in one of the apartments upstairs.

Millie on her way to visit Jade notices an animal near her path. She quickly realizes it is a baby possum and scoops it into her now empty makeup bag and rushes into the pet store next to her granddaughter’s store. Hightail It Pet Supply and Grooming. There she meets Caleb, one of the young professional residents who is working at the store while he gets his graduate degree. Millie decides then and there that she needs to bring Jade and Caleb together. They are perfect for each other.

The characters in the story are fabulous. I love the whole idea of blending these two age groups together. The YPs are so welcoming and willing to help the seniors and the seniors feel the need to bake and cook for the YPs. Having them get together for a welcoming event was delightful. The Kinsey Falls Living and Retail Community Center is a great idea and something I would love to see everywhere. The animal that brought everyone together gave the author the opportunity to shine a light on Wynnwood Wildlife Rehabilitation, a non-profit taking care of animals in need. She also shines a light on an illness and it’s side effects that usually effects seniors.

This author usually writes cozy mysteries. I am so happy she has now brought her wonderful writing style to Women’s Fiction. I am excited about this series and am anxiously awaiting book #2.

For such a short book, a novella really, this was painfully slow. There wasn’t much of a plot, or a good deal of character development.

This book was about family, friendship, and the blossoming relationship between store owner Jade and handsome graduate student Caleb. Jade was burned by a popular boy at her high school, and she never quite recovered. Her grandmother, Millie, makes it her purpose to get Jade to come out of her shell and start dating. Fortunately, Caleb and Jade are the perfect match.

There wasn’t much more to the book than this. The characters seemed shallow and flat, but the writing style was decent. The last quarter of the book was by far the best. If you can get through this book, it might actually turn out to be an enjoyable and charming read.

I picked up this quick read from Netgalley both because I am a fan of the author and because the book description appealed to me. There actually is a place near me, a center, where different "generations" interact and have the opportunity to better learn to understand each other. Although our includes some services, like a cafeteria, exercise and social areas, it does not have the residential and retail aspects of The Kinsey Falls Living and Retail Community Center. I wish it did!

The beginning, where Millie discovers and rescues a baby opossum, sets the tone for what is sure to be a light hearted and unexpected story. I love how this "small" event sets the tone for getting to know the characters and creates an opportunity for Millie to slightly manipulate her granddaughter, Jade's, life. I liked how we learned about each character bit by bit as the story unfolded.
A certain person, you'll know who I mean, I did not care for at first. She later turned out to be a very nice person and I look forward to reading more about her in the next book. I should learn not to judge too soon!

This is a fun and flirty novel to be enjoyed by all ages.

Hightail It to Kinsey Falls by Gayle Leeson is the 1st book in the Kinsey Falls series. I found this book to be a fun, cute read. Kinsey Falls is an old shopping mall that was converted to apartments for young adult on one side, seniors on the other. There is also shops below the apartments. Jade owns the knit shop, and her grandmother Millie lives in the apartments. Millie meets a nice young man, Caleb, at the pet store, and tries to set him up with Jade. I really enjoyed this book and recommend this book for anyone who enjoys a sweet romance. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I will admit that for some reason I thought this was the first book in a new cozy series. But there was no murder! Other than the absence of a killer, this was a wonderful little story that is the start to a hopefully wonderful little series. I loved the concept of the redeveloped shopping center to provide a community for seniors and young professionals both to live along with an upscale retail center. I did not love how it felt like the author was purposefully highlighting stereotypes for the two groups. It felt very forced. And while I believe her intent was to disprove the stereotypes by the end of the book, I wish she had left them out to begin with and focused more on creating the unique and interesting characters that fill Kinsey Falls.

What a fun series! Jade and her grandma Millie, and of course yummy Caleb, are an interesting group. Throw in the rest of the gang and it is hopping. The only thing I didn't see much use for was the ex-girlfriend showing up, and the cruel boy from high school. Didn't see the need for their actual showing, as the description worked enough. Other than that, I really enjoyed this book, and had a hard time putting it down. Would highly recommend and look forward to the next in the series.

Review:

The characters were well rounded and well developed. I liked all of the characters that I met and am looking forward to spending more time with them in future books. I really enjoyed the fact that the characters were a mixture of ages: some were senior citizens and some were millennials. It was kind of heartwarming to see the younger people caring for and being concerned with the welfare of the older ones.

The author did a great job in creating the setting: an assisted living retail community of the Kinsey Falls. I was really intrigued by this concept and thought it was a great idea. The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and through most of the book I felt like I was right there, walking in the knitting shop and seeing all the beautiful colors and textures. It pulled me into the story right from the beginning.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted women’s fiction. This was a feel good story and I am looking forward to reading the next one in the series.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the publisher, Grace Abraham Publishing, and NetGalley, which I greatly appreciate.

Hightail It to Kinsey Falls by Gayle Leeson is a charming story about family, love, relationships and friends.
Jade will not allow both her mother and grandmother to meddle in her love life, however when her grandmother Millie find baby possum she enlists help of Caleb, the pet store clerk. and they make fast friends. Jade immediately finds their relationship weird and thinks there is something fishy going on and she will not let him take advantage of Millie and she tries very hard to keep him at distance.
This is such heartwarming story, with lovely characters whom I enjoyed meeting very much, with realistic situations. I particularly liked that it is such a close knit community were they care deeply for each other. Beautifuly told, full of good old values it was a pleasure to read. I am looking forward to many more stories in the future.

This is a novella and not a cozy (even though the author does write cozies) but it was so enjoyable! I think what I liked best was the conversion of a former mall into micro apartments with retail on the first floor. I have read about this and think it is brilliant marketing and a great way to use an abandoned building.

There were so many great characters in this story and I can only see more depth to the characters to be developed over future books. Jade has trust issues but I think she learns to overcome them in this book. She has a fantastic grandmother that I think anyone would want to welcome into the family. And the story would not be complete without a handsome male that works his way through Jade's apprehension and into her heart.  And then there is Perry the Possum....he has a minor role but it is what brings everyone together.

I can't wait to see what is next for this series.  We give it 5 paws up

Knit shop owner’s grandma tries to hook her up with the cute guy who works in the adjourning pet shop.

This is a short read (less than 150 pages) romance with quirky characters, setting up the begin of a series.
