Cozy Christmas story that put me in the mood for the holidays. I enjoyed the characters and setting.

I'm not sure what to say about this book.

Felicity is in St Moritz to show off her latest fashion collection. Her mind is occupied with the fact that her boyfriend did not propose at Christmas. She also has an accident and that brings a lovely doctor onto the scene. Their romance and chemistry was pretty bland. Actually, it was hard to find the romance between the two.

Then there is also Nell, a model, who is planning her dream wedding, but her divorced parents hate each other and that makes planning a wedding a nightmare.

I'm still not sure this is a romance novel. The book was crammed full with Nell's parents and her wedding planning and Felicity's relationship to her non-proposing boyfriend.

The love story was a bit dry but the gorgeous setting made up for it.
I liked the characters but the plot got a bit lost at times.

Anita is a new author to me and I hope to read her often. Story that is a vivid look at romance. Of course being in such a beautiful snowy setting helps love along.

This is my first book by her.
What I love the most was the setting.
The live story although cute, was at point too predictable.
Nice for a chilly afternoon,

Christmas at the Chalet by Anita Hughes is a 2018 St. Martin’s Griffin publication.

Felicity has arrived at the beautiful chalet in St. Moritz for the biggest fashion show of her career, thus far.

But Felicity is a bit distracted by the disappointing developments in her personal life. Adam, the man she has been seeing for six years, fails to give her a ring for Christmas, giving her the gift of a spa day instead. When she confronts him, he once again puts her off, prompting her to take stock of the relationship.

Complicating matters even further, Felicity has little accident, which brings her face to face with a gorgeous doctor, named Gabriel.

Meanwhile, Felicity’s model, Nell, is planning her dream wedding, but her divorced parents, who despise one another threaten to ruin her big day.

For me, this story is a mixed bag. First, if you are going strictly by the title, be aware that this story doesn’t begin until the day after Christmas.

Secondly, for such a short book, the author has several storylines going at once. There is a load of drama in this story, the kind of, sort of, love triangle with Felicity, Adam, and Gabriel, along with Nell’s family and the saga behind her parent’s contentiousness.

Lastly, the romance in the story is very flat. I don’t mind low steam romance novels at all. In fact, these days I find them quite refreshing. But this one didn’t have enough romance or chemistry, especially with the good doctor. The bulk of the book was more focused on Adam and Felicity and Nell and her parents.

That said, the drama was absorbing enough to hold my attention and the fashions were fun to read about, too. But the scenery is the star of the show!!

Overall, this story may not be especially memorable, but it was an enjoyable enough way to spend an afternoon curled up with a cup of tea.

Felicity Grant is a wedding dress designer from New York who is spending the week between Christmas and New Year in St Moritz with her business partner Raj for her bridal fashion show, leaving her boyfriend Adam back at home. After slipping over in the snow Felicity meets Gabriel, a doctor, who comes to her rescue.

This was a nice, pleasant read and got me in the mood for Christmas with its twinkly lights, and the fantastic description of St Moritz in wintertime.

I particularly loved the story of Nell's rowing parents...Nell is one of the models who secretly invites both of her divorced parents to join her in the resort to try and resolve their differences so they both attend her wedding.

A lovely, festive read.

This was a cute holiday story. I’m not sure if I’d call it a Christmas book. It was fun picturing the whole scene in St. Moritz.

Christmas at the Chalet is a nice book to read during the holiday season. The book centers on two stories- Felicity and Nell.

Felicity is a wedding dress designer who has gone to St Moritz for a fashion show at the holidays, after breaking up with her boyfriend because of his lack of a proposal. She meets a handsome doctor and questions her future. St Moritz is the true star of the story- the place sounds absolutely magical and amazing.

Nell is a woman getting married and struggling to get her divorced parents to attend the wedding. So she Parent Traps' them into going to St Moritz at the same time so she can spend time with them and change their minds. This is truly the best part of the story, since it had true character development and strong recollections.

I was frustrated with the Felicity and Adam story and something about it just seemed so off. But the Nell story kept me thoroughly interested.

Felicity Grant is a wedding dress designer and is ready for her boyfriend to propose so she can use her work knowledge to design her own dream dress. One of her main models Nell is getting ready for her own wedding but with her parents having a more than strained relationship both are threatening to not attend the same wedding but would prefer her to have two weddings. Each of these ladies are in St. Moritz for Felicity's fashion show and the drama unfolds.

For Anita Hughes books most of the time I either really love them or completely dislike them. This one was good but not her best. I liked the main characters but for me the book was just fine. There were times when I think the book could have been edited more and it just didn't have finesse and the pacing just seemed off in moments.

The characters were for me what kept me reading this book. I adored Nell and the drama that she was dealing with. Weddings are already drama filled and then to add parental drama just makes it even more stressful. Felicity was a great character, but I didn't completely love her storyline, there were a few times where it was a little cringey!

I am still going to continue to read Anita Hughes and hope that I like the next one better than this one.

I fell in love with the setting of this story! Ms. Hughes descriptions always make me feel like I have lived them. This story was glamorous, fashionable and put me right into the holiday spirit!

Another Christmas read completed! I have quite the stack of Christmas reads and have been enjoying every one of them!

Christmas at the Chalet, set in beautiful St. Moritz, is the story wedding dress designer Felicity Grant and her model Nell, as they prepare for an upcoming runway show. Will Felicity convince Adam to propose to her or will she fall for the young, hot doctor. Will Nell get the wedding of her dreams, with both her parents in attendance?

In some ways I really enjoyed this story. It was well written and I felt swept away to the Alps at Christmas time. However, there were just a few too many stories going for me between Nell and Felicity, and the back story of Nell’s parents. And I just didn’t find the romance between Felicity and the doctor believable. Regardless it was a fun, cute story, and I read it in a matter of hours!

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book!

Beautiful descriptions make this Christmas story one that I wish I could live. The author does a wonderful job with the setting and I enjoyed this book. I'm not a huge Christmas book person, but this one was fun and kept my interest.

Thank you to Ms. Hughes, the publisher and Netgalley for a quick read to get me into the holiday spirit.

Christmas at the Chalet began slowly, but picked up speed and kept my interest throughout. I have had Anita Hughes on my to be read pile for a while now… certainly glad I have had the opportunity to read one of her books. I certainly will read more! Christmas at the Chalet has all of the major components I look for in a romance… mainly a good love story (or in this case, two), likeable characters, throw in a swoon worthy moment or two, hope and of course a twist or two.

The tale begins with Felicity in St. Moritz seven days before the fashion show. Due to conflicting work schedules, Adam, Felicity’s boyfriend, is not able to join her. In fact, just before she left they had a fight (Felicity wanted to become engaged, Adam not so much – at least at this time in his life). So Felicity is in St. Moritz concentrating on her big fashion show and fretting about her relationship. Meanwhile, one of the top models, Nell, is trying to convince both her parents (they had a less than amicable divorce is an understatement) to attend her wedding.

We get a day by day update of how things are going in St. Moritz for both Felicity and Nell. Felicity was just a tad bit annoying in her back and forth about her feelings for Adam, though I guess who could blame her as all she wanted was her boyfriend to propose. At first, I was surprised at the friendship Felicity fostered with the local doctor, Dr. Gabriel Innes and how she sought him out when she had to sort through her feelings about Adam’s behaviour. That can only lead to trouble… Not only was Felicity worried about her relationship with Adam, she was also concerned about the fashion show as success her could virtually insure her place as a prominent bridal dress designer. Added pressure – Felicity had to come up with two unique designs to submit for an opportunity to be in Bergdorf’s spring bridal show. Now this is a BIG deal… and Felicity did not want to share this opportunity with Raj (her business partner) until her designs were accepted.

Nell’s storyline involving her parents was very entertaining. I loved how she juggled both parents in St. Moritz so that neither knew the other was in town. I got totally exhausted with all Nell’s juggling! I was sceptical as to whether she could pull it off. Definitely upped the fun factor in the story.

The descriptions of the wedding dresses that Felicity designs were so descriptive and comprehensive – I could just visualize her creations. I could hardly wait to see what happened at the fashion show. I continually felt as if I was in St. Moritz enjoying all the town has to offer.

Christmas at the Chalet is a feel good contemporary romance that kept my interest throughout. There were twists and turns (and surprises) that happened along the way to a happy ending or two.

I would like to say that I will definitely be on the look out for more romance books by this author as my interest was kept throughout, the storytelling was engaging and the characters and their challenges were believable. Thank you Anita Hughes for penning such a delightful story.

This was the first book I've read by Anita Hughes and I really enjoyed it.

There is a lot happening in Christmas at the Chalet- a fashion show, uncertain relationships, a wedding, romance- just to name a few.

I loved the flow of this book, the conversations, different points of views and the perspective of different characters.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Ms Hughes!

Once again, Anita Hughes transports the reader into another luxurious location. This time, we visit St Moritz during the winter holidays. Hughes does not disappoint with her description of the location. She rallly makes it feel like one is visiting the places she describes. However, the storyline fell a bit flat for me this time around. I found the characters to be predictable and perhaps even a bit stereotypical. It certainly wasn’t a bad read, just not one of my favorites.

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the copy of the eBook in exchange for my honest review.

They say it’s all about location, location, location, and that’s so true in this story! I loved the descriptions of each space, both indoors and out. The people who populated the story were just perfect.
Felicity is in the fashionable resort of St. Moritz, organizing her fashion show. As a standout designer in the glitzy world of luxurious bridal gowns she is very excited about this, which is to be her biggest show ever.
Felicity’s personal life is not going as well as her professional life, and disappoints abound mainly due to her boyfriend.
The ending is perfect for this story and these characters. I loved it.
