Yet another stunning continuation to the River's End series! I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know all these characters and their interconnected intricacies along the way. Finn and Brianna complement and challenge each other in the ways that really matter. While I loved our sassy FMC it was the unique perspective offered by Finn's silent view of the world that really captured my heart.

I wish I could give it more than 5 stars - I loved it that much. This story was about a young woman whose best friend was leaving to be with her boyfriend overseas. Brianna literally ran into Finn and was annoyed that he just stared at her and didn't speak. It was a couple days later that she found out he was deaf. Their relationship blossomed into a lovely love story that overcame jealousy, communication challenges, and family drama. The author gave a very realistic look into deafness that I hadn't thought about. I highly recommend this book.

Sadly tapping out at 40%

As a huge fan of Leanne Davis’s Sister series, I was really looking forward to reading River’s Rescue - especially since this could have led me to a whole bunch more books that I might like! I haven’t read any of the other books in this series (and this one is book nine), but after reviewing the synopsis for the previous books, it didn’t look like reading them all would be necessary in order for me to enjoy this book. Which is what my experience was with the Sister series - I’ve read them all, but some of them I read out of order (depending on whether or not they were on sale and how much I had in Amazon gift card credits for taking online surveys...I fully confess to being a cheapskate). And it didn’t make any difference in my enjoyment of those books. In fact, I came away in awe of Ms. Davis’s ability to weave such complicated and compelling stories over so many books - yet each could still stand on their own.

That, however, was not the case here. I tried three different times to get into this book, and just couldn’t. Maybe this is a series where it’s important to have a previous connection with the characters, and you’ll only get that through reading about them in the other books, but at 40 percent, I don’t care about any of the characters, and the writing isn’t anything like I’ve come to expect from Leanne Davis. Furthermore, I wasn't compelled to read any of the other books in this series...

So I’m adding this to my virtual DNF pile. The writing was awkward, the dialog stilted, and I didn’t like the characters. This one isn’t for me. Which makes me sad because I consider myself a big fan of the author and was really looking forward to this book. Hopefully the next one will be more to my liking!

* thank you to NetGalley and Leanne Davis for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review

I had to stop reading about halfway through unfortunately. I really enjoyed Finns character but Brianna was just too unlikeable and I couldn’t believe he would actually like being pushed around like that all the time.

I've never read this author's work, nor have I read the other books in the River's End series, but this was an incredible journey and a very unique storyline. I really enjoyed how descriptive and compassionate her words conveyed what it would be like being unable to hear. Finn and Brianna's relationship and journey was a truly beautiful story. Definitely recommend!

When reading this book, I got into it straight away, but as the book went on I found myself wanting it to hurry up and finish, I think It was a bit drawn out. In saying that I loved the story line and this book made me take some time to reflect on the world we live in and have an open mind if someone doesn't hear me it might be for a reason.

4.5 stars
I adored this story and the main characters, Finn and Brianna. It’s intense and passionate in a rather sweet and somewhat circular way, and I found it endearing and never tedious.
I must say I loved the heroine, she’s so young, smart and spontaneous. Her sincerity and generosity are refreshing, her confidence appealing. She’s a good example that appearances are often deceiving.
I love our wounded hero too – lonely, isolated and tortured in a detached sort of way. His deafness is closely linked with the isolation and his personality. His struggles and story are really hard to read. What a damaged, broken hero...
I’m curious about how the deaf culture will receive this story and Finn.
Reading lips seems such a strenuous (impossible?) task. I didn’t mind suspending the disbelief about it (and other things) sometimes – Leanne Davis shows and tells what a difficult task it is.
There’s lots of telling in this story, but I didn’t mind, I was completely immersed in it. I finished it totally aware that the romantic couple will have to face many, many obstacles in their future.
