Title: Chosen for Christ
Author: Heather Holleman
Genre: Nonfiction, Christian
Rating: 4 out of 5

Most people spend their lives in search of something: marriage, career, prestige, a better job, more education…but these things we plan on often leave us frustrated and searching for more. What if we started living as if we were chosen for a person, Jesus Christ, instead of a plan? A calling is about more than a plan. Turn that old way of thinking on its head and embrace your true identity.

Chosen for Christ is all about embracing your identity as being chosen by Christ—and what that really means for you and your life. This book was both inspiring and uplifting and gave me a whole new way to think about things. An excellent read!

Heather Holleman is a wife, mother, college teacher, and author. Chosen for Christ is her newest book.

One of my favorites! Still working through because it has a lot of questions for you to answer about your own calling from God, so I'm savoring it.. Lovely written.

I am reviewing a copy of Chosen for Christ through Moody Publishers and Netgalley:

In this book we are reminded that we are chosen.

We all have a unique purpose, something God has called us for. We are reminded that God chooses the fruit of our lives that he will lead us to his plans for our future.

Choose for Christ offers us an invitation to step in the life you have been missing. You are reminded that we are chosen for a person not a plan.

I give Chosen For Christ five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

Do you remember being in kindergarten and it's time to pick who is going to be on which kickball team? Remember that feeling in the pit of your stomach that you didn't want to be the last one chosen? Now fast forward to college and you're rushing a sorority and just crossing your fingers that one of them chooses you. Let's take a leap forward to adulthood and you pray that you're the one chosen for that job because you have bills to pay. We go through life basing alot of our identity on being chosen. And as a Christian sometimes I look at my life, the good, the bad and the ugly and often wonder what God could want with me. I try to be a good wife and a good mother, but like any human I make mistakes.

Heather Holleman lays out an inspiring and practical way of looking at these insecurities to show how God chose us all along. And there is a new life you can be living once you accept these truths. She uses experiences from her every day life to show how she came to look at being chosen in a new light. How you can live your life to the fullest potential. At the end of each chapter she has some really thought provoking questions to not only help you better process what you just read, but also how you can apply it to your life.

This is a very encouraging book, one I would recommend yo many of my female friends.

My thanks to Heather Holleman, Moody Publishing and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I read everything Heather Holleman writes! This book was a great, Biblical reminder that we are called to Christ. I loved the questions at the end of each chapter that helped me grapple with the application of what I just read. If you have ever felt skipped over, left out, or like you’re constantly trying to find your purpose or place—this book is for you!

Heather with the use of scenarios from everyday living so aptly reminds us that we have been chosen by an "extraordinary God to live an extraordinary life". It is He who has chosen us. It is He who we can rest our identity in. She helps us to remember how life would/could be if we were to truly believe that He has our life in His hand. In life we can not choose who our parents we have or the family we live in, but as Christ's child we can choose to have Him as our Rock of foundation and in Him rise above all that this world throws at us. Chosen people lean on the Holy Spirit for this, they are aware of their weaknesses and gladly acknowledge Christ in them. Despite their own weaknesses they will display God's power at work as they live lives characterised by the Lord's strength.
This book reminds us of the greatness of the Lord, and inspires one to truly walk the journey that He would direct one to.

I have been taught that we each have a specific calling or purpose. So I find myself running around being frustrated and unfulfilled wondering if I am carrying out God's plan.

I loved the example Ms. Holleman gave us of the old I Love Lucy show. When it came close to the time for pregnant Lucy to go to the hospital, Ricky, Fred and Ethel all practiced their plan of action several times. But when the actual day came, they each got so nervous, nothing went as planned and they left Lucy behind. They forgot the most important person.

I related to this scenario. I get caught up in preparing, planning and worrying if I am carrying out The Plan. I forget what and who I am doing it for and leave out Jesus. So I call out Jesus, where are you?

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart? Jer. 1:5a
Ps. 139:14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made:
We serve an awesome God who knows us personally.

Heather used scripture to substantiate any of her points. This validates that they are not just her thoughts or ideas, but they are all scriptural.

She quotes one of my favorite Christian heroines, Holocaust survivor, Corrie Ten Boom “Every experience God gives us, every person He puts in our lives is the perfect preparation for the future that only He can see.”

I learned so much from Heather's book and the scriptures she chose. I would recommend this book to anyone who may need to stop spinning their wheels striving and planning, as I was doing. As Heather said “ We were chosen for a Person, not a plan.”

I received this book from Moody Publishers through Net Galleys. The opinion expressed in this review are completely my own.

I went through her Bible study, Included in Christ, and enjoyed it. It reminded me of who I am in Christ and what that means. They women were all challenged and encouraged by it. I am pleased that she is putting out the lessons in book form since many are more apt to read a book they do a study. I will recommend her book to others. I only gave it 4 stars because I actually like the study better.
I received this book free from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review.
