This was an okay book but moved way to slow for my liking. I did not care all that much for the characters.

This was my first book by author Heidi Perks, but it won't be my last!! I loved her writing style, her characters, her twisty plot and her WTF did I just read...what I didn't love was the amount of character's that didn't really play any role in the story and the extra fluff that wasn't needed and didn't really add anything to the story. This reader also didn't like the two main character names of Harriet and Charlotte as they were so similar. The ending was also a little bit of a let down...I love a solid, concrete ending to any book, but this one was not that...

The twists, turns, loops and curves are epic, the author does an amazing job of keeping the reader on the edge of their seat throughout the story...they think that they have it all figured out and then BAM there is another twist! Another WTF moment...this book is a good read and one that I recommend if you like twisty, what just happened books.

"Her One Mistake" is a rather predictable story overall. Charlotte has taken her children and Alice, her best friend's child, to the fair. What follows unfolds into a rather predictable tale with good characters to bolster it. It definitely could have gone other places to be a little less predictable but as it is, it's an overall okay novel.

Why did I wait so long to read this book? Thanks to NetGalley, I was sent a pre-publication copy. Once I started it, I could not put it down. Charlotte has taken her children and Harriet's daughter, Alice, to the neighborhood school fair. She only took her eyes off Alice for a moment, and she disappeared!! Every parents' nightmare. What happens next will keep you turning pages.

The story is told in alternating chapters and time periods -- Charlotte's story, Harriet's, and the questioning at the police station. There are LOTS of twists and turns. If you're looking for the "next Gone Girl", this might qualify. Not quite as gripping and certainly not as graphic, but several twists that will keep you guessing who is telling the truth and just what really happened. Definitely worth the time, and I'll bet you won't want to stop reading as you wonder what will happen next.

I am sorry for not reviewing fully but I don’t have the time to read this at the moment. I believe that it wouldn't benefit you as a publisher or your book if I only skimmed it and wrote a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for not fully reviewing!

Though I'm very confused what the tittle means to the book other than maybe charolette looking at her phone when she should have been watching the kids. All and all it was a decent story with a good pace. I knew Bryan was bad from the start but the rest was a surprise for me. The boy being found dead was kinda out of place but the rest of the story went really well and I enjoyed it alot.

A mother’s worst nightmare! A reader’s dream of great suspense and story! How to write without a revealing spoilers... the fact that to solve the case of the missing girls the two mothers had to unite I would have found hard to believe were it not for the skillful writing by the author, Heidi Perks. Heartbreaking story, I will be looking for more from this writer.

Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for this reader's copy. In exchange, I am providing an honest review.

There are many things to be terrified of and one of them is losing a child - your own or someone else's. Heidi Perks taps into that fear in this title.

Charlotte is finally watching her best friend's daughter. She's been offering Harriet childminding for the whole of Alice's 4 years. Harriet has always declined. But finally, Charlotte is taking Alice for a whole day so Harriet can take some bookkeeping course. Charlotte is taking her kids and Alice to the school fair and it's going to be great.

Fast forward a few hours. Alice is missing and Charlotte is the one who lost her. The fear has become reality. Days pass and there are no clues as to where Alice disappeared to or with whom. Harriet and her husband, Brian, refuse to speak to Charlotte and Charlotte has become the village pariah. The family liaison officer, Angela, is helping Brian and Harriet cope through the long days absent of Alice's presence and giving them information about the search for her. A mistake has been made, however, and the question is - what will be the cost of the mistake?

This was a fast read. Not only did it read quick but it kept me so engaged that I couldn't put it down until I had finished it. The undercurrent that Perks creates tints the visible story with tension and figuring out the source of the tension is a slow build which I think lends to how fast the story reads.

This may have been my first title by this author but it won't be my last.

This book is about a parent’s worst nightmare…your child goes missing. I like books that have different character points of view for each chapter. This is one that has you realizing that everything is not as it seems. There is a lot of gripping suspense and disturbing details. What was her one mistake? Do you find out by the time you turn the final page and close the cover to the book?

This is a fast-paced read that is well written. I would recommend it if you don’t mind your heart racing so fast you think it will explode out of your chest!

Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

Wow this is a babysitter's worst nightmare! Has this been done before? Yes! Is this a little predictable? Yes! But is still entertaining? Yes! I found it a little messy because the first half of this book and the second half felt like two different stories stitched together. But I did enjoy both halves. I would recommend this is you just wanted something to read quickly in a day or two.

I was really excited to dig into this book. I absolutely love thrillers and twisty reads so I was confident that I would enjoy Her One Mistake.

Now I'll admit that, though the book sucked me in right away, there were times when I considered putting it down. There were a few moments while reading when the story didn't hold my attention. I'm glad I fought through those moments however because I really enjoyed the second half of it. I will admit that the story line was pretty predictable and nothing came as a huge shock to me. It was pretty easy to figure out but still a good read.

I guess I'm a bit worn with thrillers that aren't thrilling. There's the usual group of secrets that are messing up lives. Children and families and where are the twists? Maybe I just over anticipated them. This one, however, we have a missing child. She just went +poof+. How do you live through losing your friend's four-year-old daughter? What a mess, and what a mistake. Now, how can this possibly end well at all?

My copy came from Net Galley. My thoughts and opinions are my own. This review is left of my own free volition.

I couldn't put this one down. Her One Mistake is a psychological thriller that jumps between the POV of the mother of a missing girl and the best friend who looked away for one second. The author did a nice job of revealing slowly, and even after I "figured it out" there was still a surprise or two left.

Thank you NetGalley and Gallery Books for the opportunity to read and give an honest review of this book.

Charlotte and Harriet are best friends and tell each other everything. Or do they? Charlotte takes Harriet’s daughter, Alice, and her own three children to the school fair. Alice mysteriously disappears. The community’s response is to treat Charlotte as though she were a criminal. As time goes on, we begin to see that Harriet’s husband appears to be ‘gaslighting’ her in an attempt to make her appear unreliable with memory problems. The not-so-perfect marriage of Harriet and Brian seems to contribute in some way to Alice’s disappearance, but how?

The plot is intriguing and you wonder what indeed happened to Alice.
The story is told from both Harriet and Charlotte’s point of view. Sometimes it would get confusing with the dialogue taking place ‘now, before, or afterwards’

One point in the story was not quite believable. Harriet would take 4 year old Alice to meet with and enjoy activities with Harriet’s father. (A person Brian believed to be dead.) Yet, the little girl never told her controlling father, Brian, any details about their various outings. She never even mentioned her grandfather. I have never met a 4 year old that could keep a secret or did not give information about their daily activities.

This was a good book and a wild, hard-to-put-down, ride. I highly recommend it.

It's a fun book for airplanes, beaches, summer reading, etc. It moves right along and it has a wonderful twist. It's perfect for a diversion, which is something we all need at times. I quite enjoyed it and would recommend it for that reason. It's not great literature but it doesn't ask to be considered great literature, if that makes sense.

Charlotte and Harriet, bound together forever by one sunny day when Harriet's child goes missing, and Charlotte is responsible. Twists and turns on every page and a surprise ending that you probably didn't see coming. Compelling plot, engaging characters make this a winner.
