I would like to thank Amazon Publishing UK, Thomas & Mercer and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Run And Hide’ by Alan McDermott in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
The Executive Security Office controls security in the US and Eva Driscoll who’s worked for the CIA believes they were responsible for the faked suicide of her brother Jeff and his friend Danny. Eva watches as Rees Colback is chased through Manhattan by men in a black SUV and as Rees worked for Special Forces in Afghanistan with Jeff and Danny there’s a good chance those chasing him are also responsible for the death of her brother. She rescues Rees and together they attempt to work out why the ESO has marked them for elimination. Can they discover the truth before they’re caught?
‘Run And Hide’ comes across as an exciting and fast-paced thriller with a well-executed plot and twists and turns. A big disappointment however are the characters who I didn’t find believable and although I kept going in the hope I was eventually going to enjoy it, I struggled to get to the end and called it a day half-way through. I’m sure a lot of readers will love this type of thriller but I’m afraid I’m not one of them.

I am not big on government based books but I really enjoyed this book and had to finish to see happened to Eva and her crew, definitely would have been 5 star review if not for killing a bunch of kids. Not necessary.

Meet Eva Driscoll, Woman On A Mission

Eva is hunting a man on a busy New York street, and it seems she has marked him for death. But soon you learn that all is not what is seems. Rees Colback is the target, having left the army for a job opportunity in New York City. Soon his Special Forces sixth sense kicks in and he realizes he is being stalked.

Thus begins Run and Hide, a book you will be immersed in as you learn how the evil plot unfolds. It is a wild ride, with unbelievable turns that slowly reveal the unimaginable truth and clever moves that it takes to reach the inevitable confrontation of good and evil. Captivating from the very first chapter, Alan McDermott has created another thriller that draws you into the plot quickly and never lets you go.

Thank you, NetGalley, for a free advance copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

"Run and Hide" presents a troop of characters who quickly get to grips with providing solutions to any conceivable problem. The unrelenting scheming keeps pace with the rate Eva Driscoll dispatches these problems, which is carried out with stealth and efficiency.

Eva is just one of the many pawns in this mammoth game of political chess - but now she has a personal quest: to obtain answers and ultimately justice for her murdered brother. People will be held accountable – whoever they are, whatever their position, and at any cost. Even those pulling the strings at the highest level who ironically display the lowest regard for everyone else.

The hazards are plentiful, the feats impressive, the group dynamic... maybe not so much. Although Eva’s unfaltering and effective kick-ass attitude met every challenge head on, the crowd of people that builds around her immediate circle and beyond grows considerably preventing me from getting to know anyone else in any great detail, and consequently believing in them.

Probably best to just sit back and enjoy the ride with this one. But expect a steadily rising body count and no mercy.

*** ACTUAL RATING: 3.5 / 5 ***

A government secret assassin discovers that her brother has been murdered and on further investigation that his comrades in a special forces unit seems to has been pick off one by one. She manages to save the sole survivor as he about to be targeted. There after follows a story of her wits matched against superior odds that are determined to eliminate her and her companions while she is determined to win though and track down the secret organisation behind it all. A most thrilling story involving high politics and rick rollicking action with the heroes just surviving to live another day

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to preview Run and Hide by Alan McDermott. This is a fast paced conspiracy theory type of book. I really struggled to want to read it though. I read a few fellow reviews to see if I could pinpoint what my lack of interest was and I agree with other reviewers that there was no character development. You are tossed right into these fast car chases with over the top action. I love thrillers and suspense but I like some more substance too.

A fast paced action thriller! Although this isn’t my typical kind of book to read, I did enjoy it.

My heart was in my throat from start to finish on this novel.. it’s very high intensity, but people will read all night to find out what happens next. It has CIA operatives, foreign agents, super rich bad guys and a great conspiracy plot.. I’m not sure I could read McDermott really often, but he certainly did keep my attention.. it’s a remarkable plot, and in places almost too real to contemplate. Thriller fans are going to love this one.

Read three chapters and gave up. I enjoy thrillers, but when the heroes (or villains) have over-the-top capabilities, I find that just plain boring.

Run and Hide by Alan McDermott is an high octane thriller that never stops from the beginning to the end.

The main character is Eva Driscoll who is trying to avenge the murder of her brother as she battles a secretive organisation who have fingers in a lot of pies.

The book is a nice easy read if you like this type of thriller

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to preview Run and Hide by Alan McDermott. This may be Book 1 of a series because the ending was open ended.
If you like conspiracy theory, the government is out to get you, books, this is the book for you. Lots of action with some suspense.
Characters were ok, and some of this was just not believeable. All in all, if you like this type of book, it will get your juices flowing.

An Interesting book. The idea that there is a group of very, very rich men ruling the world? Ridiculous - isn't it? I'm not so sure after reading this book. Lots of killing and car crashes for those who love them. Spies hunting spies, black operators hunting black operators.

Really enjoyed it. Makes you think about the world today - well it made me think anyway!

Excellent, excellent, excellent. So much action! I could not put it down. I just had to know what was going to happen next. This is a perfect example of a first class thriller. Totally loved it.

This book was given to me by NetGalley for a fair review.

I found this book to be exciting and thought provoking. The plot and action continue to flow through out the entire book. I was captivated at the idea of one group (ESO) running the world with all the power to make wars happen and have anyone killed with a snap of their fingers, and the lengths they go to while keeping it all under wraps.
I hope that Mr. McDermott has more of these books coming out as I would love to follow these characters as a group working together.

Fast paced action packed "page turner" book. Characters are well developed. 'Government within the government cabal is reminiscent of "the X Files smoking man" minus the aliens, "The Blacklist " TV series or "Illuminati"stories. Conspiracy theorists will enjoy this book. Primed for a follow up book with this theme and characters.

Run and Hide is nonstop action as Eva avenges her brother's faked suicide. Readers who enjoy conspiracy theory type books should love Run and Hide. It made me think about how much, if any, of the book's basic premise could be true, and it made me think of the recent headlines about collusion.

This is my kind of story. Lately I've been reading other types of books and I'm so glad I picked Alan McDermott’s newest book to read next. Where have I been? This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I couldn’t put it down.

I loved the plot and the main character, Eva Driscoll. She is tough and smart and great at her job, which is basically killing people for the wrong reasons, she finds out in this story. I appreciate the author’s knowledge of weapons, politics and history. The book definitely kept me guessing – the story line has many twists and turns, of which some really surprised me. If there is a book two, I will be reading it!!

Eva is a long and loyal serving solder for the CIA, well that's what she thought anyway, however one of her brothers friends life may be at risk and sticking her neck out only shows what that loyalty really means. But is this a personal battle of a very competitive lady or is there anything a lot deeper going on, not prone to the they are out to get me brigade make this a great thriller. As is a must for any thriller to work there has to be a number of twists and turns this you won't be disappointed in. The strength of our heroes can leave the enemy wanting and can avoid over doing the blood and gore, but the blood spillage and body count is not low. For that to make sense you will need to read the book. I don't think you will be disappointed as this book has a lot going for it and I love way Alan has ended this story and I'm sure you will want to read a lot more of his books. Our heroes are real action pack hero's that put super heroes to shame, as these are pure purpose driven and focused driven that makes them the sort that many will have dreamed of once having out grown the super hero stage of life (will let you know when I get there) but with a desire to right the wrong. However first you have to know who is the right and who is in the wrong. Enjoy this trip of discovery and see where the halo falls.

My first book by Alan McDermott. Grabbed me before I finished page one. Read it straight through and then started reading the Tom Gray series in anticipation of what else the author has penned. Wow! Not disappointed! This is a stand alone book with a few characters from the Tom Gray series appearing, but I didn't realize that when I read it pre-Tom Gray, and it didn't matter at all. I can't wait for the authors next book. Great read from a creative and talented writer.
