This is a poignant and empowering story of a young woman's plight of the Great Migration north. Estella finds herself in Chicago away from Jim Crow laws and yet she faces many of the same prejudices. The story is eye opening and gives the reader a front and center seat to how life is lived how it looks and feels during this time era. I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book from NetGalley for an honest review.
