The third book in the Highland Pride series is the book for you if you're looking for Highland Clans, medieval romance, clans and the perfect amount of spice.

Sometimes the only vacation you need is a bookcation and this is sure to fit the bill for a Scottish getaway from the comfort of your home.

Pour a dram and dive in, it's time to meet Alan and Kirstie.

This book centers on turbulent times in Scotland which is about religion, faith, force and power. Now there were rumors that Catholic royalists, clan leaders are being murdered! The Catholic royalists, that didn't support Protestant Covenanters, are being murdered! Plus, there might be an execution name list of all the Royalist clan leaders to be terminated. Plus some have overheard Kirstie Cameron’s brothers are on the list, including her brother Lachlan, The Laird of Clan Cameron. Covenanters desire to support the English Parliament and their desire to take strength from King Charles. This was an English issue, but Scottish government declares every Scotsman to beat the King’s forces! On some level they dream of a unified Scotland.

I love Highland romance and is at the top for everything you could hope for. Open the pages and let yourself be transported to Edinburgh Castle in 1643. There you’ll meet Kirstie Cameron and Alan MacKenzie Cameron , who had been more or less adopted by the Cameron’s when he was a boy. When these two are reunited, old feelings buble to the surface. It’s intrigue and love while the Royalists and Covenanters prepare to do battle. The storyline is realistic with wonderful characters. This is the reason I always love Scottish historical romance. And Lori Ann Bailey is one of the best! Will Kirstie and Alan finally get their HEA? Pick this up and you won’t be able to put it down. I’m proud to give this five stars. I was gifted this book and am voluntarily reviewing.

By far my favorite book in this series. Kirstie is such a vibrant character, and so easy to relate to. She is voluptuous - not a stick figure with exaggerated "feminine wiles." She's imperfect - having a tendency to trip and stumble. She has awkward moments that are so endearing. I absolutely adored her.

As a big fan of Kirstie, even when he is exasperated with her, Alan Mackenzie also found a special place in my heart. He is a little overbearing at times, but again, in endearing ways. Both of them being determined to protect King and country made them immediately likable, noble people. The reader feels their frustration at trying to keep their activities to ferret out spies and threats a secret while wanting nothing more than to trust in one another.

I really loved this story. It was light-hearted and fun, yet emotional and intense at times, as well. Overall, "Highland Temptation" was the perfect weekend read. I highly recommend.

4 Stars for Highland Temptation by Lori Ann Bailey is an entertaining read full of adventure, secrecy, danger, and spying between the Royalist and the Covenanters in their fight to see Scotland and England of one religion. This fast pace storyline has wonderfully created places and characters with a whole lot of smoking hot passionate (open bedroom door) love scenes!
The only negative thing in my opinion was I felt there were too many full on lengthy love scenes. I began to start skipping through numerous pages to get back to the story at hand.
I recommend this book to everyone who loves a entertaining Scottish historical steamy romance and spy novel.

They both had one mission. Finding out who was trying to kill the Cameron laird threw them together as they both tried to find the information that would possibly stay one step ahead and save a life. Having a history together was simply they couldn’t avoid as long forgotten feelings began to resurface. Jealousy runs on both sides as they both assume a role. Great story and a glimpse into the past.

Not my favorite book! The story line was not what I expected it to read. But if you like highlanders you should read it.

3.5 stars

This was 3rd in a series, but can definitely be read alone. Alan and Kirstie are drawn together like moths to a flame, no matter how often they try to push each other away. They are each consorting with the enemy to unravel a murderous plot.

Watching them push and pull at each other was a very enjoyable story. The added suspense of the plot to kill the laird was perfect for the story and did not overshadow the romance. The chemistry between Alan and Kirstie was excellent.

All in all, I liked the story and would like to go back to read the first one.

As the third book in her Highland Pride series, this story delivers a powerful punch. The hero and heroine are both very strong, and the characters in the story are well-developed and very interesting. The story is full of drama and suspense, moves at a very nice pace and has some sizzling romance in it. There is treachery a foot! Danger from people who you do not suspect. It's a riveting story that will keep you enthralled from start to finish. I highly recommend it.

Edinburgh Castle, Scotland
June 1643

This book centers on turbulent times in Scotland which is about religion, faith, force and power. Now there were rumors that Catholic royalists, clan leaders are being murdered! The Catholic royalists, that didn't support Protestant Covenanters, are being murdered! Plus, there might be an execution name list of all the Royalist clan leaders to be terminated. Covenanters desire to support the English Parliament and their desire to take strength from King Charles. This was an English issue, but Scottish government declares every Scotsman to beat the King’s forces! On some level they dream of a unified Scotland.

Going undercover:
Alan Mackenzie is shocked to learn his Lairds sister is trying to get close to all the men in the enemy clan, to find out information concerning her brothers. So he is trying to protect her without blowing his cover. As he is secretly working at espionage for Kirstie’s Laird brother. So he is acting as if he despises the family that raised him!Kirstie Cameron was trying to get
information on who was attempting to murder her brothers. Yet she is in the enemy clan territory. Not only that, but Alan is the one man whom she was in love with. He had rejected her and who broke her heart years ago, which forced her to leave her families lands and clan. He still makes her heart tingle with butterflies in her stomach! Also, it is her Laird’s brother-former best friend. Kirstie doesn’t realize he too is undercover.
Alan sees Kirstie is even more beautiful all grown up, than when he last saw her long ago. He might not be able to touch her but he’ll be damned if he let any of these murdering weasel Covenanters touch her! Even though she seems to be flirting with each and every one!

These two former would be lovers have a lot of baggage. In addition some big solid obstacles and dividers to remove. That is if they can ever open their hearts, trust, reconcile, and move forward and love again. As both have low self esteem issues.

He feels he carries the sins of his father, which caused the early death of his mother. He fears this could be Kirstie future if he was to wed her. She just felt so rejected, as she has never been comfortable in her own skin with big crowds of people. Usually stays in dark corners alone. Only animals especially horses does she feel comfortable and at peace with herself. So when the shy lass opens up to heartbreak, she exiles herself from family and the clan she loves! It is only the day after he broke her heart and rejected her.

As it has been years since they lived under the same roof. Is it too little too late, or can they ever reveal the truth and the real reasons for their past difficulties, dilemma, and complications? Not to mention each of them are putting themselves in explicit danger snooping and investigating an enemy clan. This could result in torture and death for both Kirstie and Alan.

As Alan was always trying to do the right thing she being his best friends sister. Not to mention he feels he is protecting her from him and the monster he inherited from his father! Plus he still feels he would be dangerous to any woman. It was the Camerons that took him in as a lad. How could he betray them by lusting after their daughter/sister? Yet seeing this beauty all grown up is making Alan feel things that should be forbidden to him! Not to mention each of them are putting themselves in explicit danger, with espionage and infiltration. In other words spying and gaining the enemies trust. This is for secret information, snooping and investigating. As an enemy clan that wants to to harm to the Cameron clan leaders. This could result in death for both Kirstie and Alan!

Lori Ann Bailey, pens another exhilarating, quick paced, page turning tale. It will make readers both shiver and swoon! This remarkable story is absolutely unforgettable!

A fabulous summer read that historical romance readers don’t want to miss. It’s the third novel in her Highland Pride series. It can be read as a stand alone book as her previous books in this series. This phenomenal novel is so wonderfully incredible!

A second chance romance story with true historical facts. It has all the elements historical romance readers love! Emotional passionate love story, historical facts and issues between Royals and Covenanters. It is an exciting adventure, misunderstandings, complications, betrayal, threats, rejection, heartbreak, murdering schemes, rekindling love, passion, and so much more. The setting, plotting, dialogue characters are all absolutely superb! I was holding my breath in this twisting and turning trail, not knowing what could possibly happen next!

I highly recommend Highland Temptation by Lori Ann Bailey.

I love to read new authors (new to me) . Ms Baileys book was very enjoyable. Kirstie and Alan story was interesting. At the beginning I was not so sure about the religions war part but it didnt prevent me from enjoying the book.

One thing I absolutely love about being a NetGalley reader is the opportunity to discover new authors. Lori Ann Bailey is new to me; after reading this book, she now has a new fan. I was afraid I would be lost starting the series with book three, but it entirely stood on its own. The only bit of Scottish history I was familiar with was the period around Culloden (thanks, Outlander!), so the time of the Covenanters was totally new to me, and quite interesting.

Kirstie and Alan were friends years ago, and she was totally in love with him. When she was seemingly rejected, she left home to live with another clan. They are reunited at a large gathering where Covenanters were trying to get clans to convert from Catholic to Presbyterian. Kirstie believes there is a plot to kill her brother, and she is at the gathering attempting to find information to save her brothers. Then she runs into Alan, who is on the side of the Covenanters....or is he?

Thus follows a fast-paced story full of intrigue, action, dealing with the past, and very steamy romance. Alan and Kirstie are wonderful characters, though sometimes you want to smack some sense into one or both of them! This book is a Highland romance that is not to be missed. Set aside plenty of reading time because you won't want to put this one down.

I received an ARC of this book courtesy of NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

I just love Highland warrior stories and this one ticks all the boxes, murder, treachery, romance, I couldn't put this down.

This one captured me faster than I expected thanks to the intrigue and the kilt of course. The story itself will pick you up and take you thanks to the clever story telling of this author sprinkling the undercover business with also the mission to find out answers. The characters Alan and Kristie do the job of unfolding it out for us with the charisma that they have. Interject that this also has the second chance to it you are lost for a while. As they also have their chemistry the danger seeps in with you being trapped right there wanting the answers also. This formula was one that leaves a reader so very satisfied that you feel like the cat and the canary.

Action-packed tale of second-chance love amidst religious and political turmoil in the Highlands.

The third book in the Highland Pride series, Highland Temptation can be read as a standalone, but as is always the case with a family series, it’s best to read the previous books in order to meet the characters and gain more background of the overarching plot.

The story flows easily and the characters are well-defined. Kirstie and Alan are at the center of every situation and the growth of their love for each other developed naturally. The historical basis for the plot was researched carefully and it showed in the story.

I had some moments of discomfort with the amount of violence, but it’s probably consistent with the times. The romance between Kirstie and Alan is believable and their struggle to survive had me turning the pages until they get their happy ending.

Highland Temptation is an involving read and I’m thankful to Entangled for providing me with an advance copy to read and review.

I love a good highlander romance novel and Highland Temptation fit the bill. One of my favorite aspects of these novels is the lush and beautiful setting and imagery.

Beautiful novel!

Kirstie Cameron has lived away from her beloved home, Kentillie, three years ago because it was too hard to live in the same place as the Highlander, Alan Mackenzie whom she’s loved, but he’s only viewed her the Laird’s little sister. Kirstie believes her brothers lives are in danger and she’s set out to uncovering who’s behind the plot to kill her brothers. Alan Mackenzie is going undercover to infiltrate the Covenanters to learn more about the plots of the Covenanters against the Royalists to protect Laird Cameron, his best friend. Both are on a personal mission, to protector their Laird and family, but Alan can’t be seen with the Cameron’s if his plan is to work and Kirstie doesn’t plan on getting too close to Alan again, but he keeps showing up she can’t deny the attraction between them. Alan has always had feeling for her, but she’s his Laird’s sister and she deserves better than him. A great story of how these two overcome great odds to discover they really are fated to be together and find a passion neither can no longer be denied. This is my honest opinions after I voluntarily read a copy of this book that was provided to me with no requirements for a review.

This is the third book in a series, and I had not previously read the first two; however, I felt that this book was a great read even without the context from the prior novels and can be read as a standalone.

Kirstie Cameron is driven by a need to protect her family, so when she overhears a plot wherein the Covenanters are planning to assassinate any and all Royalist lairds that refuse to convert (which would include her family members), she vows to determine what their plans are so that she can thwart them.

Alan MacKenzie arrives under the guise of playing for the other team (he's "undercover," as it were), but when he realizes that Kirstie, for whom he has a very strong attraction to, has gotten involved, he is driven to protect her at all costs.

What I liked:
-- fast paced story with plenty of action
-- steamy goodness

What I didn't like as much:
-- Kirstie's character was a little irritating at times, which was a little annoying

Overall, an enjoyable and suspenseful romp through the Highlands!

Plot --- 4/5
Main Characters --- 4/5
Supporting Cast --- 3.5/5
Steam Level 2.5/5
