This was a cute picture book for young children. My children loved reading about Lily and the chickens. A great picture book addition.

Pirate Chickens: All Hens on Deck was a pretty good book. It was nice to read something different for a change. The story starts off simple enough, but once a wish comes true it really took off. Things seemed to be going great for a while, but it didn’t last. As the tale came to a close a good lesson was learned. I can see kids having a lot of fun reading this story.

When one imagines animals standing in as pirates, chickens don't rate very highly on the list. Chickens are not particularly adventurous or swashbuckling by nature, so that alone lends an element of humor to this story. The illustrations are dynamic. The plot is solid, following the arc from leader to tyrant, back to good friend.

Brilliantly funny picture book that young children will love. Perfect for children that can read by themselves or like being read to. My seven year old loved this, giggled through it at the pictures.

Aaargh! What fun to see a pirate ship filled with chickens wearing red boots. Pirates take Lily and her fellow chickens prisoner on their ship. Lily embraces the life of a pirate and soon hijacks the ship when the pirates are partying on an island. For awhile it is the pirate's life for her until her chicken mates become tired of being bossed around. A wonderful look at the dreams of a chicken and the group negotiating that takes place.

Thank you for Sourcebooks and NetGalley for a digital ARC of this new picture book.

This was a cute little book, but I was hoping for more humor. The title was awesome because it reminded me of the tv show robot chicken and all hens on deck was funny in itself!

Thank you netgalley for this ARC!

What a fun story! I love how Lily the chicken reads and has all sorts of plans. And then pirates take her and her fellow hens captive. I live the growth in this book for Lily. Definitely would recommend :)

Pirate Chickens: All Hens On Deck.
"Lily was no ordinary chicken"....
This is the exact kind of book I always bought my kids. It was funny, had great artwork and was a silly story. What more does a book for small kids need? Kids get plenty of educational opportunities. They need to be kids and giggle. Laughing together is a perfect way to share time. I plan to purchase this book for my nephew.

"Pirate Chicken" is imaginative and fun. It's good for both pirate and chicken fans. Lily is an outgoing and educated chicken who wants more than farm life. She gets her chance for excitement when some pirates come and take her away along with all her chicken friends. She learns all she can about pirating and eventually all that knowledge comes in handy. Teachers can use it for sequencing.

This is the story of Henrietta, the most intelligent and literate of all the chickens in the henhouse. While the other hens go about their regular chicken-lives, Henrietta spends her time reading in a variety of subjects. One day, pirates appear and everyone panics, except Henrietta who is eager to join their ranks and find adventure. All of the chickens are forced to join the pirates, but the pirates carelessly maroon themselves on an island, leaving the chickens full run of the pirate ship. Henrietta now becomes the pirate leader RedBoots and quickly the power goes to her head. She wants to conquer and pillage and soon finds herself on the other side of a mutiny walking the plank. She realizes the error of her ways just in time and gets ahold of her ego. All the chickens find a way to live in harmony again.

This was a cute, quick picture book that I think elementary-age children will enjoy.I think children would find this funny, the idea of chickens being pirates and Henrietta letting power go to her head. The illustrations were also attractive and engaging.

Thanks to NetGalley for my complimentary copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

I think this is the start of something big:
Could this be the next Pigeon, Cows That Type, Clifford, or Olivia? Yes I see an endearing series here.

Lily, oh yeah, she is no ordinary chicken. She has grand plans for a life away from the farm. Her plan screams into action when she is recruited by pirates along with her fellow chickens. They are all whisked away to the open seas aboard a pirate ship. Immediately, Lily takes charge and becomes captain of an all chicken crew as the feared chicken pirate Redfoot. Lily’s britches become too big and she Is faced with a mutiny. Will she change her ways, or be forced to squawk the plank?

Bring on The Hens!

Lots of fun chicken books out there right now. This one was just okay for me. Was not as funny as I had hoped. Still a fun book for the chicken lovers.

This was a silly children's book about a chicken who dreams of more from life than living on the farm. She loves to learn and study and dream. Imagine what could happen when she and her fellow hens find themselves aboard a pirate ship and sailing the open seas.

Cluck, cluck, cluck! These chickens are in for surprise, some mutiny, warm shores, treasures galore, a wanted pirate hen captain and much more. Can they survive life as a pirate chickens? How much homework will they have to suffer through to appease Lily?

I thought the illustrations were pretty cute and the storyline is definitely one that will interest children and have them giggling watching what this silly Lily gets up to.

I received a copy from the publisher, Sourcebooks Jabberwocky, via NetGalley.
