Irene Hannon writes suspenseful and engaging prose that is accessible for a wide range of readers. Characters take center stage in Hidden Peril and offer the reader interest. A recommended read from an author who is new to me.

This is the second book in Ms. Hannon’s Code of Honor series and features Kristin from the Treehouse Gang. It starts with the wedding of Colin (from book 1) where Kristin first meets Detective Luke Carter. A couple days later Kristin discovers her shop assistant dead, and Luke becomes the lead detective on the case. The police have no leads until another murder appears to have ties to the same shop. As the police begin to piece clues together it becomes apparent there is so much more at play that ever suspected and Kristin’s shop is in the middle of it all. They need Kristin’s help to find the evidence needed to get to the bottom of what has been happening. Once the FBI becomes involved in the investigation Luke and Kristin find themselves in the middle of it all. Attraction blooms between the two of them and while they agree to keep it professional while Luke is working the case their feelings are put to the test when danger ensues. They story keep me engaged wanting to know if the guilty party would be caught and if Luke and Kristin would be able to move forward in a relationship.

The character relationships stood out to me. I loved the strong friendship between Colin, Rick and Kristin. The guys were like big brothers to Kristin, looking out for her and making sure Luke knew they were watching him. But they also knew when to stand back and allow Kristin to choose who to let into her life. The brother-sister bond that Luke and his sister had was great, while her determination to set him up was entertaining it was obvious that her main goal was for him to be happy. I was delighted for Kristin with the growth that happened in her relationship with her parents.

I really enjoyed that the story focused a lot on the detective work required to solve a crime. Details were researched and discovered at a pace that felt realistic. This story did not disappoint and I can’t wait to read Rick’s story.

“Hidden Peril” by Irene Hannon was a great romantic suspense read. The suspense was woven throughout the book, along with some romance thrown in. This book was a little different than the other ones I’ve read by her. This one centered around a terrorist plot. There were some twists and turns along the way.

If you enjoy good, clean, romantic suspense novels, I highly recommend this to you.

I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest opinion.

An amazing romantic suspense. More suspense than romantic, but still highly entertaining. A Terrorist plot involving homemade candles from Syria? Very interesting and unique.

I had the villain figured out early on in the story and that took some of the tension out of it for me. But over all a great read. I recommend it to anyone who loves Romantic Suspense.

I love suspense novels. That excitement, tense action, the ability to go adventuring from the comforts of home...along with being able to take a breather every now and then, if needed...

I've read many of Irene Hannon's previous books, and so I jumped for the chance to review this one!

The first one in the series, Dangerous Illusions, was an excellent read. This one could work well as a stand alone, but if you read the first one, you will remember some of the characters.

At first, I'd tried to get in the story, and it just didn't grab me right away. But then...I really started getting into it...and I was somewhere close to the middle of this book when bedtime came. After tossing and turning for awhile, I knew I had to get up and finish reading this book!

Talk about action-packed, nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat suspense! Yes, it's exciting alright!

Kristin is the main character, and I enjoyed getting to know her a bit better. After seeing her friend Colin find love, it seems like it is now her turn for a romance. I loved to see how she and Detective Luke Carter got to know each other.

But the mystery of this book - seemingly unrelated deaths are connected, by nothing else than her store. Danger, terrorists, murder, and much, much more!

I did have some serious suspicions about the direction this story was going to take, and I was pretty sure I had parts of the mystery solved well before the end...but I greatly enjoyed reading this book, and I look forward to reading the next in this series!

Another edge of your seat read from Irene Hannon! Hidden Peril keeps true to Hannon’s great writing and will keep the reader turning the page.

It’s been twenty years since Kristin Dane took a vow with her friends to do what she could to make the world a better place and she is now making that happen with her fair trade shop. She has products from around the world and is able to bring attention to these areas and their needs by the products she sales. When people connected to her shop start dying, Kristin gets involved in the case. She begins working with Detective Luke Carter. He has just started working with the St. Louis PD and is pulled deep into the case hoping to find answers. Kristin and Luke work with the FBI in a case that spans the globe and is more complicated than any of them first believed. Together they work to stop this killer before more people die.

Hidden Peril is the second book in the Code of Honor series and I loved the way this story played out. The way the story spanned the globe and brought about history and awareness to events not commonly talked about made it all the more interesting. Irene Hannon is one of the best at romantic suspense. At times her stories can be a little heavy on romance but this one played out with extra suspense, which I really enjoyed. Some authors have a way with making certain characters especially evil and Irene Hannon is one of those authors, I felt the evil and let it roll with the story in the direction it was meant to go. Nothing seemed forced and the characters meshed well together. Kristin is the type of character that is easily relatable and you want to pull for and see her succeed. Luke and Kristin had an easy attraction to each other and the tension and danger they faced brought them closer together in a very natural way. I am not sure if there will be another in this series, but if there is, I will be first in line to read it. I recommend this book to fans of Hannon’s work and those that love reading romantic suspense.

Another intriguing story from Hannon. I was really impressed with both main characters in this one. Kristin's background with peace corp and then owning a business that supports a monastery was very impressive. I also really liked Luke.

The meet-cute in this book was really sweet. I love that she worked a sweet one in before the action started up. But of course, I also loved the non-stop action.

I'm also a big fan of books where guys and girls really can be just friends. I think it is an important distinction to be able to make. I love how the guys were always there for her - even when she found them a little annoying.

I'll admit this book didn't keep me guessing as much as I'd hoped it would. But I do read a lot of these types of books and have gotten pretty good at figuring out the bad guys and even how they work.

But honestly, for me, the romance was the highlight of this book. I really loved Luke and Kristin's relationship.

I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat. I will admit that I caught on to who Amir was pretty quickly in the story so I really wish that Irene had us guessing a little more. However, that did not ruin the story for me because this book kept me on the edge of my seat. It kept me on the edge of my seat because you really did not know how the story would unfold.

I loved the premise of this book, with the Art, Monks, ISIS, Syria, I thought it was well researched and thought out.

Irene really developed her characters in this book. The two main characters in the story Luke and Kristen had an automatic connection. I enjoyed that Luke was a professional however, still was holding on to the thought of them being together. And in the end, he risked his own life to protect her. I enjoyed Yusef and his son and the connection there. I was happy how their story unfolded. You could tell he had good in him and ultimately at the end, that is what saved him.

I also enjoyed that even though this would be considered in the Christian Suspense realm that I was not preachy and it just had wholesome prayers and talks with God. Sometimes I feel in this genre, the parts that talk about religion, God, and spirituality can be a little preachy and not flow well with the story. This one definitely did.

This one is definitely a quick and enjoyable read for anyone who loves suspenseful christian romance.

I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

I enjoyed this romantic suspense. Hannon gives readers a good balance of character development mixed with episodes of action.

I really appreciate the international aspect of the plot. Kristen operates a fair trade shop, helping support people in third world countries. Little does she know that some of her products contain hidden items used by a domestic terrorist cell to fund their operations.

The emphasis of the novel, however, seems to be romance. The periodic action does well to propel the romance along. The first, a murder in Kristen's shop, brings a handsome man into the story. Luke is an able St. Louis police detective but finds himself seriously attracted to Kristen. I like how Hannon gave Luke enough sense to temper his feelings toward Kristen until the case is closed. But the case is not closed until there is a good bit of page turning suspense at the end.

I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy a well plotted character driven romantic suspense.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

"Hidden Peril" is a Christian romantic suspense novel. It's the second book in a new series, but it's also a stand-alone novel.

The main characters were likable and acted in realistic ways. Kristin was admirable because she spent her life trying to help others and was willing to face danger to stop the bad people. I can understand why Luke was attracted to her, but first he had to overcome his feeling that he was betraying his dead wife. The suspense came from the danger to anyone involved with the smuggling scheme, whether they were aware of it or not. Multiple people were killed simply because they messed up or were no longer useful.

We mainly saw the character's Christian faith through how they treated people and what they cared about. There were no sex scenes or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable novel.

HIDDEN PERIL is the second book in this series but it easily stands alone. Fans will want to read the first book, Dangerous Illusions, to catch up on one of the other detectives.

Luke and Kristin won my heart from the beginning and I love the restitution that was made with extended members of their families as they came to grips with different aspects of love and commitment and the meaning of family.

The suspense started in the beginning at the monastery, and kept up through out the book. I would like to say that the "bad guy" was immediately known to me, but I would be lying if I did. Instead I was about 300 pages in when the lightbulb went off and I *knew* who it was. Things are not as they seem.

The faith message is weak and mainly consists of prayers over meals and an occasional other one. But the action and the suspense is great. The romance is great.

I enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the next book in this series (coming next fall).

I was given a copy free. All opinions are my own.

After the disappointment of Dangerous Illusions, Book 1 in the Code of Honor series, I am happy to say that Hannon's sky high suspense was back at the forefront (instead of the romance) in this book. The intensity grows from the beginning to the explosive ending. Hannon's plot is focused on terrorism and fits into today's current world situation perfectly. Her background research on this subject is obvious throughout the plot.

The characters were realistic and believable. It was great to see the Treehouse Gang from Dangerous Illusions front and ready once again. The interconnection between Rick, Colin, and Kristin is wonderful. Kristin is a strong, independent young woman who would make a wonderful friend with her caring ways especially her concern for people in developing nations. Luke Carter, the hero, was conscientious and warm hearted. His never give up attitude was what saved the day in the end. It was nice to see forgiveness, understanding and love develop between both Luke and his father and Kristin and her parents as both Luke and Kristin grew stronger in their faith.

Definitely my favorite of the two books in this series; and there is no indication, at this time, if there were be more books in this series.

Irene Hannon is one of the go-to author for me when it comes to writing suspense. I know she will have a solid story with plenty of research and high tension enough to grab and keep my attention. With her newest novel, Hidden Peril, the suspense seemed, to me, pretty watered down. It was another novel having to with a terrorist threat on American soil. For me, this type of suspense really doesn't capture my attention. I know the threat is real. I'm not that naive, but I honestly don't want to keep reading it over and over again in my suspense novels. The suspense didn't appear to be that important to Kristin's life until about eighty-five percent into the novel. The romance between Kristin Dane and Luke occurred from the moment the couple met and kept increasing its sparks as the story progressed along. The ending is predictable with, even so far as me knowing who was behind the attacks pretty early in the novel and Hannon proved me correct at the end of the novel. The romance ending was completely predictable too.

Overall, Hidden Peril by Irene Hannon started out with a unique twist but then morphed into a terrorist plot on American soil, losing my attention pretty quickly. I still believe fan so DiAnn Mills novels would enjoy this novel.

I received a complimentary copy of Hidden Peril by Irene Hannon, but the opinions stated are all my own.

I have only recently discovered Irene Hannon books and I am such a fan of her writing and story telling! Hidden Peril did not disappoint, the book was full of action and a great story line. The two main characters of Kristin and Luke were wonderful and very likeable. I also loved that some familiar characters from her "Heroes of Quantico" series were in this story. Overall a perfect read.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I am very happy to recommend this book.

Romantic suspense with a story-line that could have come right from the nightly news, Hidden Peril is an incredible read. The second book in this series by Irene Hannon it has a sweet romance, a strong faith in Gad and outstanding character development. Still, it is a stand-alone read.

The story moves quickly from a big city crime to international crime with Kristin Dane caught in the middle. Detective Luke Carter meets Kristin by chance but then as the detective on the case. It is a thriller from a master storyteller that kidnaps your attention and doesn’t release it until the conclusion.

I liked this book. I liked the tension between the characters. The story was excellent with the side about Kirsten parents fitting very well. I did guess the bad guy about half way through just because he showed up frequently but didn't have an seemly big role. #HiddenPeril #NetGalley

“A remote monastery in the Middle East.
Murders of innocent people.
Mysterious candles.
A dead terrorist.
How did they all connect?”

Hannon neatly ties these elements together while writing an engaging and thrilling pulse-pounding suspense. For me, she's one of those authors who I'll follow anywhere she leads! Her books are on my automatic “must-read-now” category. That being said, this second book in her Code of Honor series was a much anticipated read, one I've waited a long time to get my hands on! She never disappoints and once I had this in hand, I settled in for the long haul. So reader be warned, you don't want to put this down once you start!

If you've ever watched “The Monuments Men”, you'll enjoy the nod towards the movie and their quest to preserve priceless art masterpieces from under the nose of the Nazis. In the books case, artifacts are being stolen and used for a much more sinister plot! Think ISIS, now isn't that beyond scary? Kristin Dane is an innocent pawn in a terrorists scheme. Luke Carter along with his team must protect her as they try to catch the illusive men behind the plot. I had high blood pressure as I watched things unfolding and dizzy with all the twists & turns Hannon takes her readers on. The breath-stealing ending had my heart in my throat; what a way to wrap up another hair-raising suspense by one of the best authors out there. Whew, I still feel a bit discombobulated from the roller coaster of a ride! It may take a while to get my landlubbers feet under me; that tells me Hannon did her job as a writer. Talking about breath-stealing, the romance brewing between Kristin and Luke sizzles under the surface. You can physically feel the electricity between these two. Though for Luke, he's the perfect gentleman playing it cool since much more is at stake than his heart. I think it was a great balance of suspense and romance, another thing I love about Hannon's writing. She consistently delivers on all elements without overriding any of them. Lastly, character growth and spiritual theme are evident throughout. Both Kristin & Luke have family issues in their past they must overcome, and forgiveness plays a huge part in all of it. To sum it up: with gripping suspense, stirring inspirational moments, a frantic race to squash a sinister plot, and affairs of the heart, Hannon once again delivers. Don't miss this exciting addition to a fantastic series!

Hidden Peril is book two from Irene Hannon's Code of Honor series. I liked this book. It was suspense filled, leaving me guessing "who done it". That kept me going and not wanting to put it down.
I am giving Hidden Peril four and a half stars. I can not wait to find out what will happen next in the Code of Honor series. This is a great read and I recommend it for those who love a clean suspense.

I never miss an Irene Hannon book. She is a very good suspense author with spiritual themes. This latest book is number two in her Code of Honor series and delves into terrorist activity and how they fund their missions.

Her writing, as always, is impeccable, and her plots spot on in today's world. Her characters are always very well developed. I especially enjoy how she layers her suspense right up until the end, guaranteeing her readers excitement in her books. Recommended.

Hidden Peril is the second book in Irene Hannon's Code of Honor series. Her meticulous research ferreted out from law enforcement officers gives her stories a ring of truth. This book confronts the realities of terror cells among us in this day and time. Kristin Dane is helping the world in her small corner of it. Following a stint in the Peace Corp, and some time to learn how to successfully run a business, she opened WorldCraft, a store that sells fair trade items and fosters community economic development in third world communities. Little did she know that her business was unintentionally helping to fund terror cells much closer to home. Detective Luke Carter was still grieving three years after the death of his wife. He struggled with the idea of “replacing” her, but his sister and his growing feelings for Kristin helped him to realize that our hearts have a limitless supply of love and that we can love additional people without replacing the ones we have loved before. Now that he was willing to risk his heart again, he must see to the safety of his new love.

Irene Hannon is a skilled writer of romantic suspense. The romance features of her stories play well against the suspense without detracting from it. Her suspense stories always keep their promise of being an edge of your seat, page turning, wild ride read. My advise is to give up on getting anything else accomplished once you pick one up. I thank NetGalley and Revell Publishing for providing me with a copy of Hidden Peril in exchange for my honest opinion. I was under no obligation to provide a positive review and received no monetary compensation.
