Elizabeth Berg writes books about real people with real issues with real solutions involving people of all ages that we can relate to. Beautiful book about a lovely elderly woman who we met in her last novel Arthur Truluv; her new neighbors with a super awesome kid and going through a family crisis, a new arrival in the small town of Mason who finds a new life for herself after her divorce; a fat man named Tiny who thinks he needs to lose weight to get the woman of his dreams and several other great characters you can't help but love. Thoroughly enjoyed another great read by this author! Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC

I really enjoyed all the intertwining stories in this book. Elizabeth Berg does a great job of describing the characters and peppering the stories with important background information regarding the characters. Definitely worth the read!

This might just be my favorite Elizabeth Berg book yet! I've been reading her novels since her very first one and she's the only author whose collection of books I own in hardcover. Night of Miracles is a dream come true for any fiction lover. It is full of lovable and immensely believable characters, acute sensory attention to detail, and a story that feels complete in word as well as in my heart. This is one of those books that I wanted to read all over again as soon as I finished the last page!

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I would rate this 3.5 stars. I did not read the first book, so maybe that would have helped with this story. The characters were great, but the story seemed jumbled & not making sense how they were connected in the beginning of the story. The ending tied things together more.

I enjoyed this book immensely. Having read The Story of Arthur Truluv I felt as if I was back home seeing what has happened to the characters. What a wonderful sequel. This book forced me to think about having a simpler life where you actually know and love your neighbors. The author did an outstanding making the characters thoughtful and accepting of others . You could feel their humanity . If you Read the Night of Miracles you will not be disappointed.

Night of Miracles by Elizabeth Berg

A soft place to fall in to read and relieve the stress of your day.  Pleasant characters help each other without question. Interesting takes on life situations.  Arthur Truluv would be pleased.

Night of Miracles was a light read. It was hard to get in to at first but it was a nice change of pace. This book is a sweet story about small town and how communities come together. Nice summer read. Lucille being in her 90’s give me hope for a full long life. This women did not let anything stop her. Very well written and loved all the characters.

NIGHT OF MIRACLES by one of my favorite authors, Elizabeth Berg, is a total delight! This is a sequel to the wonderful THE STORY OF ARTHUR TRULUV, although it’s not necessary to read ARTHUR first.

I love the characters Berg has created and the sense of community she gives us in small town Mason, Missouri. Octogenarian Lucille Howard teaches popular baking classes (ooooh what delights ... I want to be in that class!) and shares love as well as recipes as she imparts her wisdom.

Tragedy strikes when a new family moves to Mason, and other residents face their fair share of hard times. The way that friends, especially the woman, circle ‘round to provide support and community so moved me that it brought tears. An upbeat, uplifting antidote to the constant
bad news swirling ‘round us in this world. To Berg I say, “Encore! Encore!” 5/5

4.5 stars - this was such an incredibly heartwarming book. It is a sequel/companion to The Story of Arthur Truluv and centers around Lucille Howard and introduces some new residents of Mason, Missouri. It is not necessary to have read The Story of Arthur Truluv, but it would definitely allow you to appreciate the book even more. I laughed at Lucille's comments and observations and cried with the characters as well. I highly recommend this book and look hope there are more books about the town and residents of Mason.

I would like to thank Elizabeth Berg, Net Galley and Random House Publishing for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was magical. Every single character was so beautifully written that I felt like I knew them personally. Technically this book is part 2 of The Story of Arthur Trulove ~ however, I haven't read that book yet and I wasn't lost

This book is everything; love, hope, life and miracles.. Elizabeth Berg is in my Top Ten List of favorite authors because her writing is like that comfy pair of jeans that always make you feel happy

P!ease please please please read this book. Please buy this book for a friend. With everything going on in the world, love and hope are essential right now.

I loved this book - and I'll admit, it made me shed a tear or two! Lucille was a great character, sweet but very stubborn. I found her very relatable and realistic; really well developed.

I thoroughly enjoyed seeing how all of the characters in the book interacted with and affected one another - it really brings home how small actions can set off chain reactions and make more of a difference than you think! And the female friendships and support in the book were just lovely to read.

I wish I could live in the little town of Mason, Missouri and take those baking classes - those desserts sound amazing!

I've never read Elizabeth Berg before, but I'll definitely be making a point to read more of her in the future; I thoroughly enjoy her world-building and characters. I didn't realize this book was a sequel to "The Story of Arthur Truluv. " I feel as though I may have enjoyed the mentions of the primary characters of that book more if I had read that book first, but this book was certainly still very enjoyable even as a standalone.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I just love Elizabeth Berg. For me, she is one of those authors that can take me away from all the mess in this world and me me feel like there is hope.

This book is no different. Lucille is in her 80's and bakes, she has baking classes that has become a part of the community.

This is a wonderful, feel good story where you will meet and get to know the whole town.

It's wonderful to be able to find books that just make you feel good. Sometimes, that what we need!

I would like to thank Netgalley for an advanced copy

I have long been a reader of Elizabeth Berg, and this one does not disappoint. Rich language, complex characters and a fast moving plot made for a very good read. At first I had trouble following all the myriad stories, but i really loved the characters and the ordinariness of life with extraordinary characters. I fell in love with the characters and their ways of living their lives.

I am a huge fan of Elizabeth Berg & this one did not disappoint. I was so glad to revisit Mason, Missouri & see how Lucille & Maddy were doing. I loved the new characters that were introduced. I wish Berg had added some of the recipes Lucille makes!

Thank you to both Random House Publishing Group & NetGalley for an advanced copy of the Night if Miracles in exchange for my honest review. Night of Miracles by Elizabeth Berg is the sequel to The Story of Arthur Truluv, although it can be probably read as a stand alone book. Like the first book, it's set in the small town of Mason, Missouri and there is a cast of characters that inevitably become intertwined. I think that's where the book fell a little short for me, as there was one too many storylines to follow. The first book centers really around 3 lost souls that find happiness together. This one has the family next door Jason, Abby & Lincoln, new characters Iris, Monica and Tiny, the angel of death is roaming around, and of course Lucille, Maddy & Nola. Maybe just one too many storylines to follow that you can't really dig deep into some of the new ones. It is indeed a very light read with inspiration throughout, I think I just preferred Truluv a bit more as it was more focused.

Night of Miracles is the sequel to The Story of Arthur Truluv. It can be read as a standalone, however, I highly recommend you read Arthur Truluv first. The main characters are introduced by means of alternating voices in the opening chapters of the novel. Lucille Howard, eighty-eight years old, is living in the house that Arthur left to Maddy and is missing her friends. Lucille is feeling her age and realizing that she may have lived past her time of importance and relevance. Falling in love with Frank in high school and reconnecting at the age of eighty-three, only to have him die of a heart attack before they marry, reinforces the feeling of "here, then gone again." Lucille dreams of Frank, intense dreams, she smells Old Spice and "hears his voice as plain as day." When an angel appears to summon her, Lucille resists and shows why she has to stay.

Iris, Abby, and Monica have their own issues with men, independence, and loneliness.

Berg has a gift for weaving mundane life events together to show how relevant we are in ways that we cannot see and how love can find us when we least expect it. She gives us hope, love, and acceptance in a heartwarming tale of friendship that captivates and amuses. I wish that I had reread Arthur Truluv prior to reading this one, I loved that story and am so glad that Berg wrote the sequel. Not all sequels reflect the craftsmanship of the original story, but Berg does not disappoint her readers. The spirit of Arthur lives on in this heartwarming tale. To be published in November, I will be giving both novels as holiday presents.

I am a big fan of Elizabeth Berg and she did not disappoint me with Night of Miracles. It is a wonderful story about surprising friendships, community and the way small acts of kindness can change a life. It captures the beauty of friendships between the young and the not so young. You are pulled into the lives of enduring characters that will capture your heart and stay with you long after you have finished reading it. It is a follow up book to The Story of Arthur Truluv. Although it is not a must that the books are read in order, I would highly recommend doing so if you intend to read both. Many of the characters and storylines carry over from Arthur Truluv. Perfect for a quick weekend read or a long flight.
