Although I give much credit to Alice Kuipers for imagination and creativity, this isn’t one of my favorite books, only because I felt it moved a little bit slowly and bogged down in places. I did, however, love the characters and Ms. Kuipers’ ability to really bring them to life with her detailed descriptions. I also learned about music from this book and I appreciate the insight and knowledge of music and songwriting that Lark brought to the story. Great twists and turns and concepts – I just wish some of the dialogue was less repetitive and moved more quickly.

I couldn't get into it. Too many cliches and unoriginal characters. I don't think it was worth the time it would take to finish it and write a review.

Although I found the plot interesting, the pacing of this book was quite slow for me. I didn't always feel 100% connected to the characters, and that kind of lessened my enjoyment of the piece of writing. I found the ending of the book was fantastically written and fast-paced, and I wish the whole book was the like that. 3 stars.

Picking up this book, I was pretty excited: the blurb seemed great, and even though most ratings weren't that positive, I was confident I would enjoy my read.
I wouldn't say that I didn't enjoy it, because there were parts which I found really good, but the whole book was rather confusing for me.

But there was something I did hate: the characters. I couldn't stand Lark (in both versions), and even though I admired her songwriting skills, I didn't like her songs (well, I guess I'd have to actually listen to then to have an idea, but the lyrics seemed off); Alec seemed sweet but quickly became a toxic person to Lark (manipulative, and isolated her). I also had some trouble with the dilemma which Lark is confronted to at the very beginning of the book: save the girl she has babysitted or the boy she barely knows but might become something me. I mean, if I were here, the choice would have been quite easy to make.

This idea of parallel lives seemed great when I read about it in the blurb, but when it came to the novel itself... I found the whole thing really confusing and blurry, and even in the end, when things start to make sense for the both versions of Lark... well, let's say they didn't make sense to me. I was completely lost.

I was bored during a good half of the book. Nothing much happened, and with the characters getting on my nerves it wasn't easy either.

As I already said, there were parts that I actually enjoyed, otherwise I would have given a lower rating, but it's definitely not a book I would highly recommend.

I thought the story line was incredibly unique. Very well written, likable characters and perfectly paced timeline.

SOrry to say, but it was terribly boring..
Not able to read more than 2 chapters...
I could have suffered the boring part, but even the writing was not that good.. the characters were paper...

The premise of Me and Me was a good one, but it was hard to follow the story.I would have liked to see certain aspects of the story better flushed out.The blurb on the back seemed interesting enough, but I quickly lost interest.

I wanted to give up. I really did but I didn't because I was very curious to discover the end. I wanted to understand what was happening. The pace of the story allows us to gradually be intrigued. In consequence, I have to admit it's quite strange to be bored and at the same time, to not be able to put down the book but well, this is what happened for me.

Alice Kuipers is quickly becoming a favorite author of mine.

Lark is having a memorable 17th birthday. She is sad that her mother is not alive to celebrate with her. But life can change in an instant! She goes with Alec in a canoe, and in a flash she has to make a life-saving decision!

Annabelle, a little girl Lark babysits, is drowing, and Alec is drowning also, after hitting his head jumping in to save the little girl. Lark is closest and it seems like a no-brainer on who to save, but she hesitates, waffling from Alec to Annabelle. Lark decides and the story goes on with life, after the choice has been made.

I wont say who she chose, but I will say we get glimpses of life after she saves one or the other.

I really enjoyed the big twist and the back and forth chapters. It kept me guessing where the story was going.

An interesting concept is introduced (no spoiler here, sad to say but u have to read the book to find out!) in this book and I eagerly turned kindle "Pages" to find out how the book ended.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will be getting her backlist as soon as I can afford to. I would recommend this book to teens and adults as well, since it is fast-paced and keeps one reading until the end.

Imagine your world flipped upside down when two very different people you care about are both in peril. In a split second you can only save one of them...which do you choose. This is the scenario our main character, Lark, finds herself in. When a child is facedown in the water and her potential love interest hits his head and begins to drown, Lark must decide who to save. When she makes the decision, her world splits in two and she's unable to decipher which is reality.

This is a very fast paced and short book. The writing style isn't complicated and it's fairly easy to follow once you realize how the narrative changes. I really enjoyed the premise of the story, as I've often thought about the possibility of parallel lives. Every decision we make, there's another version of ourselves making a very different decision. How life plays out is dependent upon the choice made. Of course, these are silly fantasies/musings of someone who reads too much a lot.

My issue with the story, and what knocks a couple stars off for me, is the fact that Lark even considers saving a teenage boy over a little, helpless child. Instinct is almost always to save a child. Having been in a situation where my 5 year old daughter and I almost drowned...I can honestly say that the three other adults ALL dove in to save my child. I wouldn't have had it any other way, my point is: the plot is slightly unbelievable.

That said, it's still a touching story that might make you look at your decision making a tad differently.

I loved this book. Older Adults could easily read this. It’s not just for teens I loved the twists and turns.

I loved this! I was surprised it was under the teen category, adults could easily read this and enjoy. A good suspense novel.

I received a copy of this for a fair and honest review.  In my opinion this was not much of a choice. There is another teenager and a child involved. Most would go for the child that just seems to be the way most of us are wired. I know she struggles with her choices and sees what would happen if she picked one of the two choices is an interesting idea, but did not meet what it could have been.

Thank you to Kids Can Press for the arc of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Unfortunately I didn’t like this book, I found the whole jumping from one “what if” to the other very confusing, it kind of spoiled the book for me.

This book was really interesting but also a little confusing. Lark is on a date with a new guy and a terrible accident happens where she has to a make a choice in a split second. The choice affects her life and the chapters go back and forth between two different scenarios dependent on what her choice was and whose life she saved. I liked Lark as she was a strong character and very introspective but I guess I didnt feel like I knew her enough, or her boyfriend Alec who needed more depth. Lark begins to think that she she is living in one life and she has a parallel existence and another life where she made a different choice. It is very interesting in theory but confusing to read about in terms of this book. I liked the epilogue though defintely. I do like this author and I will read something else by her soon. Thanks for the ARC, NG!

I received this book from netgalley in exchange for my honest review. I really liked this story. It explores two different outcomes of one situation. It really makes you think about what you would do if you were in that situation, I’m really glad I had the opportunity to read this,

Believe the reviews... this one is creepy, don't want to spoil but how can you root for these kids? I don't know what this book was trying to accomplish as it is neither entertaining or enlightening

Lark must choose between saving the life of a little girl or saving her boyfriend, both in danger of drowning. She believes she lives parallel lives. In one she saves Annabelle and Alec lies in a coma, in the second, the opposite occurs.

My biggest issue with ME AND ME is I never bought into the scenario Lark had a choice. My only option would be save the child before the (almost) adult. Most female humans and animals (and probably also many males) are biologically predisposed to protect our young, whether they’re ours or not. If I can’t buy into the dilemma, I can’t buy into the book. A better scenario would be does Lark save her younger sibling or the girl she babysits.

I also had difficulty with Lark and Alec as a couple. He seemed controlling and he isolated her, making whom to save even less a dilemma.

I’m sorry to give ME AND ME a negative review, but I do not recommend.

The premise of Me and Me was a good one, but it was hard to follow the story. On one hand I liked Lark and Alec, but on the other hand I did not. I am not sure if the lake experience was what sent the events in motion. Three stars for effort. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to be an early reader in exchange for my review.
