We are a military family- my son really enjoys learning about military vehicles and equipment. This book taught him alot of new information about military equipment. I appreciate that the photographs show the items for the kids to see what they realistically look like. He has seen gas masks at museums, but seeing a person wearing the gas mask in the photo for the book was very new to him. That visual has stuck with him and he understands the ways the equipment helps keep our military safe, a little better now. I homeschool and would suggest this book for other families studying military in their homes.

This is a very informative little book on various weapons and items that have revolutionized war, even including more historic equipment like cannons, which played a great role earlier in history. My kids thought it was really interesting and also enjoyed the pictures!

As always in this series, rather than drawings, it’s photographs with captions.
Starts off with throwing knives, which I’m sure every kid will now want. In general, it’s a bit strange to be teaching kids about all the different ways someone can be killed.
More than once a chapter started with “____ changed warfare,” enough times for me to think it was purposeful, though it did make it boring.

Clear, concise explanations of all types of military equipment: bombs, planes, radios, jeeps, guns, knives, submarines, helicopters, canons, etc. Color photographs throughout. A simple, helpful tool to educate young children about the the resources of warfare that can protect and destroy.
