Thank you to Netgalley, Quarto Publishing Group, and Gemma Correll for providing an electronic copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Because I love Gemma Corell, I was thrilled to read a copy of this book. Corell's drawings are so unique, it's a gift that she offers instructions on copying her style!

Doodled Dogs includes four sections: 1) All About Dogs, which includes a ton of Correll's illustrations of dogs of various breeds as well as a few activity pages and some funny sections such as "20 Signs You're a Dog Person" and "What's in a Name," 2) Doodled Dogs Step by Step, 3) It's a Dog's World, which demonstrates ways to enhance dog doodles, and 4) Dog Doodle Templates.

The step-by-step instructions are incredibly clear and I had so much fun drawing the different dogs. The dog doodle templates section provides "plain" drawings to decorate with zentangle-like doodles, hats, accessories, and clothing. One section also includes some hilarious Correll classics that pair cats and dogs. Finally, the book includes a bonus project--instructions on how to make a coffee mug with a dog doodle.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes Gemma Corell or who loves dogs and wants to learn how to create cute drawings.

I am a fan of Correll's doodling books, but this one seems to be made up of a lot of fillers. Nevertheless, it is a cute book that will teach amateur doodlers to draw a wide variety of breeds.

Doodled Dogs: Dozens of clever doodling exercises & ideas for dog people by Gemma Correll is a book I requested from NetGalley and the review is voluntary. This is an adorable and fun book to read for all the silly cartoons and drawings. It gets even better as the author tries to teach cartoon drawing to me! Mine look like that anyway! It is a load of fun! Lots of fun in the book! I plan to buy it for my early adolescent grand daughters, they will love it! It also gives some fun facts about dogs!

Great fun and very easy. As with the cat version of this little book I have used it to design a little motif for all my dog loving friend which I’ll use to illustrate my cards and emails. It’s going to be fun putting all my new characters into different situations.

Ok, now you're in for some fun. This is one of the cutest books I've reviewed in a while.

If you have a boring commute on transit, have a few minutes a day to play with a pencil or markers, or otherwise need a boost - or just a diversion - between calls and emails - GET THE BOOK. I laughed my way through it.

Fun instructions, great doodles, and most of all, space to unleash your creativity. What are you waiting for?

Gemma Correll's dog doodles are some of the best out there! She manages to create such strong expressions while still using such a simple style. This book is funny, and even teaches you how to draw the dogs yourself! The instructions are easy enough that anyone could follow them. The perfect gift for any dog-lover!

This sweet book is the companion piece to DOODLED CATS by social media star Gemma Correll. It is just as winsome and fun and will show you how to sketch your favorite doggy with style and grace. 5/5!

Thanks to the author, Quarto Publishing Group - Walter Foster, and NetGalley for the review copy, in exchange for my honest opinions.

I’ve had dogs and cats both so I got both versions of this book. Dogs have always been trickier for me. I’m in no way a serious artist, but I do like to doodle and for some reason, cats were much easier for me. This definitely helped me to quickly crank out a few little doggie doodles. Not perfect but identifyable, which I consider a win.

Like the cat book the first part is not at all doodle related, instead it’s silly things like dog facts and lists about how to know you’re a dog lover. Cute but not the star of teh show. Like the cat book, the end sections of the book are doodles to complete and completed doodles. The section of doodles where the cats meet dogs is identical in both books. The project (doodling on a coffee mug) are the same just one is a cat one is a dog - but the bodies and text are identical. So if you want both books, some of it will feel like filler and some will simply be repeated.

That said, the actual part of the book focussed on doodling is excellent.

These books by Gemma Correll never ceases to bring a smile to my face. This one is about dogs and I did enjoy it very much. Again an ideal book for ideas on greeting cards and children art. I really enjoyed the little pug that made an entry in many of the drawings - and I love the variety of different dogs in different ways.
A nice happy book

What a charming and whimsical book! My five-year-old son loves drawing, so I’ve taken to doodling along with him. One of his favorite things to draw is our family, complete with our dog, so I thought this would be the perfect book to try out with him.

The book is divided into four parts. The first part is full of quirky things like lists (including signs you’re a dog person – “Your pockets are full of poop pick-up bags”), dog facts, and a dog alphabet. It also has several pages of example dogs and dog faces, demonstrating different characteristics and emotions. The meat of the book is the 30-some pages in part 2 where you learn how to draw several species of dogs step by step (French bulldog, dachshund, bichon frise, greyhound, collie, and poodle). Part 3 experiments with hats, patterns (a tie-dye dog?), a series of anthropomorphic dogs (including Lucky the Lab Technician), dogs in costumes, dog houses, and dog toys. Part 4 is a series of templates of already drawn dogs for you to doodle on.

It’s super cute, and suitable for children as well as adults. My five-year-old got a kick out of drawing dogs with hats, and loved looking at all the various dog doodles. If you’re looking for lots of detailed step-by-step guides, I think you’d be disappointed. Instead, it kickstarted our imaginations (astronaut dog! alien dog!) and provided a fun afternoon full of giggles and doodles. I think this would make a super cute gift for any fan of dogs and drawing!

I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Doodled Dogs is a fun and quirky art guide by Gemma Correl. It is pretty much as the title indicates; a book on dog doodles. It has helpful tips, fun prompts, and funny comics. It’s a fast and fun read, with lots of projects included.
Some of the projects inside are one where the reader must complete the doodle themselves, or a quirky prompt or thought. They seem silly at first, but they do a great job of getting the reader to relax and have fun, and isn’t that the point of doodling?
The book also includes lots of images and comics by the author herself, which were a lot of fun. In some ways these were my favorite parts, and I found myself wishing at times that more of these had been included. They were so cute and fun!
If you’re a dog lover looking for a fun and relaxing art guide, then this is absolutely the book for you. You probably could enjoy this even if you didn’t love dogs…but loving dogs would certainly be a bonus in this case.

It was definitely cute book, but not what I expected. Since it is called Doodled Dogs I assumed it will mostly focus on ways to doodle dogs, but there wasn't much of that. Yes, there were many examples of dogs and their emotions, couple of different breeds and sizes, but not many how to parts. Only one chapter was step by step manual. But even though it wasn't what I wanted it was still cute, and definitely for dog lovers, with couple of funny parts about them. All in all, if you like dogs you will enjoy it, but if you come to learn how to doddle, there is not enough of that in my opinion.

A very sweet and lovely little book. Featuring a great selection of doodled doggy’s , it teaches you how to draw them, gives you the space to add faces and accessories plus the added bonus of teaching you how to make a mug at the end of the book.

Doodled Dogs is the latest doodling book by writer and illustrator Gemma Correll, author of Doodling for Dog People, Doodling for Bookworms, and The Feminist Activity Book. It has a section in the front with some facts about dogs and fun stuff about dog lovers. Then it's on to examples of drawings of different dog breeds and different doggy expressions.

There are step-by-step instructions on how to draw a few breeds, such as a French bulldog, dachshund and poodle, as well as suggestions for accessories like hats and Halloween costumes. There are also some doodle templates, with suggestions for what to add (outfits, balls, bones etc.), and how to draw kennels. In the back, there are also instructions on how to make a coffee mug decorated with one of your dogs.

Doodled Dogs might be a bit intimidating for someone who is convinced they really can't draw and might need to start with something simpler to build their confidence up first, but once you get going it's a lot of fun. It would be a great gift for someone who likes to doodle and loves dogs.

I am not an artist but I am an invenerate doodler during my work day. Cordell has nailed the distinction between my doodles and ones that actually look like dogs. I could tell she was a pug owner and her Pug doodles are spot on. Very cheerful and instructive, my dogs now look like dogs! Fun for anyone with a pen in their hand.

This lovely (and slightly cheeky) doodling guide is full of interesting information and cute pictures of dogs and dog faces. It will help you doodle better, or more cute, dogs, and find your own perfect doodled dog version. It is also a journal for fun facts about yourself and your dog, e.g. "A Day in the Life" of your dog.

Doodle prompts are supposed to help you get your imagination and creativity working. Whereas the step-by-step guide is there to help you try out new shapes - dog breeds, that is.

Really enjoyed this one. My favorite part was learning how to draw a dapper dachshund. Thanks for the review copy.

Yet another fun book from this author! This would be a great gift to a dog lover you know! I love how she has drawn simple pictures of dogs, yet every breed is easily recognized. The author has brought out each dogs personality and it was a joy to look through these pictures and get my own creative juices flowing.
I would definitely buy this book!
