I really appreciated that the author took on the experience of a multicultural teen! The topic is challenging but also really important and very relatable to a lot of teens out there (myself included, back in the day). However, too much was attempted and not enough was wrapped up by the end. The ending felt unsatisfying and left me wanting more, but not in a good way. It was a good attempt, and I'd love to see more by this author!

I remember this being a very interesting read and unlike anything I expected it to be. I think this book has got an important message inside for teenagers, which is why I think every teenager, especially those bullied in high school or those who feel like they don't fit in, should read it. It should be discussed. The author found the right time and the right voice to make the story believable. I liked Torn a lot.

Torn is really a story of a friendship, between two young girls who couldn't be more opposite from each other! It's a bit of a classic story, troubled teen and a goody two shoes type who are best friends but find their friendship tested. Despite that, it was still an enjoyable read!
