I have read the two previous novels in the Detective Josie Quinn series. But I am absolutely blown away by this latest edition. This novel focuses heavily on Josie who she is and what shaped the woman she is today. Her childhood makes for horrifying reading, it is the stuff of nightmares. The discovery of human remains at a local trailer park has a direct link to Josie’s past. It will come to shake the very foundations of her being.

In the opening scenes we are reunited with Harris Quinn (6 months old). He is the child born to Josie’s ex-husband and mistress Misty. Josie has found herself almost as best friend and support system for Misty and knowing their troubled history, it is quite touching to see.

Josie is also dealing with personal harassment, a series of craigslist adverts, have her the butt of a serious of malicious and bizarre phone calls. Is this a prank? Or something much more sinister?

Josie as Chief of Denton police attend the crime scene at Moss Green trailer park. A place she knows all to well from her own horrific childhood. Dr Feist is at the scene with the skeletal remains. He estimates the remains to be 16-19yrs of age and notes they are wearing 1980s attire. He also notes an unusual finding of hyperdontia (supernumerary teeth). Who is this girl? Can the police force track her down?

The present-day narrative has alternate chapters with Josie’s own childhood. We become aware her mother frequently abuses alcohol and drugs. She is vicious in her treatment of Josie and Josie’s only one place of sanctuary is her Gram’s house.

When the human remains are identified as Belinda Rose. This throws up more questions than answers. For that is the name and date of birth Josie’s estranged mother has been using, all of Josie’s life. So, who killed Belinda Rose? And why did Josie’s mother steal her identity?

The novel is fast-paced and intense. The chapters regarding Josie’s own childhood are raw and painful. The present-day mystery becomes more and more complex with every turn of the page. The novel builds and builds to one hell of an ending! 5*

Well, Noelle has got me hooked on another corker! Wow! I have to berate myself too, why have I not read anything by Lisa before! Seriously where have I been living!! This is going to be rectified quickly!

This is the third in a series and whilst it can be read on its own, I think it’s best to read in order. There were references to cases and people where the background of the previous books would have helped.  You can read this and it not affect the story too much, it is just like you have missed the beginning of a conversation with someone but got the gist of it.

Where do I start? The prologue had me sucked in, who was leading this book? What fire? Who will be taught a lesson? Hello! Then nothing, radio silence... until later...

The opening chapter has the police called to a scene where a body has been discovered by two boys in a trailer park where the Chief of police Josie grew up, and life as she knows it changes forever.

I thought this book was fab, it gripped me from the start as we are switched between present-day Josie and growing up with her abuser of a mother. Those chapters were heartbreaking, how one person could treat a child like that I will never know. Through the darkness, there were some touching moments from people outside the cocoon of Josie and her mother Belinda, to show there is good in people, not just evil and darkness, and to help guide Josie in life.

I had half guessed the twist in the story a few chapters before Josie, to us the reader it was made obvious to us.  We have to watch Josie as she figures things out but when she got to the same point as you, it was heartbreaking for her but wholesome in the same way. I say that because it is now a missing piece for Josie has been completed. I can not say any more in case it ruins the ride for someone else.

I have to say something about Noah! What an absolutely cute character. Love the admiration and love he has for Josie, he always has her back and he tries to be there for her. Again I want to visit the past to see how he was before this book and hope that it is built on in future books.

I have started to turn off on my kindle the page numbers and % of the book so I don’t sit there worrying how much or little I have left to read. With this book I had no idea I was near the end, I was thoroughly enjoying the read and then I got near the end. I mean oh man! Now I have to wait for god knows how long because this book was published on 19th July 2018! Not that I am moaning too much as I can read the first two. Aaahhhhhh I need the next one and I need it soon...no pressure there then for Lisa!

This was good, really good. It had all a good thriller should have: mystery, suspense and a lot of crazy. A page turner, with short chapters alternating between present and Josie's childhood. And what a horrible childhood it was. A psychopath mother, who did all to destroy what little happiness her child might have. a must read, I highly recommend.
I chose to read this book and all opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased. Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture!

This is the third book in the series featuring Detective Josie Quinn. I gave the other two books 5 stars and this book certainly deserved another 5 stars. In this third book we learn more about Josie’s past which makes very harrowing reading. Josie is investigating some bones found in woods where she grew up. There is a connection toJosie and her mother and we find out more about the abuse she had been subjected to from her drunk and drug addicted mother. As well as this murder investigation Josie is being targeted by someone and she thinks it is linked to a case she was working on.
This is another gripping book from Lisa Regan. It has tension, action, twists and turns and a fantastic character in Josie Quinn. Definitely recommend this series of books and I can’t wait for book number 4 in the series
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book

Detective Josie Quinn is back in her third novel, this can be read as a standalone but like all good police series it’s best to start at the beginning for full enjoyment and get the background of the characters.

This time poor Josie seems to be at the ragged end again, not necessarily to do with work but her childhood circumstances begin to rear their ugly heads.

The tension builds and we discover that Josie had a brutal mother but what in her past could possibly link to the case she is involved in today?

Kids playing in the woods find some human remains buried in the local trailer park .. dental records reveal a bit more than Josie would care to hear.

Her Mother’s Grave moves along at a steady pace, and I particularly appreciated getting to know the ‘real’ Josie. She is such a professional who has dealt with gritty crimes previously so as you get under her skin it becomes more admirable how she copes with her job.

As the team investigate the identification of the body other events are happening that should be considered harassment. Is someone out for revenge?

The slow burn of affection between Noah and his feelings for Josie are entertaining and a contrast.

All in all a good steady thriller that will appeal to all crime fans old and new.

Thanks to the author, publisher and netgalley for my copy which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Bloody hell! This third instalment in the Josie Quinn series is just …. WOW! I don’t even know where to begin.

When human bones are discovered behind the local trailer park, little does Josie know her past is about to catch up with her. Dental records confirm the remains belong to a young girl who was murdered thirty years ago. Her name was Belinda Rose. But wait a minute, Josie’s mother was Belinda Rose, wasn’t she? Josie hasn’t seen her mother in years but it looks like she now has no choice but to track her down.

If you’ve been following this series from the start, then you already know little bits and pieces about Josie’s relationship with her mother but this time, we’re digging a helluva lot deeper. What follows is an intensely heartbreaking background story with the most sick, twisted and insanely disturbing mother ever!

To say this book is incredibly gripping would be an understatement. I raced through this as if my own life depended on it. I never quite knew what would happen next and this intricately woven plot kept me guessing until the end. With superb pace throughout, twists and turns, an unpredictable and dangerous psycho, nail-biting tension and flashback chapters that will pull at your heartstrings, A Mother’s Grave has everything I could possibly want in a fantastic detective story.

This is without a doubt the best one in the series yet. It has left me rather speechless and a tad discombobulated. If you like your crime fiction series with a fabulous female detective, you have to read this series! I can’t wait for the next one and so look forward to seeing where Lisa Regan takes Josie and her team next!

Book 3 in the Josie Quinn series and the plot is rooted in Josie's past. It is a bit unbelievable but there is enough action and tension to make this a good read. There is some graphic description of the abuse Josie suffered as a child which makes uncomfortable reading. Thanks to Net Galley for my copy. reviews on Goodreads, Facebook and Amazon.

This is my first Lisa Regan book and I absolutely enjoyed it. There was everything to keep you hooked. The mystery and suspense, the crime-solving, the lunacy, the romance, the sheer cruelty of the situation - everything made this book a delight to read.

5 Best Yet Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is the third book in the detective Josie Quinn series and the best yet! Josie Quinn is being crowned my favorite female detective... Lisa Regan did a brilliant job with the character development of Josie... in the first book I liked her but I didn’t feel as though we really got to know her...in the second book we got to know her a little better, we got a little glimpse into her past, but we were still held at arms length... in this book WOW she was laid bare to us... we got multiple flashbacks of Josie from age 6 to 14 when she was abused almost to the point of being tortured by her mother... this part of the book was hard to read... it was very dark, very disturbing, yet very revealing and telling.... your heart broke for Josie and your respect grew for her....

This book starts out with 30 year old bones being discovered... when the identity of the body is revealed to be A young lady named Belinda Rose, Josie is confused... how can that be? That is her mother’s name and her mother was still alive.... so who is her mother really? And how is she connected to this body? Just as in the previous books in this series The layers of this mystery were peeled away at the perfect pace... leaving me frantically turning the pages to see what was going to happen next.... twist after twist that I did not see coming and an ending that surprised me and left me satisfied...

In my review for the second book in the series I asked Lisa Reagan to please let a little romance develop between Noah and Josie... and guess what? She listen to me!😂 I like the direction their relationship is headed in and I hope Noah can help Josie heal her heart... I cannot wait for the next book in this series... and I will let you in on a little something cool... Lisa Regan commented on my blog and the next book will reveal some of Gretchen’s secrets and it’s out in December!

In case you couldn’t figure it out from my gushing review I strongly encourage you to pick this book up and if you have the time binge the entire series over the weekend!

*** many thanks to Bookouture for my copy of this fabulous book ***

OMG OMG OMG OMG! Just when I thought Lisa Regan couldn't get any better, she goes and releases this bad boy! What a FANTASTIC book! I am a huge fan of Lisa Regan's 'Josie Quinn' series, but I have to say that Regan has pulled all of the stops out with this one - her best book yet in my opinion!

I actually feel quite sorry for Detective Josie Quinn, she doesn't exactly have it easy does she? Instead of being in the firing line indirectly due to other cases, this time round Josie Quinn is slap bang in the firing line and whoever has put her there isn't going to cut her any slack until they say so. But why is Josie Quinn directly in the firing line this time? Who has she annoyed that much, that they feel the need to make her life a living hell? With so many questions filling Josie Quinn's mind at record speed, she finds herself being supported by her team when things get a little bit, how do I put this, too close for comfort.

I've already said it once, but I'm saying it again - THIS BOOK IS F'BRILLIANT!!!!! From the very beginning, Lisa Regan lit the match on the suspense, upping the ante with every new chapter. 'Her Mother's Grave' messed with my head and hung me out to dry - I honestly could not have wished for anything better as this book ticked every single box of mine, and then some.

Not only did I think the suspense and grit was bang on, I thought that the author's cleverly crafted storyline was written incredibly well. Regan seemed to find the perfect balance between her rollercoaster storyline, and her colourful and larger than life characters. There wasn't a moment where I thought one was overpowering the other, because everything just....worked.

As for the pace....wow, just wow! I was so hooked on the book that even though the pace was pretty steady, I couldn't sit still as my legs just wouldn't stop jiggling! It was as though I was close to running into the storyline myself, just to find out the truth! Yes, I realise that I couldn't have actually done that, but when you're that invested in a storyline, you can't help but feel as though the situations are playing out right in front of you. Well, I do anyway!

I cannot recommend this book enough. For me, everything was spot on - I absolutely loved every single thing about 'Her Mother's Grave' and I am in awe at just how brilliant this book is. You really won't be disappointed!

For the third instalment in the Detective Josie Quinn series, Lisa Regan has created Her Mother’s Grave, an astounding page turner in which I could almost inhale the sense of impeding doom surrounding Josie. Love, love, loved it.

Detective Josie Quinn comes face to face with her past, the discovery of human remains in a shallow grave in the woods close to where Josie use to stay as a child, ultimately slamming the past back to the present and the signs point to Josie’s mother. Now is the time that Josie has to relive the past and try to comprehend what happened.

What is the connection between Belinda Rose the murder victim and Josie’s mother, Josie walks a thin line following the investigation, trying to trace her mother, looking for answers, trying to uncover what happened to Belinda Rose and who wants her to stay away, leave well alone.

I was horrified to discover about Josie’s past but it comes at a point where we needed to find out more about Josie, to understand her, such depravity encircled through the years it was a wonder that Josie became such a strong, effectual woman, but the investigation into her past has left me with know doubt that she could cope with anything.

Her Mother’s Grave is written with a certainty that Lisa grabbed my attention, the narrative was smooth, easy, not over developed but with a comparative which gelled seamlessly between past and present.

Her Mother’s Grave is one hell of a belter to read, dare you to tear your eyes away from the pages, its full on, intense and abhorrent in sections but a worthy 5 stars, and the next in the series hopefully wont be too long in coming.

My thanks go to Bookouture, Lisa Regan and Noelle Holten for the advanced readers copy of Her Mother’s Grave in exchange for my unbiased and honest review. It’s been a pleasure to be part of the Blog Tour today, invited by Noelle Holten.

Chief of Police Josie Quinn is called to the case of a body found in the woods by two boys. Imagine her shock when she discovers the remains belonged to a teen girl named Belinda Rose. Belinda Rose is her mother's name. No small coincidence, for sure. In short order, Josie's mother becomes the prime suspect in the decades old murder. Meanwhile, Josie is being harassed, seemingly by someone who is extremely tech-savvy, and, at the very least, ruthless. Her team consists of Noah Fraley and Gretchen Palmer. They are dedicated to the case at hand, and to Josie herself.

The story vacillates between current events and Josie's young past as a tragically abused child. The accounts were quite chilling each time they came up. This is a past that Josie has spent years trying to bury, now it is bringing up all sorts of horrifying memories. Yet she must, at the very least, oversee the search for her mother. Meanwhile, it appears that all she holds dear just might be taken away from her. For her safety, Josie accepts Noah's offer to stay with him.

While reading this utterly captivating story, things began to click into place for me as to the harassment and regarding the murder. Well, at least I thought they did. I felt as if I was on Josie's team while vying for clues. What an exciting story! I almost couldn't put this book down. It kept me up deep into the night and woke me up first thing in the morning. I wish I had read the first two books in this series, as I would have gotten to know Josie a bit better, but coming in with this book told me all about Josie and the incredibly hard childhood she led. She is one tough cookie and is now one of my favorite female detectives. To achieve her levels of success after going through what she did makes her a true heroine.

Her Mother's Grave never took a break as the pacing was exceptional, with a hair-splitting conclusion causing me to hold my breath. And, despite such an incredibly biting conclusion, the story left me with hope and has me fervently excited about the next in this stunning series. I checked the publication schedule, and, if things run as they have, I shouldn't have but a few months' wait for the next book. How exciting! I will be reading the first two books in the series in very short order. Lisa Regan, you have a new fan.

Many thanks to Bookoture and to NetGalley for this ARC to review in exchange for my honest opinion.

I can not believe that in the 8 months that I have ‘known’ Lisa we are already on her third book! You are now firmly etched onto my go to author list and I can’t recommend your books enough to my friends, Thank you for this amazing series and I hope there will be many more to come!

So in true Nicola form let’s start me review with my #ReadTweets ***see blog for the tweet section***

As you can see a mix of emotions, this book got me right away with it’s cover and title. Having read the two previous books I knew all the characters backgrounds so when I started this one I knew the emotions were going to be running high!

I’m not sure how much more devisation this little town (or Joise for the matter) can possible take!

I enjoy how Lisa intertwines all her stories together, making you love these characters and hoping for their happily ever after.

As always, this story kept me turning those pages, wanting and needing to know what the team will face next, if my guesses would come true (and they did a few times). Lisa loves her details and I like how she sets the scene for you as the book progresses.

This book was emotional, fast paced, detailed and totally gripping! I have high hopes for the next instalment of Joise Quinn….. and please no more heartache (I have my fingers crossed)

Perfect edition to the series and a big fat juicy 5 golden apples from me!!

I had not read any other work by this author and this is part of a series, so I was concerned I would feel like I was missing some of the backstory and not enjoy the book as much. Those fears were unfounded, as this book was extremely well written and could have been a standalone book. The suspense built at a rapid pace, which kept me reading long past when I had to go to bed!

This is the third book in the Detective Josie Quinn series. In Her Mother's Grave we learn of Josies childhood at the hands of her abusive mother. The story flows easily and I found myself liking Josie more than in the previous books. It's a good read but not as thrilling or unputdownable as other books in this genre but still worth a look.

thoroughly enjoyed this book. the chapters flit from the present day and the investigation of the crime to josie’s traumatic childhood. a very well written american police procedural book well worth a read.

many thanks to netgalley and the publishers for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Okay, I'll be honest: I got a little confused in this one. No fault of the author, just me having to take a step back and remind myself who was who when and where. And when you read it, you might have the same problem. But dang this was a good story! And what fun twists! I felt like it tied up several loose ends and put Josie on a good path for the future. I can't wait to see where she goes from here.

Spell binding in its momentum to the point I read it in one day. The author has woven a plot with many characters—each having his/her specific voice—to weave a thriller that satisfies with action, character development and psychology of motivation. Not cliche in any way.

This is a brilliant book and is the best in the series so far.
In this book we find out about Josie’s childhood and the abuse she was subjected to from her mother.
The story is told in flashbacks and it’s really heartwrenching to hear it from her perspective.
A body is found in the woods near where Josie used to live and it seems there are links to her mother.
This is a huge shock for Josie as she thought she’d put all that behind her.
As well as a murder investigation, Josie is being targeted by an unknown person. This starts off as phone pranks but gets more serious each time until she has no alternative but to take Noah up on his offer, and stay with him.
This is a gripping read and the pace is perfect as more and more clues are revealed and it all leads to a breathtaking ending.
Josie is really put through the mill in this book and I think she will come out of it stronger.
I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.
