I've never read anything by Samantha Young, to be perfectly honest, I requested this based on the cover and the brief description given by the publisher. To say that I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement. It was everything that I needed and everything that I love in a story. Initially, I was a bit put off by the description of the main character- she seemed typical, safe, uninvented. I mean, how typical is a blonde bombshell, but I was so so wrong. I loved her and felt guilty for not loving her from the get go. This made me feel things- I was like a giddy school girl and then my heart was broken the next minute. I loved every minute of it and I will force this on people if they don't believe me when I say how wonderful it is!

I was so thankful to get this book through NetGalley. Samantha Young is one of my favorite authors. She never fails with her capability with writing a great love story. I am now addicted to these characters and hoping Jamie gets his own book. This book captures you from the first page. The way Ava meets Caleb is so funny. He wacks her with his shoulder bag as he gets the last first class seat. It all begins with a love hate relationship that is filled with so much sexual chemistry.

Caleb Scott is a manly, tall, filled of tattoos, sexy, strong and smart.. Ava is a woman who tries to always be put together. That is the only thing in her life she has always had was her looks. Caleb despises her from first sight. I love how this story changed and their relationship formed.

Warning there is a physical altercation in this story for those who can't read about abuse. It doesn't go into detail , so I think you can still read this one.

I think I have to DNF this one at about 50 percent, and I’m extremely disappointed about it.

I’ve been on an adult romance contemporary kick for a while now, and this one seemed quite promising. The cover is adorable and the synopsis sounded so good. A hate to love trope is one of my favorites, so when I picked this up, I was hoping to get something similar to Sally Thorne’s The Hating Game, which is a fantastic example of the trope done right.

Reader, I did not.

Instead I got a book with what could have been a great meet cute, if a little antagonistic, that turned into full on rudeness on both the hero and heroine’s part, making it almost impossible to continue on liking either of them in any capacity.

The Bastard Scot, Caleb, is exactly that. He’s mean and rude and ungrateful and gives a really cliché reason to Ava for treating her so badly upon their first run in. It’s stupid and cringy and definitely had me rolling my eyes at his overly inflated ego. Ava is not much better. All she does is talk about the expensive lifestyle she lives, or what she’s wearing, or what high end client she’s working for, on and on and on for pages and it was honestly quite boring and added nothing to the plot.

They both also have a tragic backstory that acts as an excuse for treating each other like shit. The tragedies of the past that both characters endured (what I encountered by the half way mark—there could be more, idk) were understandably awful and heartbreaking and would definitely cause a person to experience grief. Realistically, people deal with their grief in a million different ways, but I just didn’t see why it had to be used as a catalyst for two people to be antagonistic toward each other.

They hate each other, but are also so overwhelmed with how attracted they are to each other physically that the only logical explanation is to sex each other up until they go their separate ways. The banter was okay at times, but for the most part was just too much poking at each other to believe that it was going to turn into a relationship of love and trust. I’m assuming they’ll get a happily ever after, to which I give a tip of the hat. They were both pretty unlikable to me, and deserve only each other.

I’m sure this will greatly appeal to some people; it already has over a four star average and the author’s other books seem to be popular, but for me this was a no go. I was so hoping the cover would usher in the cute story it appeared to be offering, but sadly I was let down with a pile of angst and rudeness.

*Thank you to Berkley Publishing Group and Netgalley for the free ARC in exchange for an honest review.*

I'm a fan of enemies to lovers and I did enjoy parts of this one but after sitting on this one a week and after reading some reviews though I see that key parts that were bothering me also seemed to bother other readers.

The back and forth hate between the two characters made me wonder how they could possibly still be attracted to each other. At least enough to sleep with each other and then keep doing it under the guise it was just sex. If I am attracted to someone and then they open their mouth and are rude it take their attraction level down several notches and I'm not sleeping with you no matter how good looking you may be. I know I can't be the only one out there.

The Scott is your typical alpha male and I guess I may just be over that because well he just irritated me most of the book. Sure he had his heart broken and something taken away from him but I found him to be a bit over the top a lot. And well the heroine just dealing with it because he's so hot just got on my nerves. I'm actually probably more intrigued by his brother and her best friend at this point.

I do enjoy this author's writing and will continue to read her but I think I will stick to her YA books as they seem to be her strong genre.

Review to be posted 10/2 on my blog, Goodreads, and instagram:

Date Finished: August 7, 2018

Publication Date: October 9, 2018

Publisher: Berkley

Format: e-book (Netgalley)

Disclaimer: I received a free e-copy of Fight or Flight from Netgalley and the publisher, Berkely. All opinions expressed below are my own.

Synopsis:
Fight or Flight is the newest novel by Samantha Young, although I learned she has a popular "On Dublin Street" series. In Fight or Flight, we first meet Ava as she is hangry and trying to catch a flight from Phoenix to Boston. She desperately needs food and a first class upgrade. Enter Caleb, the jerk who sneaks in front of her in line and steals the last first class seat. After lots of airport snafus, the couple end up in bed during a layover. Ava thinks its the perfect one night stand and that she won't see Caleb again But, as luck would have it, he enters her life in Boston as well. Will the two keep fighting or learn to love?

Review:
I'll admit it - I was annoyed for the first 10-15% of the book. Caleb was such a jerk and I really didn't want to like him as the love interest. I mean, he was really horrible during the first section of the book. I was able to push through it and (not really a spoiler) start to enjoy Caleb more as the book moved forward.

What I really enjoyed about Fight or Flight was learning more about each characters backgrounds - what made them the way they are. Why is Caleb so rude to Ava? Why does Ava have such big walls around her? Obviously, it is fun to read about wealthy and successful people living in a large city, but it is their backgrounds and friendships that make this novel something extra.

This novel was a compulsive read - I am crazy busy with a newborn, but managed to read it in just a few short days. It actually made me look forward to nighttime feedings so that I could sneak a few chapters in! This is my biggest piece of advice for new moms - invest in a kindle and read lots of romance at night! It definitely helps to have an awesome book to look forward to!

Berkley is putting out some amazing romances lately and I'm totally in! I rate Fight or Flight 4 stars. It is such a fun read and I highly recommend it for fans of romance - just be sure to give it a chance and don't quit when Caleb annoys you from the start!

Oh man, Samantha Young is at her best again with Fight or Flight. If you are into the hate to lovers trope, this needs to be at the top of your TBR because it's done to perfection.

Ava and Caleb's (aka the Bastard Scot) meet cute is anything but cute. He's a jerk and she's a bit high strung. Since this is told only from Ava's POV, we soon enough realize why she's acting a bit crazy and that is a really good person. She's got some self worth issues which I think gives her character a lot of depth considering the circumstances of how she grew up and history with past relationships.

Caleb is a man of mystery for most of the book. He is a total anti-hero for a while because he's not very nice. Yet, the reader can glimpse enough of him behind the mask he puts on to not totally hate him. Now don't get me wrong, he is NOT your Prince Charming guy we get a lot in romance novels. At his best, he is very flawed. But what I love about this story is how much these two characters make each other better, help each other work through their flaws and how each is able to see the world with a new perspective because of their love. And the super steamy sex scenes don't hurt either. Ha.

There's definitely some heat to the book as their relationship is essentially two people who hate each other but physically can't deny their attraction so they sleep together. Often. It never takes over the story and there's plenty of plot driven material to really keep you interested. I also thought a couple of the side characters were developed just enough to add a lot of depth to the story and I'm hoping (fingers crossed) that Ava's best friend gets a book. Possibly with Caleb's brother. And no, this is NOT a spoiler so keep your panties on.

Anyway, I breezed though this in one day. I'd consider it a low/moderate on the angst scale because has some humor but also deals with some serious subjects. I did shed a couple tears but I'm a leaky faucet when reading or watching Disney movies so take that for what it's worth.

Bottom line, if you want a contemporary romance that's easy to read and sexy, give this a whirl. Can't wait to see what Samantha does next!

DNF at 33%.

This book is miserable and I don’t see it getting any better, so I give up. My list of things I hated about this book grew with every page I turned, so here’s an abridged list:

•the characters are SO snobby, entitled, privileged, and every other word to describe those miserable cranky people you see snapping at people in airports.
•the writing style was a lot of telling instead of showing, and it wrote in a lot of asides, which I think just comes of as cheesy. Was definitely not a fan of this writing style and probably wouldn’t read another book from her.
•i respect guys with scottish accents, but you can tell it was thrown into this book just for the love interest to be more of a panty dropper. the author wrote a lot of his dialogue phonetically (“tae” instead of “to”) and had him say “aye” every other word, and it just took me out of the action and made it feel….. silly? (after looking at the author’s twitter, it’s clear she has a *thing* for scottish men)
•the guy is just….. gross. i get male characters can make mistakes and say gross things and grow from it, but he’s pushy and rude and entitled and calls the mc “babe” right after they meet and stares at her boobs and ass and talks about sex with her while they’re near strangers on an airplane and none of it was charming?? if a real man did this to me, i would be highly uncomfortable instead of being like ~ooh but his accent~ He was just so RUDE!! and the main character would notice it and be like “ugh he’s horrible……. but gorgeous” and i just checked out bc rudeness is not hot at all to me.
•this book was trying to be feminist, and every now and then it would have a good line, but mostly it was just kind of obnoxious. I’m not mad that it was trying to incorporate those messages, it was just so…. obvious. It came off so preachy and hypocritical. according to the main character, telling a woman what to do is bad, but pressuring her to have sex is okay. this book excuses all the love interest’s gross behavior because he was sOOoOoOooo AtTraCTiVe
•the dialogue was horrendous. if the characters hadn’t spoken a single word to each other during sex scenes it might have been bearable, but every other line i was screaming about the sarah j maas demonic energy of these characters making dumb jokes and using such outdated lingo at each other. real human adults do not speak the way that these characters do (ie. full grown professional adults calling something “freaking epic”). and if they did, i would not want to be around them or be friends with them. so, SO annoying. at one point the guy touches her bare thigh and she goes “oh boy!” like WHAT
•there’s nothing new or special about this book. the love interest is your generic tall, muscular, accented man who ~gets what he wants~. the female main character is fake edgy “snarky,” which really just means that her dialogue is unrealistic and corny and she’s impulsive.

Was not a fan of this whatsoever and would rather read something from Christina Lauren. If you don’t mind cheesy, typical romances, it might be more your cup of tea

If only I lived a life so full of coincidental run-ins with hot men!

Ava and Caleb meet in an airport, where none of us are our best selves, and after a few hangry encounters, agree they hate each other...and then promptly get seated next to each other on their flight. And then the next one too... But we all know how easily hatred can turn into some sizzling chemistry, and thank the lord that's what happens in this situation. It starts as just sex, then maybe a bit of friendship thrown in, and then...something more? Ava and Caleb were both just looking for fun, but pesky feelings always seem to get in the way in those arrangements.

I enjoyed Fight of Flight as a whole, but it took me a while to be a fan of Ava. When we started t0 break through her outer shell and understand her motivation it was easier to like her, but in the beginning, I have to say I agreed with Caleb that she might have had a little something stuck up her bum...All and all a fun read, for dare I say, a flight?

Honest to god, it's like this book was written just for me. I can never get enough of a brooding hero and an angsty, yet blissfully romantic, storyline and Samantha Young deliveres all of it with Fight or Flight. This story follows two strangers, a bastard Scott and an unfiltered American, who meet in an airport and instantly loathe one another. Their enemies to lovers dynamic eventually evolves into a friends with benefits arrangement of sorts and it tugs at the heart strings in that painfully pleasurable way I adore when emotions get conflicted, when feelings aren't reciprocated. It's addictive and heartbreaking and SO DAMN GOOD. Both deliciously angsty and achingly romantic, Fight or Flight is Samantha Young at her absolute best and I absolutely LOVED every single bit of this book!

Everything from the cover to these characters to this wholly unputdownable storyline is ROMANCE PERFECTION. This is one stellar package Samantha Young serves up here in this novel and I just flipping loved it. Caleb Scott is such a jerk and if you know me at all then you know that's my jam. He is rude and brash and some of the things he says squeezed my heart in a vice. He's a character that cuts deep but, truly, I find nothing more thrilling that watching a character like Caleb struggle with his emotions, soften under all that coldness. I'm absolutely crazy about an enemies to lovers romance, a story where you can't even fathom how two characters who detest one another so severely could ever fall in love... and this one takes the cake. These characters go to war over and over again on these pages and it hurts so damn good. It's brutal. It's sensual. It's gut wrenching. It's romantic. I loved it.

You don't need me to tell you what a phenomenal writer and storyteller Samantha Young is but I'll say it anyway. Wow. Wow. Wow is she just fantastic at ALL THE THINGS. The romance, the sexiness, the painfully sharp barbs and the most romantic declarations... it's all just so remarkable on these pages. This is one of those books that I wish I could read again for the first time just so to feel and swoon and ache and cry and shake and fall in love all over again. Every beautifully brutal piece of this unforgettable story is woven together so perfectly, the push and pull, the longing and the loss, the drama and the steam, the raw emotion and the sheer romance. It's brilliantly shaped and it delivers a relentless barrage of intense emotion to both the characters and the reader. This has been an unparalleled year for me as a reader and Fight or Flight is, without a doubt, another amazing love story to add to my list of favorites of the year.

Samantha Young's books are just entirely too hard for me to resist. She writes some of the best romance books and I will read her grocery list if she ever decided to publish it. You can imagine how staggering my expectations were when I went into Fight or Flight, not only because I adore her books, but it has a hate-to-love romance! Fight or Flight delivered so much more than I expected. I'm going to need all of you reading this book to definitely pick it up!

Ava and Caleb have a very sour first encounter at the Phoenix airport when Caleb rudely cuts in line and asks for a first-class seat that Ava desperately wanted after a hellish trip. They bicker, they fight, and somehow, they both end up stranded on a layover which leads to a steamy and satisfying encounter. As the universe would have it, they meet again in Boston, where they decide to carry on with a no-strings-attached relationship. Samantha Young left no stones unturned when it came to the backgrounds of both Ava and Caleb. I love how she took her time to develop these characters and make you understand where their personalities stemmed from. Ava was a character I adored and rooted for from the very start. She was feisty, confident, but also had some esteem issues because she has always been made to feel like just a pretty face. Her past had also left her with shaky trust issues. Regardless, she had made a life for herself and was successful, but it was obvious that she wasn't entirely happy. Caleb was such a grump. Add to that, he was also a bearded Scot. Take about HOT. The guy was definitely an alpha-male, and he tended to be very outspoken and callous. I wasn't sure of his character initially, but when it became apparent why he was that much of a curmudgeon, it was easy to understand his motives. As with most of Samantha Young's heroes, you do get to experience the softer, more romantic sides of his personality as the story progressed. I have no doubt that many readers will swoon for this guy and his hot accent.

Samantha Young is also remarkably talented at writing chemistry between her couples. Ava and Caleb might hate each other, but the tension and the gravitational pull they had on each other were sensual and so passionate. I could feel the heat through the pages of the books every time they had an encounter, even the non-sexual ones, and I could not get enough of it. The banter between them was an added bonus that made this book easy to devour. As I mentioned earlier, both Ava and Caleb had some serious trust issues, so they had obstacles to overcome throughout Fight or Flight. It wasn't always pretty, unfortunately. As you can imagine, their no-strings-attached relationship became complicated when they grew feelings for each other. There was angst here, but trust me, the journey to the happily ever after was more than fulfilling. Besides the romance, I also loved the friendship between Ava and Harper. It was genuinely one of the best parts of Fight or Flight for me. Theirs was a friendship that nothing could ever shatter. It made me happy to see such a positive female friendship written in a romance novel that was just as important as the love interest to the main character.

If you have yet to read a Samantha Young book, then definitely pick Fight or Flight and get ready to fall in love with this all-consuming, sexy and unforgettable novel!

I can’t remember the last time I wanted to hug punch a hero the way I wanted to hug punch Caleb Scott.

Honestly, I didn’t even know hug punching could ever be a thing thing until I found myself feeling the urge to deliver both things, simultaneously, while reading this book. Caleb Scott is infuriating, and also adorable. He’s exasperating, but also irresistible. I sometimes hated to love him. And yet, I loved him nonetheless.

There’s something about the chemistry between these two that sucked me into the maelstrom of this story and kept me desperate for more. Even when it hurt to read. Even when the urge to punch overwhelmed the urge to hug. This story was heavier than I anticipated. It was angsty and sometimes brutal. But it also set my heart aflutter and was nearly impossible for me to put down.

I adored – crazy adored – Ava. She’s smart and plucky. She’s damaged but indomitable. Her heart is so big, and her spirit so brave – she’s impossible not to love. I cannot say the same for her surly counterpart, although he definitely comes with his own set of charms. He’s alpha protective and possessive. He’s also a fair bit alpha-hole. But somehow, even though he was a smidge past the line between “mean enough” and “too mean” for me, I still loved him. These two together are dynamite – in more ways than one. This was not always an easy book to read, but their fiery hot chemistry and this compellingly dynamic storyline kept me on the hook.

I also adored Ava’s friendship with Harper. If there’s a true love story here, it belongs to them. I love the fierceness of their loyalty to each other. I loved how this female friendship showed two women holding each other up, and I loved how Ms. Young didn’t sugarcoat that the reality of that isn’t always pretty. There are some hefty punches doled out in this book. But the friendship illustrated here is simply beautiful. A soft, safe place against the whirlwind of the relationship between Ava and Caleb.

In all, well I keep saying it: I couldn’t put it down. I did love it for every emotion it pulled out of me (and that would be just about all of them). I was completely satisfied with their ending (though I might have liked a little more groveling, because…c’mon.). I was addicted to it, I loved it, and I definitely recommend!

I knew this book will be amazing from the first pages!I adored Caleb and Ava and I fall in love with the story.Fight or Flight has it all,an arrogant and sexy hero, a sassy heroine and an intense romance.

The concept was brilliant and Ava with Caleb gave the perfect note to this story.I loved their chemistry and the banter was amazing. They were full of tension and it was like an explosion. At the beginning I was frustrated with Caleb but once you know him better you'll fall in love with him!

Samantha Young makes so difficult to pick only one of her books as favorite because all her books are fantastic. This time she delivers a refreshing and sexy story.

Thanks to NetGalley, Berkley Publishing Group, and Samantha Young for the advance reading of Fight or Flight, for an honest review.

There’s a flight home to Boston. One upgrade to business seat left, Ava, a young, successful, beautiful woman, loses it to handsome businessman, Caleb Scott. Not too nice words are exchanged. Oh yes, instant hate-ons, but can anyone resist a gorgeous Jamiesque Highland accent? Um, no.

A crazy, sexy one night stand starts the universe throwing them together at every turn of the earth’s axis. The two agree to be friendefits. As their arrangement moves forward full force, they share a super-hot passion. Super. Hot. Lots. Then, one of them wants more. Love. Uh-oh.

The story building and characters grew on me. I loved Ava - beautiful, successful Ava with her dispirited past. Guarded hot Scot Business Bad Boy Caleb’s intensity. You know he’s hiding a hurt, but I found his character was just too hurtful for the intimacy they share.

Still, I really liked the book and I would highly recommend it.

Fight or Flight is an absolutely perfect title for this book. First, because of how Ava and Caleb met, and second, because just about every character in this book struggles with fight or flight for much of or at some point in the story.

I really enjoyed this book a lot, which I am more than happy about considering I’m not overly familiar with Samantha Young. It immediately hooked me from their first meeting, and I ate it up until about 40%, at which point it kind of snoozed a bit. The intensity that I had been enjoying just seemed to dull, but it did pick back up in a big way. And maybe that was the point – to lull me into a false sense of security so it would hurt more? If so, mission accomplished.

I couldn’t believe that I went from sort of dull interest to damn-near-tears, and how quickly. There was a lot of conflict in this book, and it all kind of culminates in this unexpected storm of emotions. I wouldn’t say that a lot of books bring out emotions in me, but this one did and I was totally caught off guard. Because it definitely didn’t strike me as a book that would, so my guard was down.

Overall, I think this book is really well done. It wasn’t a literary masterpiece or anything, but it’s not trying to be, and it’s really great for what it is. I loved Ava and Caleb more than I expected to, the story got to me more than I expected it to, and I think many will enjoy it.

P.S. As I currently write this review, I don't see anywhere that a second book or series are in order. I hope she decides to write another book about Jamie and Harper. Dear Samantha Young, did you get that?

4.5/5 stars

I am not really a fan of alpha males. However, this story was really good. It dealt with some really difficult subjects. But it was also sexy, funny and totally enjoyable!

Fight or Flight is a contemporary romance. The narrator of this book is Ava (30 years old). She works in Boston as a designer at Stella Larson Designs (an interior design company).

The book begins with Ava flying home from a funeral. At the airport she comes across a man named Caleb. I honestly really did not like Caleb at first. He was rude and arrogant. And these types of characters usually drive me crazy. But I guess he sort of grew on me.

In contrast I did love Ava right from the start. And her best friend was amazing. I also really enjoyed Ava's backstory. It was extremely interesting, especially everything about her parents and her friends Nick and Gemma. I also loved Ava's job and her boss.

This book was very sexy, yet not that sexy. There was a lot of romance. Yet there were also a lot of fade to black and less detailed scenes (which I actually prefer).

This book was much more substantial than I was expecting. But it was also fun and funny and extremely enjoyable. I really liked this book!

“The universe is conspiring against Ava Breevort…” It keeps placing her in the direct path of a gorgeous Scottish curmudgeon. From high stress moments at the airport, to an extended argument on their flights, to a one-night stand, followed by an almost immediate run in back home in Boston. There’s humor but also a whole lot of intense angst which made this title hard to put down. Two damaged souls need to figure out how to let down their snarky guard and let the other in. This one could potentially require a hanky.

I liked this book well enough, but felt a little betrayed by the summary I read beforehand. I thought it would be a little more light, It ended up being a little darker than I expected.

"Being underappreciated is like being a ghost. They know once upon a time you were there, that you made a mark, but they already topped caring before you even said good-bye."

"You win when you realize that anyone can hurt you, even those you never expect it from. Once you know that...you'll never be knocked off your feet long enough to lose."

"It hit me like a hammer to my chest. I loved him. His pain was my pain. I was in love with him."

Ahhhh!!! I loved it. I loved it. I loved it. This book was so incredibly good. So unexpected, a total gem of a read. This story is everything that you could want, need and ache for in an enemies to lovers romance.

When I first picked up this book, I just knew this was going to be a good read. I am sucker for the rude, frustratingly blunt hero and Caleb does not disappoint. Add in his sexy good looks and accent and he is trouble with a capital T! And Ava...she's got some baggage, but she's worked hard to get where she is and she dishes it out and can certainly take it. So, when these two strangers who can't stand each other are stuck on a plane together, the banter between them is just off the charts. The tension is so intense, so strong. You can feel it just oozing off the pages. You just know if these two got together that they would just be explosive. So from forced interactions and chance meetings, fate sure seems to be telling these two something. And while Caleb and Ava can't stand one another, that doesn't mean that they can't have sex right?! We all know this isn't going to end well. Soon enough, lines will be blurred and feelings will come into play. But, that doesn't stop me from hanging on to each word, living each moment and anticipating just how Caleb and Ava's story will play out....What I can tell you is to just sit back, relax and enjoy this crazy ride.....

Fight or Flight is brilliantly written and is a story that is just going to knock you off of your feet. It grabs you from the very first page and keeps you wanting more. From broken and frustrating characters to steamy hot sex and incredible angst, this book has it all. I loved the enemies to lovers story-line. I won't lie to you, Caleb is one of the most frustrating characters I have ever read. He was such a jerk and there was many times that I just wanted to grab him and shake him. But, there is so much more to him than meets the eye. If you're lucky enough to be around when his guard is down, he's actually a really nice guy. He's sweet and caring. He's protective and jealous. He can be a total alpha male. He's been hurt before and has his heart firmly locked up. And Ava....Her life has been anything but easy. The only people she calls family is her uncle and her BFF. She's smart, beautiful and talented. She's the kind of woman you'd be lucky to have in your corner. All the more reason that I found myself rooting for these two. They were perfect for one another whether they wanted to admit it or not.

Fight or Flight is so much more than a enemies to lovers romance. It is a story filled with heart, and frustration. A story of letting go of the past and fighting for the future. It's a story of finding love when you're not even looking for it. It's a story of friendship and second chances. It's a story that is at times heavy and filled with so much emotion. The angst so intense it feels as if it is your own. In fact, there was a moment, somewhere around the 85% mark, where my heart was just broken. Ava's hurt and pain felt as if it was my own. I didn't know how she could come back from it or how Caleb was going to redeem himself. But, it's moments like that, that I just ache for, that I just can't get enough of, that will have me glued to the pages right until the very end.

There is so much to love about Fight or Flight, I could seriously spend all day just gushing about it. I loved every moment of this story from beginning to end. There were so many wonderful characters that I grew to love, two in particular that I'm hoping we will see again. This story was truly special and just a total treat. My emotions are still a total mess and I couldn't be more happier about it. Fight or Flight is my new favorite by this author and I couldn't be more excited to see what lies ahead for us next.

Caleb is just a delightful man, "his eyes narrowed. “Do you always eat like you’re having an orgasm, or is the show just for me?” Ava knows just where to poke that bear, "...I reached up and ran my fingers over the prickle of thick stubble on his face and whispered, “Will it tickle my thighs?” Caleb’s eyes flashed and I swear I heard him growl, before he slapped a lot of cash down on the bar..." Caleb sometimes has a one track mind, "...his fingers disappearing under the hem of my shorts. “You’re being cute. So now I dinnae want tae watch the movie,” he whispered, the amusement giving away to heat." I loved this book, there was so much angst between Ava and Caleb. Caleb had his panties in a wad most of the book, but Ava wasn't deterred.

I had low intentions going into this book. The only other book I’ve read by this author was On Dublin Street and I really didn’t enjoy it. However, this one, I actually liked.

We meet Elise coming from a funeral in her hometown trying to get home to Chicago. While trying to get her flight upgraded she runs into very rude and arrogant scot, Caleb. These two have crazy chemistry but they can’t stand each other. They have a one night stand thinking that they wouldn’t see each other again. WRONG!

I hope you’re sitting down because I’m going shock you. The romance wasn’t my favorite part of this book. Honestly, it was my least favorite part.

I adored Ava! She was a pleasure to read about, she was feisty and strong. I loved reading about her overcoming her past and letting her hair down. She was loyal and wouldn’t let anyone disrespect her.

My other favorite part was the friendship between Ava and Harper. They had a friendship that could stand the test of time. I loved the friendship between then these two! You don’t get a friendship like theirs too often in a book.

Now I’m not going to say that I didn’t like Caleb, but he will never make my book boyfriend list. Some of his actions towards Ava I can’t believe or forgive. I don’t mind a character pushing someone away because their scared, but they way he did could have been so much better. I feel like the author was trying too much to make come off as a bad boy. He came off arrogant and I wanted to slap him something fierce.

This could have easily been a five star read for me if the romance was done differently. I’m hoping that maybe she does a book about Jaime. I’d be willing to read more about him!
