I have always loved Tilly's books and this one is her best by far totally hooked from the first page and so heartwarming and romantic and absolutely brilliant read with beautiful countryside and you think you are there in the French Rivera. Great characters and the story plot is amazing and an easy read that you just can't put down.
Ashley went on holiday years ago as a teenager and met a man she fell in love with one night but when she woke he had gone leaving a telephone number that wasn't his and when she later discovered she was pregnant so went it alone as she didn't know where he was or even his name and her child Molly was brought up by her and she was always upset she never found him. Molly is now sixteen and her grandmother manages to get Ashley and Molly to go away with the to family on the French Rivera and it's to give them a break from work and enjoy the countryside. On her week away she bumps into the neighbour who is on holiday with his daughter and it happens to be Molly's father Haydon who she had never forgotten but never thought she would see again. They both fall for each other again but can Ashley tell him the truth about her daughter and that he's the father or not and can they tell the children what is going on or does someone get there first how will everyone react and can they be happy or not.
A fantastic read from the first page worth far more than give stars.

A fun read. When Ashley, a single mother of 16 year old Molly, heads to France to celebrate her stepfather's family celebration, she does not expect to meet up with Haydon, a divorced father of 13 year old Ella. Turns out that he is also the father of Molly, although he doesn't know it. Majority of the story is her trying to tell him, and people and life getting in the way. Enjoyed this story, and would highly recommend it. Great summer read, as the title implies.

Ashley has been raising her daughter all alone after a one-night-holiday-stand left her pregnant with no way to contact the father. She is going along just fine until a holiday in the South of France brings her face-to-face with her long-lost lover. Many high-jinx ensue, and it seems Ashley might never get the chance to tell Haydon the truth. In the meantime, are they falling for each other again?

While I found this book charming, the plot got tedious at times. The characters are likable, and the setting is divine. I do love a vacation book, and what is better than the sights, sounds, and smells of France?! However, it got a bit redundant when the main character kept getting mildly interrupted with her big news. She had the same conversation about 5 times with her mother about when she would tell him and why it didn’t work out that day. Still, this book is an enjoyable summer read.

My only regret with reading this book was that I wasn’t sitting on the beach or by a pool to enjoy it! I read The Summer Getaway in one day, and I found it to be the perfect light read that was still fully engaging and had its fair share of twists and turns! I couldn’t help but hope for more as it ended after really getting to know the characters. Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC!

Ashley got pregnant with Molly young on holiday and now grown up Molly is a talented musician wanting to go to a prestigious college.

Haydon is a cellist with his daughter Ella whom may be moving away to be with her mum and new stepdad full time As they seem set on moving away.

As Ashley heads to the South of France for her stepdads aunt's birthday celebration, she passes by Haydon at a market only he spots her but doesn't realise at first. Then later They find out they're neighbours at their seperate villas!

As their daughter's become friends Ashley's mum lays on the pressure to come clean to Haydon about who her granddaughter truly is, his daughter too!

Only as chances slip by and Haydon and Ashley rekindle their old fling, she frets about how he will understand and more importantly, how the girls take the news as well...

Get whisked away on a summer holiday filled with celebrations, sports and activities as well as a shocking romance sizzling once again! Full of happiness, fun and plenty of tension throughout you won't want to put this down. Each character is unique and combined they all have a great time as they join up in France.

Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!

I feel like this is a new kind of direction for Tilly Tennant, and whilst it wasn't my favourite storyline of hers I still really enjoyed it and got through it quickly!

The story follows Ashley and her daughter Molly on a holiday to France where Ashley bumps into her daughters long-lost dad. Along the course of the story, Ashley and Haydon get to know each other and learn that there are still sparks flying between the pair. As well as this, Ashley needs to decide whether to tell Haydon that Molly is his daughter, or to keep it quiet. It's an intriguing and heartwarming story and I really enjoyed the ending.

Overall, a lovely summery book set in France - my favourite setting of a summer book! Thank you to the publisher for a chance to read this novel via Netgalley, which I have reviewed honestly.

2.5 stars

This was a hard book for me to rate. It's well written but I didn't connect to the story or any of the characters and I really disliked Ashley's mum.

I'm sure many people will enjoy it but unfortunately it wasn't for me.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Ashley and Haydon’s Story picks up over sixteen years after the first met an lost touch. A lot has happened during that time. Ashley gave birth to a daughter that Hayden knew nothing about and Hayden married and had a daughter with his ex-wife. They meet again unexpectedly while vacationing in the south of France. Eventually, the truth comes out and everyone tries to deal with the new normal.

Received this advanced copy from #netgallery. Loved this quick, light read, perfect for a summer weekend. I related to Ashley struggles and celebrations of being a single mom. All of the characters were likeable but also realistic in their portrayal of living as modern families, without making the story heavy.
