I deeply apologize, but life is a handful lately and I'm using all my free time to read, not review. I hope everybody understands.

A collection of sequential short stories that takes readers from childhood to adulthood of Sir Differel Van Helsing and her new job - hence title of book. A really liked this book and look forward to more of Sir Differel Van Helsing's story.

I thought this was a fun read. The twist on the Van Helsing legend was well developed. The characters were believable and the monsters just right.

Sir Differel Van Helsing is the great-great-granddaughter of the original Van Helsing who was famous for his hunt of Dracula. She is also a direct descendent of King Arthur’s daughter. She has King Arthur’s greatsword Caliburn and is now the master of the vampire Drakuyla besides being the Queen’s premier monster hunter. How did all this happen to a girl? She takes over the role of her father when he dies as her mother has been dead for a long time. In this collection of stories, you will see her growing up in spite of some of the exciting and perilous adventures.

I must admit that I was disappointed when I read the last story as I wanted more to read. It’s a different take of myth and the fantastic stories of King Arthur and Dracula. I always wanted more about these two characters which I think the author did a masterful job of writing them. I hope to read more about Sir Differel! Enjoy!

I loved this book . Reading about Differel becoming Director of the Caerleon Order of the Companions of St. George, and Master of the Voivode Vlad III Tepes Drakulya, her group of Monster Hunters who protect the Queen and the Crown was great. Seeing her grow as Director and leader from a little girl to an adult while doing all this was fascinating. Differel was orphaned a a young age. Her Father died when she was twelve and so she became leader with the help of her guardians who were able to advise her and discipline her when needed since she was still a child when she started. The adventures of her and her frenemy, Lady Margaret were funny and exciting. Guns, weapons and hand to hand combat are only part of her arsenal and we can't forget about Vlad. If you like monsters, guns and adventures, you will love this book like I did. Now on to Volume two. I received this book from Net Galley and Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America for an honest review and no compensation otherwise.

I hadn’t read a book by this author before but decided to take a flyer. Overall, I’m glad I did as I enjoyed this collection of sequential short stories. I would however prefer a novel (long read) format for future instalments. Mr O’Brien created a good world with interesting characters. A fine read.
My thanks to NetGalley for providing me with an arc in exchange for my honest review.

A very nice intro book of Short Stories into this realm. Concise and fluid writing that draws you in with tells you whats going on and gives you insight into the characters.
