This book was written by the victim's mother and her hurt and pain are so evident. You can feel them with every sentence you read. My heart just broke for her and I wanted to hug her continuously throughout the book. I am sure writing this book was very cathartic for her, as well. I found it written very well, as sad as it was. I truly wish her and her family peace and love for what they have gone through. This book is very worth the read. But keep the kleenex close! It is a tearjerker.

Through a Mother's Tears is a sad story told by the mother of a murder victim. This story takes place in the United Kingdom. I feel terrible for the tragedy that Cathy and her family went through.

This is such a said story. I feel so awful for this family and what they had to go through. It took so much strength to write this book and tell their story.

Bleak and haunting this is a sad tale of the aftermath of murder and the ripples it causes over the years.

Cathy Broomfield should never have had to write this book, the death of her daughters was tragic.

An emotional journey through a family's tragedy, Cathys daughter was killed by Paul Cathys husband and if that wasn't difficult enough to cope with her other daughter then drank herself to death, make sure you have plenty of tissues at the ready as you will need them, so sad !

Cathy Brookfield has written a heartfelt and amazing book about the loss of her two daughters, Kirsty and Hayley. Cathy explains the family history and how Kirsty was brutally murdered by Kirsty’s husband. The whole family was obviously so devastated by this and Sonya spiralled down and also died, heartbroken.
How on earth does a mother cope with the loss of two children? She continues courageously, step by step, for, and with the support of, her husband, her other daughter, Sonya, and her grandchildren.
I was also pleased to see that she was in touch with Sonia Oatley, the mother of Becci Aylward, who was also murdered aged 16 (the press reported the story at time as ‘murder for the price of a breakfast). The two mothers, Cathy and Sonia, campaigned for life sentences to mean life after the killers of their daughters received ridiculously short recommended minimum sentences with their life sentence for murder. As well as reading this book, I would also recommend reading Sonia Oatley’s book, ‘Bye Mam, I Love You’.
Highly recommend this short read about a mother’s loss of two daughters. Heartbreaking, but shows what a courageous woman Cathy is to be able to continue.
Thanks to NetGalley for a Kindle copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A heartbreaking true life story told by the mother whose daughter Kirsty, was murdered by her husband Paul. Sadly she then loses her other daughter who drinks herself to death.

I can not begin to imagine what this family went through and the courage that Cathy had to write this heartbreaking book.

I read this with a massive lump in my throat. It’s written in an honest and soul revealing way that will wrench at you’re heart strings.

What an absolutely heartbreaking book.

This is the true story of how Cathy lost her 2 daughters, one to murder and one to a broken heart.

Received this book for my honest review.

Cathy had the perfect daughters. Even though she had 3 marriages (one common law) she had the perfect family at the start of this journey. Until she went through hell and back when she found out her daughter Kirsty was murdered. Cathy and her husband couldn't stand Kirsty's boyfriend and neither did Kirsty's sister's but for some reason Kirsty felt a connection with this looser and he ended up killing her. After dealing with the pain of that Cathy's other daughter Hayley started having a drinking issue and she lost Hayley also. This story is tragic and heartbreaking. I was hoping for a little more depth of feeling but I understand why it was written the way that it was. I hope that Cathy, Dave and the rest of her family can find closure and happiness again in the future

How sad it is that any Mother should have to write this book and retell the devastating and truly heartbreaking story of loosing two children. One child to murder and the other through alcohol abuse with the route cause been the death of her Sister.
I really, really felt for Cathy as she very bravely told her story.
My only wish is that at sometime, somewhere, someone reading this recognises themselves/someone else in the same situation and manages to seek help to successfully escape from it and that is why I suppose sometimes however chilling and horrific these stories need to be shared.
My thanks go to Netgalley and the author in providing this arc in return for a honest review.

"Through A Mother's Tears" by Cathy Broomfield is a book about a mother's pain of one daughters murder and the death of another daughter from drinking herself to death. This was a heart breaking story of the mother's hurt and anger. The author had an idea that her daughter Kristy's husband was very bad news but as a sad normal the abused could not believe it. While the author tries to portray her daughters as perfect people that sadly was not true, they made decisions that put them both in a lifestyles that are higher risk of death. Still that is no reason for Kristy's murder or to see a daughter drink herself to death to hide her pain from loosing a sister in a violent way. I really hope this book is an eye-opener to woman and even men that are in abusive situations that you need leave it affects your family also not just you. Also that people realize you can drink yourself to death. I highly recommend this book.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Baker Publishing Group. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This was a tough one to get through. It's a story about a mother's loss of her two children at two different times. As a mom, this book broke my heart. I can't imagine what it's like to see your children indulging in self-destructive behaviors and being helpless to do anything. Watching the downward spiral was heart breaking. I hope for her that this book brought her some relief in the telling of her story. It gave her a chance to share her children's lives as something other than a sordid headline. Sad but riveting.#netgalley #throughamotherstears #CathyBroomfield

This was one of those rare times whereby i sat and read a book within a day. Quite an emotional read and thankfully, no one was around to see me having to wipe a tear or two away. I lost a son and it is something that i will never get over, but i couldn't even comprehend losing two. I do remember the case from reading newspapers, but never really knew the full story. I do wish Cathy Broomfield all the best for the future. Recommended.

My thanks to Netgalley and the Publishers for my copy. This is my honest review.

This book is a true account by a mother, Cathy Broomfield, who reported her daughter Kristy as missing. Cathy initially thought that Kristy had run away from her abusive husband, but slowly learns that there was a lot she didn't know about her daughter's life. She finally gets the awful news she was dreading and then has to go through weeks of trial at court. Just when she thought her nightmare was finally over, she gets even more disturbing news and has to face yet another tragedy.
I want to thank the publishers for sending me an ARC for my honest review.

This book was terribly heartbreaking, and while the story its tragic knowing that its a true crime story so
all of these terrible things actually happened to someone is very hard to swallow. The book is written by the mother retelling the story of her daughters and their tragic passing. Cathy's daughters were inseparable and they could light up any room they walked into. Things started to change when Kristy meets her husband. The family doesn't approve but tries to give her the benefit of the doubt. When Cathy doesn't hear from her daughter she starts to get a strange feeling in the pit of her stomach. It isn't long before the cops show up at her door and confirm what she already knew her daughter is dead. From the murder of her one daughter to the death of her second I can't imagine what this poor family has been going through. It's tragic. This book was really interesting though. You really felt the pain and the sadness that the mother felt as well as the anger at the situation. While it was a terrible thing that happened the story itself was amazing and I couldn't put this book down. I just kept thinking what a terrible thing to have happened and how the family managed to cope with not just one tragic loss but two. This book had so much power and emotion especially for it being so short. It really grabbed you by the heartstrings and never let go.This story managed to bring tears to my eyes and that doesn't happen often. Amazing read, but its so sad to think that one family had to go through all of this tragedy. The ending was not at all what I was expecting from the title I was thinking a suicide so it was
in interesting twist. Really good read but I feel for the family. Check this book out you wont be disappointed.

First off, a huge thank you to NetGalley and Thistle Publishing for a free copy of this ebook, for my consideration and review.

Wow. What an incredibly heart wrenching story. Cathy Broomfield describes the loss of her two youngest daughters with raw emotion and memory. You can feel her pain, her heartbreak, and the light that was lost in her life as she dealt with the unexpected loss and murder of not daughter and the deep downward spiral of another, shortly after. I strongly commend the author for laying this vulnerable part of herself on these pages.

From a literary standpount, the book is not well rounded. The writing is very poor and Kayley’s disappearance and investigation seems to go by very quickly in terms of storytelling. Often, this comes off as very disorganized. Then, only the final chapter is about Hayley’s story. The reader is not allowed a different viewpoint except that of pain and heartbreak as is written through the author’s emotion. The language is very informal and appears rushed at times.

This was a very tough read, all heartbreak until the very end.
