Counterfeit in all the good ways. Ethan is Evan 2.0. If only he could find the words to let Gwen know...

She hadn't been feeling it. Sparks. There were exactly zero sparks. But she needed a date for her friend's wedding and he is her boyfriend, so...

Except he isn't. And Ethan has no idea how to tell her the truth as he continues to fall for this beautiful woman.

It's sweet and fun. Counterfeit Boyfriend is an entertaining romp.

Ethan must have been out of his mind when he agreed to help his twin. Now he's in over his head and if he's not careful, his heart could be the ultimate casualty. CounterFeit Boyfriend is all a romantic comedy should be. Cheesy, over the top and fun. Cindi Madsen creates characters that are hard to walk away from and a pleasure to revisit again.

This is such a summer read for me as it left me feeling good and I would love to read it on the beach. The writing was enjoyable and I want to read more from this author. A nice beach read.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I really liked it. Good characters, fun story line. I'm ready for Evan and Tori! :)

So far the books we have read from Cindi Madsen have been really fun, cute, and even sexy.

However, this book just didn't work for us. We found the characters lacking in chemistry and we had a hard time even wanting to finish it.
We will continue to read books from this author though

Did not finish at 26%.

Ordinarily I love Cindi Madsen novels, she's an auto-request/ one click buy for me but this just didn't do it for me.

Ethan is the more responsible, sensible twin, Evan the lay about good time guy. Evan has promised his girlfriend Gwen that he will go to a friend's wedding with her back in her home town, something which involves a road trip, as support for when she comes face to face with her cheating ex and her former BFF. Unfortunately, the wedding clashes with a boys trip and he has come to the conclusion that he and Gwen aren't really going anywhere romantically. But he's a nice guy and doesn't want to leave her to face her ex alone, so he asks Ethan to pretend to be him, just like they did when they were kids, show her a good time and then Evan will let her down gently when they get back. what could possibly go wrong?

Gwen is a quirky girl, she works as the office administrator for a veterinary practice, she loves oddball facts and she is looking forward to visiting the US's largest lighthouse and other sights as part of the road trip. The only problem is, she doesn't think there's any spark with Evan and she is going to break up with him. But when Ethan, masquerading as Evan, meets Gwen there is definitely a connection, a smoking' hot connection. And so, despite knowing it's a metaphorical car crash waiting to happen, Ethan agrees to go on the trip with Gwen whilst pretending to be his twin.

Why didn't I like this? It felt too juvenile, I know that Cindi Madsen writes NA/YA novels but this felt too young. I could see that the deception was going to blow up in Ethan's face - he knew it too and it felt too stupid. Also there were also too many clues that Ethan wasn't Evan, okay Gwen didn't know he had a twin, but come on - his hair grew like two inches in a few days! Overall, I couldn't suspend my disbelief and wasn't engaged by the story or the proposed road trip.

I received a free copy of this book from the publishers via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Another great book from Cindi Madsen! Counterfeit Boyfriend is the perfect summer vacation read, since it tells the story of Gwen and Ethan (pretending to be his twin brother, Evan) and their roadtrip back to Gwen's hometown to attend a wedding she is not looking forward to. The book had lots of sweet moments, and it was fun to watch the growing attraction between the two of them.

This book had a little bit of everything in it. It was sweet, romantic, funny and yes even hot at times. I just loved Evan and Ethan, which by the way are twin brothers.. Evan was a bit of an idiot who was always using his twin brother to clean up his messes. Ethan had a good heart but just could not seem to say no when his brother asked him to do something. This time Evan asked him to pretend to be be him with his girlfriend on the road trip he had planned. Ethan goes along with this but something happens a long the way. He really likes Gwen and he wants her for himself. Ethan knows that once she learns the truth that might just not be in the cards. This book had me laughing and smiling from beginning to end. I would love Cindi Madsen to now write Evan's story because I sure would love to see him fall. Amazing book. I would highly recommend it. Thanks NetGalley. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.

So cute. I loved every minute of this book. Nothing says trouble like twins switching places. I think that's what I loved most is just waiting to see if and when Gwen would figure it out. Ethan I love him. Even with his hesitance about taking his brothers place you know he is just an amazing guy. That spark that ignited with Gwen during the road trip is amazing. I love road trip books because of the fact that anything can happen. Watching Ethan and Gwen fall is so special. You really feel for her when she finally discovers that there was a switch. Evan is the more of douche twin brother out of the two. But I really want him to get a book just because. This book is so good and I really couldn't put it down.

My twin brother’s talked me into a lot of crazy things, but taking his place on a road trip with his girlfriend so he can party with his friends is a whole new level of insanity. What’s even more insane is I somehow find myself agreeing to it.I’m determined to undo the arrangement, but then I meet Gwen. And then she kisses me. Just like that, I’m driving her up the coast, on our way to a wedding with a mess of complications. With each hour and each stop, I’m falling harder and harder for a woman who doesn’t know my actual name. When I started reading I couldn't put it down.Cindi Madsen is magnifysent writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book.

I love Cindi Madsen's books as they always hit the spot. I thought Counterfeit Boyfriend was a fun and flirty story with a sassy heroine and a hero that was all typesof sexy and swoony.

Twin brothers Ethan and Evan use a little "twin magic" all the time, but when Evan asks Ethan to switch places with him to take his girlfriend on a roadtrip, Ethan has no idea what he is getting into. He could never have expected to form such a connection with Gwen. But when the secret is out will Gwen give the right brother a chance?

I usually have a problem with secrets and hidden identities in stories but this story worked for me as it had a great balance of sexy and humor. Ethan and Gwen were so great together as their chemistry and banter was sexy and heartwarming. I enjoyed their connection and never wanted it to end!

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review. Bravo! 4 stars! ~Ratula

I have read a couple of other books by this author and enjoyed them but went into this book unsure if she, or anyone, could make this plot work in a way where I would end up rooting for a hero that would pull this kind of trick on someone. The answer is mostly yes. Not because I found Ethan to be so wonderful that I could not help but forgive him or because his reasons for agreeing to the charade were so solid I could understand his decision (far from it in fact. I still don't understand how he decided to go along with this), but because Madsen makes the journey Gwen and Ethan go on together and the way they connect so strong that I could not help but feel that regardless of their start they were better together than apart. That is not an easy feat.

2 1/2 stars. This just didn't do it for me. The actual writing style was good, but the story was lacking. I found my attention wandering off. I was irritated that Ethan didn't say something to Gwen from the very beginning. And do not get me started on the ice cream scene! Why would Gwen allow her boyfriend, who she is planning to kiss, order ice cream with peanut butter cups when she has a peanut allergy????? The end result of an allergic reaction could have been achieved by something more plausible. This book was not for me.

Another great story by Cindi Madsen and one I'd absolutely recommend!

I think the blurb pretty much establishes what the story will be about, We have twin brothers Ethan and Evan; and Evan has always been the one asking her brother to bail him out or help him by taking advantage of the fact that they are brothers and this time Ethan sees himself in another kind of mess. He has somehow agreed to take his brother's girlfriend on a road trip. He certainly doesn't want to go ahead with this and plans to explain it all; but once he meets Gwen everything changes and he just can't find the right moment to tell her.

As I said, I loved this book. Both Ethan and Gwen are wonderful characters and the chemistry between was amazing! I loved reading how the feelings between them start to flourish and was totally cheering for them. Gwen was really sweet and funny, I quite liked her personality. And Ethan despite being in this terrible position truly is a great guy.

I loved that this was a dual POV story, and the pacing and writing style were another win for me. This is book everyone should add to their reading lists.

Yet another fantastic story from Cindi. I loved this book and it kept me tapping my kindle flipping pages. The story sucked me right in and didn't let go.
So we have twins, Ethan and Evan. Ethan just passed his bar exam a month ago and has moved back to town to start a new job. His brother Evan works for their Dad at his law practice. Evan is a total underachiever, Ethan is always bailing Evan out of some nonsense that Evan has found himself into and usually has to do with being a twin. It was okay when they were in high school. Ethan is past that. So when Evan pulls a big favor card and begs Ethan is take his now gal pal who he's going to break up with anyway in favor of a big party with his guy friends, Ethan reluctantly agrees. Only because they are trashed after celebrating his being home and his new job that awaits.
Ethan had planned to come clean the next morning to Gwen about what Evan had done but when they meet, Ethan feels a connection to her he's never felt before. So a bit reluctantly he agrees. Gwen had actually planned to dump Evan that morning and not go back home for a wedding where she'd have to face her ex and her best friend who she'd caught having sex. The ultimate betrayal for Gwen. Not wanting to go alone, she had asked Evan to go along and they'd drive to PA maybe seeing some sights along the way. Instead she's now got Ethan who is all for sightseeing and spending time with this woman he is so taken with. Gwen travels at the speed of sound, she's a ball of fire; chatty non stop and while she notices the changes in Evan/Ethan, she'd glad she didn't dump him because after the kiss at the coffee shop she finally felt that zing she was looking for.
Ethan couldn't find the right time to tell Gwen the truth and the two have a great time. Ethan very loving and protective, Gwen just being Gwen and I loved her character. I loved Ethan too. Absolutely loved him. The sexual tension was perfect. Ethan even withstood dinner with Gwens parents and the glares of her father. There were some great moments of laughter in the book. A lot of them.
Don't for a minute think this is your typical twin book... it's not. Honestly I held my breath a few times because I knew the moment was coming when the proverbial stuff would hit the fan, I just didn't know how or when because our beloved author doesn't leave breadcrumbs and man I didn't see that one coming until it did and wow was I OTT ticked at Evan. Who the %^& waved a wand and made him think he was entitled. Poor Gwen and Ethan. Evan can take a long hike over a bed of hot coals. Cindi is her true style weaves a great story and incredible characters you can't help but love.
This books was a winner for me.
