The story everyone has been waiting for since the first couple of Breed books. Cassie's story!!

Cassie has finally grown up and found her HEA. I love that it is a coyote the part of herself that she desperately doesn't want to acknowledge. Dog is perfect for her and knows how to push all her buttons. He is also the very best to keep her save from all the forces that was to catch and use her.

I loved this paring and book! Ms. Leigh did not disappoint at all!

This is the long-awaited story of a character than has grown up through the series. Cassandra was introduced as a child in the 3rd book of the Breed series. She was part of the storyline in other books over the years. Now it’s her turn for a story of her own. This story had some interesting twists and surprises. Characters from previous books appeared in this story. You received updates on their lives and families.

If you are a fan of the Breeds series you have been waiting for Cassie's story. I was worried it would disappoint because we had been waiting so long for it, but Cassie is a bad ass. Seeing her come out of her shell was amazing and I'm looking forward to seeing her and her mate in future books!

Cassie is the unique double high breed who can see spirits. Her whole life she has felt like she doesn't fit in. Her mate has been by her side for side knowing he is a phone call away to help her no matter what she needs.

I never would have pictured Cassie with her mate. He was a great fit for her.

Still loving this series, can't wait for more.

A much loved character finally received her HEA. This book is a sure fire hit for fans of Leigh's Breed series. A fun, fast, sexy read.

Cross Breed is number 32 in Lora Leigh's Breed Series. This is not a series you can drop in and out of, because the author returns to character arcs at many times, and the heroine of this book is a perfect example. Dedicated readers of the series have watched Cassie grow up, and have become familiar with her characteristics; she has been written as curious, independent, strong, etc. That was not the character portrayed in Cross Breed. Though I liked the story, I just couldn't reconcile who I expected with the behavior displayed. If you are a fan of the series, Cross Breed is worth reading, it is entertaining.
I received my copy through NetGalley and am under no obligation to the publisher.

IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW WHO CASSIE’S MATE IS, LOOK AWAY NOW!
It will come as no surprise, if you’ve been following us for a while, that this was an important and highly anticipated book. This is a book that has been YEARS in the making. Decades? I started reading the breeds series when it was already quite established back in 2010 and I binged through anything out at the time. That’s left personally waiting 10 years for this book. TEN YEARS! At first, there was only speculation as to who Cassie’s mate would be. And I always had one prime suspect. I know it wasn’t a popular suspect among fans at first, but when Lora Leigh actually confirmed the identity of Cassie’s mate I was jumping in glee with excitement. That was still years ago!

And so the waiting…. the problem with a book that is so highly anticipated is that it’s bound to not meet some fans expectations. We’ve had so long to build up what we want the story to be in our heads that there’s no way the author can satisfy everyone. So I was extremely scared to open this up, even when something I had waiting so long for was in my hands. I put it off for a while because of that fear. And I’m happy to say, at least for me, this HEA was everything I needed.

The romance takes center stage in CROSS BREED. At this point, Cassie and Dog have been dancing around each other for so long that this starts off with the final clash between them. There’s no beating around the bush when it comes to the mating, lust and connection. Dog is ready to claim her and she’s ready to defend that connection. This made me happy! CROSS BREED is electrifying! Two alphas finally coming together and battling for control. It was intoxicating, raw, savage, intense.

I will probably say my only complaint was that the world building in this one seemed to take a back seat and I may have wanted it to be developed a little more. The ending seemed sort of wrapped up easily. But I also see why it was important to give less page count to those events and more to cementing the connection between our main characters, which is what fans wanted. I think both Cassie and Dog have been positioned well for their roles going forward in the series, which leaves me extremely curious to see what will happen next.

CROSS BREED has reinvigorated my love for this series. I wasn’t expecting that. Just when I felt that Lora Leigh’s books were starting to drag and seem extremely repetitive, this one comes along and changes everything. The story line was tightly written, with her trademark steamy scenes but they were all strategically at moments where they added something to the advancement of the plot and connection. The best thing is that it stayed true to character with who Dog and Cassie were before and just made them work as a couple without having to change anything about them. We got to see a little more of the behind the scenes. Dog is all about behind the scenes and I loved seeing that other side with him and Dane and Jonas. These are all the powerful men that keep secrets and don’t make apologies for the harsh decisions they take. Some questions are answered, and some more pop up.

And speaking of next… Dane!!!! Please! If I can continue begging for another one that needs an HEA is him. Or what ever happened to Dr. Eli? Plus, I loved Mutt and Mongrel! I know there are now so many new players in the Breed community but I would love to see some of those old ones get the love an closure they deserve. I do see from the epilogue we are going back and wrapping up one of those loose ends apparently with a bang, so at least I’m excited to see that coming next. And for the first time in years (besides this book), yes, I’m excited for the next Breeds book!

Favorite quotes:

“You fight so many parts of yourself, Cassie,” he said softly. “I’ve always known that, just as I knew you’d need time before dealing with a mating. Stop fighting everything so hard, baby. Don’t you know, I’ll always be here, watching over you. I won’t let you get lost.”

She was his. Completely, irrevocably. God help the man or Breed who thought he’s steal her from his arms.

She was a woman worth risking his life for.
What Breed wouldn’t risk everything for his mate?

Every dream I’ve held, Cassie, You’ve brought to life.

3.75 Hearts Ok So here I go again… I picked up a book based on the name that I have heard from friends and family and wanted to give a try… However, this is part of a series…. And long series. This is in fact #23 in the series.

The writing is good and honestly it can be a stand alone, for the most part. There are some background characters that I can tell were from earlier books but it wasn’t distracting.

I can tell from other reviews that “Cassie’s story” was awaited with baited breath but I can’t say that. But I can say that the story was interesting and kept me captivated. I loved the romance of it and the suspense of it.

I don’t know if I will go back 22 books to catch up but I imagine I will continue the series from here.

Disclaimer:
I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

The wait is finally over folks! The Breed series by Lora Leigh is a favorite of mine, and I have been dying for Cassandra's story. Cross-Breed is full of danger, intrigue, sex, and passion. We have seen Cass as a little girl, but now she is all woman! And her mate is ready to finally make his move.

Another great addition to this action-packed series.

*****SPOILER ALERT***** DO NOT KEEP READING IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW MORE....

Through her senses, Cassie makes a discovery which requires her to quickly reach out to Dog, the Council Coyote... or so she thinks. In return for his help, Dog exacts a price from Cassie which will have her tied to him forever.

Cassie probably had an idea, but since there is a band on discussing 'mating heat' most of the breeds only know what they have seen of their friends who have gone through it. And as it's ever evolving and different for each couple, one can never be sure when or how it will flare up.

When Cassie gives Dog his price for helping her, she is mated to him. This mating causes dissension within the Bureau of Breeds and puts Dog out in the public eye. Dog has worked for the council and the bureau, but on his own terms and with his own agenda.

Now that he's mated to the princess hybrid, they both are in danger. Dog will have to make some hard choices and Cassie will have to trust this man she doesn't' know much about.

This book and the one before were probably the best of the series so far. Although Cassie has been secretive and cryptic through the entire series, I'm glad she finally found someone she can open up to and be who she really is.

(view spoiler)I'm mad there isn't more about Kenzi and how she responds to Dash and Elizabeth and if they've told her they didn't know about her as she thought she was the throw away child.

I'm am soooo looking for more. I went through the entire series over a three week period and it was like binging on a show on Netflix and I want more. Can't wait to get Lobo and Khileen's story. That's going to be wild. I mean... he married and slept with her mother. I'm now curious as to how they even got to the place where she's in mating heat. I'm wondering if I've missed a novella or something.

I've been a consistent follower of this series for a few years now, always excited for her next release. Even more impressed with the amazing stories that seem to get better and better. I've waited for this book for many years. Cassie has been one of my favorites since book three when she made her introduction. Watching her mature and grow through the series gave me so much hope that her book would be just as epic as herself. Honestly, i think her story was too simple though. You don't tease her character and mates HEA and then give us a half dedicated story that focusses more on the issues of her character that never seemed to be present in the other books. The best part was the writing though, Leigh always has a way about her writing. Im constantly impressed by her visuals ad character interaction There never feel two dimension and you remember characters far after their stories are told. I was a bit disappointed in this story, but I still love everything she writes, so I must continue this adventure with her!

Cross breed by Lora Leigh was a worthwhile read. It was long suspected that The character Dog was Cassie’s mate, so that fact of the story was extremely satisfying. He Does proud the alpha breeds Lora Leigh has always given her readers, more than that this hero saw and liked his mate for the alpha that she was to, so the struggle of the book was them against the outside world and not so much them against each other. Cassie was just bad ass! She owned her world and who she was even through uncertainties that her decision and choices were the right ones. She was vulnerable yet so amazingly courageous for her people and finally herself that readers will cry and rejoice at the same time. I expected Cassie and Elizabeth’s relationship to feature more, so that was a disappointment Her familial connect was not As intimate as I would have liked. Even so her parents featured quite strongly and served the story well, Dog’s ghost parents broke my heart and were the icing for me because I have wondered about Cassie’s fairy since Elizabeth’s wolf. Lora Leigh gave her readers a beautifully crafted story where a villain was really the hero all along. A heroine who readers will applaud because girl power is at its ultimate with our Cassie. Dog and Cassie will break you heart. But stick with them for they will mend it as they also heal and mend themselves, together.

Finally, Cassie’s book. We have waited a longtime for Cassie to find her happily ever after. The road is not smooth though. Cassie finds her mate and he is more than willing to claim her. Dog has waited for Cassie since she was eighteen. He would come and help her whenever she called. But Cassie is not safe. Someone is bound and determined to capture her and experiment on her, Cassie is a wolf coyote hybrid, and something more. She tries to deny her coyote half and is treated with distain by other wolves because of it. Dog allows and encourages Cassie to be who and what she is, an Alpha female. I couldn’t put this book down. I had to find out all of their secrets. Dog has many secrets as well. Throughout the story Cassie tries to deny her feelings for Dog. As they work together to find out who is after Cassie and why, we find out a secret that could change the fate of Breeds in the future.
I really enjoyed the suspense in this book. I was not disappointed but surprised as you find out why they wanted to capture Cassie. We also find out about Dog’s life, his parents, real name and who his grandfather is and the fact that he was not really a Council Coyote but a spy trying to find out who the twelve Council members were. I look forward to the next book in this series.

This was less fun than I thought it would be. I assumed it would be a book about shapeshifters, but I was wrong. The weirdness of the sexual scenes and the biology of the characters never quite got past weirdness into interesting. It just was confusing and repetitive.

FINALLY Cassandra's love story is here. I have been waiting so long I gave up hope. When my grubby little hands grasped a hold of this book, I had such high expectations. I confess; I am vexed. I feel like Ms. Leigh is edging me the entire time this story and then when the big climax is about to happen, she ruined it. I'm left unsatisfied and wondering what just happened.

The story starts out so well with flashes to the past. Cassie's mysterious lover and mate sneaks in and out of her life. When the reveal occurs, I am not sure how I feel. I did not guess who her mate would be. The sexual tension between the two is similar to the majority of the book in this series. The mating sex is as hawt as usual. Nothing unpredictable. What was surprising is how Cassie's world is turned upside down and other breeds turned against her. I never understood how the breeds could be so against the coyotes. It is sad to see that the breeds can be just as malicious and terrible as humans.

Whilst many questions are answered in this story, more plots abound and now I have new questions and new threads that need to be tied off. This series keeps me coming back over and over again. Especially as this love story feels unfinished and we have more on Cassie's twin sister. Hopefully the next book in the series will provide more answers. For those who have not read other books in this series, this is going to be hard to read as a standalone. There are many ties throughout other books. This paranormal romance is recommended to readers who enjoy intrigue and betrayals.

Title: Cross Breed
Series: Breeds Book #23
Stand Alone Title: recommended in order
Author: Lora Leigh
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Blurb: The Breeds are humans altered before conception with the DNA of the predators of Earth. But although they all carry the genetic material of beasts within them, Cassandra Sinclair stands apart. A unique mix of wolf, coyote and human, she is revered by many—but preyed upon by others. She is fiercely protected by her community…but no one manages to stop her when she slips away one day to offer her body in exchange for her sister’s safety.

The man she succumbs to surprises her by unleashing her inner animal in ways she never dreamed possible—and provokes her deep, furious rage. To Cassie’s shock, he is the mate she has long awaited. She may never be able to forgive his deception. Still, as dangerous enemies track her, and as the threat of all-out war between Breeds and the humans who despise them hovers in the air, they must join forces and hold fast to each other.

But the passionate union between them holds a potential that could change the world—and some will do anything to stop it…
Favorite quote(s): “Don’t feel sorry for me, Styx.” She stepped out and closed the door behind her. “Feel sorry for that Coyote. He’s going to need your pity far more.”
“If it would take away the pain I caused you in that garage, I’d let you slice my throat a thousand times over,” he told her then and felt the almost imperceptible shudder that raced through her. “For as long as I live, I’ll know what I did to you, I’ll live it in my nightmares, because I feel every second of it shredding my own soul.”
Thoughts: If you are a fan of this series, then you already know it is one of the most anticipated ones in the series. Everybody has been waiting to read Cassie’s story, myself included. Which means, of course, starting this book I was a bit leery…..so much hype!......can the book live up to the expectation? A couple of chapters in, I was doubtful that it was going to be pulled off. It started a bit rocky for me, for many reasons, and in the beginning it had a little of a YA feel to it that gave me pause. However, Ms. Leigh did not let me down. Not only did Cassie quickly gain a bit of maturity to her character, but she also became the most bada@$ Breed female we’ve seen thus far. The deeper I got into this book the better it became. Such a great book and well worth the wait. Twenty-three plus books in, and I’m still eager for the next one!
Rating: B+

Cross Breed is the twenty-third installment of the Breed series by Lora Leigh.

If you’ve read the previous installments of the Breed series, you’d know that our dear Cassie, made her first appearance as an eight-year-old (I believe) in book three. I’ve been an avid reader to this series, but I’ll admit, I took a bit of a sabbatical from this series. However, when I found out that Cassie was going to have her own book, I was thrilled and couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.

And it was the best book to dive into!

AMAZING! Cross Breed had all the feels and so much more. I don’t even know where to begin. Lora Leigh did a wonderful job establishing a world that only our imagination can go to. By the time I reached for my Kindle, I was way past my bedtime, but I didn’t care. Once I read the first few chapters, I was a goner. Sleep was out of the way as I dove into a thrilling, yet determined female story.

I highly recommend for those who’ve read the Breed series consistently. However, I felt like you can also read this as a standalone.

I was so excited that Cassie finally has her own book and Lora Leigh did not disappoint. Cassie and Dog's story was so good that I wanted to immediately read it again. And the teaser for the next installment has me waiting impatiently.

Lora Leigh continues her series on the Breeds with Cross Breed, a sensuous paranormal about a coyote/wolf cross breed. Cassie has found her mate in a Coyote breed called Dog, but is on the outs with many of the breeds due to prejudice against cross breeds. In an escalating crisis Cassie has to find her place in breed society and settle her relation with her mate. Read and enjoy.
