I didn't expect A Secret to Die For to have the storyline it did...I was surprised by what was really going on!

I found the characters to be very nice. They had difficulties in their lives and things they had to work through which made them feel real. The romance was nice in the fact that they weren't strangers and knew each other in the past.

The story was written very well and I enjoyed the suspense aspect. When you find out what is really going on, I think you'll find it to be not what you expected.

All in all, A Secrets to Die For was really good and I recommend it to fans of romantic suspense.

This is another excellent, exciting suspense novel by Lisa Harris.
Grace Callahan has no idea why someone thinks she holds the key to something important. And then she discovers that her client has already been murdered because of this.
This book is a page turner from the very beginning. The suspense is breath-taking, and very intriguing.
I was hooked from the beginning to the very end.

Another fast-paced thrilling journey from Lisa Harris! The action and suspense start from page one and don’t stop until the very end of the book. Whew! The numerous twists and turns in the plot definitely had me guessing constantly who the bad guy may be...

The book is well-written with an intriguing plot and premise, the style of writing is fluid and easy to read, the suspense is intense, and the characters are delightful.

Grace and Nate were friends back in college who have lost touch for the last decade or so. Both have emotional and psychological trauma from their pasts and have struggles trying to overcome fear, guilt, and hopelessness. Grace is a deeply feeling, vulnerable yet resourceful and brave psychologist who gets sucked into Nate’s world when one of her clients becomes a murder victim. Nate is a homicide detective, freshly released for return to duty after a bombing that killed his partner and colleagues. Nate is thorough, meticulous, protective, loyal, and tender-hearted yet tries to wall up his heart. When the two reconnect because of a homicide case, they become involved in trying to stop a nefarious scheme much bigger than they had thought but also in laying down their past fears and anxieties.

If you love romantic suspense, this book is for you. You won’t be able to put it down!

I loved this book. Grace is a intelligent and strong character. Nate struggles with his faith but came out in the end. I loved the action and plot twists. I thought I had it figured out until the end. I definitely enjoyed this book and will be reading it again.
Thank you Netgalley and publisher for letting me read this book.

Gracie and Nate are old friends that reconnect when Nate is assigned to a case that she is a part of. I liked seeing their friendship grow and how Nate wanted to protect her , but also not get too close to her. It really keeps you guessing what is going to happen and if they will come to the right conclusion on time. There are some twists to the story that make it a good read.

The book opens with a scene to get your heart pumping. You immediately know Grace has a past and the author starts sharing it piece by piece. Your heart breaks for her. She is a psychologist dealing with her own issues before she is thrown into a crazy murder mystery. One of her clients is murdered and they think she has the key.

Nate has just returned to duty after dealing with his own trauma. They had been great friends in college and he instinctively wants to protect her. It was a balance of them slipping into their past and understanding each of them were so difference after 10 years of life happening to them.

The plot line was fascinating and scary. You wonder if this can really happen. They are chasing hacker terrorists that want to take out the power grid. And just as often the hacker terrorists were chasing them.

A Secret to Die For is a great balance of heart warming romance and plot twists that will keep you guessing until the end. It will also make you think; what would you do if there was no power.

I recommend A Secret to Die For if you enjoy action packed thrillers that hit too close to home.

Lisa Harris is always a great choice. Her newest release, A Secret to Die For, is fast paced, gripping, and will keep you on the edge of your seat. Good look putting this book down! Just as soon as you think you’ve got it figured out, Harris throws another curve ball. This book is, first and foremost, a suspense novel, but weaves in romance in a way that is realistic and not too overwhelming. The two main characters come together in an unsuspecting way that I found refreshing. It was a nice change from the typical a+b=c method of throwing two people into a crisis and having them fall in love. This had so much more depth. Harris does a remarkable job of addressing hard topics like PTSD and divorce. This is definitely a book I’d feel comfortable recommending to both my avid romantic suspense friends, and those who aren’t so sure.

How is the death of a man and a break-in connected? They both involve Psychologist Grace Callahan. Her patient, Stephen Shaw, was the man that was found shot in the head and her house is the one that was broken into by someone who thought Stephen gave her something.

Homicide detective Nate Quinn has just been cleared to return to duty after being injured in a bombing. He is assigned the case of the death of Stephen Shaw and soon connects it to Grace, who he knew back in college.

They race to figure out the mystery of the murder of Stephen, what he could have left her and was there a truth behind his paranoia, while trying to stay alive. They are also both trying to cope with losses in their lives and trying to deal with their feeling for each other. Can they manage to stay alive long enough to find the person behind this? Can they both manage to come to terms with loss to move forward in their lives?

This is a suspenseful read that doesn't give up until the end.

Psychologist Grace Callahan thinks Stephen Shaw is a paranoid when he explains that people are after him. That is until he’s murdered. Now they are after her because they think Stephen gave her something they want and are willing to go to any lengths to get it. Detective Nate Quinn suffers from PTSD after a bombing that left him the only survivor. He has just returned to active duty and is assigned investigate the murder of Stephen Shaw. Turns out the only lead is Grace Callahan, an old friend of his. Now it’s a game of keeping Grace safe while they trying to figure out who’s behind Stephen’s murder and what he left for Grace that is important enough to kill for.

This story was fast-paced right from the very first page. It keeps you guessing about who is behind the murder until close to the end, which I really enjoy. I didn’t particularly fall in love with Grace or Nate. They both had been handed difficult things to deal with and Grace was a good example for Nate. I just didn’t really feel a strong connection between them. I felt this was more of a suspense than romantic suspense. I would say it had a touch of romance. Overall it was a good book that holds your interest until the end.

I love books that are filled with intrigue and subtle clues throughout the book to solve the mystery. The author has done just that in this action packed book.

Grace is a psychologist that meets lots of different people. I always wonder if the psychologist is ever afraid of their patient. With great descriptions and an adrenaline rush this story had me on the edge of my seat. When Grace has a patient with a deep secret, what happens when that secret becomes dangerous? Can Grace outsmart who is after her?

Nathan is a welcome addition to the story and adds adventure to the story. Grace and Nathan team up to keep one step ahead of the suspect and keep both of them alive. What secret does she know that someone would kill for? I'm glad the author made Grace a strong and smart character. She is not one to give up and her determination is off the wall.

They both have something in common which brings them closer together. I think that with them both dealing with trauma it will help them keep each other safe . Grace draws on her faith and that keeps her grounded. The danger these two are put in is non stop and the race is on to see who survives. The book is well written and the mystery is so good I couldn't stop reading.

I received an advanced copy of this book from Librarything Early readers program. The review is my own opinion.

This one's fast-paced for sure! It kept me on the edge of my seat and wondering what would happen to Grace while the bad guys were trying to get what they think she has. I wasn't feeling great the day I read it, so I probably need to reread it to recall some details, but it kept my attention on a day with a bad headache and helped pass the afternoon.

Anyway, so it turns out that Grace may have run across some folks who want to take down the power grid. I enjoy running across suspense books that have diverse crimes, and this one was definitely a unique motivation. The romance did move fast, but as the two had known each other in the past I didn't find it hard to believe.

I definitely enjoyed all the faith content. It's worked in organically and is part of the characterization rather than being preachy.

Thanks the publisher for a free copy. A favorable review was not required.

A Secret to Die For
By Lisa Harris

Grace Callahan knows that this is going to be a rough week-it's the anniversary of the day that changed her whole world. She just had no idea just how much rougher it was about to get. When her name brings the police to her door she is shocked that the client she had seen hours ago is now dead. Stephen Shaw seemed paranoid but it went with the job in Grace's opinion, now she's having to rethink that assessment because someone things that she was left with something that they want. The only problem Grace has absolutely no idea what they are referring to.

The last thing Detective Nate Quinn wants to deal with after a 3-month absence is having to deal with a murder on his first day back. And when they find a link to the victim and Grace Callahan, a name from Nate's college days, he and his partner are sent to interview Grace.

A break-in at Grace's home and office soon has everyone on high alert and a cryptic message on her phone from Stephen just adds to the tension. And when evidence begins pointing in a possible cyberattack that could bring the country to a standstill they find themselves in a race not only against time but whoever had Stephen murdered.

A Secret to Die For appears to be a standalone novel which means there is no backstory that you have to be concerned about missing out on. The book opens on the action drawing the reader in with the first line, "A sharp clatter jerked Grace Callahan out of the...". I mean seriously doesn't that just grab you? What was that clatter? And what was Grace jerked away from?

Several issues are dealt with in this story including loss of a child, divorce, and PTSD. These issues play an integral roll in how the various characters react to the events that unfold. As this book is classified as Romantic Suspense you know that there will be a dash of romance thrown in with a heavy dose of suspense. For some, the romance may seem a little cliche but this is a book with limited pages within which everything has to unfold. Fans of Lisa Harris will enjoy this newest work and for those who have not yet read her, this is a good choice for trying her out.

We’ve come to expect excellence from Lisa Harris in her Christian suspense novels, and this one is certainly one of her best. The intense storyline could come from today’s headlines, and I never lost interest at any point in the story. The characters of Grace and Nate are compelling. They have both suffered tragedy and personal loss. As they face danger to come stop a plot that could cripple the country, they find they can turn to each other for support. I especially liked the faith aspect of this book. Both have struggled with their faith through their loss, and Grace has much to teach Nate about returning to his faith. I very much enjoyed this book.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Psychologist Grace Callahan has been through a lot. But despite everything she still tries to help others. When one of her patients is murdered, she finds her own life in danger as well, because the murderer believes that her patient told her his secret before his death.

Detective Nate Quinn responds to the break in at Grace's house on his first day back on duty after a bombing where he lost his partner. He struggles with survivor's guilt, and he hopes that getting back on the job will distract him, but all of the clues lead him to Grace.

A heart-stoppingly suspenseful read with danger at every turn. Grace is clever and quick on her feet, and Nate is dedicated to protecting her. Grace and Nate must find out what her client was working on so that they can stop the killer before he finds her.

Grace is smart and determined, she doesn't let her past keep her from doing whatever she can to help with the investigation. She is honest with herself, and has a compassionate heart. She shares her faith and how it helped her overcome her grief.

This is a fast-paced read with a lot happening over a short span of time and several surprises. Nate has a strong sense of duty, and struggles with feelings of failure, he doesn't want to let Grace down. Pulse pounding suspense, action packed, yet very well rounded characters. Definitely a must read for the romantic suspense reader!

A Secret to Die For by Lisa Harris is an amazing novel of romantic suspense. Pyschologist Grace Callahan is suddenly thrust into a police investigation when one of her client's ends up murdered and the murderer is suddenly coming after her as well. Nate is the investigator assigned to the case. He's an old friend of Grace's ex-husband. Both Grace and Nate carry baggage from hurts in their past, and a murderer is out to get them. Can they survive? Can they find a new life together? Lisa Harris is a talented writer of suspense. This novel does not disappoint and it will keep you up reading late into the night if you start reading it too late. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

I have come to expect fast paced, suspenseful novels from Lisa Harris. So, it was no surprise that this book started off with with a tense, heart pounding scene! This book definitely has a different feel than the previous series I have read, The Niki Boyd Files, but still delivers gripping, action packed scenes. Grace and Nate were likable characters who were dealing with some serious issues from their pasts, while working to put together pieces of a puzzle and prevent disaster from striking. There were plenty of suspenseful moments, however I did feel that at certain times it was a little repetitive. I don’t want to give away spoilers, but the characters seem to find themselves in peril at every turn, and I began to question why they weren’t more cautious, or didn’t learn from previous experiences. I love suspense, the thrill of the hunt, looking for a murderer, but this book took a strange twist and seemed to turn into an apocalyptic techno-thriller. I just didn’t expect it, and am not the biggest fan of the doomsday type plot. However, that is a personal preference. My hubby absolutely loves these kinds of books. He eats them up! Even though this wasn’t my favorite plot, this book was action packed until the last pages with some twists and turns that will keep the reader guessing until the conclusion. Definitely give it a try if you are looking for a thriller that is fast paced!

Intriguing and fast-paced. I enjoyed this novel by Lisa Harris and it kept my attention to the end. I liked the characters and the emotions, but I gave this one four stars because the main plot is too unbelievable. I don’t want to give any spoilers so I won’t give specifics, but it just seems too far-fetched. But for Christian Romantic Suspense, it was a just right read.

Psychologist Grace Callahan suspected her client Stephen Shaw might be suffering from paranoia … but she reconsiders after a masked man breaks into her house looking for the key Shaw supposedly gave her.

It’s Detective Nathaniel Quinn’s first day back on the job when he’s assigned a suicide case that turns out to be murder. The victim is Stephen Shaw, and Grace’s business card is in Shaw’s pocket. It turns out that Nate used to be friends with Grace and her ex-husband.

Shaw worked in computer security and was also contracted to the FBI … or was he? A cryptic telephone message leads Grace and Nate on a chase to find the killer before the killer finds her.

A Secret to Die for is Christian romantic suspense at its best. The suspense starts on page one and doesn’t let up, while the the romantic thread takes a little longer to get going (which is appropriate. I’m always suspect of the relationships that begin in a high-stress situation, because I’m not convinced they’ll last). The Christian element is an underlying theme that gets more and more pronounced as the story progresses.

Overall, A Secret to Die for is another great romantic suspense novel from Lisa Harris. Recommended for fans of Irene Hannon and Diann Mills.

As an aside, I’m seeing a lot of suspense titles with these pink/purple covers with white text, and I love the effect!

Lisa Harris is one of my go to authors. She has written another attention holding title for the suspense audience.

Psychologist Grace Callahan’s home was being broken into. She managed to escape after getting shot at a couple of times. She got off easy. Later that morning she would find that one of her counseling clients had been murdered the previous evening. And that was just the start of the week’s excitement.

Terrorist were determined to take down the electrical grid across the US - much as had occurred in the Northeastern United States in 2003, except then it was a software glitch, not terrorist. Grace’s client had been hired to find and patch holes in the software controlling the grid - except those who hired him were the terrorists and they were trying to prevent the utility infrastructure from installing a patch that would prevent their taking down the utilities. And would do just that in a matter of hours.

Detective Nathaniel (Nate) Quinn had drawn the (un)lucky straw to follow the death of Steven Shaw, Grace Callahan’s client. Nate had two strikes against him. First, it was his first day on the job after a three month break after his previous team and partner had been killed in an explosion related to a previous case. He was left with a case of PTSD that was not yet completely addressed. The second strike was that he had gone to college with Grace Callahan - she had married his best friend. That marriage had broken up shortly after their daughter had died from Leukemia. Now, neither Nate nor Grace were sure they were ready for a serious relationship - especially in the midst of a crisis that might effect the entire country.

The plot is well developed and believable - involving multiple policing agencies. kidnappings, automobile accidents, murders, and robberies, leaving a trail of breadcrumbs that the detective and his colleagues would need to follow in order to protect their key witness and their country.

The story is told well - with a single exception. The climax is weak. This reader felt as if the solution to the story popped out of nowhere. It came not of result of good police work, but because of the totally disconnected piece of evidence was dropped into the detective’s lap.

Despite the small disappointment, the book was a heart stopper. It allows the reader to examine the impact loss of various kinds can have on people. It also delves into the significant role faith can have on individuals as the deal with that loss. Lee Harris has done a great job of examining those questions as Nate and Grace reflect on the various losses that have been a part of their individual lives.

Fans of Lee Harris’ work, of Christian suspense, and of techno-thrillers will find the reading rewarding.
