A very twisty and fast-paced mystery with two strong lead characters. Once she finds out who’s trying to kill her, Jonna realizes she’s up against the worst danger of her life. Ian can’t imagine losing her like he lost the last woman he tried to protect. I also very much enjoyed the unique setting, having a storm spotting lodge on the Washington coast. That's one I haven't seen used before!

Ian Brady is an ex-member of the Diplomatic Security Service, he resigned after a tragic loss. Now he works as a private security consultant with his Uncle Gill, and has taken a job protecting a former HSI agent, but he can't let her know he is protecting her.

Jonna Strand has made a new life for herself faraway from Miami, she manages a lodge on the rocky, Washington Coast where guests come to watch the storms roll in from the ocean. She has just started to feel safe again, until her old boss calls, and then she notices someone following her.

Jonna is a strong independent woman, and she doesn't want to drag others into her problems. I like the way that they work together, they make a good team and appreciate each other's strengths. Jonna wants to stand her ground and refuses to go into hiding, she is determined to get to the bottom of everything.

Ian is very focused on prevention, and is very good at pinpointing potential dangers, he is committed to his duty of protecting Jonna.

The setting is beautiful, and really is a haven in the storm. The graphic imagery of the storms rolling in adds a chilling atmosphere to the lurking threat of danger, but there is also a calmness as well.

Overall, and action packed read with a great mystery, and great characters, I love Ian and Jonna and how they work together, and trust in God. Also a terrific ending!

Wow! I was sick when I was reading this book but that didn't stop me from staying up all night to finish it. I was blown away with the intense killers, and the strong chemistry between our heroes. It was fast paced and delightful for a mystery fan to read.

This was such a fast paced story that I found myself falling into without wanting to get out of. I loved the twists and turns. I loved the romance that was brewing between Jonna and Ian. I loved following along as they were trying to figure out who was trying to get her and why. I loved that there was so much going on that it was easy to get hooked and harder to put down. Overall pretty good mystery suspense novel.

Joanna jogged the wintry Washington shoreline and her inner alarm forewarned her of danger. It was left over from her previous training as an ICE agent - more specifically an HSI -the Homeland Security Investigation division of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. But Joanna had put that life behind her. Joanna had been out of law enforcement for three years but Joanna still runs six miles every day as she tries to stay fit. Janna now has the Oceanview Lodge which was a storm watching inn. Joanna’s old boss Gil Reeves had contacted her and mentioned her nae had come in chatter . There had been a man following Joanna but now he seems to be gone. Then a hooded man stepped around the rocks and aimed a gun at Joanna. Then Ian Brady lunged at the guy who had the gun on Joanna. Ian went past the pain and pinned the guy and then got to his feet with the man secured in his grip then the ocean ripped the man from Ian’s grip. He held his breath then felt the wet sand beneath his him. Hands gripped Ian and he wrestled the person to the ground, then he realized it was Joanna the woman who ran the lodge where he stayed. Ian had been secretly sent to protect Joanna by his Uncle Gil. They made it to the slippery stairs that led to the lodge. The would be shooter made it to another set of stairs up the cliff. To get away. Ian then said he wanted to try to catch the man and try to find out who he was. Then Joanna said they would take her car. Ian thought about how Joanna could have died today it would have been another failure. Gil still felt an obligation to keep Joanna safe from the criminals she’d angered in her years of service. She didn’t know who shot her or why. She resigned over the phone As far as the guy who shot ehr knew Joanna was dead. Ian felt he had failed a person he had grew to love and who loved him but then she was killed and Ian got out of the life until his uncle called him and said he needed someone he knew he could trust. Three years ago Joanna had finished wrapping up a human trafficking case when she went missing. They thought she was dead but then Joanna called Gil said she had been attacked and shot and left to die in a marsh. Joanna woke up in a hospital. She didn’t know who shot her she had lost her memory of the attack Gil made it clear he didn’t want Joanna to know Ian was there to watch and protect her. Joanna had been determined to keep her distance from others, not let anyone near her. She insisted she could take care of herself. Joanna felt she was too broken to love or be loved. With this attack she realized she could never let her guard down. Ian and Joanna formed a laid back friendship since he’d been at the lodge. When Joanna was inside changing she realized Ian was outside talking to Sheriff. Even though she shouldn’t/couldn’t be attracted to Ian,
I loved this story : the mystery, intrigue, drama, attempted murder several times, and even some romance who could ask for more ? I love the pacer and plot. I read this in two setting but in twenty four hours I did have to sleep. I just couldn’t put this down. This book had me on the edge of my seat the shooters always seem to get away. I loved how Gil cared about Joanna and sent Ian out to secretly protect her. I also loved the ending. I happily found nothing to criticize in this book. I loved the characters and the ins and outs in this book and I highly recommend this book.

Stormy Haven by Elizabeth Goddard is a suspenseful mystery with a stormy backdrop. It is book two in the Coldwater Bay Intrigue series but easily stands on its own.

Former ICE agent Jonna moved from Miami after being left for dead to the Pacific Northwest. She runs a bed and breakfast for tourist to watch the storms roll in. I found her occupation very interesting. I didnt realize watching storm could be a business. I grew up in the mid south where you see tornados destroy towns.

Ian is a former bodyguard who is sent to watch over Jonna by his uncle. They have great chemistry together and worked well as partners while trying to find the killers. Both Jonna and Ian have interesting backstories that make their relationship a tad bumpy at times. Ian was a great protector.

Stormy Haven is full of action and suspense with some surprises and plot twists that you do not see coming.
My only complaint is that the book seems to repeat itself a little too much. I would still recommend the book for the interesting background of the storm and the surprises in the mystery.

Stormy Haven is a satisfying Christian suspense novel by Elizabeth Goddard. Featuring dangerous situation after dangerous situation, readers will enjoy the suspenseful scenes.

Jonna is a retired ICE agent who left the force so that she could go into hiding. She chose the rugged coast of Washington and has found peace there. Ian is a retired bodyguard who left the force because of a case gone bad. They are both capable and solid characters, brave in dangerous moments and determined to solve who is after Jonna. Their romance seems a bit sudden, but they definitely are a good fit for each other.

This is one of the better "Love Inspired" stories that I have read in this Harlequin line. I always like the Christian slant, although there isn't much in Stormy Haven. Even though the book isn't loaded with Christian reference, fans of the genre will like it.

This was a good one. Ian has been sent by his uncle to keep watch over Jonna. The problem is, she doesnt' know it and he is supposed to keep it a secret. I really liked how the author did her descriptions. Jonna is not a damsel in distress, but a competent former agent. She doesn't know exactly why she is being targeted but she is done hiding.

Ian is a strong man with his own past and issues to overcome. Jonna is his mission and more. Even if he hadn't been sent, he would have protected her anyway. That is just the kind of man he was. I really liked that his uncle was protective of Joanna too. The story itself was good, pulling you along.

It was a 4/5 for me. I enjoyed the read.

Thank you to the author for the review copy of this book. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.

“Stormy Haven” by Elizabeth Goddard is a very suspenseful, riveting novel which takes place in Washington State. Jonna is the owner of an inn which caters to guests who enjoy watching the storms that plague the Pacific coast. Jonna is a former Homeland Security agent who was shot and left for dead a few years previously thinking that she would just take advantage of that. She received a call from her former boss saying that her name had come up again. Not knowing exactly what that meant, she went about her life. Jogging early one stormy morning, she notices a man keeping pace with her and become apprehensive. When he accosts her and she thinks she is going to be killed, Ian Brady comes to her aid. He must now keep Jonna safe without her knowing that he has been sent undercover to protect her. Someone is out to get her and consequently kill him too. Jonna and Ian have to discover who is after them and try to stay alive when they do.

This was a very good book, and although a short one, kept my interest with constant incidents of danger. Very good book.

"Stormy Haven" is a Christian romantic suspense novel. Jonna left law enforcement when she was shot and left for dead during an investigation. She decided to "disappear" by retiring and moving away before anyone but her boss knew that she was still alive. But someone is trying to kill her again, and she's not going to run away this time!

Ian retired as a bodyguard when he failed to protect a client whom he'd come to love. When his uncle hears some criminal chatter mentioning his former agent, he hires Ian to secretly watch over Jonna. Protecting someone is difficult enough when they cooperate, but Jonna insists on being in the middle of the investigation...and the chases.

The suspense came from repeated and frequent attacks on Jonna. I understood why she didn't want to simply hide and wait. I liked that some of the attacks used her desire to be proactive to draw her and Ian into danger. Poor Ian had a hard job keeping them both alive, though Jonna worked with him as much as possible as long as she got to be a part of the action.

They both admired and were attracted to the other. Still, they both rejected the idea of a relationship together...until the end, when Ian jumps to "I want to marry you" after only knowing Jonna a few weeks. They got along well and made a good team, but that was a bit quick.

The main characters occasionally prayed. Ian needed to forgive himself for past mistakes. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable and exciting novel. Love the book cover, too.
