Historical mystery and romance. Interestingly highlights the value placed on woman at the time and the disapproval of interests outside the norm.
Enjoyable read.

It is reading stories such as this that make me realize why I love historical romance so much. Rich Man brings us two exciting characters, one that defines the emotionally hurt hero, Blake Edison and Willow Gilchrist, a Lady willing to give up her happiness to aid her family. Blake is a rich importer who has made his money from the fabric business but is ultimately focused on revenge. His father, the Duke of Somerset had left his actress mother and would not provide any help before she died.
Lady Willow Gilchrist has had a passion for designing clothing and matching with fabric and she gets introduced to Blake when she is at her modiste. Unfortunately she becomes engaged to the son of Somerset as her feelings for Blake ignite.
The writing flowed effortlessly and the storyline was intense, filled with revenge, suspense and many turns.. I fell in love with Blake and Willow. They were meant for each other and you could feel the emotions coming off the page. As I sit here after turning the last page, I can only hope that the next books in this series come out quickly. I can hardly wait. Thank you Laura Landon for such an amazing story.

Wealthy importer of fabrics Blake Edison is a self made man who will stop at nothing to destroy the Duke of Somerset the man who should have saved Edison’s mother from starving in the streets and didn’t. Lady Willow Gilchrist is the daughter of an earl but longs to be able to indulge in her ability as a dress designer. She has been bequeathed a huge dowry from her Grandmother & so draws the attention of the Duke of Somerset who proposes a marriage between Willow & his heir Quentin Marvell, the Marquis of Kendrick. Blake & Willow meet when she visits his fabric warehouse with Madame Georgette Boulereau, the modiste who helps Willow with her designs. Their attraction is immediate but they are from such diverse backgrounds.
I really like the author’s books the stories are well written & flow effortlessly, the characters are very well drawn. I read the book in two sittings as I was loathe to put it down. Blake & Willow are so likeable & their attraction sizzles but there are huge obstacles in their way. I was drawn into the story from the beginning & at times wondered how Blake & Willow could be together. I also liked Quentin who was very much a pawn manipulated by his horrid father, I hope he has his story, maybe the poor man?
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Blake Edison is a self-made man in the textiles industry. He is consumed by a need to destroy the Duke of Somerset, who he holds a grudge against for not saving his mother. He has been planning for years and is near his goal when he comes across Willow Gilchrist in a modiste's shop. Willow is being courted by the Duke's son and loves fashion and she forms a friendship with Blake which swiftly turns to romance.
A well balanced and exciting plot. Well worth a read.

‘Rich Man’ is centred around the prosperous Blake Edison, who has made a fortune for himself in the textiles industry. However, Blake is desperate to ruin the Duke of Somerset, who turned him away when he was young, refusing to help Blake’s dying mother. His revenge finds him thrown together with Lady Willow Gilchrist, who is set to marry Somerset’s son, such that her dowry will pay of the duke’s debts. In exchange, two of Willow’s brothers will receive estates that are not entailed by the duke. Willow has a secret and that is that she has a passion for designing clothes. She finds herself in the company of Blake as he begins to set up a new business with Willow’s dressmaker. Willow’s struggle to commit to marriage, becomes even more difficult as she finds herself attracted to Blake.
This was a very entertaining book with both two strong characters in Willow and Blake. The secondary characters also helped to flesh out the story. I do look forward to more in this series, hopefully with Blake’s half-brother, Kendrick.
I received a copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Their new friendship begins to burn into a passion neither can deny. Blake see the perfect opportunity to disrupt the Dukes plans again, but can Blake exact his revenge without Willow getting hurt. I loved Blake and Willow's story!

Willow loves to design dresses and to pick out the fabrics that they are made from, so she is ecstatic when she is invited to see where her seamstress gets all her luscious material. At the warehouse she meets Blake. They feel an instant attraction for one another, but because of their stations they know nothing can ever come from it.

Willow is practically engaged and doesn't know that Blake has it out for the father of the would be groom. Can Blake exact his revenge without Willow getting caught up in the mess?

I'm excited to see what Landon has planned for the upcoming books in the series!
