Kate Hardy is a go-to for me for Medical romances. She writes such fantastic stories. And of course, the Medical line is one of my favorites. Daniel touched my heart with his attraction and his reluctance. And of course, what happened to him in the past had me totally cheering for him to get his happy ending.

I really enjoyed this one, despite the somewhat silly title! Having just had a new baby, I was looking for something light, quick, sweet, and easy to read. This one fit the bill exactly right. In a nutshell, it’s the story of two doctors who both have traumatic pasts as they learn to navigate a new relationship together, despite fighting it at first.
I loved the characters, the medical setting, and the fact that the story actually delves into some deeper subjects such as pregnancy loss and mental health issues. I flew through this story quickly despite my current baby sleep deprivation. I could also relate to several of the issues presented in the book, which I really enjoyed.
Recommended for romance readers!

Beatrice now worked at Muswell Hill Memorial Hospital. Beatrice was getting a fresh new start in a new place where no one knows her or her past. Beatrice’s life had imploded four years ago when she had been married and pregnant for a daughter until she was hit in a car accident. Her daughter was born still born and she ended up divorced and shattered. Beatrice was from a wealthy fa,ily but left everything behind when she came to her new beginning. Everyone here would get to know Beatrice as she really was- the new emergency consultant, who was cool, calm, and perfectly controlled. Beatrice was being given a tour and meeting the other people she would be working with. Then she met Dr. Daniel Capaldi and when they shook hands she had a tingle that went all the way down her spine. Beatrice couldn’t remember the last time she had reacted to so strongly to anyone. Daniel was thinking about how Beatrice got the job everyone had thought had Daniel’s name on it. Part of daniel had wanted the job, nut part of him didn’t as he knew he couldn’t give the department as much time as he would have needed to. Not and be a good single parent to his four year old son Iain that he had full custody of. If things had been different with his wife jenny but she had bad postnatal depression. One day Jenny had just wandered off and left Iain alone in the house and she had disappeared. She was found as someone recognized her picture being shown for a missing person. Jenny had went to a counsellor but the marriage was already destroyed. Jenny was now remarried and settled down. Daniel had felt the handshake in every nerve ending in his body. Daniel had never been so physically aware of anyone before. But Iain was Daniel’s world and it was going to stay that way. Daniel and Beatrice were polar opposites.Beatrice noticed Daniel being distant to her. The next day when she seen him she told Daniel they would be having lunch. This bothered Daniel as he had heard from the others how well Beatrice got along with everyone, how well she listened to patients, and comforted the patients also. Iain meets Beatrice and instantly likes her and thinks she is a princess because of the way she talks. Daniel had been fighting his attraction to Beatrice but then the chemistry won.
I enjoyed reading this book. Beatrice was such a strong woman with all she had to live through and overcome then to move and make a fresh start had to be hard even if it was all she could do to stay sane and completely heal. I liked Daniel and Beatrice together and their hot chemistry. I did love how Daniel was with Iain and made him his top priority. But he did have a right to also start over and find happiness which included Iain. But this was very predictable and I like some surprises or twists. I liked the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend.

Well, the title basically tells you what is going to happen in this novel; however it takes a while for the whole carrying part of the plot to come about. The heroine, Beatrice, is new to the London hospital as she takes up a supervisory job in the ER. She’s trying to rebuild her life after a devastating loss of a baby and a husband. Daniel is also an ER doctor, but he doesn’t want to get involved with Beatrice, despite being attracted to her, because he feels all his focus should be on his four-year old son.
But luckily, the son likes Beatrice and his mother likes Beatrice and he likes Beatrice so it’s all going to work out eventually. Yeah, she’s from a wealthy aristocratic background and he isn’t, but that all works out easily also.
There are good people who both have suffered in the past and now are just working hard at their jobs and in their personal lives. I might have recommended giving the book a different title so that the reader had some mystery of how things were going to work out.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.
