I requested this book back in January when I first joined NetGalley and now reading back over the synopsis I sadly don't feel this is a book for me and doesn't seem like something I would enjoy. Due to this I have decided not to read it however I have to provide a review and feedback; I have given it three stars as this feels fair for not having read the book and based on other reviews.

It took me a while to get used to the terms used in this book however a handy guide at the beginning helped to understand the language along with a map of the unfolding scene. A story involving mythical races who lived divided from each other, Dime the main character goes on the run after unexpectedly and suddenly being accosted by strangers. She starts out on her journey alone but soon finds out that not all is as she was brought up to know. The story ends quite suddenly which leaves you wanting to read the next.
Very creative and well written.

I honestly. Physically. couldn’t bring myself to read this book. I read to about page 25 but I just couldn’t get into it. Also, the fact that it was going to be part of a 10 book series was kind of intimidating and off-putting. Because if I liked the book then I would want to read all the books. And I just couldn’t do that. I think it might have been better if it was a longer book and shorter series because then it’s less commitment to a particular series. Overall, I’m not fully able to give this book a rating but the fact that I couldn’t actually finish it says something. I rarely don’t finish a book. Take that as you will.

'Diamondsong' is an interesting concept and Part 1: 'Escape' is well-written in terms of prose. However I found the world-building confusing, meaning it didn't have any context for me to make sense of the action based plot.
It was unclear what time period or world this story was taking place in within the story itself, the information instead is given in a set of notes provided before the story has begun, which I didn't like.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to review this title.

After reading E.D.E Bell's stories i really wanted to read this one too. It is interesting to read. I really like the story. There is a guidline in the beginning and that is really useful too. The story is unique and i am definetely going to read the part 2 too.
