Victoria Marcos has written many books in the "My Favorite Animal" series, and is now writing "My Favorite Pet" series. These books follow a similar make up. There are some great facts and wonderful photographs of Hamsters to illustrate the information. The hamsters are adorable and children will love looking at them. The reader/listener will learn about having hamsters as pets, including how they eat, live and play. There are also questions in the "Do you Remember" section to review and reinforce what was read. This is a fun series for very young readers, and the layout is interesting, with questions throughout for readers to discuss with adults. A good non-fiction book for young readers and listeners to learn about hamsters. This would make a nice addition to class and school libraries. I can see these books being good for families thinking about getting a pet. The publisher, Xist Publishing, generously provided me with a copy of this book to read. The rating, ideas and opinions are my own.

My kids and I enjoyed this informative little read about hamsters and both learned many new facts! The pictures are great and they found it to be very interesting!

Growing up, I'd read books and watch shows and movies where American kids had pet hamsters, and they were like mythical creatures to me. Here, hamsters (and other similar animals) have been made illegal in order to protect our unique wildlife (we do live on the world's biggest island!).

The My Favorite Pet series is clearly for US children - apart from anything else the books are in American English with American spelling.

That said, I think this is a fun series for very young readers, and the layout is interesting, with questions throughout for readers to discuss with adults. I can see these books being good for families thinking about getting a pet.

Naturally, this would work much better as a paperback than the greyish pages I saw on my Kindle screen.

In this darling edition of the My Favorite Pet series, children learn about having hamsters as pets, including how they eat, live and play.
For example, they learn that hamsters keep their teeth from growing too long by eating all day, and that they store food in their cheeks to eat later. Adorable photos and fun quizzes keep young readers entertained. 5/5

Thanks to the author, Xist Publishing and NetGalley and for the review copy. Opinions are mine.

I admit it. I requested this book because I was badly in need of some over-the-top, extreme cuteness. And this book delivered! The pictures were crisp and clear and OMG THE HAMSTER TOES!!!

I don't have a foot fetish or anything, but there is just something about the toes of small creatures that I find so "SQUEE" adorable!

This would be a good book for a young child who is an animal lover, especially if they have recently obtained a hamster as a family pet. It doesn't go into the specifics of caring for said hamster, but it does provide some simple facts about hamsters, such as where they live, what they eat and how they like to stuff extra food into their cheeks.

5, adorable toes, stars!

My thanks to NetGalley and Xist Publishing for an eARC copy of this book to read and review.

An early primer on what’s probably the world’s cutest rodent, with facts told in photos with captions.
The first quiz was a little too simple, even for a three-year-old.
Hamster balls are to hamster wheels what yoga balls are to exercise bikes.
There’s a glossary at the end which shows just how young the audience for this book is, but it’s fun enough, and there might be facts even adults don’t know.

Engaging, colorful photographs of hamsters in cages, in a big green ball, and at play. A short, introductory book for Pre-K or first grade youngsters about hamsters—where they live, what and how they eat and store food, and their need for exercise. Several simple quiz qustions appear throughout the text with answers in the back along with a glossary. If you are considering getting a pet hamster for your child, this will be a helpful resource.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

Nothing new or special, a very simplistic, but oh so adorable non-fiction book about hamsters. I wasn't planning on reviewing it immediately, but since the person I made an appointment with online hasn't showed (been over an hour), I will write one.

I knew not to have too high of expectations. This may sound rude, but I don't mean it like that. I just could see by the cover that this would be a simple, easy book. Nothing too deep on hamsters, just some very basic stuff. And I was right. But still I couldn't resist trying this one out, I adore hamsters, have one of myself (a very cute little bundle of love), and I just love books about them (especially when these have giant pictures of cute hamsters doing cute stuff).

I had a bit of a laugh at the first sentence, sorry, but it just sounds a bit funny: "Hamsters live in cages in their owner's house." Gee, where else would such a tiny critter live as a pet? In the garden? On the roof? Outside of a cage? :P

There are also questions, do you remember?. I did like them, but I was kind of wondering who picked the photographs for that one. Why put a hamster eating at the question of where they live, or a hamster in a (bad) wheel for the question what hamsters eat.

So yeah, this book is very very simple. But still I think it is a fun book for those first time readers who are curious about hamsters. And of course it is a good book for us hamster lovers who just need more cute hamsters in our life, this book features some super adorable pictures that made me want to reach out and hug those cuties.
