Pastor Tony Evans does it again with Warfare. The thing I love about this book is that it is Scriptural. It helped me to focus on the Spiritual Warfare that I face every day. It opens my eyes to the war going on around me each and every moment. How to identify it and the armor pieces to have in place for the battle. It talks about the REAL battle behind all the outward appearances. It goes along with all the other books I’ve been reading about the Armor in the past 2 years and it’s a great addition to my library on this topic. I highly recommend this book.

Title: Warfare: Winning the Spiritual Battle
Author: Tony Evans
Genre: Christian
Rating: 5 out of 5

So many people have problems they’re fighting: depression, drug use, anger, divorce, financial problems…the list goes on and on. But these are just the symptoms of a much greater problem. The real battle isn’t with these issues, it’s with the devil and his armies.

Tony Evans shows us how to fight these enemies—and win. He shows you how spiritual warfare is impacting your life and those around you, what effect these enemies are having, and the weapons at your disposal. He’ll show you how to become a victor over the enemies in your life. This truly is a war.

Tony Evans uses powerful teaching in an easy-to-understand style as he lays out the battles facing us every day, before he turns to the weapons to use to fight back, and the power that stands behind us. This a wonderful, powerful book for all Christians to read.

Dr. Tony Evans is an evangelical leader, pastor, and speaker. Warfare: Winning the Spiritual Battle is his newest book.

Spiritual warfare can be a scary subject to think about. Yet it is necessary for Christians to understand in order to resist the forces of evil and stay in good standing with God. Tony Evans explains that "the most real part of our existence is what happens in our spiritual lives, not what happens in our bodies. We are residents of heaven - in our spirits now and somedays in our bodies, too." Evans walks the reader through the story of Satan's fall from heaven, and how his struggle to be equal to God plays out in our lives. He explains how this happened before humans existed, and how Satan drew humans into this power struggle already in the Garden of Eden. Evans also talks about how to enlist the help of angels to minister on our behalf, and how to put on the armor of light in order to find victory in this spiritual battle.

Tony Evans is obviously very intelligent, and his book is well researched and backed with Biblical truth. However, it was a hard book for me to read through. It was a lot of heavy information, and I did best when I read it in small chunks.

This is the first book I have read by Tony Evans. To be honest, though I’ve been a Christian for many decades, I generally shy away from reading Christian books. This is because I’ve found the theology in many to be very different from what I understand from my own reading. This is especially true of Christian fiction but that isn’t applicable in this case.

“Warfare” is one of the few books that I’ve come across where I agreed with every word. It’s easy to do as it is all based directly upon the Word without unusual twisting or manipulation to fit what the author is trying to say.

Simply put, Mr. Evans is giving Christians a talking to from lessons straight from God.

We are told, in this book and in the Bible, that our fight is won (by Jesus Christ) but we are still in a battle in the spiritual realm. That that is where we are fighting to hold the line against what our enemy (the devil and other fallen angels) are trying to poach back from God.

The book covers interesting approaches from personal to family to church to community. I especially needed to read the personal segments. There were things in my life that were small but were blocking my ability to approach God. Because of what I read and the conviction of the Holy Spirit, I’ve spent some time seeking forgiveness from others. It’s amazing how such a small thing can open the floodgates of heaven.

The book is excellent and I appreciated reading it. I’ll be looking for other books by this author as he what he has to say comes straight from the Word.

I was provided a digital advance reader copy of this book by the publisher via Netgalley.

This is a valuable read for an introduction into the topic of spiritual warfare. It is clearly written and organized. Tony Evans takes the time to discuss the realities of the spiritual world exerting an effect upon the physical/visible world. He also discusses at length the spiritual forces of both God's kingdom and the domain of the enemy. He highlights the priority of prayer and obedience for victory in this daily warfare.
In addition to discussing individual warfare, the author also addresses to a lesser extent the warfare over communities and societies.
I did not necessarily agree with some of the author's conceptualizations (such as on the nature of demons etc.) which he presented as a matter of fact. I understand that he is presenting his beliefs, but I would have preferred that he would have mentioned that such definitions are not so dogmatically defined by Scripture.

Overall this is a good book that I would recommend to those who are perhaps being introduced to the reality and need for spiritual warfare. It would also be a valuable refresher for more seasoned believers.

First, I have to say that I’m a fan of Tony Evans. That being said, I had never read one of his books and I certainly have been missing out! Tony clearly defines spiritual warfare, but before he delves into how to combat it, he discusses Genesis and the fall. It makes sense that one would really need to understand what happened with Adam & Eve, Lucifer and the angels that left heaven and what that means for us today. He takes the reader through the scripture to back up his explanations and illustrates what is occurring now.

I have always been curious to learn more about spiritual warfare and though Mr. Evans explanations are written simply, the depth of his message is powerful. I learned so much about spiritual warfare; I will be purchasing a copy of this book as soon as it is released and I can already imagine how much I will highlight and write between the margins.

My review can’t fully describe how incredible this book is and how much I highly recommend it.

I received an early copy of this book from Netgalley and all of the opinions are my own.

Whether we like it or not, we are in a war against an enemy. Dr. Tony Evans equips us for battle in his new book Warfare. He tells us who the enemy is and takes us through the history of the enemy, and the enemy’s works and strategies. He then goes on to show us how God has equipped us to fight this battle. He tells us that God hasn’t left us alone but is right there with us. God gives us armor and weapons to fight the enemy, and best of all, we are guaranteed success. Evans doesn’t just summarize this battle but goes into details about exactly how the enemy works, and exactly how God works in our lives to fight the enemy. Every Christian should read this book at least once. This book can help us to formulate our battle plan against satan and his demons, as we fight alongside the Lord of Heaven’s armies and reach our victory. Tony Evans is a husband, father, and well respected pastor, teacher, and speaker. He also has a daily podcast and a website where you can find numerous resources to help with your relationship with God. I was blessed to be on the launch team and to preview this book.

I have been a fan of Dr. Evans for many years. I have listened to his sermons on the Urban Alternative, taken courses through his Training Center, and read numerous books and Bible studies. Warfare is the best book that Dr. Evans has written. Dr. Evans goes into great detail explaining how everything we do in the physical realm is influenced by the spiritual. He also states: "we have lost sight of the fact that we are in a perpetual state of warfare, which demands constant alertness. And so we let down our guards. We open ourselves up to attack. We forget that we are warriors, not tourists, in God's Kingdom on earth." Dr. Evans teaches us how to become warriors. How to recognize and protect ourselves against the schemes of the devil. This book will change you. You will begin to view everything through the eyes of a warrior.

In this book, Tony Evans uses scripture to clearly teach about all aspects of spiritual warfare. Even though I’ve heard teaching on this topic many times through the years, there were things mentioned in this book that I’d never heard taught in exactly this way. I was especially intrigued by the section on angels. It was refreshing to read descriptions of these beings based solely on scripture and not wishful thinking or fantasy.

This book is readable and held my interest all the way through the last chapter. I was convicted about being more consistent in prayer, and encouraged by again realizing the power and protection we have only through Christ. This is a book to read in all seasons of our lives.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

There were some amazing pearls of wisom this this book, and Ive saved several quotes to reflect on in the future. Spititual warfare, and the reality of the supernatural is something I believe strongly in, and this book is certainly an addition to the literature on this subject. Biblically based and very comprehensive, covering all aspects on the topic of warfare, I felt this isnt quite as readable as some of the other books in this area, but certainly useful to those who wish to delve deeper into this important topic.

He deals with the spiritual warfare from the beginning in a thought provoking way. Excellent book.

Clearly written and biblical based. If I read books like this it's to increase my insight into Angels and Demons and there's not a lot that tells me something new. What I've read in this book is clear and straightforward and somehow is getting through to me more thoroughly than any other book for a long time.

The book Warfare by Tony Evans is excellent. This book should be read by every Christian at least once. Tony teaches the Christian who Satan is, how He can hurt our lives, what strategies we need to have, how to proceed to use the strategies. The book is very positive and well written. The author has a personal style which feels like He is talking right to the reader and guiding them. He teaches the reader to remember God is working constantly in your life. He knows what is best for you . He is fighting for you even when things are dark. He wants the Christian to put on the armour and move forward each day. He goes through each part of the armor and reminds us to put it on. He tells us our sword is the word ( Bible) and we must be praying constantly. He also tells is to watch since satan will put up fortresses if we do not forgive, not tell the truth and follow God's principles. This book is very highly recommended !

This is the second book that I have read by Tony Evans. It shows us how we must be ready for the battle ahead. The enemy doesn't play fair so neither should we. Knowing how to win the battles and storms that will happen is helpful. Ephesians tell us that we should put on the full armor of God. Reading books such as this will give strength and courage to face the challenges ahead. God has given each of us victory and we must let God wage war on our behalf. Thank you Netgalley for the book.
