'Sister BFFs' by Philippa Rice is a book of comics about sibling sisters who constantly bicker about things.

Two sisters who are grown but still living at home fight each other about everything from who cleans to exes to how much money you'd kiss Tom Jones for. There are job searches and funny text exchanges. There are comments about body odors and how they dress.

It's all pretty funny. It feels like it is taken from real life. I've liked the author/artists other collections and this was different, but still funny.

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

There were a couple of pages in this that are so pitch-perfect. I recognized my sister and myself in them, and that was fun and cute. I like Rice anyway. Super looking forward to Baby: A Soppy Story, which just came out!

I really enjoyed it, I have loved Philippa Rice previous work (Soppy) and this story was cute. You can definetely relate up to some point if you have a sister, there were some parts that were really funny. Overall a pretty good and quick read.

Cute and funny. Limited adult appeal so I won't be purchasing but well done and most likely a winner with older teens and early 20s.

This was a really fun comic volume. If you like these types of fun slice of life funny more than narrative comics you’ll like this, especially if you have a sister.

Being sisters who are also roommates is a strange place to be, I can tell you from experience. Sisters, more than friends, can be very close and bitter enemies at the same time. This book shows how adult siblings can act much like they did as children. Charming.

This is a very cute collection of comics. It's instantly relatable, and the comics make me wish I had a sister. The drawing style is friendly and doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Thank you, NetGalley for the preview of this graphic novel.

Sister BFFs is about two sisters who are trying to get the adulting thing right. Every sisters' relationship with each other is unique in its own way and I am sure that the author and her sister has a wonderful and amusing. But it did not translate well to me.

Not sure what I was expecting when I picked this up, but it was not this. I wanted to love this graphic novel depicting sisterhood, but it did not ring true with me. I have three sisters and we confide, advise and joke with one another, but not in this way. It seemed they were a bit selfish, and argumentative. They did not even act like young adults in my thinking. Perhaps I am too old for this type of humour, but it was not my cup of tea. I guess as another reviewer said, humour is subjective.

"Sister BFFs follows a pair of sisters who are not quite adults but trying desperately to act like them. From job searches to embarrassing encounters with former crushes, these twenty-something sisters navigate the ups, downs, and in-betweens of early adulthood – together…”

This was a cute, short collection of comics based on the author’s real life. I have a little brother, so I usually love reading about awesome sibling dynamics. Unfortunately, this was advertised as “sweet” and “witty” and I didn’t really feel either of those words accurately describe this collection. The sisters argued too much; they were downright mean to each other for no reason. Unwarranted picking, bugging, rude retorts. It just didn’t sit well with me. I like reading about siblings who love each other and have an incredible bond, like my brother and me. And yes, obviously we fight sometimes, but that’s not my kind of humour. I don’t like fighting. It just didn’t charm me like I thought it would be going into it.
The plot didn’t have a direction – it just felt like a peek into some the lives of some rude people. These characters were supposed to be adults, but I know 5-year-olds who are more mature than them. Juvenile and childish are the best words to describe these characters. I detested them, to be quite honest.
Some people may love this, they may connect to the sibling rivalry and rudeness, but it just wasn’t for me. I don’t know if there was anything outright wrong with it, but I didn’t like it.

You know how, when you're hanging out with someone you really love, like a best friend, sister, spouse, etc, and something happens and you both laugh so hard you pee a little? Or you're having a text conversation and it's just so witty and snappy, you're convinced you need your own reality show?

But then you try to tell other people about this hilarity, and they just kind of smile bemusedly and say, "Must've had to be there"?

This book is one, long, "You had to be there."

I don't doubt these sisters have a great relationship, and that they amuse the hell out of each other. But it does. not. translate. These stories are not funny, or amusing, or interesting. They're just there.

Maybe it was because I didn’t have sisters that this book was not for me. My sibling is a brother and we did not have the type of relationship that is seen in this book. Yes it’s a loving relationship, but it's also a bit destructive and counter productive. Saying that I see the Aunts and my mom very well reflected in the story line. And while I find it okay, it’s just really not for me.

The title tells you all you need to know, and the cover informs as to how basic the artwork is.
My fave line: “You monstrosity!” Other highlights:
There’s a panel that is unintentionally funny to everyone outside Britain, or I guess the Commonwealth: Whoever could have thought it would be a good idea to have separate spigots in a sink for the hot and cold water?
They make up by watching cat memes.
“You’ve a stubborn face, but I’ve done my best.”
“Instead of losing a ball, you gain a ball.”
Some of the text conversations are funny, others go too long.
“Just a normal braid, yeah?” “Obviously.” Uh, no. . .
They do love to body-slam each other. They’re worse than big brothers, and that includes fart stuff. And poo stuff.
It’s actually my job to wear and review pajamas. I’m at work.”
“Why do my hands smell like vegan people?”
I can do without the sound effects that describe exactly what I’m looking at, like “shuffle.”
Back to the artwork. The hands and feet are incredibly tiny compared to the rest of the body, making for proportions that look strange. They both have permanent duck lips. There are times when too much is stuffed into a bubble, making it incredibly hard to read.
All in all, funny enough for a gander. Makes me glad I never had a sister. . .

I'm a fan of Philippa Rice and I consider my sister to be my best friend, so naturally, I was pretty excited to read this!

Sadly, however, I couldn't relate. To any of it.

Though it was kind of cute and had her signature style, I just couldn't fully get into it. I feel like maybe this would be more relatable to a younger audience? A large portion of the book is the sisters commenting on how badly the other smell and other childlike insults. Of course, me and my sister fight and argue obnoxiously but I don't think we've ever really jabbed in that nature. I don't know. It was a lot of weird bickering.

Thank you Andrews McMeel Publishing for the copy in exchange for an honest review.

It was a decent graphic novel exploring sister relationship. To be honest with you, I cannot relate to this because I'm an only child. I don't know how it feels like to have a sibling who I can bicker or confide with. The closest sister I have is my mom. Personality wise, I'm the polar opposite of these sisters. They're adults but I find them immature for their age. The plot lacked of direction and the humor doesn't make any sense. It isn't funny at all.

This book tells several stories of the lives of two sisters.

Art wise, I was intrigued at first but never really got into it.

Story wise, it's just a bunch of stories with attempts at comedy. They didn't work for me, it felt as though this book was trying to do 'relatable comedy', something that I don't find funny.

All in all, I didn't like this book. I really wanted to, however, I wasn't capable.

Sadly, I couldn't read this book, because the e-book was damaged or something like that. It was blank, I tried multiple times to download it and read, but it did not work.
Anyway, I gave it 5 stars because the cover of the book is so beautifully done that I can only imagine that the illustrations and the story is equally beautiful.
If you could send me the book, I would be really happy to read it and review it.

As an older sister, I loved this book. It reminded me of all the times I've shared with my own sister and perfectly reflects the inimitable bond between sisters.

A third through this, I wanted to ditch this so bad. Having 3 sisters, I thought this would be a great read. However reading two twenty-something sisters behaving like 9 year olds are very off-putting. It did get slightly better after that (sliiiiightly).
