She's a runaway bride...running straight towards the one man who always wants what he can't have. We met Bella and Christian in book one, The Hook Up, so there some backstory readers need to have. On the night of her bachelorette party, Bell discovers the perfect future she envisioned with her Prince Charming is all a lie and he's been unfaithful to her. Desperate to have her own HEA she gives him a second chance...but it doesn't last long. Digesting heart crushing news takes some time and at the moment of matrimony, Bella panics and asks for Christian's help to escape the wedding she can't go through with.

Christian is...rough. He's definitely not the nicest or most charming hero, but I'm loving McCarthy's new anti-heroes. Christian is Jared from his baby-mama drama; his son is a shining light and everything right that Christian isn't. He always goes towards unattainable women so he doesn't have to worry about them getting attached. So his new found fascination with rich princess Bella is confusing to him...but he can't deny the chemistry. She may be prom and proper, but when he whisks her away from her wedding at the last second, he begins to peel back all the layers that make her beautiful on the inside as well as the outside.

I love that McCarthy gives us a before, during, and and after with this couple. There's a large part of Bella's story that focuses on her discovering happiness for herself and BY herself rather than just with a man. (But don't get me wrong...there is the customary HEA for our girl) Christian may be a bad boy but he's definitely got some good sides to him, despite some questionable choices. The whole story is filled with self-discovery and some super steamy scenes! Another win from Erin!

The book I’m reviewing today is “The Breakup” by Erin McCarthy. Now, the book started with me doing a lot of eye-rolling seeing as how intensely it reminded me of Fifty Shades, especially with the main character named Christian, but I tried to look past that. After all, this Christian is a single father who is terrified of commitment, whoops–still sounds like Fifty. Anyways, this book was unfortunately too cliche for my taste. It’s basically a story of a rich, snobby “princess” who falls in love with the “bad boy” with commitment issues. The “princess” is engaged to a cheating scum. We then witness her leaving her horrible fiancee for Christian, a twin whom she meets at a bar. Christian turns her world upside-down (sexually) and shows her how a woman really should be treated. All in all, I didn’t feel like there was too much to gather from this book.

Despite it being a part of a series, the book stands alone. Albeit cliche, it is a fast and semi-enjoyable read if you can get past the whole Fifty Shades scenario. This book, unfortunately, left me without the desire to delve into the first book.

This is a book I’ve had on my kindle shelf for awhile but there were a few books I wanted to finish before I started it. I’m kinda bummed I waited. It was really good. I read the first in the series but this one blew it out of the water. I enjoyed watching the love story between the two play out but I thought it went on a little long at the end. Four stars.

My Review: The Breakup opens with a bit of rocky footing, but manages to smooth its stride as time goes on. It hasn't been too long since I read the first book, The Hookup, but apparently it has been long enough that I lost a lot of important details that lead to the goings-on of The Breakup. For that reason, the opening of this book feels so jarring and awkward, and why I am highly recommending anyone interested in this book read The Hookup first.

I don't want to spoil anything for you, but a few things happen in this book that didn't work for me, and made one character lose some respect in my eyes. It's probably just a personal thing, but it did pull me out of the story. Also, about the same time, the pacing started to feel a little rushed, so it was difficult to keep up.

It's not all bad, though, I promise! The characters are intriguing, the plot realistic, and the character interactions are, for the most part, genuine. If you like your New Adult Contemporary Romances with a dose of flawed reality, this is definitely a book for you!

Cover Lovin': Thumbs up!

Recommendation: Knowledge of the first book, The Hookup, is recommended.

Final Rating: THREE out of FIVE stars (3/5)! Good, but has a few hiccups that might turn off some readers.

I voluntarily read an advanced review copy of this book for my honest review

Bella and Christian were the perfect example of opposites attract. I loved that Christian took her on this adventure where she got to experience things she never thought she would like and finally let her hair down and be herself. I think the only thing I found that bothered me is that... I wish that she would have really had a moment when she stood strong by herself without the help of others.

Overall a funny and romantic book!

All she wanted was a husband to love and have a family but what she got was a conniving cheating ex which she luckily found out about two weeks before their wedding. To get even she goes to a bar to pick up someone for revenge. She meets Christian who has his own fair share of problems but steps up to the plate. Christian and Bella makes for an intriguing couple that finds themselves putting their lives back together after betrayal of their ex's. Can they bring closure to their past and build a future together? I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

As I enjoyed the first book in this series, I was eager to pick this one up. I liked this one as well but it took a little bit of time to get there. This series is a bit grittier than much of what I read which is one of the reasons that I like it. It feels a bit different and novel to me. The characters are flawed with a capital F. But, one of the things I love about this one is that the book allows you to watch the characters really grow as people. The heroine, Bella, was particularly difficult to like initially. But, she came together for me as she grew as a person. Christian is a fascinating hero and I loved learning more about him as the book moved forward. They are a really interesting couple and I loved watching them grow into each other over the book. Really liked this one ... warning - it's quite sexy so if that's not your kind of romance, this won't be for you. But, if you're ok with some heat, this is a good one to read!

Erin McCarthy has written some great books, although this is not one of them. Christian was a great dad, but not so great as a romantic hero. It was an easy, breezy read, but there wasn't much substance to the plot.

The Breakup is the second book in the Jordan Brothers series and it follows two characters from The Hookup that I just could not care about. The siblings of the characters from The Hookup. I really enjoyed the first book and wanted some closure where the rift between the two Jordan brothers were concerned so even though I wasn't a huge fan of both Bella and Christian before, I still wanted to read this book.

When Bella discovers that her fiance is a lying scumbag, she can't go through with the wedding but the dingbat waits until the last possible second to end things so Christian has to come and sweep her off to his family cabin to hide away for a few days. Christian and Bella have been circling each other, an attraction between them but nothing came of it because Bella was getting ready to marry Brad. When her situation changes, Christian jumps at his chance to prove to Bella that she's not bad in bed (as Brad would have her believe).

Honestly, this whole book was kind of ridiculous. I was frustrated with Bella for most of the book because she's kind of whiny and acts like a brat and I'm too old for that shit. I loved her sister's personality in the first book, her wit and how strong Sophie was. Bella didn't get the same kind of love from me that Sophie did. Sure, she's strong and she really does come into her own but I didn't completely shake my annoyance with her so my enjoyment of the book suffered because of it.

Christian kind of came off as a fuckboy in the beginning and in the end, he was a lot better but he wasn't my favorite either. So, we finally find out the truth about what happened between him and Ali (his brother's ex) and how the rift between him and Cain became a thing and while I was able to forgive him for that, he continued to piss me off. The way that he chose to handle things had me shaking my head and even when the end comes and everything is all happy go lucky again, I thought it happened too fast and I wasn't completely satisfied. I almost DNF'd this one but even though this book pissed me off, it was still readable and I couldn't give it up until the end. Still, grrrr.

Grade: 2.5 out of 5

I'm like new born baby for Erin's book but she take care about me very well ❤

After reading Christian and Bella's story there's any chance for BREAK UP between me and Erin.

I love to discover new authors even if my TBR sometimes looks like totally DISASTER😅 I'm adding everythig what I would like to read and them BAM... I'm thinking when I'll get time to read all this books???

Why I'm saying this ???? BECAUSE I should have a little talk with Erin....after meeting Christian and Bella I have TONS of new books to read... and YES that's right, they all Erin's ones 😘 She knew exactly how to write The Breakup to made me fall in love in her books.

I didn't JUST read this book, I CONSUMED it with the speed of light. I love this sweet and very sexy story.

I like also how Bella and Chtisitan affect for each other and loved that they have a little different people around... I would tell much more about them, because they also steal my heart.... but it would be not ok for this people who didn't read this book and want some suprises.

Now forgive me I must dissapeard ... The Hookup by Erin called JUST my name 😘

I'm not sure how I feel about Bella at first she was all about looking her best and acting polite, all too pretentious. While I know that was instilled to her growing up, I wanted her to have a backbone. I'm not too keen on her plan of revenge sex to even out her cheating fiance will really help her out. But hey it's the town bad boy who she's attracted too so it's killing two stones.

Christian is a self proclaimed douche, he knows it and admits it. He's done stuff on purpose without knowing really why. He and Bella have good banter and chemistry though. There's no dull moment in this story, it did feel kind of rushed the second half. Missing stuff and felt glossed over details, it wasn't minor either. Not to give it away but Christian did something that just ruined it for me and Bella just swept it under the rug felt like a doormat. After I thought he was redeeming himself and I thought she was getting herself together more.

Especially in the end, there was a part that really felt awkward to me and not genuine at all. To get the happy ending that felt so forced. Obviously things are still stilted with Christian and his brother Cain, the bad blood hasn't quite yet been bridged. I enjoyed book, The Hookup better this was ok but parts that didn't work for me.

I loved Bella and Christian's story. It's complex with a touch of impossible. They're completely different, but then again, opposites attract right? That's what happens with these two characters! But they're also similar in many ways, particularly stubborn and reserved, but even so, it works for them.

I like that there's more to Bella than we're lead to believe for the majority of the first book and some of the second. Although she seems like a spoiled princess, there's something more authentic and unique under all the hairspray and makeup. We see her vulnerable and likable side throughout The Breakup. We also get more of Christian's story here. Again, we're led to believe something different about him in the first book, especially since the first is from his brother Cain's POV. There's bitterness between them, but we get Christian's side of the story in this one. We see that there's more to him than his bad reputation and tough exterior. There's a soft and vulnerable side to him as well, that complement's Bella's.

Overall, although the pace slows at times, the tension is pretty high and plot is definitely intriguing. I enjoyed seeing Bella and Christian work through their differences. Their banter and chemistry add to the spiciness of the story, and the ending - that ending is definitely full of the feels. Loved it!

HOT, HOT, HOT!!! I enjoyed reading The Breakup by Erin McCarthy, book two in The Jordan Brothers series. A few days before her fairy tale wedding, Bella discovers proof that her fiancé has been cheating on her with bar bathroom hook-ups. Not wanting to go through with the wedding, Bella wants until the morning of the ceremony to runaway. Bartender and woman-whore Christian picks up Bella when she is in need of a ride and helps hide her as she escapes the ceremony. Bella was not very experienced or confident about sex, especially after the criticism from her former fiancé. Asking Christian to show her what to do to pleasure a man and make sex feel special might not have been her brightest thought or request. Christian has no problem sleeping with Bella, but these two have a connection that neither ever felt before. What are these two opposites to do when they fall for each other, especially when complications arise?

Ms. McCarthy wrote a very hot story; filled with sexual chemistry, fun dialogue, and endearing characters. Beware, the heat level is high as there’s a lot of sexy time between Christian and Bella. I definitely recommend this book to other readers.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

This is a new to me author, so I didn't know what to expect. The blurb sounded interesting enough for me to want to read it. I found the couple acting younger than their age and I didn't feel the things the story was trying to tell me. I needed more showing and less telling. I had difficulty warming up to Christian. He did not strike me as the romantic hero that I wanted. Maybe he was more realistic than I am used to in books in the way he thought and behaved. If he was not having sex, he was talking or thinking about it. Other than being hot and nicely built, I wasn't sure what Bella's attraction to him was. I think this story may appeal to a younger reader that likes a faster-paced modern romance.

The Breakup, by Erin McCarthy, is the 2nd book in her "Jordan Brothers" series.
It is Bella and Christian's story.
Bella, a "princess" is about to have her fairy-tale wedding when she learns that her fiance is a cheating liar. She feels revenge sex is the only way to even the score and wouldn't local bartender and playboy Christian Jordan be the perfect man for the job. A man with secrets and problems of his own, he is intrigued by Bella and her situation. What starts as revenge for Bella and lust for Christian quickly becomes a hot and steamy romance.
Can they remain connected or will their vastly different lives tear them apart.
A hot, fun and very entertaining book that I couldn't put down.

Thank you to NetGalley and Loveswept for an arc of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

We met Bella Bigelow in The Hookup, which was Sophie and Cain's story. Cain's twin brother Christian Jordan becomes Bella's love interest in The Breakup. Currently, Bella is engaged to Bradley. She has suspected him of cheating. Once it is confirmed, she comes up with a plan. She wants Christian to teach her all about sex so that she can make Bradley want her - and then she'll dump him. Meanwhile, Christian is looking for his next hookup. He wants an unavailable woman and Bella may just be that woman. But then he discovers more than a few complications when it comes to his plan to seduce her.

For the most part Christian and Bella are interesting characters. Christian is a single father, a bartender and is not such a likeable guy in the first book, The Hookup. But this is his story here, and we get to see some layers peeled off. But, he still could have been better. Bella is quite confused. Actually she is rather vapid at times. She wants Bradley. She doesn't want Bradley. She wants Christian. She doesn't want Christian. It was a real boon when she came around to accepting who her heart, mind and body really wanted.

If you like a truly spicy read, then be sure to pick up this book! Bella and Christian share an amazing chemistry. The two make a great pair - he is as hot as they come and she is sexy as hell. If you want a quick, light and enjoyable read, be sure to pick up this book as well as the first in the series, which I would definitely recommend reading first. As there are more brothers, no doubt the series will continue.

Many thanks to Loveswept and to NetGalley for this ARC to review; this is my honest opinion.

I enjoyed Bella and Christian’s story. They definitely had chemistry which led to some great sexy scenes. Along with the heat and chemistry, they had wit and humor and plenty to playful banter. With the crazy way their relationship began, you knew the road to their HEA was going to be a bit bumpy. But with all the bumps and angst, I loved the growth of character they both went through finding their way.

Bella is ALWAYS polite, prim, and proper...until she's not. While at her Bachelorette party, Bella has a little too much to drink and "steals" a drink while making harsh comments to the bartender-Christian. In effort to be "nice" to Bella, Christian offers her the drink on the house. While he believes her behavior to be that of a spoiled rich girl, he also thinks she's the most beautiful woman he's ever met. Too bad she's engaged or is she? After finding various "hidden" messages to women on her fiance's phone, Bella has to decide if she wants to be polite or be a run away bride.

Christian, never having the family unit he's always dreamed of, vows to never have kids until he makes a commitment. Having already messed up that plan, Christian vows to be the best dad he can with his focus solely on his son. Until he meets Bella. She's everything he's ever wanted, but can't have and thinks he doesn't deserve.

It's always easy to say what you'd do in certain situations, until you're actually in that exact situation. While I was cheering for Bella to believe she had value, I realize that's hard to do when you've been raised to be obedient and not question what you're told to do, even as an adult. It was awesome to see Bella's transformation. The overwhelming theme was "Don't judge a book by its cover". They both misjudged the other, but came to love who they were apart and together. I truly enjoyed this novel. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

This is the second book in the series and chronicles the life of Bella, Sophie’s sister who the reader met in the first book, “The Hookup.” Bella comes off as a spoiled rich girl who will do anything to get married but that is not the case. It just takes her a while to realize her worth. Helping her on this journey is Christian, Cain’s brother who is dating Sophie. While Bella is engaged to be married, she learns of her fiancé’s infidelity and has no qualms of continuing his behavior after he is married. After going back and forth, she ultimately jilts him at the alter and calls Christian to pick her up. Christian has his own baggage to deal with and does not need to get involved with Bella. However, sometimes what a person wants and what actually happens are two very different things. Bella and Christian are intensely attracted to each other. Even though they are opposites, can they have their happily ever after? This is one well written storyline filled with Ms. McCarthy’s penchant for snark, steamy scenes and the underlying theme of not judging a book by its cover.
I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book provided by Netgalley.
