At certain points (a lot more than I expected) throughout this story I actually forgot why I didn’t like Christian in the first book, The Hookup. I’m not necessarily satisfied with his reasons for what he did to his brother in the past, but I really got to see that he’s not a bad guy. In fact, he’s really a good guy and he’s doing what he can to be a good father.

As for Bella, I knew there was more to her than the rich stuck-up Stepford wife type young lady we met in that first book. We got to see glimpses of the real Bella in that previous story. Just as I could see how her sister didn’t fit the mold her family expected in book one, I saw how Bella did everything in her power to fit that same mold so as not to disappoint anyone. Bella is a people pleaser, even when that pleasing makes her miserable. For whatever reason, Christian gives her that safe space to be her true self. They may not voice their thoughts about how safe they feel with each other, but at some deep level they can feel that connection.

The progression of this story was a bit different and I really enjoyed the flow. The relationship didn’t take the usual route. It’s not that Christian and Bella did things exactly backward, they were all over the place…but it really worked, and worked well. On top of their relationship, it was good to see that Christian and his twin Cain are slowly working on their own relationship.

While I don’t think you have to read the first book to enjoy this book, it would bring so much more to the story. It may seem like a pretty good book if you don’t read book one first, but having read both it takes this story to a whole other level. This story is amazing! There were a few more tidbits about the rest of the Jordan siblings that have me intrigued for the next book.

Awful to awkward to awesome! Yes, that is what is going on in this second book of The Jordan Brothers series. I haven't read the first book yet, but I'm going to catch up with Cain and Sophie again real soon. Actually, this is my first Erin McCarthy book and I'm having a bit of a girl crush at the moment. I got my HEA and it was a very enjoyable ride getting there.

I just loved Bella! She's graceful, sincere and thoughtful, honest and kind, even when those around her don't deserve her best qualities. She also a bit naive and entirely too trusting in her dirtbag fiancé. Lucky for her she wished up at the last minute and chose the perfect person to help her out of her situation. Enter Christian Jordan, sexy and aloof with a swagger that borders on comical. A good guy to those who matter most in his life, though certainly not perfect at all. This is a amazing pairing of sweet and a bit raw.

The story unfolds in such a way that I felt anger and outrage followed by vindication. There was some smexy to smooth the jagged edges and then the sweetness of falling in love and the anxiousness of what might come next, followed up with a huge helping of awwweeeee that's so sweet! I got everything I was hoping for from this book. Thanks, Erin! I'm going to be checking out more of her stories.

Bella is a rich socialite that always does what she’s told. When she discovers her fiancée has been cheating on her, she allowed herself to be persuaded to follow through with the wedding. Until the day of the wedding. Then she panicked!

Christian is a hot bartender on the outs with his twin brother. They had both slept with the same girl, she ended up pregnant & no one knows who the father is. Now, he’s attracted to a rich spoiled socialite & is helping her run away from her wedding & hide out. How much more trouble can he get into?

I feel like both Bella & Christian grew up & matured in this book. Bella was spoiled & indulged as long as she did whatever she was told. Christian didn’t see anything wrong with his reputation or his ways with women. His redeeming factors were that he regretted the loss of his relationship with his brother & he tried to be a good father. Their relationship was extremely rocky & at times, unbelievable. This was an entertaining read but I had trouble finding a connection with the characters. Part of it was me since I’m not a fan of the dual point of views.

Bella learns that her fiancé has cheated on her more than once and has decided not to marry him. The problem is she does not know how to tell people that she wants to call it off. When she does decide it is 30 minutes before her wedding and the person she calls to get her is Christian. There are things to dislike about his character but he is raising his son with the help of his mother while the mother walked away. The time he and Bella are together are hot and also helpful for both until it falls apart. Bella wants to be with him but now must find a way to do it and let him think that it is his idea. All of that plus the time at the cabin make for a very good book.

I had mixed feelings about The Breakup for most of the book. On a positive note, the story is well-written and the flow is good. It is the second book in the series, which I didn't know until I started reading. On that note, this is technically Christian and Bella's story, but there are several things mentioned that I'm assuming were in the first book and some of that carries over into this one. Nevertheless, after some initial confusion, I got the gist of those things and was able to follow the story.

For the most part, my issues lay with this couple. I liked the runaway bride scenario and at times these two were witty and fun. I also liked the interactions with Christian's son - A baby in the mix is always sure to get a smile. However, I found it hard to like either of these characters. Christian comes across as an unfeeling jerk for a lot of the book. A sexy jerk who knows his way around a woman's body, but a jerk nonetheless. When confronted with life altering news, his actions are more juvenile than those of a grown man with a child. Then we have Bella, who has a go along to get along attitude until she doesn't, and just when I thought she was going to show some growth, she turns back into a doormat. These two certainly generate their share of steam, but Bella's response to it afterward is almost clinical rather than what you'd expect from someone who is supposed to be blown away by Christian's skills. Finally, we come to the ending, which felt rushed and quite honestly, I felt less of a connection between this pair at the end than at any other time in the book.

From the blurb and high ratings from other early reviewers, I expected so much more from this one. I also realize that I'm in the minority, but it is what it is. This story is clearly not my cup of tea, nor does what I found encourage me to check out the first book in the series. It's safe to say that I wouldn't recommend this one.

3.5 Stars:

I had a couple of mixed emotions about Christian. I didn't like his character much with the first book, and hardly much more in The Breakup. I was not sure at first if I was going to finish. Then a little bit of spark came back when Bella is around. That got the story started for me. So even if it started slow for me at the beginning it did get better. The end of the book seemed a little rushed. I could easily see these pushed as two Novellas to get the complete story. I am a big fan of Erin McCarthy, but these characters were a little hard to get into.

The novel had a very unpleasant beginning introducing characters who were unappealing. The actions were coarse. I was repulsed by what I had read and had no desire to continue reading. DNF YMMV

When I started this one I was sure I was not going to enjoy it and for most of it I just gritted my teeth and kept reading because it was an ARC and I finish those but after a while it started to get better. Bella was going to get married but the groom is cheating on her and finally on her wedding day she bolted and called Christian who came and picked her up. Runaway Bride and the bartender...These two have been circling each other and establishing a weird kind of friendship and the rescue cemented everything. The Jordan brothers and the Bigelow sisters are opposites and yet they work. Both stories in this series were kinda off but okay.

Erin McCarthy has a real talent for not only telling a compelling story, but for blending the different perspectives of the hero and heroine seamlessly. I loved reading about two people trying to figure out who they were under trying circumstances. Ms. McCarthy does a wonderful job of pulling her readers into the stories she tells.
Bella Bigelow is in Maine to get married. At least that is the plan until she finds out that her fiancé is cheating on her. Bella has to figure out if she can marry a cheater in order to avoid disappointing her parents and to get the wealthy lifestyle she thought she wanted. Bella isn’t sure what she is going to do and her attraction to a local bartender isn’t helping her to decide.
Christian Jordan is no saint. He has a son with his brother’s ex-girlfriend and has vowed to not have a committed relationship. He enjoys one night stands with women who know the score and aren’t looking for more than just sex. When he finds himself attracted to Bella, he knows that he has to stay away, but finds himself getting drawn into her drama.
Christian and Bella are in very different places. She wants to settle down and have children. He can’t imagine a worse thought. He likes the single life. She comes from wealth. He grew up in a family that could barely make ends meet with a father in jail. On paper, they should never work and yet in reality, they have sparks that won’t be denied.
The chemistry between Christian and Bella sizzles off the page. We can feel it from the first moment that we see them together. Watching them figure out what to do with the chemistry makes for a sexy and wonderful story. Readers will not be disappointed by the outcome.

4 1/2 Stars!

We were introduced to Bella and Christian in the first book “The Hookup”. Bella left her groom (Bradley) at the altar after finding out he had been cheating on her ... with several women. Bella was from a rich family and appeared to be a “princess” but looks can be deceiving. Christian had a one-night stand with his twin brothers ex-girlfriend (Ali) ... only his brother (Cain) didn’t know his girlfriend was an EX-girlfriend and she became pregnant. And seeing how Christian’s brother became a raging alcoholic after he found out, Christian laid claim to the little boy because Ali didn’t want him and Christian wouldn’t let the little boy grow up feeling unloved.

When Bella decides to get revenge on her ex for cheating on her ... she wants revenge sex with Christian. So she asks Christian to pick her up at the church and take her away. They go to cabin in the woods and spent the next 2 days in bed. If I say anything more about what happens next, I will wreck the story for others.

Even though Christian was the bad guy in the first book, I couldn’t help but fall for him in this book. When he told his side of the story, I just felt sorry for him. And Bella was just a sweet, down-to-earth rich girl. Ms McCarthy sure knows how to portray her characters in the best light and even make the ones you hated in one book - love them in the next book. This book is just a great funny romance with hot sex scenes. I just love this series and highly recommend it. But read the first book first to get the whole background on this couple. There are more siblings in this family, so I sure hope there is going to be more books.

When reviewing a book I always try to keep in mind two things. First an author has put their time and heart into it so bashing is unnecessary. Secondly, just because I don't like something doesn't mean everyone will feel the same so try to point out the positives. Unfortunately with this book I'm having a hard time adhering to point two, that's how much I disliked it. Reading through the reviews though it appears others feel differently but for me I have to say there is nothing about this story that I liked. These characters annoyed me. Their behavior repulsed me. The overall story left me scratching my head and asking why. All I can say about this one is NO. Just NO!

Friends to lovers wonderful romance.

This is the 2nd book in Erin McCarthy's Jordan Brother's series. I loved book 1 but because I had read it, and this story covered the same time period there was some repetition even though this book focused on Bella and Christian, a couple with a very different dynamic than Sophie and Cain. That being said I enjoyed the book. I liked how both Bella and Christian grew as people. There was some fun banter, and I enjoyed coming along as they slowly fell in love and got their HEA. And the epilogue, wow, you're just gonna have to read the book to see how it all works out for these 2 great couples.

The Break Up is about Bella and what happens after she calls off her wedding because she finds out her fiancé is cheating on her. The premise of this novel sounded like such a quick, fun read, and for the most part it was.

I really enjoyed reading about Bella and how she grew throughout the novel. At the beginning she is willing to put up with pretty much anything from her fiancé, because she wants the happily ever after, but quickly realizes she deserves better. I like that she learned how to stand up for herself, know her worth, and what she deserves.

A critique I had of the novel is that some of the character's personality traits changed very quickly and out of nowhere. The quick change helped the story move along easily and quickly, but it didn't make much sense for the characters.

Initially this was a three star read for me, but then the end happened. The story went downhill. The ending was too rushed and didn't make sense with the rest of the story.

The Breakup by Erin McCarthy is the second book in the Jordan Brothers series this is Bella and Christian’s story. Although I didn't read the first book in this series I was able to jump right into this book. I did enjoy this book so I am planing planning to go back and read the first book.
So what happens when two completely different people, who are looking for anything but love, meet in the most unexpected and unusual way? Lots and lots of sparks and drama.
Bella is the quintessential good girl, who just wants to get married and have babies. She is sweet, the ultimate people pleaser, always putting everyone else first. She grew up in a wealthy family with a domineering father who treated her like a princess. But she definitely has some self esteem issues. She considers her self the dumb sister. She thinks she has found the perfect man, smart, rich, handsome, and her parents totally approve of him. Boy was she wrong, she discovers, one week before the wedding, that he is cheating with more than one woman…
In walk Christian Jordan, who is sex on a stick with a bad boy attitude to match, who gets just about any girl he goes after. He did not grow up with the proverbial silver spoon, in fact he grew up dirt poor with a father who is in prison. Christian is only interested in women that are totally unavailable and only looking for a good time. He has a no commitment motto. There were definitely some aspects about Christian that I didn’t care for, but you will have to judge for yourself. As the story progressed he did redeem himself with the love and devotion he showed toward his son and that did make me like his character more.
I enjoyed the unique way that Bella and Christian’s relationship developed, their chemistry was definitely off the chart HOT! I did appreciate the author's maturation of the two main characters throughout the book. Bella started off as a bit of a doormat, but in the end she grew a backbone and did some of her own stomping. Christian did some growing up as well, seeing Bella as more than just a rich princess. Overall this book was well written with some good surprises, which always makes a book more interesting . I did however feel that the ending was a bit rushed. I would have liked if the author had given us a little more about how Bella and Christian worked out their issues. Overall this was a fun, breezy summer read. ***I kindly received an ARC of this book by way of NetGalley/publisher/author. I was not contacted, asked or required to leave a review in order to read this book. I received no compensation, financial or otherwise. This is my honest review.***

Bella just found out that her fiance has been cheating on her and decides to get revenge. When she calls Christian, the bartender in the town, and asks him for a favor, the events of the weekend will change everything. Christian is a man who ruined his relationship, unbeknownst to him at the time, with his twin brother. Since then, he has taken care of his son and sworn off any real relationships. Plus, he isn't sure if he believes in love after seeing his parents' relationship.
When Christian picks Bella up at the church, as she is leaving her fiance at the altar, he takes her to a family cabin. As they get to know each other, they realize that there is something between them. Unfortunately, she doesn't know if she can trust her own judgement anymore and he doesn't believe in love or relationships (at least until he can't stop thinking about her). They don't really know each other and when secrets get revealed, the beginning could become the ending.
I really enjoyed this story. Both characters were believable and had valid reasons for having their guard up. The chemistry was undeniable. The relationship was sweet, if not frustrating, at times. A great second book in the series. Oh, and I will never think of a caboose the same way again.

The Breakup (The Jordan Brothers) by Erin McCarthy I'll admit I missed THE HOOKUP and will have to go back and read Cain and Sophie's story. Thank you to the publisher and #NetGalley for letting me preview this book. This is Bella(Sophie's sister) and Christian's(Cain's brother) story. I didn't like Christian at first but he won me over... such a good father to Camp...and so many hangups. Bella is the perfect "princess" but she has a cheater for a husband to be. This book has laughs, tears happy and sad, some tough subjects, steamy sex and of course a very HEA.

Netgalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

The Jordan family has a reputation in Camden, Maine. Five children and their father was a thief, career criminal and in jail most of their lives. Their mother supported the family by cleaning houses. While I did not read the first book, enough information was provided in this one, to get the reader "up to speed". Cain and Christian are twins. Both had crushed on Ali in high school, but she was Cain's girlfriend- until she told Christian that they had broken up. Their short hook up, resulted in a son, Camp. Ali wanted nothing to do with the baby and while the identity of the father can not be determined, Cain and his mother have custody.

Bella Bigelow is a beautiful, wealthy, sweet woman who has always dreamed of marriage and children. A week before her wedding, she finds out their her fiancee, Bradley, has been cheating on her. She wants to call off the wedding, but is talked out of it by her parents. However, when the time comes, with the help of her sister, who is dating Cain, she flees the wedding, calling on Christian to pick her up from the church. He owes her a favor, since she had bailed both the twins out of jail the previous week. Her takes her to the family cabin to give her time to think, but what she wants is Christian to teach her to be sexually satisfying, since Bradley had implies she wasn't. Christian teachers her more than that. Becasue of his parents situation, Christian doesn't do relationships, but he just might change his mind the more he gets to know Bella.

I very much enjoyed reading this book. The author cleverly weaves the intriguing characters into a provocative story line.

This is not a standalone. Please read the first book in the series. This story starts at a crucial point in the first book. To the get full understanding of the characters, I believe it is best to read the first book.

Christian and Bella’s story didn’t pack the same punch as The Hookup. The writing has the same easy flow but the two main characters just didn’t seem to wow me. It could be that I came into this with my own prejudices against them. When readers first get a glimpse at Bella in the book 1, she comes across as a spoil pretty princess. She is those things but as the story went along, I realized she is just genuinely nice. She is good. She has a great personality. Herein lies her faults. She is too nice. I am proud that she kicked her cheating fiancé to the curb but it took too long. I didn’t understand why she had to wait until the wedding. She knew from the start and he quickly tried to manipulate her into thinking it was her fault. Such a jerk!

I never fully warmed up to Christian. His first strike is that he slept with his twin’s girlfriend and impregnated her. The 2nd and most important strike is that his past reputation in the town as a jerk and ladies man never really changed. He never evolved in my eyes as a hero worthy of the heroine. Once he acknowledged to himself that he loved Bella, I wanted the switch to occur. The moment that would change his character. Nope! Never happened. I didn’t even like how he proposed.

I am super stoked that we get glimpses into Sophie’s life. She is still cool. I am happy for her and Cain. Speaking of Cain…I’m glad he wanted to work on his repairing his relationship with Christian. The conflict with Ali seemed like it got pushed aside towards the end and the romance element became rushed.

Overall, I’m still entertained by this series. This family is not your typical cookie cutter around the way folks and I love it. I want to read about the next Jordan sibling. There is still more drama in this small town to peruse.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Loveswept for providing this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is book two in the Jordan Brother’s series. I had read the first one so I was pretty happy to get my hands on this one. I was looking forward to Bella and Christian’s story. I was so happy to see Bella leave her jerk of a fiancé. She had me a little worried at first with her need to “do” the right thing or “act” a certain way and she was just kind of a snob. It was nice to see her stand up for herself and become independent. I think Christian redeemed himself to me as well because he wasn’t the nicest person in Sophie and Cain’s book. He was more of a down to earth, rescue the gir kind of guy.

This is a great summer read. It does get pretty graphic in the bedroom department so if you don’t like that then you may want to avoid this. I think the ending needs a little something as well. It felt rushed and went in a couple different directions, especially after Bella revealed her pregnancy.

All in all I hope there will be more of the Jordan Brothers series.

I remembered Bella and Christian from the first book in this series, so I am glad to be able to read their story. Christian is bar tending on the day of Bella's bachelorette party. This story picks up from that point. Bella has always wanted to get married and have children, but the day of her wedding does not go as planned.

She calls Christian to come and get her from the church, and he takes her to his family cabin. Feeling like she was inexperienced she wants Christian to teach her everything he knows about pleasure. They heat up the sheets, and even though Christian has said he would never get involved he can't help but fall for Bella.

I took away a star since the ending is sort of rushed, basically a page or two before the epilogue.
