Paranormal cozies have rapidly become my favorite genre right after urban fantasy, and this latest in the Merry Ghost Inn series fit the bill for my reading pleasure. Just like most other cozies/paranormal cozies, this one flowed smoothly, wasn’t overly complicated, and there wasn’t much violence/blood. A great, fun plot was on the menu, and I enjoyed every second of the book. I hadn’t read the ones before this one, but I was in no way confused as the author did a great job of giving information as it was needed. I can’t wait to read more! Highly recommend! I was provided the e-book which I voluntarily reviewed.

I had a hard time connecting with the characters and the mystery in Be Our Ghost. Perhaps if I had read the two previous books I would have enjoyed this story more.
There was a lot going on - the mystery, a long distance search for Melanie's mother, and various minor dramas with employees and townsfolk.
I had hoped for more interaction with the ghostly resident of Melanie and Liza's B & B, but he seemed to be more of an afterthought.
Be Our Ghost wasn't a bad cozy mystery; it didn't live up to my expectations.

Be Our Ghost is the third book in the Merry Ghost Mystery series.

Liza Harris owns the Merry Ghost Inn and with the help of her granddaughter, Melanie West has been doing very well since opening. The inn also has a resident ghost, Orville, who only laughs once in a while and when the spirit moves him will provide clues for solving of mysteries that might come up from time to time. But things in the quaint little town of Sully’s Landing are in turmoil.

Jason Northwood, a real estate developer, is trying to get the residents to support to build an arcade in the business district of town. Sully’s Landing does enjoy a decent summer tourist crowd but the residents feel that for the most part, the little town will end up being overrun with tourist, to say nothing of the loss of several longtime downtown businesses. Northwood has scheduled a meeting in his hotel room of the towns council members to try and convince them to support his development plan. A few hours after the meeting broke up Northwood’s body is found in his room.

Everyone at the meeting is considered persons of interest, but soon the police have fingered Shaun, owner of the hardware cafe and a good friend of Liza, as the murderer. Liza and Melanie both feel that Shaun is not the killer and set off on their own investigation.

Once again Kate Kingsbury provides the reader with a well-plotted and nicely paced story with a cast of wonderful characters and one ghost. The ghost, Orville, only contributes a few laughs and will leave some clues for Melanie and Liza to follow.

A delicious sounding recipe is also included in the book.

I will definitely be watching for the next book in this enjoyable series.

Melanie and her grandmother Liz own bed-and-breakfast called The Merry Ghost Inn. They also have a dog called Max and as the B&B’s name suggests, there’s a ghost named Orville. A real estate developer wants to build a amusement arcade, which locals are not very fond of. When the estate developer is found dead and Melanie and Liz’s friend Doug is the main suspect, they want to clean his name and start looking into the case. The closer they get, the more the actual killer wants to silence them.

It’s the third book in The Merry Ghost Inn series, but first that I read. I really liked the relationship between Melanie and Liza as well as the dog Max and the ghost Orville. The mystery aspect was well written and kept me guessing until the end. Considering the plot, there should be a next book in the series that I eagerly waiting for. I was a bit hesitant about the paranormal aspect in the book, but it was rather fun and I ended up really liking the ghost. It was a great book and would recommend it to other readers, who like cozy mysteries or want to read a good book with mystery in it.

It was the first book I read in this series and found it entertaining and enjoyable.
I loved the cast of characters, human/ghostly/canine, and the plot was engaging and kept me guessing till the end.
The book is well written and the plot is sound. The paranormal aspect is quite funny and very light.
There was just one thing I didn't like: the knight in shining armour saving the heroine. As the two main characters are quite strong women it could have been avoided.
Recommended!

This is an enjoyable paranormal cozy series set in the Pacific Northwest. Like most B&B settings, there are yummy recipes included at the end of the story. This is book 3 in the Merry Ghost Inn series and Melanie and Liza are making sure Doug isn't the major suspect in the murder of a real estate developer who wants to change the small town into a tourist mecca. The resident ghost, Orville, helps out while keeping the tourists entertained at the B&B. Can stand alone but if you like this one, you'll want to catch up with the previous 2. Fun to read with a good mystery to solve. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This is the third book in the Merry Ghost Inn Mystery series. I've read them all and they're all, including this one, enjoyable and funny cozy mysteries with fun plots and quirky characters.

Melanie and her grandmother Liz own a B&B where the ghost is part of the attraction. A developer comes to town and is killed and one of Melanie's friends is the suspect. She has to find the killer to clear his name.

The best part of this book is the relationship between Melanie and her grandmother Liz, it's charming and sweet.
I recommend this book.

Melanie West and her grandmother, Liza, run the Merry Ghost Inn in Sully's Landing. The quiet, comfortable atmosphere of Sully's Landing is a real tourist draw. People who want some serious R&R enjoy the small town atmosphere. Unfortunately, a local wants to change the vibe of the town. Jason Northwood is proposing a large arcade and other changes that might transform the town into one of those cookie-cutter, bright lights, jangling tourist trap towns. Three buildings downtown are going to be demolished to make way for the arcade and many local residents and business owners are upset. But how can anybody fight a billionaire? It seems Northwood's plans will go through no matter what locals think. Well....at least until he is found stabbed to death after a meeting about the arcade plans. All of the local residents who attended the meeting are suspects. Who decided to block Northwood's plans by killing him? When local pub owner Doug Griffith is arrested, Melanie knows he is innocent. She has to find the real killer!

I enjoyed Be Our Ghost, the third book in the Merry Ghost Inn Mystery series. My favorite character is Cindi Metzger, the assistant who moves to the beat of her own drum. She had a rough childhood but got past it. Now she loves to express her individuality through her clothes, jewelry and tattoos. She has her own sense of style and doesn't care what anyone else thinks about it. I enjoy her as a character...quite feisty but loyal to her friends. :) Melanie and Liza are both intelligent and determined women.

The story kept my attention from start to finish. The mystery was engaging and had plenty of suspects and twists. The story was nicely paced....not too slow and not too fast. All in all, a nice addition to this cozy series. I will definitely be reading more!

Be Our Ghost by Kate Kingsbury is the third installment in A Merry Ghost Inn Mystery series but as with previous books it can be read as a standalone.
Another delightful mystery in which Melanie and Liza try to solve a death of well known real estate developer who ends up dead in their little town. Things become hectic especially when Liza's friend becomes a chief suspect.
But someone is not happy at all with their asking questions so much so that they kidnap Max, Melanie's dog and send them back with a threatening note.
Well written story with a clever plot. Absorbing and riveting tale with well known and likable protagonists and delightful setting.
Many twist and turns keep it interesting and will keep readers guessing until the end.

Melanie and her grandmother Liza run a bed and breakfast. They have their very own ghost as well. Changes are a-foot in Sully's Landing. A real estate developer wants to put in a tacky arcade that will destroy the ambiance and quaint feel of the small town. When he is found dead, Liza's friend is considered the number one suspect. So the two women set out to find the real killer.

I enjoyed this mystery. Liza is quirky and that adds to her appeal. She is always on the go and never calls quits. Melanie is worried about her grandmother is a a bit more cautious. Then there is Max, the dog. Ever present and give licks and cuddles. That characters are all likeable and fun. The little town of Sully's Landing sounds like a typical coastal town in Oregon which is fun as I imagine what it looks like. The writing and plot kept me turning the pages. It was easy to read and very engaging.

I would read another book by this author.

Be Our Ghost by Kate Kingsbury is about The Merry Ghost Inn Bed and Breakfast. The inn is going well until an annoying real estate developer shows up and is ultimately found dead. The story takes place on the Oregon Coast. The Inn has a resident ghost tenant who happens to live in the merry beyond. The ghost tries to help solve the mystery by dropping clues. The story was nicely plotted with a well executed mystery. The story is full of warm, home town characters. Thank you to Net Galley for sending me an advanced reader’s copy to read.

Be Our Ghost, the 3rd Merry Ghost Inn mystery by Kate Kingsbury, is quite possibly the best of the series so far. Once more we get to go along for the ride with Melanie and her grandmother, Liza, as they get involved in another murder mystery. Not only do we get a great murder mystery plot, but we also learn more about the fate of Melanie's mother, which has been an ongoing mystery throughout the series. I won't reveal any more plot details, but if you've read either, or both, of the previous books in this series, you'll definitely enjoy this one. I absolutely cannot wait until the next book to see what happens next with Melanie, Liza, and their Merry Ghost Inn.

Poor Doug. He's a shop owner just a couple of doors down (her grandmother has a crush on him) and he's been accused of killing the real estate developer. Sure he talks big, but he'd never actually kill anybody, would he?

Crooked Lane Books and Net Galley allowed me to read this book for review (thank you). It will be published October 19th.

Melanie and Liza are told to mind their own business and let the police investigate. They seem to be making no progress and Liza wants to prove it wasn't Doug, so they talk to folks. And then they find the brake line on the car was cut and they almost careen off a cliff. But they don't stop their questions.

Soon they find themselves on the wrong end of a gun. Maybe their days of asking questions is over...

Melanie has a lot on her plate: sharing the running of the bed and breakfast with her outrageous grandmother Liza and only one semi reliable employee, the ongoing search for her mother who vanished somewhere in England almost thirty years ago, and now Liza is investigating the murder of a vile man who only valued money because her friend is the chief suspect and this leads to threats and warnings, and then there's the quixotic house ghost.
The mystery is well done and the characters certainly are, the publisher's blurb gives hints and there is no need for spoilers, just enjoy! I really enjoyed reading it even if it did force me to stay up way too late!

I've enjoyed all the books written by Kate Kingsbury and this is an excellent addition to the series.
Melanie and Lisa make a great detective duo and their witty antics left me laughing.
This is easier read as part of the series or as a stand alone.

Melanie and her grandma Liza own a bed and breakfast business with their own ghost.
When a real estate developer is murdered after a town council meeting. Liza’s friend Doug is the main suspect. Liza and Melanie must investigate themselves to clear Doug.
This is a lovely small town mystery complete with ghost and dog in on the act to solve the mystery. Melanie and her grandma have a lovely relationship which really brings the characters to life.

BE OUR GHOST, by Kate Kingsbury, started out at a slow pace, but picked up a little as a mystery with a touch of romance and a ghost that loves to laugh a lot is introduced to our story. Is this ghost really there to haunt people or is he there to try and help solve a mystery? Does anyone really know why he is there with all of his laughter? Because that is all he seems to do through-out the story. And, his laughter seems to annoy Liza a lot.
As I read further and got involved in the situation at hand, I noticed a lot of suspense was beginning to sneak up on me as a murder had taken place, and a grandmother, Liza Harris, along with her granddaughter, Melanie West, had just stepped in to help solve the crime. Even though the two were told to stay out of it. Are these two heading for danger? If so, how will they get out of it? Will their snooping cause more of a problem instead of helping and cause them to wind up hurt or worse? Great characters and a great who-done-it you won't soon forget!
