However, suspects abounded because he wanted to put several store managers out of business to build a downtown arcade. Good mystery with eccentric characters set in a B&B which houses a ghost! Love that the two main characters are grandmother and granddaughter! Looking forward to the next one in the series. I received a copy from NetGalley and the publisher and this is my honest opinion.

This is the third book in the series and I find myself enjoying it more and more with each book. The story of Melanie and her search for her mother is becoming more interesting to me. I hope we can learn more about Orville in future books, either way I have enjoyed meeting these characters and I will definitely continue reading this series.

Thank you Netgalley and Crooked Lane Books for a copy of this story.

Book three of the Merry Ghost Inn series finds owners Melanie West & Liza Harris' friend Doug at odds with a developer intent on building a games arcade in the center of their newly adopted town of Sully's Landing. Melanie is Liza's divorced granddaughter together they purchased the haunted bed and breakfast situated on a beach in coastal Oregon. This book had a lot of characters and as a new reader, I found myself getting a bit lost at times with not only who was who but what they did for a living and town positions as well. Ben, Melanie's potential romantic interest is a police officer. We also receive a shocker at the end about Melanie's mom missing since she was four years old. I think this must have been a thread in previous books.

The book also includes one recipe for Blueberry French Toast.

Disclaimer: I liked this book but I just couldn't seem to make up my mind whether four or five stars were more appropriate. I ultimately decided to go with four as I feel coming in at book three left me too out of the "loop" on a few things.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.

This is book three in The Merry Ghost Inn Mystery Series. I have read the previous books and enjoy the entire series. This book can be read as a stand alone for new readers to the series.
Thank you for the ARC which does not influence my personal opinion .

In this next in series our protagonist Liza Harris is running her Inn with her Granddaughters help in the quaint town of Sully's Landing . The Inn has a resident ghost "Orville" which communicates with Liza and is very humorous. he also helps her solve crimes .
A developer approaches the town and wants to build a development that most of the townspeople disagree with due to the fact they love their small town as it is and do not want growth. After a heated series of incidents the developer is found dead. A local man is charged and Liza is determined to clear his name and find the right suspect. As she develops her case her ghost Orville offers clues and she soon has a well crafted series of clues and whodunit.
This is a delightful series with humor, a perfect set of supporting charcters and well crafted sleuth. .I enjoyed this next in series and look forward to the next book.

This story takes place in a very small town by the coast of Oregon called Sully’s Landing. Liza owns a B&B with her granddaughter Melanie. The inn has a laughing ghost and is therefore called The Merry Ghost Inn.
It’s a small town but a real estate developer has plans to build an arcade in the center of town to bring in tourist revenue. Many townspeople seem wary of this idea and don’t want to lose the small businesses already there or let their town get run by tourists.
The real estate developer is murdered and the prime suspect is Liza and Melanie’s friend. The ladies, with a some help of the laughing ghost, embark on solving the crime and setting their friend free. This leads to lots of hijinks, suspect pool building and some potentially harmful situations! Will they be able to solve the mystery before one of them gets hurt?
I’ve never read this author before and found this to be a very light and cheery read. Some of the beginning did drag for me but it picks up momentum and races to the finish. This is apparently the third book in the Merry Ghost Inn series. I didn’t feel that I missed out on anything having not read the books prior to this. I’d recommend this book to small town paranormal cozy mystery lovers.

This book was provided to me by Crooked Lane Books through NetGalley for my review.

"Be Our Ghost" is the third book in the Merry Ghost Inn Mystery Series, but the first I've read. I had no problems reading this one first.
The Merry Ghost Inn is a Bed & Breakfast in a small seaside town. It's owned and operated by Liza and Melanie (grandmother and granddaughter). As expected, Liza and Melanie are trying to solve a murder.
There is a ghost, but he's a harmless resident at the B&B.
This is a delightful cozy mystery! I loved it the characters and the story.

This was a great book and perfect for a fall day. Kate. her grandmother are the perfect duo. I think the ghost is hilarious and adds a great element to the story. The Oregon coast and Bed and Breakfast are great settings. I like the pace of the story and mystery. This book is the third in the series but it can be read as a stand alone. I highly recommend this book.

In September I started to read Be Our Ghost by Kate Kingsbury. I enjoyed this book and love the idea of A Merry Ghost Inn. The laughing ghost, though unnerving at times is just enough paranormal to keep you believing that the inn is haunted. I love the relationship between Grandmother and Granddaughter, and the mystery was very good. I love the cover of this book as well!

Even though this is the third in this charming series, it can easily be read as a stand alone. The pace is leisurely as befits a lovely small town on the Oregon coast. Melanie and her grandmother, Liza, run a bed and breakfast inn called the Merry Ghost. Yes, it's a haunted inn but the ghost is not seen, only heard, mostly laughter. They call him Orville and, while out of sight, he does have an hand, so to speak, in solving the murder of a developer who wanted to buy up downtown property to turn it into an arcade. When the prime suspect turns out to be Liza's close friend, Doug, both Liza and Melanie wade right in to track down the killer. They may only ask a whole lot of questions as they snoop around but the questions are on target and they are a pair of very observant snoops. Too observant for the killer who tries to stop them by rather extreme means. As the police want them to stay out of the case and Melanie is dating one - Ben - these ladies have to watch how they go. At least their attitude isn't like some amateur sleuths who think they can do a better job than the police can. The detective in charge is one of their least favorite people and he is focused on the wrong suspect. So, they snoop/investigate.
There is a sweet sub story, as well. I will not say any more about that as I don't want to give anything away. I'm ready for the next installment of the life of Melanie and Liza...and yes, even Orville. What is that ghost hiding, hmmm?

This is the third in The Merry Ghost Inn Mystery series. Melanie and her Grandmother Liza own a bed and breakfast. When a developer is murdered the blame is put on Lisa's friend Doug. Lisa and Melanie go to prove his innocence.
This is the first book I have read in the series but I was not lost by reading out of order. The ghost in the story wasn't scary so that should not let mystery readers be out off.

Be Our Ghost by Kate Kingsbury is the third book of the cozy Merry Ghost Inn mystery series. Each book in the series contains it’s own mystery within so they can be read as a standalone if choosing to do so. However, there is some character building that goes on from book to book so reading in order would give the full story.

The Merry Ghost Inn centers around Melanie and Liza who have purchased the B&B that had it’s own little twist of being possibly haunted. Melanie and her grandmother, Liza, have nicknamed their ghost Orville who has helped the pair along as they have already solved two murders since buying the B&B.

The ladies have been enjoying running their busy B&B in the small town of Sully’s Landing but become worried when a real estate developer shows up in town with plans to open an amusement arcade right in the middle of town they aren’t the only ones worried. What they never expected though was for the developer to be murdered and a good friend of theirs become the number one suspect leading them to interfere in yet another investigation in the small town.

Another great installment of this wonderful series full of fun and mystery. You just can’t top the quirkiness of having a laughing ghost that plays a small part in each read and just may help along the investigation. Of course Melanie and Liza are great character too along with the other side characters and there’s always plenty of suspects to look at to discover the murderer. Definitely recommend checking out this fun series.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

Be Our Ghost by Kate Kingsbury is the 3rd book in the Merry Ghost Inn series, and a good addition. Melanie and her grandmother, Liza, are owners of a bed and breakfast. The town is in a uproar over a real estate developer who wants to build an arcade on the beautiful cliff, when he turns up dead, the mystery begins. Not only is this book really funny, it has a great mystery, with exciting activity. There are twists and turns around every corner. I found this book to be a quick read, with a well developed plot and characters. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. If you love cozy mysteries, I strongly recommend this book.

I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I thought this was a brilliantly fun cozy. I love how the ghost of the inn has been given such a wonderful personality despite not saying anything. I enjoyed the blooming romance and how it didn't get pushed in your face. I also truly enjoyed the trio who make up the 3 who take care of the inn. There weren't many clues provided throughout the story but they were there though definitely subtle. I enjoyed the genuineness of the difference between generations of characters. I couldn't help trying to fantasy cast the characters in my head as I read along and that is always a bonus with me. I love when a book is that alive. I also really admired how there's a story arc that is being played out among the series' books and I'm interested in where it's going to go. All in all, this is a terrific cozy and I definitely recommend it.

Thank you to Kate Kingsbury, Crooked Lane Books, and NetGalley for allowing me the chance to read this book and share my thoughts and opinions with others.

This is the 3rd installment of the Merry Ghost Inn series. In this book, no murder happens at the Merry Ghost, however, a real estate developer is killed after a meeting regarding his arcade deal. The chief suspect is Doug the owner of the pub/hardware store that Liza and Melanie frequent all the time. He also is the “potential love” interest for Liza who he charmingly calls English. Lots of suspects as the developer was pushing the council and mayor for the vote in his favor. Liza and Melanie get everyone nervous with all their questions and then Max is kidnapped and returned with a note to butt out or else. Then the brakes are cut on their car and they are almost killed but Liza will not give up until she finds the truth and clears Doug’s name. There were clues and lots of red herrings and when you finally figure out who it is you can see where the author had planted them so I never guessed who it was until the very end. Great addition to this series and look forward to the next addition. Do hope Melanie and Ben move forward with their relationship and she can share her secret with him.. moving a little too slow.

Be Our Ghost by Kate Kingsbury was a quick, cozy little mystery. If you are looking for a mystery that is light, feel-good and easy to read, this book is for you. There was not a lot of character development in this story, )I'm thinking because it was not the 1st of the series), but it wasn't necessary to enjoy the plot and characters. Thank you Netgalley for providing me with this ERC in return for an honest review.

In Be Our Ghost, Kate and her grandmother, Liza, run a bed and breakfast in coastal Oregon. When a local businessman is found dead, they investigate to exonerate a local business owner. Soon they are uncovering oodles of secrets in this fine cozy mystery.

Norman wants to open a large arcade in small town, Sully’s Landing. When he is found dead shortly before the planning commission’s vote, suspicion falls on commission member, Doug. Doug, the outspoken owner of the town’s hardware store/pub/restaurant, has venomously opposed the arcade and was seen near the scene of the crime. Liza is convinced that Doug cannot be the murder. As Liza and Melanie investigate, they are assisted by Cindi, their millennial assistant at the inn, and Orville, the inn’s mysterious laughing ghost.

I loved the small town setting in coastal Oregon. All the characters were believable. The mystery was clever and the writing well done. My only complaint was that I want more of Orville’s history and motivation. Why is he haunting the inn? How do they know his name is Orville? Also, other than cooking breakfast, we rarely see the mechanics of running the inn, which would be an interesting subplot.

Be Our Ghost is the third book in the Merry Ghost Inn Mystery series but it works fine as a stand-alone. The characters are engaging and the mystery is intriguing. It is an excellent choice for a blustery fall afternoon read for cozy mystery fans. 4 stars!

When an arrogant billionaire with lots of enemies turns up dead the suspect list is long. However, when Liza and her granddaughter Melanie find out their good friend Doug is the number one suspect they feel it is necessary to start asking questions around town. Someone seems determined to stop them and takes action against Liza and Melanie but it doesn't stop them from searching for answers.

This story is a bit predictable but is still quite entertaining with an enticing setting. Thanks to Crooked Lane Books and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

A solid, well laid out cozy. I did feel that the pace was a bit slow and failed to keep me interested.
