Landon Cox is the drummer for the world famous rock band Nothing but Trouble; ironically that’s probably what most people who knew him would describe him. There are really on two good things that happened to Landon in his life; one of them being Piper Hastings. At the start of something really good between he and Piper, Landon’s offered the opportunity of a life time and it requires leaving Piper behind. The decision has haunted him for the past six years but the twists and turns of life and put Piper front and center in his life again and he’s determined to get her back and this time keep her.
The plot is very typical for this book. Down on his luck kid turns legendary Rock Star tries to win back the girl from his past; but there was something about this book that made it unlike any other. Actually, there were a lot of somethings about this book that made it different. There were some real curveballs thrown in this book, so many that it’s kind of hard to give my opinion without ruining some of them so I’ll give the brief skinny on why I liked this book.
Landon AND Piper; it’s rare I actually like both characters, but I did. Landon has that typical rockstar persona but he’s really a sweet guy. While he may not necessarily wear his heart on his sleeve, when it comes to Piper, that’s pretty much where it is.
My favorite Landon quote:
“I grinned against her mouth. My kitten was coming out to play. Our tongues tangled, fighting for power. She tasted so damn good. Slipping a leg between her thighs, I loosened my hold to slide my fingers down the curve of her spine as she ground against me. “Pippa.” This time she didn’t object to the nickname I groaned against her lips. It was a plea. For this girl, only for this girl, I would beg.”
Sigh and swoon, because Piper was really it for him. Landon has some other family issues that really make you just want to give the dang guy a hug, but again it would be a total spoiler if I even went a little bit into it.
Piper, now Piper was a little bit of a mystery. The thing about Piper is I don’t think we get the full “her” in this book. Seems we might get more of her background in “Rock King”, book one in this series (which I haven’t read but plan to do so). Anywho, she’s spunky and sassy and she’s head heels for Landon still. She’s a bit of a hard ass when it came to forgiving Landon and rightfully so. Piper’s had her own issues growing up and they’ve scarred her a little.
This is one of those reads where the characters kind of end up together pretty early on and it’s more like them navigating all of the crap thrown their way throughout the story. In the end, this was a pretty good read. Definitely one to add to your TBR, I might even suggest adding to the top of the list.

Drum 🥁 roll plz - 10 off the chart stars for Tara Leigh’s Rock Legend

Received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

This book can be read as a stand-alone but u will also really enjoy the first book in the series Rock King 👍 So many amazing characters but I think I just absolutely fell in ❤️ with Landon & Piper’s story.

Landon & Piper have a past where their relationship ended badly - it actually didn’t end Landon just took off - no explanation with no further contact & present day he is now the legendary drummer for the rock group Nothing But Trouble.

Piper was so heartbroken never really having gotten over the love of her life. Finishing college & now working at a dream job for her boss Travis who just happens to be the bands manager. Piper has managed to avoid Landon until accidentally one night she finds herself ending up in Landon’s dressing room after a fundraising performance.

Wow - does the chemistry between these 2 sizzle & I love that Piper is no pushover demanding answers for why Landon left with no explanation. It doesn’t help matters that Piper just broke up with boyfriend after she finds out he had been cheating on her.

This book has some really interesting plot twists - one I really didn’t see coming ...

Landon knows he has made the mistake of a lifetime letting her go & knows he has to seriously get his act together if he is going to have even 1/2 a chance at winning Piper back & that she learns to trust in him & believe he is the man to make her happy... he definitely has his work cut out for him.

Tara Leigh not enough stars in the galaxy to rate what I love about this book but I know I will want to revisit these characters some day down the road ...

Thank u for tugging at my heart strings in the very BEST way possible.

Easily a top 5 read for me this year along with Rock King.

Highly recommending this book / series & author !!!

Lets start by saying...I love a Rockstar Romance....I could read one after another. However, i really struggled with Rock Legend. Tara is an amazing writer and writes so well and that i think this made my disappointment even worse. I felt like this was the same old story rehashed again. Rock star or Drummer in this case...runs away from his one true love because he is damaged and runs back into her years later ready to win her back.. I got half way through this book and lost interest the moment i heard about his brother as i knew it would all just lead to a happy ending.
The writing once again is flawless and i really wish Tara had brought something different and original to the story...

Rock star romances are like a bad habit for me. I love them even when they rip my heart out, which is exactly what Rock Legend did to me!

Landon Cox is one of the hottest drummers around, but he's sacrificed for all his success. His past weighs on his mind all the time and he surrounds himself with the typical rock star vices to try and forget about that past.

Piper is part of that past, but currently she also works for Landon's boss and tries to avoid running into Landon until it is inevitable. They both still love each other and for a quick moment it really seems like they were meant to be. Then things happen and it just starts to spiral and that's where my broken heart came in to play. (My Kindle only almost went flying a couple of times.)

These two were awesome together and Landon was HAWT, but it wasn't easy for them and it was plenty angsty in parts (which I personally love). Drugs, sex, and rock 'n' roll can set you up with a great life, but if you don't have the right tools to handle the success, you will inevitably stumble. What matters is who you have in your world to help you when you need it most, and if you're willing to accept that help when offered.

I've loved both books in this series and will be eagerly awaiting Dax's story coming this fall!

Awesome! I love this story! Landon and Piper get their second chance in the great book! I Love second chances! Their story is filled with past hurts and love that now has a chance to grow. I loved them both so much! I loved that they never really got over each other. This author definitely knows how to pull at the heart strings because I definitely was aching for them! This goes to show that if it's meant to be, it will be. I couldn't have asked for a better read! I can't wait for more!

“Legends were just made up stories about people that didn’t really exist.”

Rock Legend is book two in the Nothing But Trouble series by Tara Leigh. Wow. That’s the word I first want you to hear me say in regards to this book! Just Wow! While I really enjoyed the first book in this series, Rock King, I simply loved this one. I have read several rock star romances but this might be my first drummer. Does that mean I was a drummer virgin? If I was, I’m not anymore!

Landon Cox was the child of addicts and a product of the system. No one expected him to really make anything of himself. Landon’s love was always drumming. So when he met up with Shane and the guys and they formed the band, Nothing But Trouble, it was the perfect life for him. At first they weren’t much more than a garage band. But then when Travis signed them on, they all had hope that they could somehow make it.

Landon had met Piper when she was a freshman in college and they were inseparable. They spent two months together and it was the best two months either of them had ever experienced. But when Landon is given a choice, choose the band or the girl, he had to choose the band. His life depended on it.

Piper Hastings grew up never being enough for her father. Now in college she is finally free from his expectations. When she met Landon, she thought he was the one. He had very quickly become the center of her world. And then he was gone, just gone. She never knew where or why, only that he was gone. And, he took a part of her with him. Now six years later she works for Travis, Nothing But Trouble’s manager. Only she doesn’t deal with their band. She has managed to keep herself distanced from Landon. Until now. They haven’t been face to face for six years, until now! She should run, not walk, away from him but she can’t.

“She was everything I’d ever wanted. She was exactly what I’d never deserve.”

Landon has been on a wild ride since their band hit it big. But, no matter how much money he makes, no matter how many women he sleeps with, there has always been that missing piece until Piper was standing in front of him and that missing piece clicked right back into place. It was her that had been missing all these years.

“I’d grown a thick skin early in life, and the only one who’d ever gotten under it, burrowing way down deep, was the woman in front of me.”

“Piper deserved a great guy – and that wasn’t me. I could give her a great night, maybe more than one. But I couldn’t give her a future. Not the kind that ended well.”

Both Piper and Landon had unresolved darkness in their pasts. Both were keeping secrets. Six years ago, they weren’t much more than kids. They really hadn’t gotten to know each other that well. Now they had a second chance. But even as secrets are slowly revealed, can either of them truly move forward? Can Piper forgive Landon for walking away the first time?

“How could I have been so wrong? I needed to know him. The rock star and the wounded boy. The loner. The legend. Landon Cox was all of those things. And then some.”

This was such a beautiful book. Landon may have been a bad boy but he stole my heart. And when this man falls, he really falls. They had both dealt with so much pain and I wanted so badly for them to find happiness. Tara Leigh has such a beautiful way of writing. Even the sexy times are beautiful. I could not put this book down, and when I was forced to, I was thinking about it. And that epilogue! It was amazing! You can read this as a stand alone, but it would mean even more to you if you read the first book, Rock King, first. Then you can get the lead singer, Shane, and Delaney’s story since they do appear in this book. Delaney is Piper’s best friend. So I loved getting glimpses into their now happy life.

I also hope you’ll take a moment and read Tara’s acknowledgments and the Author’s Note at the end. Both moved me. This was a beautiful book, a wonderful second chance romance. I hope you’ll love it as much as I did.

“You deserve the world, Landon Cox.”
“You are my world, Piper Hastings.”

Tara Leigh won me over from the moment I entered Deal Breaker. The story grabbed me tight and I was desperate for more of the author’s work. When the Nothing but Trouble series was brought to my attention, I was instantly excited. Mixing an author I’ve come to love and one of my favourite things – rock star romances – together was a recipe to have my mind blown. What I did not expect was for my mind to be blown to quite the degree it was.

With Rock King, I found myself truly addicted. It was an even stronger book than Deal Breaker, coming extremely close to being a five-star rating. By the time I was done I had one thing on my mind – grabbing book two. I had intended to dive into book two the moment it appeared on my Kindle, unfortunately moving house meant I was unable to read it for quite some time. It was a painful wait, I would have happily not moved house so that I could dive into this, but it was certainly worth it. More than worth it, in fact.

I’ll be completely honest with you, I came even closer to handing Rock Legend a five-star rating than I did Rock King. What happened is what I commonly refer to as The Lies of Locke Lamora Effect. For those who have not read my other reviews where I have mentioned the aforementioned effect, I shall explain it to you. Scott Lynch’s The Lies of Locke Lamora is one of my all-time favourite fantasy reads. I recommend it to every fantasy lover, and those who are not fantasy lovers, because I love it so much. However, it is extremely rare for me to hand out five-star ratings. The fact I have read over two-thousand books and have handed out less than one-hundred five-star ratings demonstrates how rarely these ratings are handed out. Even some of my favourite books have not been given a five-star rating due to something small. My prime example is The Lies of Locke Lamora. It was little things that stopped that elusive five-star rating from being handed, and so The Lies of Locke Lamora Effect was born. It has happened quite a few times, in many genres – The Lies of Locke Lamora, Dark Matter, Rock King, to name a few, and now Rock Legend. If I were anyone else, if I were willing to hand over five-star ratings like the rest of the population, this one would had easily received the five-star rating. Unfortunately, I’m a truly horrible person and held off on handing the five-star rating – even when my finger was hovering over the five-star rating.

However, the fact both of the books in the Nothing but Trouble series have come so close to a five-star rating has left me with the belief one of the future books will manage to do so. There is no doubt in my mind, after just two books, that the Nothing but Trouble series is going to be one of my all-time favourite series. I cannot recommend them enough, and I do not doubt the books will continue to grow ever stronger.

So, what was it I enjoyed so much about this one?

Throughout Rock King, I was intrigued by the side characters. It was never enough to distract from the story, but when I found out we were to receive their book next, I knew I was going to be blown away. They were such great characters, and I could not wait to dig deeper into their world. Know you do not need to have read Rock King to enjoy Rock Legend, but I would recommend giving it a read – it’s a fabulous book, and it does help with some of the references given in this one.

Now, as excited as I was for the characters, I did not expect to fall as in love with them as I did. I did not expect to connect with them on such a deep level. You see, this is a story that touches me on a personal level. So many books out there deal with perfect and how you do not need to be perfect to find the one. Few have hit so close to home, though. Often, I will finish these books and think ‘nice message, shame it will never happen to me’. However, Rock Legend made me believe it is possible. It is one of the few books out there that touched upon something I experience daily and actually made me think there could be more for me out there. I’m not saying this is a book that preaches, far from it, I’m merely saying this book hits all the right buttons. The message it is sending is certainly received, and I couldn’t help but connect deeply with our characters.

Of course, there is more to the story than that. In fact, this book is an onion book. By this point, I’m sure we’re all aware of the onion analogy from Shrek. It applied to the first book, but this book takes it to a whole new level. Each time we think we have uncovered everything, another layer is revealed. We keep digging ever deeper, and the number of topics that are dealt with throughout this book is amazing. Each one is dealt with wonderfully, with care and feeling. I could sit and list all the elements I enjoyed, but to do so would be to start giving spoilers. Just know, there are so many wonderful elements dealt with throughout this book, and I loved them all.

I could fan girl forever about this one – it could easily become one of those reviews where I write a couple of thousand words and still say nothing due to all the gushing I am doing. Just know, this book hit hard, and I loved it so much.

I’m sure by this point you’re asking what that little thing was that prevented the five-star rating. After all, I am gushing all over the place. For me, the little thing that stopped me from giving a five-star rating was the fact I wanted more from the past between the characters. We get told about it, but I would have liked to experience more than just the little glimpses we were given. I’m very much someone who likes to experience the then and the now with second chance romances, and I would have just liked that little bit more so that I could have appreciated the then and now of the relationship more deeply. Like I said, it’s not a big thing, but I tend to find reasons not to give five-star ratings rather than reasons to give them. This is a reflection of me being a bad person rather than this being a bad book, because I honestly believe this is my favourite book of the year so far. The fact it was nearly my first five-star rating in over a year shows that.

Before I gush any more, I think it is time for me to bring this review to an end. To sum up my thousand-plus-words ramble, this book was truly amazing. Fabulous, wonderful, and all the other synonyms you can think of to say it blew my mind. Rock King hit me hard, Rock Legend hit me harder, and I’m almost scared to see how hard the next book in the Nothing but Trouble series hits me. I’m ready, though. I’m more than ready for book three, and I’m holding out hope of it being the book to break my over a year long dry spell of five-star ratings.

If you’ve yet to dive into the Nothing but Trouble series, you need to go and fix that problem right now.

Even when I was reading Rock King, the first in this series, I was ready for Piper and Landon’s story. For whatever reason I was just drawn to their characters. I wasn’t disappointed. Leigh has a way of just gutting you- seriously gutting you. I’m not a crier so when I get choked up or full on cry in a book I know the writing is amazing. Spoiler: the writing is amazing. No, I didn’t blubber like a baby but I did choke up- multiple times. There may have been a few tears…

The reason I loved this book so much was because it was so relatable, which was something that, at least for me, first book lacked. Landon was anyone who had been hurt too many times and felt like he didn’t deserve happiness. I really just wanted to reach through the pages and hug him. And maybe give him a cookie. His character arc was so well done! Watching him go from blissed out on drugs, women, and alcohol to being blissed out on Piper was beautiful. I think my favorite line in the entire book was “my world is on your axis, babe”. I just fell in love with that line and in turn Landon!!! Landon’s soul was just so full of anguish and torture. It was hard not to love him while also wanting to smack him upside the head.

And Piper! She was perfectly imperfect! Her work ethic and dedication made her so endearing! Her character arc was just as amazing as Landon’s. She had to learn to love herself and her flaws. In doing so, she learned to just be herself. She is such a strong character. I think everyone out there wants to be able to hold their own and be self-sufficient but at times, you need your people, your tribe, your loved ones. It was refreshing to watch Piper figure that out. The reason I say “refreshing” is because I feel like a lot of stories show the main characters only feeling worthy with their significant other’s love. And that is a really bad path to take and example to set. Piper and Landon definitely relied on each other and made each other happy but they were both able to focus on their own personal growth and happiness, which was the refreshing part.

Piper and Landon were perfectly described in this line, “Piper and I were so much a like that we were exact opposites. Mirror images.” They were the best people for each other!

This book did take me a little bit to get into. But that might be more on me than on the story itself. I have this odd problem of being able to guess the trajectory of a story within a few chapters or so. Happens with movies too. My freshman year in college I had a film student boyfriend who threw a fit because I figured out the killer in Seven the minute the actor playing the killer came on screen. He also got really mad when I figured out who the wolf was in the movie Red Riding Hood with Amanda Seyfried… So yes, strange problem. It really didn’t hinder the story for me but it annoyed me- but it annoys me every time it happens sooo, not Leigh’s fault. However, even though I knew what was going to happen, I really enjoyed this book. It was well written and a joy to read. I finished it in one sitting! I can honestly say, I’m very excited for the next book in the series!!!

If you’re a fan of Kylie Scott, you’ll definitely enjoy this book and series. Leigh is not an author you want to miss.

I got a copy of this for a fair and honest review. I love my rock star romances as much as the next girl, but this played out a bit different then I thought that it would. It was a second chance romance and the two main characters met while in college. She was head over heels for him and he has feeling for her but his desire for his music career lead him to do stupid guy things. It has taken a lot of twists and turns and a little push to get them in the someplace at the same time. Landon does not believe in happily ever after and he made his decision and believes now he has to live with that choice. Piper is doing her best to keep going but she can't forget the man she loves. The moments between them are hot and steam. I love the music the two of them make. But I can't tell you all that happens. Grab a copy and get rocking.

Let me start off by saying the colors of this book are beautiful - I was instantly drawn in.
The book itself was pretty great too. I will admit at certain points I thought this book was just like ever other rock star book where the male leaves the female and sleeps with every female within in his reach and then finds the error of his ways and gets back with the poor female he left behind. Blah. Been there, read that. Didn't want to read it again.
Luckily, Landon and Piper grow differently in this book at certain points and it becomes a great book. I liked how it ended (I won't ruin it for you).
Overall, I enjoyed this book. Now I want to go back and read book 1 - Delaney and Shane.
This was my first book by this author, but the second book in this series. I feel it can be read as a standalone even though I wish I had read book one first.

Absolutely beautiful! Rock Legend is so much more then you typical rock star books. Yes, there is sex, drugs and rock and roll but there is so much more. It actually has a wonderful story that will both break your heart and help put you back together again.

Piper and Landon are wonderful characters who have you routing for them right off the bat. Their story is a emotional read that will have you begging for more. I have fallen in love with this series and these rockers. I’m so excited to see where this author takes us next. You’ll definitely want to check it out.

My first Tara Leigh book was fan-freaking-tastic! 😍. Landon and Piper would not have been any more wonderful. Just the right amount of messed up. I'm always a sucker for a 2nd chance romance. I also love Rock star romances. So this book was totally up my alley!
I love when people admit that they've made a mistake and go above and beyond to make it right! Landon's addictions made this took a lot more difficult for him, but I had faith that he would get it together! In reading the epilogue I found part of it slightly disturbing and I was quite happy it showed up there and not as a full blown chapter of their story... Then I just might have had to be very angry at Ms Leigh!
I'm quite excited to read more from Tara Leigh. This series is very entertaining! 💜

Another enjoyable story from the Nothing but Trouble stable of rock stars and another reason why the band carries the name it does!

This time, it’s Landon Cox’s story waiting to be told. Landon, the effervescent drummer with Nothing but Trouble, is all about the partying and rock star lifestyle and believes in taking his excesses to an impossible height. The women he takes to his bed are there for one reason only and relationships are clearly not an option. That is until he sees the girl who stole his heart many years before he became a rock God.

Unbeknownst to Landon, Piper Hastings works for Travis Taggert the band’s agent. Keeping herself firmly away from Landon’s presence, Piper has successfully avoided a confrontation with him, that is until Delaney, lead singer Shane’s girlfriend drags her to one of the Nothing But Trouble gigs. With emotions running high, Piper flees backstage and into what she assumes is a safe area but unfortunately for her, she finds herself in Landon’s room.

Landon is stunned to see Piper again and it is clear that their chemistry and feelings for one another have not diminished with time. Piper knows starting anything with Landon would be asking for trouble but unfortunately, her heart and mind don’t see eye to eye.

As the story progresses, Landon and Piper continue to struggle with their feelings for one another but when their circumstances change so does their outlook on life. Can Landon put his demons to bed in order to settle down with Piper? You know what to do to find out!

Whilst I enjoyed this story, I wasn’t swept away by it as much as I was by Rock King. The story was steady and methodical until about 60% when suddenly the story suddenly starts to become all-consuming. From that point on I couldn’t put it down. The book is of course very well written and another reminder of why I fell for Tara Leigh’s writing style and her storytelling abilities. Definitely a book to recommend to romance readers with a penchant for rock stars, especially shirtless drummers!

This book was absolutely! The rock star trope is one of my absolute favorite romance tropes, so I tend to have high expectations when reading these books. And oh boy, this book did not disappoint. Landon was the dreamy drummer and Piper was the perfect PA. I love how their story developed after so much difficulty, resulting in a strong and powerful story about taking advantage of second chances, especially when it comes to love :) It was a little heavy on the angst, but I don't think that it detracts from their love story. Tara Leigh's writing style and prose was so simple and beautiful that it forced me to finish this book all in one sitting, which is pretty rare for me! Overall, this was a great romance that I would highly rec commend to anyone looking for a good romance!

I really liked this book. It is the second in a series and I haven't read the first one, but I plan to. It is alluded to in this book, but the book is truly a stand alone and I didn't feel like I missed anything of this story. This is a rock and roll second chance romance, well written.

Wow Tara you totally outdid yourself with this one. I loved Rock King but this one might become my new fave. Who would have thought that "Perfect Piper" had a secret in her past who broke her heart. That secret was Landon Cox drummer for the superstar band Nothing but Trouble. Piper and Landon had been inseparable then suddenly he disappeared. She never heard from him again until they accidently meet backstage after a concert six years later.

Once he sees her, Landon is determined never to let her go again. He has missed her during the years that they have been apart and wants to make a future with her. Pippa struggles to forgive him because of all the pain he caused her. This is not going to be easy for either of them, but it is smoking hot! Their intense passion for each other just leaps off the pages. However, they both have a lot of growing to do before their happily ever after. Landon has to give up his wild ways, and after he has an accident which almost finishes his career he realises that he has to be clean and sober to deserve a life with Piper. Piper has unexpected troubles of her own which almost turn her life in the wrong direction.

This is a hearbreaking, gut wrenching story of two people meant for each other. Tara is a fantastic writer who really pulls you into the story and doesn't let you go. An allnighter again for me! This is the second book in the series and though it can be read alone I would really recommend reading Rock King too.

Rock stars are one of our favorite genres and we really enjoyed the first book in the Nothing but trouble series, so we were excited to read Rock Legend!

It did take us a little while to get into the story. The male lead character came off as kind of a jerk at the start. But overall he wasn't as bad as we thought. The female character seemed a bit naive, but she was okay too.

Overall this 2nd book in the series was good. Not as good as the first book, but we enjoyed it. The other band members are a good background story and we get to know these secondary characters better- which we are assuming will lead to more books in the series.

Tara Leigh did it again. I thought for sure It wasn’t going to be better then book 1, I was wrong. This book has feelings everywhere. When you first start reading you think you have it figured it out. But then when everything starts coming out it’s overwhelming (in a good way)
The reason I love this book/series it’s because it different. It’s about a
Rock group but this group shares similar hurt but totally different stories.

It’s a must read. I can’t wait for book 3

After discovering Rock King I knew that I needed to read the rest of this series.

Rock Legend didn't disappoint and this second chance romance had my emotions at an all time high.

I gotta say Landon had some redeeming to do with me after seeing how he and Piper's relationship ended at the beginning of this read. The push and pull between these two is intense and their chemistry is undeniable but the biggest question is really whether or not Piper can forgive and forget and for that matter if she even should.

A fantastic read and I can't wait for the next one.

I really tried to read this book. I read it until chapter 5 and it just couldn't keep me interested. I'm really sorry because I usually love Rock star books
