The book is average and the end was predictable for me based on the hints given.
I finished the book but did not found it very engaging.

Full review to come.
I deeply apologize, but life is a handful lately and I'm using all my free time to read, not review. I hope everybody understands.

This is a suspense filled second chance romance set in Cape Cod and featuring Malorie Montgomery and Dean Slater. Their High School romance finished abruptly because of a misunderstanding but it broke Malorie’s heart and she’s anticipating seeing him again now, six years later. However, when her screams on discovering grisly remains bring him running to her rescue, he still wants to protect her and their attraction to each other is as strong as ever. As a killer stalks the town, danger threatens and Malorie could be a future victim . . . .

This is an enthralling mix of serial killer investigation and second chance romance with a real twist at the end - I didn’t see that coming, though it was obvious once you knew what had happened! There are secrets to be uncovered, misunderstandings to be cleared up and communication will be the key to them achieving any chance of a HEA together in this enthralling romantic suspense and crime thriller.

I requested and was given a copy of this book, via NetGalley. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

Dangerous currents by Kathryn knight.

I received by this book from netgalley for an honest review.

The plot of the book was over all brilliant and the way the place was described made me feel like I was there, but unfortunately I’ve got to say I didn’t love the story. The storytelling didn’t make me feel the connection from the main characters or between the main characters. The book is a romantic suspense but I didn’t feel the suspense until one of the very last chapters where it all kicked off and then I was on the edge of my seat.

I got who the killer was from the moment the author planted the seed early on, to me it wasnt planted deep enough for you to miss it whilst you were reading but then remember it later on when all was revealed and the pieces clicked into place like it did for the main character.

For me it took a long time for the characters the get together which lost my interest and still there was a lot of resistance from both of the characters when they did get back together. With her pushing him away in a hopes that he would have a happy life and then again right at the end when he tried to push her away so she could have a happy life without him. They both used the same tactics and it bored me a little. I wanted him or her to take a different route to making their point stick.

The build up to the ending was dramatic and did had me sitting on the edge of my seat but then I got lost in how over descriptive it was. We heard more about what was happening to the bathroom then what was happening the the characters. I also found it hard to concentrate on what was actually happening between the characters as a result over the over discription. I wanted a little less on the scenery and more on what was happening. I wanted it to be more gripping, to ull me in a little more.

I didnt get the overwhelming urge to know what happened next once I’d finished the book and that’s a big thing for me. I love finishing a book and still wanting more. Even though the author did tie the ending up very nicely.

The last place Malorie expected to be was back in the same town as her high school sweetheart and the one man who crushed her heart, Dean. He’s never far from her thoughts but it’s been six years and surely, he’s moved away, right?

She’s taking her dog for a walk when she stumbles over a partially buried body. She screams bloody murder and the one man she can’t handle seeing again appears before her. In the flesh and not a part of her wild imagination, Dean appears as if to rescue her. It’s as if the universe is giving her a redo. Can she reveal her long-buried feelings towards him or is it too late? She better figure it out and soon, because there’s a killer on the loose and his sights are set on her.

I’m a huge romantic suspense fan and I must admit, Dangerous Currents had me guessing until the very end. Malorie and Dean are addictive to read and I give full credit to the author for the dual POV. Not only did I get a chance to piece together what happened six years ago, but I got to see inside Dean’s heart. He’s a blue-collar guy who work hard to get over his family’s misdeeds. He’s got a lot of pent-up feelings for Malorie and her father yet puts all that aside when her life is in danger.

The second-chance romance between Malorie and Dean lit up my e-reader. Talk about intense! There’s plenty of obstacles between these two yet if they can talk it all out, there might be a chance for a happily-ever-after for these two. Serious topics come up including mental illness, drinking, suicide and family drama. Kathryn Knight portrays it all brilliantly and I give her kudos for not glossing over it.

I started reading Dangerous Currents and couldn’t stop reading. Yes, it was that good! Highly recommend, especially if you like romantic suspense.

Disclaimer: I received an ARC from the author in the hopes I’d review it.

Favorite Character/Quote: Malorie. When I first started reading, she was a puzzle to me. I didn’t quite understand her reactions and emotions to Dean until much later. As the story unfolds, it all becomes clear and instantly I wanted to wrap my arms around her and tell her it’s going to be okay. She’s been through so much, but she doesn’t need to be alone suffering in silence anymore.

My Rating: 5 stars

I have to say this book kept me in suspense. But, I did have a hard time following the story line, there is so much going on.
Malorie and Dean are the main characters, they had a romance that began in High School and ended abruptly due to a misunderstanding. Years later, Malorie moves back to Cape Cod where she had met Dean, not realizing he still lives there. An unexpected tragedy throws them together.
I found the mesh of romance mixed with crime made for a enjoyable read. The ending was not what I expected and was very unpredictable.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a book full of crime and romance.

I enjoyed this read. Mal and Dean had a huge misunderstanding in high school that caused them to break up. Fast forward six years and they end up living on the same street only houses apart. I liked how sweet Mal and Dean were and how each wanted to protect themselves but couldn't fight their attraction. I thought Mal's concerns about her past were valid but a little overblown in terms that she wouldn't ever try to have a relationship. The suspense part of the story felt underdeveloped for me. That being said, I enjoyed this read.
