#NightofMiracles#NetGalley a novel by Elizabeth Berg, is a sweet story about families interacting in a small ficticious town, Mason Missouri. Each character is very well developed and you form a bond with almost all of them. They range from a very overweight man called Tiny to a very bright loving young boy with freckles who name is Lincoln.. If you like warm and fuzzy, then this book is for you. Would have liked the author to have included some of Lucille’s recipes for cakes, cookies and pies. Might have made for a more interesting novel.

I loved this story of Lucille, and elderly and lonely lady who finds that per purpose in life blossoms with developing friendships. I received this copy from NetGalley, and as a longtime fan of Elizabeth Berg, this title ranks way up there with her very best titles. Berg has a knack of description and especially frank and realistic dialogue with a hint of humor, that makes it approachable and interesting to read. I highly recommend this book to all who have enjoyed her other titles, as well as those who enjoy other authors such as Anne Tyler. Engaging, slightly humorous, witty, and frank, this book creates a snapshot of life beyond retirement, as one is losing friends and family.

Loved this book! There was just something about it. Loved how it alternated between the different characters and how everyone was connected. Everyone seemed liked they cared about each other and helped out when needed. I wanted to move to Mason, Missouri and take Lucille's baking course and become friends with Iris.

Iris recently moved to Mason, Missouri. She becomes friends with Tiny. Iris ends up getting a job with Lucille to help with the baking classes, even though she doesn't seem to have any baking knowledge and fails Lucille's test. Monica and Tiny are in love with each, but each has a hard time asking the other out on a date. Abby and Jason are going through some hard times and ask their neighbor Lucille to watch their son Link.

I loved the story, writing style and characters. I loved reading about Lucille, Iris, Link(plus all the others) and learning about them. I didn't realize this was the second book in a series, I don't think it made a difference except I would have known the characters backstory a little more. I'm so excited to read "The Story About Arthur Truluv" and learn more about Lucille, Arthur and Maddy. I didn't want the book to end, I wanted to see what everyone was up to and how their life changed. Hopefully there's another book!!

Definitely recommend this book. I can't wait to read more books by the author.

Thanks to NetGalley, Random House Publishing Group - Random House and the author, Elizabeth Berg, for a free electronic ARC of this novel.

I love Elisabeth Berg books. The storyline is always interesting and this time did not disappoint. The women involved are all ones you’d want as neighbors or friends. The baking school sounds like something I would go to in a heartbeat. Moving cross country would also be fun. Just stopping somewhere and putting down roots. There was heartbreak as well as new loves. Don’t miss this.

Oh, where to even begin? I absolutely love the characters in this book, who many I was first introduced to in The Story of Arthur Truluv (which is one of my ultimate favorite books of all times), and I was so thrilled to meet them again! Elizabeth Berg has this gifted talent of not only creating wonderful and amazing characters that you want to invite into your home for a cup of coffee, but can narrate the story with the tone that coincides so utmost perfectly to the character’s personality and tone. Reading her novels, especially within this series, is so enjoyable and easy, and I hate that the stories end and there aren’t any more pages to read! I am hoping for more really soon!

I did not expect to like this book as much as I did.

Charming.

I read an advanced copy of the book through NetGallery.

Oh, how I loved this book. I'd call this a comfort read, full of characters you'll care about in a small town you'll wish was real. Berg's writing style makes it a fast read, too. I didn't realize it was the second in a series, and now I HAVE TO go back and read the first -- and I hope there's a third.

Such a beautifully written book. I really enjoyed all of the different characters and how their lives intertwined. This was really a great book to read.

Night of Miracles is a feel-good look at people in a small town who take the time to get to know their neighbors and those who cross their daily life. Not everything is perfection and harmony, there are some warts, bumps and hard feelings. People protect their friends and are wary of outsiders. People jump to conclusions and sometimes take things at face value. Friendships are lost and won. Love can be elusive but it might be the savior of many.

The writing fits the people and place so beautifully that I want to quote chapter after chapter, not for the prose but for the truisms that have only just been revealed to me. There is so much not so common knowledge that should be taught, learned, understood. I hope that everyone who picks up this book is able to pick out all the “diamonds in a box”.

So much of Night of Miracles reminded me of Fannie Flagg’s books. Both writers are able to conjure the feel and smell of small town USA and the every day people who inhabit those places. They are able to create a story that will speak to so many. When I closed Night of Miracles I felt so fortunate to have had this book come my way.

How could you not love a book that allows a child to ask; “is it true that people get born because God puts His Thumb on their foreheads and pushes them down to earth?”!

Thank you NetGalley and Random House for a copy.

Before reading Night Of Miracles, I had not read Elizabeth Berg. I immediately had to go back and read Arthur Truluv. My advise would be to read Arthur Truluv #1 first, if you can. Night Of Miracles is a complete stand alone book, but there is so much rich detail and background history in Arthur Truluv, it may add to your reading enjoyment. Elizabeth Berg has crafted such likable characters, you would be happy to have them as your neighbors.

The story takes place in small town USA, Mason, Missouri. Lucille Howard, the matriarch at 93 years old, is holding the community together. She has not let her age slow her down. She has started giving cooking lessons in her home thanks to the help and encouragement of her former neighbor Arthur Truluv. When she learns her new neighbors, due to an emergency, find they need someone to watch their son, Lucille volunteers. She finds herself looking forward to spending time with Lincoln, as he is with her.

As it is often the case, Lucille does not know how much she means to everyone. She is coming to the end of her life, but she still has so much to give.

Elizabeth Berg has so many wonderful characters, it took me awhile to get them straight in my senior brain. LOL I struggled at the beginning, but I am so glad I didn't give up. This is such a sweet story about life, love, living and dying. I found myself with tears in my eyes and running down my checks more than once. I would highly recommend this book.

I received a copy of this book from Random House Publishers through NetGalleys. The Opinions expressed in this book are my own.

Night of Miracles is a continuation of the characters from The Story of Arthur Truluv. Lucille's character is my favorite. I don't know anybody who could not grow to love her. This was a fun read. Very light and quick. I enjoyed it more than I did it's predecessor. It had a few more elements to keep me reading. I love how everything was wrapped up in a neat little package at the end. I know some people don't always like that, but sometimes I feel like it is needed and this story needed that. I like that you could read this without having to read The Story of Arthur Truluv. I wasn't a huge fan of that one, but Night of Miracles I will definitely be recommending.

Elizabeth Berg’s characters and their viewpoints make me feel all the feels. A delightfully thought provoking return to Mason, Missouri. I love how she incorporates a hopefulness into death unlike any author I’ve read before.

Heartwarming, thoughtful and totally charming. I did not want this book to end. Ms Berg's cast of character's were quirky, smart and believable. Lucille's baking descriptions along with her apron collection seemed to bring out the best in everyone she encountered. While reading, I found myself reflecting on how each character had a powerful effect on each other just by being themselves. Night of Miracles grabbed my attention almost immediately and never let go until the end.

I've been a fan of Elizabeth Berg for a long time and was excited to be offered an advance version of her newest novel through NetGalley. I very much enjoyed this book. Ms. Berg is so adept at describing her characters and just making you love them (or hate them, depending). This book was no exception. The storyline was entertaining and sweet. My only "huh" moment was that I felt it ended abruptly; it left me wanting a little more time with these people. Even still, I wouldn't let that sway you from giving this book a shot.

I enjoyed reading Night of Miracles by Elizabeth Berg. I particularly liked the story line of Iris and Lucille's cooking classes. I'm not particularly a fan of stories with multiple story lines/points of view but this book was not confusing to me. It is a very sweet story and easy to read.

I received an advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review

This one was sweet but not quite as engaging as her other works. The quirk quotient is high but the inner narratives only go so deep.

I have read a lot of books by Elizabeth Berg and enjoyed them all - this was no exception! First off, I was unaware that while this is read beautifully as a standalone book, it's actually a continuation of a previous book by Ms Berg called "The Story of Arthur Truluv". Many of the same characters make appearances here, in a small fictional town in rural Missouri. We meet friends and neighbors of our likable main character, Lucille, who loves to bake and is very proficient at it. Lucille is elderly (80's) and much of the book is from her perspective. As a slightly "older" person myself, I could sure relate to many of Lucille's thoughts, opinions, and feelings. I truly enjoyed how this community of quirky characters interacted with one another, both young and old. There is romance, sickness, joviality, tenderness, and love interspersed throughout the pages of this book. It reminded me a lot of a Fannie Flagg novel (another author I adore) - so down to earth and yes, even heartwarming! Definitely recommend for a light, easy read -- sort of like comfort food, in book form. :-)
I was kindly given this book prior to it's release by Netgalley for my honest review.

This is the story of perfectly imperfect people in a small town. Yes there are miracles but mostly they are ordinary ones. Such a heartwarming story that in these times of turmoil gives hope and spreads love. At first I was confused by the multiple people and their points of view. But that quickly settles itself and a beautiful story unfolds. Share the love, buy the book! Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC.

I have read most of Elizabeth Berg's books, and this one is towards the top of my favorite books list, just as Elizabeth Berg is towards the top of my favorite authors list. My first encounter with this author was when I was handed Talk Before Sleep by a co-worker and dear friend, who sadly enough has since died from breast cancer.. At the time, we were both assistant managers in a large bookstore in Seattle and she loved to share great books she discovered in our store. I fell in love then and there with Elizabeth Berg's gift for storytelling. She writes extraordinary tales about characters you could run into anywhere in real life. Her character development is nothing short of excellent. She never fails to leave me waiting impatiently for her next book.

Night of Miracles is one of her best yet. I received a galley copy, which made me feel as though I had won some sort of book lottery, and immediately started reading it. Given that my reading list is miles long, this was akin to having someone butt in line at the front of a very long queue, but it was Elizabeth Berg. so of course her books are allowed to jump to the top of my reading list. My only regret now is that it has come to an end and life must go on, much as it does for the friends I met between the covers of her new book.
