This was a book that I read on my own when it was first published but had to shelve until my students were a little older to fully be immersed in the book with me, instead of just focusing on the pictures. Although the photography (and illustrations) in the book is beautiful, the information in it is just as important - and it is chock full of information about bugs! Once we started reading, everyone's attention was completely in the book - getting "up close and personal" with each of the bugs featured. This inspired several trips outside to look for bugs and study them in their habitats, which I more than welcome in my teaching! This is a great book to add to your science to make it fun and informative for your kids!

Amazing World: Bugs by LJ Tracosas give a peek at some of the oldest and most prolific creatures in earth. Twenty different creepy-crawlies are looked at, from fireflies to mantises. Each of the animal 'snapshots’ has a picture of the bug, and gives the distribution/range, preferred diet, and defensive abilities, as well as a handful of interesting facts. My cubs and I really enjoyed reading this book. And the pictures! Absolutely stunning! Perfect for the nature-loving child, and anyone who loves bugs.

***Many thanks to Netgalley and Quarto Publishing for providing an egalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

My grandson loves bugs. He doesn't like when we step on anything or swat something. This book had him mesmerized. He loved learning about the various insects, especially the ones he has never heard of before. Each but gets a two page spread. There is a large color pictures of each bug so you can actually see what the bug looks like up close and personal (well not really personal as it is just a photograph). Then you learn about the bug with information such as: habitat, diet, protection, does it bite or sting etc. There are tons of facts about the bug and I learned a lot reading this book as well. There are wonderful illustrations to go along with the photos, and a fact file for each insect. While my grandson is still young and did not understand everything in the book, he loved it, asked a lot of questions and I know he would love to read it himself when he is older. I am definitely going to buy him a copy for his birthday so he will have it to read and look at as well as get the glow in the dark stickers. A great addition to a family, classroom and school library (especially for the boys and those reluctant readers). The publisher, Quarto Publishing Group - Becker & Mayer Kids!, generously provided me with a copy of this book to read and review. The rating, opinions and ideas shared are my own.

This book is essential for a classroom library. The color photographs draw the reader in and provide the necessary engagement to move on the perfect sized morsels of information. This book is also perfect for dividing up among students for research and inquiry. Who would not be engaged when looking into the eyes of the alluring arthropods on every page!

This is a very informative non-fiction book for young readers. It contains full-color pictures of a variety of bugs as well as several facts about each one. Some of the bugs are well-known ones that children will be familiar with, and others are unusual bugs they may not know exist. This is a fun way to introduce children to bugs, nature, and science.

I received this book via Netgalley.com to read and review.

Most kids are curious about everything around us. This set of Amazing World books are great. In this book about Bugs, you and your child will learn about 20 different bugs. Some of the bugs are every day and ordinary some are wild, strange, and anything but ordinary. While reading this book I learned of a few bugs I have never heard of.

The book has large color pictures of each bug so you can actually see what the bug looks like. It also tells you where and how the bug lives, eats, and survives. Which ones bite or sting as well. The pages about each bug may be short but there are tons of facts about the bug. It also tells you the different types of bugs in each bug family, and their differences.

The book is very interesting even to us adults. If you buy the paper book instead of the ebook it also comes with 13 reusable glow-in-the-dark plastic stickers.

I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com to read and review.

Do you have a little bug lover in your life? This book is a great guide to the world of bugs. What they eat, where they live, and SO MUCH MORE! It is a quick read, and kids 5 and up will enjoy reading through and learning new little tidbits about some of their favorite critters.

Jump in and get to know the bug world just a little bit more this summer, and then head outside to find and watch your new little friends.

"Amazing World: Bugs" is a non-fiction book that introduces children to the weird and wonderful world of bugs. It explored the world of 20 impressive insects, from shimmering glow worms and fireflies, to the extremely odd giraffe bug. Each of these bugs gets their own two-page spread which includes information of their habitat, diet, and size plus a few other interesting tidbits.

The full-colour photographs are detailed and of excellent quality. They would certainly engage younger readers, the information presented would also be easily disgestible for those particular youngsters. I particularly liked the beautiful photo of bioluminescence in the forest at night. This is bound to get children asking questions.

I feel this would be a great addition to a school or children's library or anywhere a child has access to books. It's also perfect to purchase for your home library if you have young kids.

Many thanks to Quarto Publishing Group - becker&mayer kids! for an ARC. I was not required to post a review and all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

This is a non-fiction text that focuses on 20 different bugs. It includes details as to their size, diet, range, and then a few other odd and interesting facts about each bug. Each bug gets its own 2-page spread.

Each two page spread is very appealing – particularly for the younger and more visually engaged reader. This book would also be a great choice for disengaged learners. The photographs are very clear and show a lot of detail that you may not even see if observing with a magnifying glass. I am particularly fond of the fact file that appears for each bug..

Really, no way you shouldn’t stock this one for your classroom and home as it is a fantastic introduction to bugs that even young kids (mine are almost 4) can understand.
