Great story, thrilling plot that I could not put down. Well worth a read, and would recommend to others.

The British FrontLine is the second book in a series, and I did not read the first book. It seemed to stand alone well, though I would assume the first book fleshed out the hero's character a bit more. The hero in FrontLine is a little bit too "action hero" for my taste. I'd like to see him a bit more layered, perhaps with some recurring flaws that humanize him. If you like action thrill rides, interesting settings and situations, special forces, and weapons galore, I will be most happy to recommend you give Mr. Eyre's books a read!

This is another book where the reader needs to suspend disbelief to a significant degree and not worry too much about the trivial law enforcement mundanities that would get in the way of a latter day - and rather more violent - Saint (as in Leslie Charteris's Simon Templar, rather than any of the holy men of the past). However, those readers happy to relax and go with the flow may enjoy the rollicking adventure of the central action-hero character who sets about ridding Britain of a particularly nasty Russian Mafia gang, whilst delivering a violent revenge on the individuals in the gang who had caused such damage to his family. For sure it has more than its fair share of violent death and perhaps a shade too much detail in some episodes, but it's all in a kind of 'detached from reality' setting that allows the author to just about get away with it. It's not as well-written as Lee Child's Jack Reacher novels, but - if action thrillers with deadly violence where the bad guys definitely don't come out on top appeal to you - this could be up your street. Recommended.

Beware the pitfalls of serial reading but aside from that I thought this one motored along rather well. Most of the guns/ammo technical stuff was spot on and the writing will hold you tight especially during the sister rescue; but you will have to read it to get more from me. Enjoy

A fast moving and fun read. This is definitely for fans of Jack Reacher and the good guys always win mentality. Some situations require the reader to put common sense on hold and just enjoy the ride.

I usually gravitate towards military/ex-military MC's. I usually find those character very interesting the stories in their books so entertaining I can't put them down. This book was the second in the series, and I didn't not read the first one. I didn't feel completely lost but I did feel that I missed something, even a small thing, by not reading it first. It would have helped me connect to Patrick to have read the first part of his story, I think.
That alone may have affected my reading experience here.
