After finishing and really enjoying Colliding Hearts I just could not wait to read this one and what another great read it was. While it can be read on its own they are a lot better read in order this is Nick and Carina's story I liked both these characters and found myself pulled right into the book it was really well written and held my interest all the way through. A must read for all paranormal fans.

Hidden Hearts by Eva Chase is book two in the Alpha Project Psychic Romance Series.
I did not read the first book, but Ms. Chase gave the perfect amount of background detail that I was not lost or bored with too many details.
This book is short, sweet, and ends with a "HEA" I put HEA in quotes because the series is held together by a central threat from an sinister organization that the Keane family has to face. The series follows the stories of the Keane boys and their heroine. So this book followed Nick Keane and Carina, their personal relationship/story ended with a HEA but the threat of the Alpha Project continues with Book 3.
I initially did not like Nick or Carina, I'm not sure what bugged me but I couldn't see either characters being realistic. That is, until the story actually got going. By the end of the book, I loved Nick and Carina together.
Hidden Hearts jumped right into a tense situation but kind of fizzled out for the first 30% of the book. After the 30% mark, the story progresses really fast. Its a great book when you just want a quick distraction. I am curious to see what happens and will be keeping an eye out for book 3.

Hidden Hearts, An Alpha Project Psychic Romance,  Eva Chase

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre: Romance, Sci-fi and fantasy

I really liked the sound of this and saw that if I went to Eva's website I could get the prequel novella Burning Hearts, free. Its also on amazon. That gave me an insight into alpha Project and Nicks family. Stupidly I missed there was another book before this one, but I was still able to follow this story easily and have borrowed the first book via KU.
Its a fabulous story, scary in that its all too believable, that some wealthy organisation is trapping and experimenting on those with psychic talents. The prequel sets pout the parents story and escape and this series seems to be about the brothers meeting people for themselves. Poor Nick has the misfortune to get feelings for Carina, who's working for AP, using her talents to help track down Nicks family, having been told lies about how dangerous and murderous they are.
I really enjoyed the story, but what stops it being five stars is its brevity, just under 200 pages. That means even though I felt the plots and characters were excellent there wasn't space to fully develop them, let the dangers and suspense really play out and for me that was a real shame. Other love shorter books, and this will be what makes it a five star for them. Horses for courses and all that...
Even though the story was short for me I still want to continue with what is going to be an excellent series, and as I said I've now borrowed book one so can catch up with whats gone before.
Stars: Four, a really interesting series, just wish it was a bit ;longer and I could see characters and plots in more depth.

Thanks to the publisher for an ARC to read and give my honest opinion. The cover was nice, but the blurb caught my attention.

Nick Keanes talent is to touch an object and find who it belongs to. His parents were a lab experiment that developed special abilities that are passed on to the kids. Twenty something years ago they escaped and have been on the run ever since.
Carina Jones is part of the Alpha Group that has been looking for the Keanes. She was told they had a hand in her parents death and she's been set on finding them and making them pay.

This was the second book in the series, and I did not read the first one. The book did well enough on its own, in my opinion. I thought that both characters were unique, and loved their romance. It's fun when both characters have great personalities and can have a heart felt connection. Four fun stars of entertainment!

A big thank you to NetGalley and Inkspark Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is the second in a series, but reads okay as a stand alone. This is Nick and Carina's story. Carina thinks Nick is a bad guy. Reminiscent of Alias. The organization she works for/with? Is hunting hiim with her help. Guess what happens?? Lol it's all about trust. Sort of predictable but still enjoyable. I gave it a 3.5. I think paranormal Romance readers will enjoy.

Nick never expected a beloved teddy bear to be the reason he may be caught. But when he had picked it up he had felt the fierce affection this toy had from its owner. But Nick hadn’t known when he delivered the toy to the home of its owner at night that the child's mom was some sort of social media personality and she put all over social media how grateful she was the toy’s return. The people looking for Nick and his family - Alpha Project had probably noticed the media fury. Thirty years ago Nicks parents had escaped from the underground lab that experimented on people like Nick with psychic talents and used the name Project Alpha. The Alpha Project scientists had kept his parents and people like them prisoners in a cell to be tormented with their research The Alpha Project liked to work under the cover of night as much as Nick did. If the Alpha Project spotted Nick there wasn’t a lot of chance they would connect Nick to the psychic escapees they had spent the last thirty years hunting down. Nick was lucky he had been tipped off about the Alpha Projects interest in Nick’s activities. Dushane had warned Nick that a shady looking guy had came in asking if anyone had heard of a guy who was good at finding things. Dushane advised Nick to stay of his toes as there was something going on. Nick was watching the house where the child lived that owned the teddy bear. A woman in black had stopped there and looked like she had gone into a trance. Carina was the woman and she was using her talents to back in the past and try to see who Nick was. Carina couldn’t tell much about Nick, she knew he was a guy of average height and white. She already knew that as she had watched him once before. Carina felt Nick was a menace and they needed to bring him in and the rest of his family. Nick decides to find out what he can with some casual touches and he finds the woman is apparently willingly working for the Alpha Project. He also knows she has her own power. Carina was sickened the others like her would use said powers to cause death and destruction of of others and is determined to get the Keene family and bring them into custody But Nick and Carina start to develop feelings they have to learn to trust each other if they want to save others like themselves.
I truly enjoyed this book. I liked the plot. I also thought this was well written. It drags a little for me at times. There were: twists, turns, suspense, action, drama, sexy times, paranormal talents, Alpha Project, and so much more. This was a quick and interesting read. I loved how Nick used his talents to help others even a child and his lost beloved teddy bear. I like Nick and Carina together. I advise you to read the books in this series in order for a smooth reading. I didn’t want to put this down as I wanted to see what was going to happen next. I enjoyed the characters of this book and the twists and turns and I recommend this book. I wish I could rate this 4.5.

I honestly enjoyed this read. To begin with, as a woman of colour, I love books that feature racially diverse main characters. In this case the romantic MCs were a biracial couple who I felt were a smidgen more than just a two-dimensional, tonal treatment the author chose as her way of adding some flare to a flat facade. Granted, this is in no way a deep read, but the MCs had a sweetness about their chemistry which I found endearing.. Along with the typical, chintzy, super-power plot that includes the victims of manipulation, disaster and deception pitted against one another, the read had good pace and was a simple balance of sexy and sweet. Nothing life changing, but satisfying enough if you want a non challenging, contemporary-meets-diluted-X-Men-genome bit of fluff with which to while away your time.
