This is a sweet magical Christmas story which involves not one but two ladies hoping for a Christmas miracle

I received a copy from Netgalley and I am voluntarily leaving my own honest opinion

Christmas at the Chalet by Anita Hughes is a contemporary romance story that of course takes place at the time of the Christmas holiday. Having read several of Anita Hughes books already I somewhat knew what to expect out of the story which for me is normally an amazing setting but a so-so romance and this one wasn’t an exception to my feelings in that regard.

As someone that loves to virtually travel through the books I read I cannot ever go wrong picking up one by Anita Hughes. Her settings are done so wonderfully that it feels as if you are seeing and experiencing the exotic locales right along with the characters and this one was no exception to that.

However, again I found the romance in this book to be a little too overly angsty and not really one that I believe to be a true happily ever after. Instead I find myself craving a bit of popcorn to watch the drama unfold while reading. With this particular story you have three different areas to follow along and I questioned whether it was more a hot mess than anything.

Felicity is a wedding dress designer who has traveled to a ski chalet in St. Moritz to put on a huge show but right before Felicity and her boyfriend get into a fight. Turning to a local doctor Felicity looks for relationship advice but instead starts to fall for the doc. Along with Felicity on the trip is Nell who is actually getting married but can’t get her divorced parents to cooperate and attend the wedding together so we are also following Nell in the present and looking into her parents past.

Now if I were to grade strictly on the beauty of St. Moritz this would get a 5 but instead I need to take into account the believability of a character being so in love with her six year relationship she thought they should marry but ends up tossing that aside for another man along with two mature (or immature) adults that would let their daughter down on her special day. So I ended up with 3 stars on this one in the end after wrapping all of it up into one package.

Christmas at the Chalet by Anita Hughes

Glitz and glamor and sparkle. Name dropping of the most elite brands.

This book has two different stories running. Partially three.
Nell is engaged and wants both of her parents at the wedding. Their divorce is bitter so they refuse to attend and if the other does. Flashback scenes tell of the romance and marriage of Patty and Todd, her parents.

Felicity wants to get engaged but Adam isn’t ready. She commiserated and gets advice from Gabriel, the local doctor in St Moritz.
Without spoilers, Felicity finally gets a chance to talk with Adam, but refuses. Then turns around and asks for a Christmas miracle. She is convinced that Adam doesn’t love her but keeps putting off a discussion. She doesn’t know what she wants and I found this frustrating.
And Nell’s parents? Obviously still in love, but shame on them for not putting her first for her wedding.

In the end it’s a romance. The wedding of Nell and Eliot was lovely.

Do you believe in love? Felicity has so much going for her at the moment, she is doing a wedding show in St. Moritz. But even though it is a big honour she is all confused about her relationship with Adam. She loves him but he isn't ready to get married and he wants them to take a break. It is the last thing that she wants so she throws everything into her show. Nell knows that she is taking a big chance by having both her parents here but she needs to get them to agree to be at her wedding. She can't understand why they can't agree to be there what went so wrong? Hearing the way that they speak about their lives together she knows that there might still be hope. So can't give up yet even though all the lies are getting to her. Gabriel can't believe that Felicity is having such a hard time with her boyfriend and he hopes that she can find the answers that she is looking for. He knows that once she leaves that he will never see her again so he wants to be a friend that she can turn to. Felicity likes spending time with Gabriel she looks forward to his stories and she is able to talk to him about everything so why does she feel awful about it? Can Nell get her parents to agree to come to her wedding and will Felicity be able to make the right decision? A good read. I was lucky enough to receive a copy via Netgalley and the publishing house in exchange for my honest review.

I love Anita Hughes' books. They often take place in an exotic location, at a very fancy hotel and tell stories of romance. They - particularly the Christmas books - are perfect for cozying up and getting whisked away to a beautiful (and expensive) setting and getting caught up in the ups and downs of love. This one takes place in St. Moritz, Switzerland and follows the relationships of a wedding dress designer, her best friend (who is also one of the models in the upcoming fashion show), and the parents of the model. It was a really fun story and is a perfect winter read.

Christmas is my favourite time of year and I was excited to read this book because it was also a new author to me. Anita Hughes may be new to me now but that’s about to change because I really enjoyed this sweet romance set in the beautiful resort of St Moritz.
Felicity is staging her biggest fashion show to date she is in St Moritz to show her latest Bridal Collection, she may be there with her best friends but after her boyfriend of years gives her a spa voucher instead of an engagement ring she feels very much alone so as she try’s to work her magic with her show, come to terms with moving on from her boyfriend and design a speciall gown for one of the most prestigious bridal salons she decides what she really needs is a Christmas Miracle and what better place to find one than in the Swiss Alps with its dark forests and sparkling vistas.....
A magical romance set in the beautiful Swiss Alps this story is about love, forgiveness and creating our own miracles in the most festive time of year. The story flowed, the characters had chemistry and this book has lots of perfect banter, what a great magical Christmas read.

Lacked Chemistry.
I loved the descriptions of St Moritz and the bridal gowns but I didn’t love the story. What with photo shoots and preparing for a fashion show; Felicity, Eliot and Gabriel; Nell and her estranged parents Patty and Todd; plus to a lesser extent, Raj and model Katie; there was too much going on. As a Christmas story for me it fell flat, as I wanted a fairytale HEA, which only happened for one of the protagonists.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is a tough one for me to review. There are many things I loved about it. The writing is wonderfully descriptive and had me dreaming of a winter vacation in the Swiss Alps. The pace of the story is nice and the characters are well developed. The story itself I found predictable and the characters quite annoying. Overall though I enjoyed reading this one. So I would definitely recommend.

It's the day after Christmas, and Felicity Grant is at a gorgeous ski chalet in St. Moritz for the biggest fashion show of her career. Felicity is a rising star on the bridal design scene, and this is her best collection yet. But when her boyfriend gives her a spa day instead of a diamond ring for Christmas, she has to face the possibility that she may never walk down the aisle in one of her own stunning designs. And then there's Nell, the top model headlining Felicity's show. Nell is planning her dream wedding to her wonderful fiance with one catch: her divorced parents can't stand each other and threaten to no-show if the other is there. Add to that Felicity's race against the clock to create a special gown for a prestigious bridal salon, and what both girls need is a Christmas miracle.
I loved the descriptions of St Moritz & the fashions but I found the rest of the story a bit of a mess. I think trying to cover three strings in a book is too much & because of this it suffered. I found it hard to relate to the characters & at the end was left shaking my head & thinking really! After everything that's gone before. If you want a book that really brings St Moritz to life then this is very good.

My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

The author, Anita Hughes, described St. Moritz so beautifully that she makes the reader want to go there on vacation. I actually googled it to see some beautiful pictures!
The author is a wonderful writer and I liked the book but didn’t love it. The story with Felicity and Nell was good. There was so much of the story that I thought was very aggravating.
We have parents who won’t attend their daughter’s wedding because they are divorced and don’t want to be in the same room with each other. We have Felicity, who is a successful designer in her own right, who has to have a doctor whom she just met, tell her fairytales in order for her to calm down. We have Nell who has to deal with her crazy parents. Bottom line is we are reading about a group of immature adults trying to pull in opposite directions.
I give this book 3.5 stars. Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martins Press for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I’m going to go with a 2.5. It was okay, a little cutesy, but nothing original or more than average. Felicity seemed to be awfully flightly and fanciful for a successful business woman of almost 30. I didn’t understand why she kept meeting with the doctor every day and changing her mind about where she stood with her boyfriend every day. It was a soap opera roller coaster, especially adding in the crazy side story of Nell’s parents. As a whole, it felt like an odd collection of short stories featuring the same cast of characters instead of a cohesive novel.

Netgalley provided this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

I am sucker for cozy Christmas stories, and this one was fantastic. It's delightfully charming story pulled me in, and I loved the setting. This was my first Anita Hughes book, but it certainly won't be my last.

4 star review of Christmas at The Chalet by Anita Hughes
Anita Hughes was a new author to me. As my favourite holiday of the year is Christmas, I was interested to read this story.
There are several stories woven throughout this book. Firstly there is Felicity Grant, her best friend Nell and then there is the back story of Nell’s parents.
After an intense few days building up to her Christmas bridal fashion show in St Moritz, Felicity expects that her boyfriend is about to propose. Imagine her shock when she gets a spa voucher instead.
Nell is not only Felicity’s best friend but she is also the lead model in the fashion show. She is trying to plan her wedding, which has been made extremely difficult by her parents who are divorced and who refuse to be in the same room as one another and who are threatening to boycott her wedding.
There was certainly some frustration whilst reading, aimed mainly at Nell’s parents who in my opinion were selfish and childish. However we did get to see behind the scenes as what caused their divorce so there was the added depth of another story line.
I enjoyed reading Christmas At The Chalet but I did get a tad confused at times as there was so much going on. The writing was descriptive and I could see St Moritz through the eyes of the author which added enjoyment to the read.

Christmas at the Chalet by Anita Hughes October 16, 2018 read 10/1-10/6

Christmas at the Chalet is the latest offering by author Anita Hughes. Bridal dress designer Felicity Grant, her business partner Raj Patel, and their stable of top models are spending Christmas week in St. Moritz in anticipation of the unveiling of the Felicity Grant Bridal winter collection. During the week Raj has set up events and photo opportunities. This premier would be a dream come true for Felicity had she not left New York on the heels of an argument with long time boyfriend Adam.

Once again an opportunity with Christmas had passed them by for an engagement. They had talked about their future, even to talking about how many children they would have, but after 6 years there was still no proposal. When Felicity FaceTimes with Adam after her arrival in St. Moritz, the conversation goes awry and ends with Adam saying maybe they need to take a break, perhaps even see other people. Felicity is broken hearted. As she wanders through the town, she takes a tumble twisting her ankle and Dr. Gabriel Innes comes to her rescue.

When pictures of Felicity and the good doctor appear on fashion blogs, the gossip mongers take off. At the same time as this unwanted attention is directed at Felicity her top model and good friend Nell Mason is trying hard to stay low key and keep her estranged parents apart, as they are both in St. Moritz and she is making it her top priority to ensure that they will both attend her wedding and, perhaps, she can determine why they split in the first place.

As the bloggers do their deeds and Adam does come to St. Moritz, there are many intertwining threads of the story that come to a head with, and after, the New Year’s Eve fashion show. The many outcomes will surprise and delight the reader. As with all Ms. Hughes’s books, I did enjoy this book and do recommend it.

Felicity and Nell are both dealing with heartache at a time when they should be incredibly happy. Felicity is a bridal designer and she's about to have a huge show. She put too much (I think) into her hopes that her not so great boyfriend would propose for Christmas and now she's crushed. Nell, one of her models, is coping with divorced parents who can't pull it together to make her wedding. All of this is set in St Moritz (yawsa). Hughes has a knack for setting her romances in high end locations and this is no exception. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. It's a quick light read that will cheer you..

Christmas at the Chalet: A Novel (Kindle) Anita Hughes This book has two love stories Felicity the Bridal designer and her top Model Nell. Felicity wants to get engaged to her longtime boyfriend and Nell want her divorced parents to get along long enough to both be at her wedding. Thanks to the publisher and #NetGalley for allowing me to preview this book.
Add in a fashion show in St. Moritz a handsome local Doctor named Gabriel and lots of great scenery, good food, some laughs and love and you get your surprising HEA.

There are actually two love stories in this novel. One revolves around Felicity. She is a wedding dress designer and she is having a Christmas fashion show in St. Moritz. Felicity has been with her boyfriend, Adam for years and she is expecting a ring this Christmas. Hmmmmm!?

Then there is Nell. Nell is one of Felicity’s models and best friend. She is planning her own wedding. But, her parents hate each other. Neither one is going to attend her wedding if the other is there. Can Nell create magic and get them in the same room together.

Felicity is a little too needy for me. She really wants a ring and she does not see what is right in front of her eyes, a gorgeous, kind, Swiss doctor. And he has fabulous Swiss Folk Tales. Felicity is a hardworking and talented woman. But, she drives me a little nuts with her whining.

Now Nell! She is a different story. She has the love of her life waiting on her. But, if she doesn’t get her parents to see eye to eye, she may have a nervous break down. Her parents hate each other. They actually first met in St. Moritz. Nell is hoping to spark something, anything, just to get them both at her wedding.

The author really creates a magical setting. St. Moritz is now on my bucket list, especially at Christmas. I can just picture the quaint shops with the beautiful lights and I can also taste the rich chocolates. Anita Hughes has really out done herself with this setting.

This is wonderful, enchanting Christmas tale. Everyone needs a little Christmas love story and this is one is perfect.

I received this novel from St. Martin’s press via Netgalley for a honest review.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I love any story pertaining to Christmas and this one went above and beyond. A dress designer having a showing, problems with her long time boyfriend, a couple of near miss accidents and some mystery with one of her models along with romance all combined to give this book an extra spark that I loved.
