Joanna is a local party planner. She is planning a wedding for local spoiled rich girl Poppy. When she is found dead at the rehearsal dinner Joanna sets out to solve the murder. Joanna's character quirk is that she can taste people. In this book that quirk gets very tiresome quickly. I really disliked it. There was a lot of repetition. Once the murder occurs Joanna's investigative technique is to visit the suspects and accuse them of murder. I was hoping the police chief would lock her up and throw away the key or her attacker was successful. None of the characters were likable, even the dog was unsympathetic This book was painful to read and I did skip over a lot. The killer was not a surprise. There are recipes in the back of the book but even those were painful to read. This cozy was not for me.

A cozy mystery about a woman with synesthesia. An interesting concept but I think for me the writing style wasn't a fit. The plot was great but the writing made it slow for me to get into. Despite the difficulty i had getting into it I really enjoyed the plot and characters.

I liked this book about party planner Joanna Christie. She is working on the wedding of a particularly obnoxious bridezilla. I disliked the bride to be and almost cheered when she was murdered at the wedding rehearsal. I loved the other characters, sympathized with the groom to be, and rooted for Joanna throughout the book. This is a strong first novel of what promises to be an interesting series.

In Sickness and in Death by Alana Ling is the 1st book in the Murder, She Tasted series. Joanna Christie is a party planner who has a unique condition called visual-gustatory synaesthesia, where she can taste people. Each person has a unique flavor, some good and some bad. Joanna is working on bridezilla's, Poppy, wedding in her hometown of Haven-on-Sea, England. When everything is going smoothly, Joanna finds Poppy murdered at the wedding rehearsal. To save her business, Joanna is determined to find the killer. This book was a fun quick read that I enjoyed. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I recommend this book for cozy mystery lovers.

I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

A fun to read and really enjoyable cozy mystery. There's an interesting plot, a likeable cast of characters and it's a very pleasant read.
I hope to read soon other instalments in this series.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC

This book is a great start to what seems to be a fun, quirky series. I usually don't like fluffy sort books like this as I call them. This book though is a great quick read after you've read a darker novel. The main character is a party planner who has to deal with an obnoxiously rude bride to be. When that unbearable bride is murdered at her wedding rehearsal there is a mystery to be solved. It is certainly a lot to handle for a party planner who risks losing her business now because of said murder. Oh, did I mention she has an ex husband to deal with, a mother not on her side, and now she has to play detective? You'll love it!

Interesting twist on the usual baking cozies. Fun, quirky, and unique characters that kept my attention throughout. Love to know some of them in real life. Plot kept me interested and will be looking for more in this new series. Wonderful start.
