A joyful Caillou story with eye-catching illustrations. Great way to encourage children to try out something new to eat.

I really liked this book and thought it was a great book for parents with picky eaters. Caillou does not like the food Mommy is making. So Mom decides to take him on a shopping trip with her and he can pick out the foods he likes. While getting cheese Mommy reminds him he did not like cheese before. The story goes on and Caillou helps Mommy prepare the vegetables and make the soup with the things Caillou picked at the store. Illustrations are vivid and bright as with all Caillou shows and books. I recommend this book for 2-5 yr. olds.
I received this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

What an excellent book about helping children decide to eat yummy, new foods. Most kids go through the phase of being resistant to new things. The beloved Cailou learns that new food can be exciting. He is a helper in the grocery store and later on in the kitchen! I will read this book over and over to my kids because I know that they will want to revisit Cailou's journey towards better health and variety when it comes to foods!

This is a read-aloud for a young and fussy eater or for parents who do not want to find themselves with one! Caillou's mom finds a good way to encourage Caillou to eat a healthy dinner. Children who know Caillou from other books or from TV will enjoy this story.

Caillou’s mother takes him on an adventure to the grocery store and gives him his very own bag to shop with. She allows him to pick the vegetables that will go in the soup that he helps her prepare.

This would be a good book to encourage children to help with picking out vegetables and preparing. From what I have learned, with working with children, is modeling the behavior you want. For instance, if you want your children to eat vegetables, they need to see you eating them too and will be more likely to eat them.

Simple story about teaching children the importance of vegetables and trying new foods. Perfect for encouraging fussy eaters to try new foods and also reminding parents to cook food with their children. Definitely recommend!

A helpful new title in the Healthy Toddler series about teaching picky eaters to consider new foods. Colorful illustrations and an easy text make this a joy for toddlers and parents. 5/5

Toddler and children go through phases with their eating habits. One day they love broccoli and the next day they won't touch any food that is green. It can be a headache for parents trying to get their kids to have a well rounded and healthy pallet. Caillou Tries New Food is a fun book for kids on this exact subject. My son loves the Caillou series and this book was no different. He enjoyed reading this book with me and us having conversations about why we eat different types of foods. And the book offers a great suggestion for parents of picky eaters - get them in the kitchen cooking with you and let them pick out some foods at the grocery store. It's a fun and interactive book to read with your kids and now my son wants to try to make the soup Cailllou made with his mom!!! 4+ stars!

My thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Cailou learns to try new food when he gets to be part of the process by helping to pick out food and cook it with his mother. I thought this was a cute little book that could be great at helping motivating little ones to want to be more involved in picking out foods and trying new ones.

I received this ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

Part of the Caillou Healthy Toddler series. A book to encourage little ones to try and enjoy new foods. A book for parents to read to picky, finicky eaters. Caillou doesn’t want to try even a little broccoli. Mommy takes him to the store. He has his very own shopping bag into which he places foods he likes. He likes cheese (but didn’t when he was younger). Mommy tells him his tastes are changing. He picks out vegetables for soup and helps mommy make some when they get home. It tastes good. Very short. Very sweet. Very simple.

I've read this book with my 4-year-old, who also is a picky eater, and really loves Caillou. (After reading the book he wanted to watch an episode on TV). We were a bit disappointed that Caillou, and also his parents, looks different than in the TV Show, where they always wear the same clothes. Also, little Rosie is missing.
It's a good idea to let a child pick his/her own food in order to get it to eat better. Unfortunately, this does not always help. My son has helped me cut vegetables for a soup, he nicked some of the carrots before they even got to the pot, and we stirred the soup together on the stove. But in the end he still didn't want to eat it...

Still, it's a nice story for little kids. My son is the same age Caillou is, so probably the perfect target audience for books with Caillou. But for his age group it could have been a few more examples of "trying new food". This book here is probably for younger kids.

This book is a great choice for parents and young children alike. The vibrant colours and illustrations will surely capture the interest of young children and encourage them to explore the topic of trying new foods. It will also encourage them to enjoy reading while learning something new at the same time.
Young children will be able to self-identify with Caillou as many young children often find trying new foods to be intimidating and difficult. This book sets a good example for young children as well as providing parents with ideas of how to get their children to try new foods.

Thanks for an ARC to enjoy with my grandson and give my opinion.

I have a two year old grandson and we read this together. The illustrations were enough to capture his attention and hold it as I read a story about a small boy having problems eating food. To circumvent the problem his mother takes him to the grocery store so that he can help buy food to make a soup. Then at home Caillou helps his mother prepare the soup. It was a short book and entranced my grandson until it was finished. I'd give it five stars for his entertainment!

Caillou Tries New Foods, by Christine L'Heureux and Mario Allard is a children's book that's been adapted from the animated series.

Within twenty-four pages, this book focuses on Caillou and his parents, as he assists with food preparations and tries new foods. Also, there are brightly colored illustrations throughout the book.

Caillou Tries New Foods is geared toward young children, specifically ages two to six.

Note: I received this book from NetGalley, which is a program designed for bloggers to write book reviews in exchange for books, yet the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

New foods are always hard to cope with, especially if you are a litle kid and no one understand that you may be happy for the rest of your baby years eating one and only type of food. In the typical-Caillou illustrations, it helps parents and children together to discover the pleasures of new foods and understand how you can make them look appealing and adventurous enough to be added to the baby's plate. A funny and colour way approach to baby foods.

Thank you NetGalley for letting me read this for an honest review.

So, to be honest, this wasn't for me (even though I still read it) but for a friend's child. He loved it! And I can assure you that parents can enjoy the story too! It's short it has a message, you will love it!

I got this book to read to my two year old and loved it. We are right at that age where she's decided she's not eating anything unless it's cheese, bananas, or fruit snacks. It's definitely one I could see us purchasing for continued reading.
