Perfect book to curl up with after a stressful day at work. Two great characters, lots of steam, and the best epilogue I think I have ever read (and I usually find them unnecessary). There is also some emotional depth with two people reacting to very different family situations, Kyle by wanting to take on the responsibility for everyone in his clan and Val dealing with a lifetime of neglect from her father. I was surprised how much I enjoyed this one and am looking forward to the next in the series.

I received copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I received an arc from Netgalley. I enjoyed this book and the author. The epilogue had me giggling and it was good to see the father and daughter relationship restored in the end. 3.5 stars

So we meet Ashley who loses her twin at a very young age in a tragic accident that her dad had, and on her birthday she is feeling even lonelier than normal, she not only misses her twin but she misses her father who stopped giving her attention as if she died along with her twin. She ends up meeting rugby player Kyle who just got hired by her fathers team and their is instant attraction, she does give her name but she never mentioned who her father is and that she is off-limits to his team. They have an explosive night together and she leaves and he still does not know, and boy does he get a surprise..There was humor and sadness and eventually forgiveness and love, grab a copy my friends and Enjoy!

Ok, this book made me cry! We've seen throughout this series that Val and Griff (father and daughter) had a strained relationship. When I read what happened...Wow! Just tragic and very sad for all parties involved. Don't get me wrong, I loved Kyle and Val's story. I enjoyed watching them try and work their relationship around the taboo of a player with the coach's daughter. But let's just say that it was icing on the cake to finally see Val and Griff patch their relationship as well. Overall, this series of standalone's is a very fun read and I've enjoyed getting to know each and every one of these players. Keep em coming Amy Andrews! ARC provided by NetGalley.

This was the Sidney Smoke book I had been waiting for.
I always knew Val's story would have me on the edge of my seat, but this went above all expectations. I couldn't put the book down once I started it. I had to know what was going to happen to Val and Kyle and how Griff and the team would react.
Amy Andrews has created a world with characters that are unforgettable and human. She makes you want to root for people that only exist on pages of a book, and watch a little rugby to understand the game references.
I hope there are more Sidney Smoke books to come. There are a lot of these guys that need their own happily ever after.

Outstanding, sexy rugby romance

I have loved reading Amy Andrews' Sydney Smoke Rugby series and Playing Dirty is a great addition to that series.
Val was a sassy, independent yet vulnerable woman who meets her match in Kyle, a caring, smart sexy rugby player. The instalove/lust was absolutely scourching! The plot line was interesting tho at times a little heartbreaking but it moved seeminglessly to an amazing HEA. I highly recommend this book and the rest of this series.

5 - "Let me be your dirty little secret..." Stars!

Book six in the Sydney Smoke Rugby series, finally gives us Coach’s Daughter; Valerie King’s story, and who else would the author pair her up with but the cocky new-boy; Kyle Leighton, someone who has no clue who she is or that the woman he meets in a bar and has a ONS with is so off limits, that he is potentially risking his whole career being with her.

He couldn’t remember the last time he’d wanted a woman so instantly…

This book has been a long time coming for me. Having read all of the previous books in the series, the whole dysfunctional dynamic between Val and her father has been playing out as a small secondary side story while the main characters work towards their own HEA’s.

"Tell me to stop…"

"…Not in a million years."

Everything is laid out in the open between them in Playing Dirty and while for the bulk of the book the action is mainly focused on the deliciously dirty illicit goings on between the H/h, the last 30% of the story is where everything also comes to a head with her father as well, and it put me as well as them through a bit of an emotional wringer. I literally went from laughing my ass off to sniffling into a tissue in the space of what felt like a paragraph, but seeing a strong alpha guy on his knees in an emotional sense always does that to me.

"I don’t know how to stop wanting you…"

Amy dialed up the dirty in this one too, this is a couple not afraid to let go and experiment and I enjoyed the whole story from start to finish immensely, and the epilogue was one of the best I have read for a while too. You can absolutely read this as a standalone, and for me Playing Dirty just tips Ryder’s book; Playing with Forever as my favorite.

"You give good horn…"

With Donovan and Griff still to come, all bets are off as to whether it will stay in that position by the end of the series.

Who knew going mad would be this fucking awesome..?

One rule, just one. You don't mess with the coaches daughter. Not ever. Kyle is new to the team and when he meets Val in a bar and the two strike up a brief conversation then leave together it's the start of something that puts Kyle in a rough place not only with her father but his teammates as well. When Kyle tries to find Val he's cut off at every pass. His teammates shun him, and no one is helpful to him. Except one person who knows all too well the struggle between father and daughter.
Val is the invisible daughter to her father. The night she and Kyle met was her birthday, a day she tries to forget every year being the surviving twin. Her sister died when she was two. Val owns a bakery in town and is well known for all her delicious treats. Kyle went there every morning not knowing it was her bakery. The backstory is heart wrenching but it's so well threaded through the story as to why Griff King is such as jerk, treats his daughter as persona non grata except to make the hands off rule and when her relationship with Kyle continues we see this story unfold in the steamiest and best of ways. I absolutely loved Kyle. Loved how he stood up for Val and made Val feel like she wasn't the least common denominator. I read this book in one sitting and couldn't put it down. I loved the story, the characters have depth and real and the steam was outrageous. Amy is right at the top of the list for steamy, hot, delicious romance and this book was no exception.
It's an absolute must read. More than a 5 star read.

Amy Andrews hasn’t dropped the ball yet with her Sydney Smoke Rugby series and this sixth visit keeps up the trend, bringing us the team coach’s daughter and baker, Val King and newest signing, Kyle Leighton.

“Fast, slow, multiple, tantric. Orgasms delivered just the way you want them.”

Val and Kyle waste no time in becoming acquainted with one another with him being initially clueless that he’s rocking the world of his boss’ daughter after meeting her in a bar. And whilst definitely one of the more heated offerings of the series, alongside their scorching shenanigans runs a romance with lovely light sweeter moments and humour but also those which tug on the heartstrings as Kyle and Val navigate their way through forbidden territory thanks to Griff‘s making his stance on a player dating his daughter very clear.

“You know that thing I said about family being complicated?”

This couple have quickly become one of my favourite of the series and with us finally discovering the reason why Val’s relationship with her dad is so strained, we’re also given some answers as to why Griff’s not easiest man to get along with leaving me wanting to get my hands on him is even more. There aren’t many series’ out there that I would happily read every book again, but this is one of them and whether you’ve read the previous books or not, Playing Dirty is one you don’t want to miss out on

This book has both cursing - including a TON of f-bombs – and copious amounts of on-page sex. If either of those things will cause you to leave a bad review, this is definitely NOT the book for you.

After really enjoying the books that started this series, I could not wait for Val to get her own story, and to see how things worked out between Val and her father, but I was really disappointed in this one. While I really liked both Kyle and Val as characters and wanted them to find their happily ever after together, their actual relationship was never really developed. They went from a quick, one-night hookup to in love via one sexual encounter after another in a “sex = love” way that is frustrating to me. Unlike the previous books where the characters actually got to know each other outside of the bedroom while still having sexy, sexy times, other than some very serious pillow talk (which I thought was one of the best parts of the entire book) and one scene with Kyle's family (which also included a sexual encounter, of course) there was very little real, personal interaction between them. I enjoy sex in a book as much as anyone, and Ms. Andrews writes hot hot sex, but it got to the point where I kept skimming the sex scenes to try to get to something with substance that would make me believe in their happily ever after.

Despite my doubts about their longevity, I did really enjoy the end of the story because the grand gesture was fantastic and hilarious, and the epilogue was incredibly sweet. *slight spoiler to end of paragraph* I also thought that the way that the resolution of Val and Griffin's issues happened was excellent and heart-wrenching. If it weren't for the last few chapters of this book, Playing Dirty would have been a two-star read for me because this one just felt more like an after-thought rather than a full-on story. It makes me sad to say that because I'm a big fan of Ms. Andrews' writing. If this is your first Amy Andrews book, I highly suggest you go back and read the other books in this series – don't judge it on this one.

I'm a sucker for a good Rugby story and while I missed starting this series, I will agree you can read them as standalones!

Val is an awesome character, strong and independent. Kyle is a typical playboy and hotshot player but manages to redeem himself a little bit. A sweet and sexy story that reads quick!

Not just another smoking hot rugby romance from Amy Andrews and the Sydney Smoke gang but the one where we finally get to meet Val, the coach's daughter who is strictly off-limits to the players. As heartbreaking as Val's history was, this story belonged to the cocky, confident new Smoke teammate Kyle who was all in for Val:
A man who was sensitive to a woman's needs out of bed and willing to service her in any way in bed was a rare beast. The fact that he was just a little bit forbidden added to the allure.
What I most enjoyed was that Kyle was, from their a meet-hot in a bar on Val's birthday, completely snared by Val but his attraction wasn't fueled or based on his coach's ban on any teammates dating his daughter. While Val had understandable but serious daddy issues, Kyle was simply a guy who wanted to play rugby and be with his girl.
"What if I could have both? What if I told you I could handle my career and your father just fine without dancing around and pretending I'm not totally hot for his daughter?"
To be honest, I didn't care for Val and her father's painful history and how they handled their years of estrangement. As much as Val bemoaned her father's coldness towards her, Val could be just as emotional and volatile.
But for now, she was angry. She didn't care how irrational or petty it might be. That was how she felt, and goddamn it, surely she was entitled to her own bloody emotions?
What saved this was Kyle bumbling around trying to prove himself to Val in the most adorable of grand gestures. That he met her anger and hurt with nothing but patience and humor was so sweet.
Val nodded briskly. "You've made your point. I know. Happy now?"
He dropped his head to the side and regarded her for a moment. "Nah." He laughed. "You gotta mean it."
And then, oh boy, the most adorable of reconciliations made this emotional rollercoaster worth it. Kyle made this return to the Sydney Smoke team worth it.

I had been wondering about Valerie King since the series started. I am so glad we are finally getting her book. I enjoyed this story and both the main characters, Val and Kyle. I think Val's dad was a little over the top and so was the end of the novel.

The coach's daughter is always off-limits. And our hero, Kyle knew that.

Problem was, he had never met her, he had no idea what she looked like, so how was he to know the woman that caught his eye and the one he had slept with was his coach's daughter, Val?

Val's childhood hadn't been a good one. Divorced parents, absentee father. Major issues nobody would want to touch. Except for Kyle, who actually wants repeats and more, even after he promised the coach he'd stay away.

I liked Val, even though she tricked Kyle, she did start to care about him, then fall for him. She just wanted some attention from her dad, to know he cares. As for Kyle, I liked him too, even though he just had to stick his foot inside his mouth, but he managed to redeem himself. That part was actually my favorite.

The writing style was good, it reads smoothly. The characters are well-developed and the plot has depth. So if you like sports romance, especially Rugby players who'll do anything for the woman they love, including standing up to the coach and an entire team of Rugby players, then this one's for you.

I liked it and will read more by this author. I voluntarily agreed to read an early copy of this book via Netgalley and my rating is 3.5 stars.

Valerie King is having a pity party for one, when she is hit on by none other than Kyle, rugby team Sydney Smokes newest member.
Kyle can’t forget the woman he had a one night stand with and when he spots her at the stadium, he doesn’t think twice before kissing her.
When he learns that Val is his coach’s daughter. The coach who has one rule stay away from his daughter, daughter he can’t stop thinking about.
Playing dirty was a fabulous read. The main characters and the supporting ones were great. The emotions, wit, humor and amazing chemistry kept me hooked, and I hated to see it end. I hope there are more books to follow in the series.

I could kinda cope with the female main character inthis book. Nothaving a relationship with my own father, butfor diff reasons. Great book. Kept me in a emotional mess the whole time. I loved it and can't wait to read more!

Playing Dirty is Kyle and Val’s story. Their connection was immediate, but they had a number of obstacles to tackle. Kyle’s rugby coach was Val’s father, and he had a well-known rule that his daughter wasn’t allowed to date rugby players. Val and her dad had a very tenuous relationship that resulted from her identical twin’s accidental death when they were toddlers. These obstacles were eventually overcome. This is really more of a novella than a novel, so the brevity doesn’t really allow for a lot of character development, but it is an enjoyable quick read.

Kyle is just so sweet, “I was hot for you the moment I saw you sitting on that barstool all alone, murdering olives with a toothpick.” I mean the man is like a caveman, “my shirt. My icing. My come. Is it wrong to admit how hot it is knowing I’m the one who wrecked you?” Sometimes for his well-being Kyle has to placate his woman, "Kyle nodded. It seemed like the right thing to do, given the situation and her temporary possession by the devil, ... “I know, I’m sorry.” I liked this book, I loved Kyle.

I love Amy Andrews, and this is another winner in the Sydney Smoke series. I love Val and her determination to be her own woman and to not let her man or her father determine her course in life. She's dealing with some hardcore family issues from her past, and I my only complaint is that I wished she wasn't quite so hung up with daddy issues. However, once she hooks up with Kyle, she's determined to take charge of her own life. She was, to me, a very likable heroine. Kyle was great, too, although I wasn't entirely convinced he would just give it up and stop being a ball hog, I did like that he really wanted to be a better player and felt that Val's father (his coach) was the man to help him.

Super enjoyable. VERY sexy, as always, with Amy Andrews.
