The Truth About Dinosaurs was just ok for me. I liked the concept -- a chicken shows how she is related to dinosaurs by sharing her family scrapbook -- and I really liked the illustrations.

I wished, though, that there were a few more facts and that maybe the scrapbook had been arranged in chronological order. I know a couple of kids who would gravitate to this book because it's about dinosaurs, but then be disappointed that there just isn't a whole lot of factual information for them to gobble up.

I'll certainly be looking for more by Guido Van Genechten in the future, I think it's just this particular story that didn't do it for me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Clavis Publishing for providing me with a free electronic ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a fun story for young kids. The main character, a chicken, goes through his family tree to explain how he is related to dinosaurs. The illustrations are cute and humorous. I would definitely recommend this book, especially for kids that have an interest in animals and dinosaurs.

This is a very short, colourful picture book about Dinosaurs meant for little children. The pages of this book are dedicated to overly cute cartoons of dinosaurs (and chicken). The colours are bright and the text easy for understand for little ones. It's a cute kiddies book.

I have three children, two of which are old enough to be interested in books (6 and 3). We have dozens of children's books in our home and many of those books are about dinosaurs. Our children love to learn about animals and processes and we purchade books that help them to make those connections.

What I really like about this book is that it uses humor. The main character is a modern chicken and he ia telling the story of his ancestors (the dinosaurs) and how they're all connected. Using a family photo album to show all the connections, children can learn how dinosaurs evolved into modern-day animals.

The photo album used in this story is filled with colorful illustrations that are cartoon-like, but realistic enough that any child who is familiar with different dinosaur types would still be able to identify them.

I would definitely recommend this book as it provides a different presentstion in dinosaurs and their genetic connections that I have not seen in other books of its kind.
